I switched from a 2007 toyota tacoma trd 4x4 with a 6 speed manual for a honda Ridgeline rtle. It is better in literally every way. 10mpg better on the highway, much more comfortable, and a much easier truck to work out of. 95 percent of the people here claiming to buy the tacoma for its off-road capabilities will only test them when they park in a field at a county fair.
I don't think most people who are debating which vehicle to get narrow down to the ridgeline vs Tacoma. Idk but to me they just have two very different target audiences, the Tacoma is more for people who actually want a higher ride with a more traditional "truck" feel and use. Vs the ridgeline which is more for people who really just want a mid size suv but occasionally need a truck bed for those larger items/furniture etc. This is subjective but to me the ridgeline is infinitely more comfortable to sit in/drive especially as a taller person. Like i said, it's hard to compare them because their target buyers are very different, i think honda was trying to cross over into the off roading market of people with this trailsport trim, and its cool but i think they'd really need a few more things for people to seriously consider this over a Tacoma solely for off roading. But between the two of them for an everyday driver. Ridgeline all the way, for me it's more spacious, rides smoother, feels more robust and just overall is a more pleasant vehicle to drive.
I do love a smooth ride. I went from a Chevy Silverado to a Ridgeline. Haven’t missed a beat. It tows just as much and is much easier to load stuff in the bed. Might be the best truck I’ve ever owned. I’ve owned just about all of them. On a side note the turbo four cylinder on the Toyota is making people look elsewhere. People just don’t trust those engines yet.
For most ppl who THINK they need a truck, this is far more practical for everyday use. Also, when compared to Taco (and I love me a TACO!) this is a very comfortable vehicle to spend time in. For many pll, the seating position and the room in a Taco for Passnegers is terrible. Still, TACO is a great Truck, just not for everyone.
I really don't think they're trying to compete with tacoma, they'd need to do a lot more off road focused upgrades, it's more likely they just want to give some more off roading capabilities to people who are already leaning towards a ridgeline but wished it was a little more "off road friendly"
Tacoma can’t compete on road. Ridgeline has 36.7 vs 32 inches rear leg room in the Tacoma. The Ridgeline is 50” wide between the rear wheel wells allowing you to lie a 4x8 piece of plywood flat. The Tacoma is only 41.5” wide between the rear wheel wells
I don’t think the ridgeline is supposed to compete with the Tacoma. The Tacoma is supposed to be a practical alternative of full-size trucks while the ridgeline is supposed to be like a truck targeted to the cross-over market.

There is no way you’re actually going to pick a ridgeline over a Tacoma. The ridgeline is basically a suv with a bed. It has a dual axel in the back which is not ideal for off-roading (while the Tacoma has a straight axel) which makes it better for road commutes. The clearance is only 7.5” compared to the 8.5+” that most trucks have. The Tacoma may have went down to a 4cyl but that doesn’t meant the performance is worse. Compared to the 2024 Tacoma, yeah it’s ugly
Never ! I like a frame under a truck !
Been there. I prefer unibody for mid-sized truck.
@@tonyllaguno4845Yea, the ride is so much better.
Thats a Hard No.
Nice truck, bla, bla, bla, but at the end of the day, can’t take this truck off roading, real towing and even doing mods , you know why, because this call truck don’t have a chassis, it’s a compact truck, can’t even lift the deammm thing!! You can use it to go home depot buy flowers and plants, may be but a bike or a go cart in the back my friends. Did I mention this wanna be truck is very competitive in one thing , price!!! This thing it’s pricey like all the mid size trucks!!!😅😅😅😅
For mid-sized, unibody makes more sense. That’s why companies are developing more.
It tows more than my last full size truck. 😂.
You sound like a Toyota salesman. They know the Ridgeline could overtake the share of the mid-sized truck market.
@crawdaddct Its payload weight is also more. The RL has a steel reinforcement bar between the bed and cab allowing it to flex, making the unibody stronger to hold more than most mid-sized trucks. Nobody talks about this.
It’s Just so ugly
Honda- NO
