    I have a 2006 Ridgeline with 246K miles and a 2022 Ridgeline with 6K miles. I can confirm almost everything you said. I'm a big guy and, as you mentioned, it is the most comfortable ride I've found. I looked into the Tacoma line and the cab is way too cramped and uncomfortable for me. The only thing I don't understand is how you ever get 30 mpg. The best I've ever done on the road with the 2022 is 24mpg. Love this rig.

      Mpg comes down to quite a few things but mainly it’s about how you control your throttle and take hills. If you can learn how to prepare for hill assents and descents you can then really increase your fuel efficiency. But it’s a lot of work. It’s a best case scenario.

    • @YuriyMotso
      @YuriyMotso  2 роки тому +2

      @@kevinstevens1399 All my numbers for testing are as follows:
      I fully top off the vehicle before testing.
      I will either top it off with 1 additional pull of the pump or sometimes I just stop when the fuel pump autostops. However the first testing result will be filled at the same location with the same pump and the same way I pull the trigger.
      I then Calculate the miles driven divided by the gallons which give me the most accurate fuel economy.
      I repeat the test multiple times and get an average which then gives me my realistic fuel economy.
      Now my best numbers like the 30mpg+ are done on straight up long road trips while fully engaged with the vehicle to ensure best fuel economy. Such as Speeding up while going down hill without increasing RPMS and then letting vehicle coast up the next climb to reduce effort on the engine to work climbing. Tailing Semi trucks for reduced drag by being in their slip stream. these are all methods people should learn for aggressive fuel savings.

I want better gas mileage, more rear seat room and I don’t tow anything over 4500 lbs anymore. I've had every type pickup truck (Ford, Chevy, Dodge) since 70's and bought the Ridgeline LTE in 2019. Now after testing all of the midsizes since I no longer required full size, I was completely sold on the Honda functionality, however like old purist, the front grill was just not attractive. But when I weighed all the positives compared to looks, since I'm in my 60's I don't care about that so much. I keep hearing people bashing it saying it is NOT a truck. Well a truck definition is nothing more than a cab and an open back to haul & store things. Who gives a rip about the frame design, it IS a truck and an outstanding one at that. Best riding vehicle I've owned due to the frame on this pickup. I do agree with not having a tailgate lock and another feature I got spoiled on with wife's H-RV is the Brake Hold feature when stopping. That is handier that you think and Honda should have that on every vehicle. This truck will haul me to the grave before it quits, That I'm sure.

    There are 2 reasons i did not buy a ridgeline.otherwise i loved everything else about it. Honda should go with an actual timing chain vs a timing belt. The Honda V6 in the Ridgeline is an interference engine which means if the timing belt breaks you will have catastrophe engine failure. The owners manual says to change the timing belt at 100,000 miles. This job will cost you $1,200 to $2,000 depending on the vehicle. It is not an easy job.

    These seem like seriously underrated trucks. Would love to see you do a comparison with that Tacoma you have there in the driveway. Been thinking about getting one a lot of the guys in this overlanding group I’m in drive tacomas and 4Runners my only concern would be lack of ground clearance afaik it’s not meant to be a serious off-roader compared to the others. But I can see this being a lot more comfortable to live with day to day especially with that great mpg. Gets same mpg as my forester.

    • @YuriyMotso
      @YuriyMotso  2 роки тому +2

      I don’t think it’s an underrated truck but that there is a misconception of what you are supposed to drive. There is so much pressure that you need to drive a certain type of vehicle instead of informing you to get the right vehicle. The new truck face lift is absolutely amazing. There is a photo I saw of the new one on Instagram in the sand color with a 3” lift and it was absolutely unbelievable. Looked like the perfect off road vehicle. I personally have had both. Used to swear by tacomas only but I never went off road and so I looked at it from that perspective and bought the Honda. Today I would never go back to a Tacoma from the Honda. Next upgrade would be full size truck or a hybrid. IMO.

      I have a 2023 Ridgeline. I've gotten hassled at work by a couple of guys, stuff like, "What a cute little wanna-be truck!" They also call it the "Malibu Barbie Truck". No problem, that's just the insecurity talking. I'm doing what's right for me, not other people. Most of the guys are like, "Cool!" Especially when I showed them the trunk and fold-up back seats, which makes an awesome area to stow stuff like luggage on a road trip or groceries that you want to keep cool on a hot summer day. One of my friends has been converted to the Ridgeline, he's sick of his Tacoma. It is gutless! It also got about 20 MPG on the highway until it hit 70,000 miles, then suddenly dropped to 10-12 MPG. He called Toyota and they pretended like they'd never heard this before. The fix is probably more expensive than it's worth since they won't talk to anybody about it. The only suggestion Toyota could tell him is to buy another truck. He is, but it won't be a Toyota.
      By the way, I took a drive out to my parents' house 140 miles away. I got 27.2 MPG (averaged 72 MPH). Suck on that, Ford, Chevy, and GM. I got that by judicious use of the Econ button. There were a couple of hills where I turned Econ off and had to put my foot in it a bit. For 98% of that trip, I put it on cruise control, hit the Econ button, and just cruised. It did great.

      I have driven the Ridgeline in snow, but I will say in my experience from Washington snow that the Ridgeline coupled with the firestone destination tires in my opinion are awful in snow. I mean I had death grip on. Coming from Subarus with Michelin and continental tires with lots of snowboarding trips under my belt I have some good experience of what tires feel good and which ones feel unsafe. Destination tires gave me Zero confidence. So I cannot comment yet on snow driving until I test out my new tires. But it’s my personal experience.

The newer 9 spd is junk, google it...I traded my 19 in due to a transmission problem and my wife had a 2109 passport with the "new" 9 spd you see now in the current ridgeline that had to be replaced under warranty at 50k. I'd say the $1500 timing belt job and the garbage transmissions are enough for a hard pass for anyone who wants to carry more than mulch from home depot. Unless you buy the 4k warranty...hard pas

Since it is basically a Pilot cabin it does not feel like a truck to her. We do not have kids so we keep the back seats up all the time. We live in an area that gets snow and ice in the winter so having AWD that automatically kicks in when needed is great. Got the RTL-E because it will probably be the last new(er) vehicle we buy. This means if you keep them on when you turn off the truck, they will turn on when you remote start the truck. Next, the.heated steering wheel. Finally, if it is below 40゚F. and you use the remote start, the defroster and the heated steering wheel automatically turn on. And if you left the heated seats on, they will be working as well.
    Next feature is for summer. As you approach the truck, tap the unlock button on the remote 3 times and hold the third. For as long as you keep the button depressed, the windows will open. This allows the greenhouse heat to escape.

The Ridgeline checks all the boxes in terms of comfort and practicality--but that spare tire setup is awful. While it's not like I get flats often, the prospect of getting one with the bike, metal, or lumber in the back is a real turn off.

    I’ve driven a few Ridgelines over the years working for a dealership. They are great trucks and would fulfill most truck requirements people have. The right size, not a gas guzzler, pretty good value. Although I would tell perspective buyers to try driving one a distance before committing. I drove a 2019 we have in stock last week to an auction in Savannah (about a 2 hour and 20 minute drive). I didn’t make it half way and my back hurt so much from the seat it felt like it was on fire. I played with the angle and lumbar but nothing seemed to help. I found the seat to be flat and lacking in thigh and lateral support. I’ve had this issue with the Pilot and Accord as well. I actually drove a vehicle I bought back and let the truck bring the Ridgeline back because of that reason. I’m sure some would find the seat to work for them, but it’s where you’ll spend the most time so make sure it works for you.

    Love your videos man! I’m in Atlanta and was choosing between this, the Colorado and the Tacoma but I am definitely going with the Ridgeline after watching your videos. Thanks a ton!!

      Awesome. It’s about getting the right truck for the job and not the one people tell you to buy. Unless you off road you don’t need a Tacoma. Period. You will also get 18mpg or less. Most likely less since your in Atlanta, probably 15 if you get the taco. I know because that’s what I was getting.

      Dude yeah. Out of those three the Ridgeline is by far the best bang for your buck. Congrats on getting a new truck!

      Jeff, I found a good low mileage used 2020 RTL-E model and after 5 months I find it very good. I tow a 7x14 enclosed trailer (halfway across the US 2x) often with a couple heavy bikes in it, does just fine. Have dropped a load of dirt in the back as well. As a daily driver no comparison for comfort and quiet ride. Getting 28+mpg on the highway25mpg around town. As most who have tested it say its 98% of truck that most need, (except for their ego's I guess). No it won't rock crawl like some others but it can handle off road nicely. Anyway, if you get one I think you'll be very happy. PS I also have a Ram 3500-my "real" truck that I never drive anymore unless I'm pulling the RV.

      I rebuilt mine from two ridgelines. Wish I started my channel then. Would have been great content.

    Love, love, LOVE my 2021 Ridgeline. It's all the truck I need - and more. Hauled a VERY heavy dual recliner in the bed from east coast SC to Western NC - up the mountain - with no issues. Took it off roading yesterday and it handled everything I threw at it. Got my family up into the woods and got some amazing views and got us safely down and back to civilization. Plenty of room for all our gear + us. We've driven it all up and down the east coast. Great comfort and gas mileage. I'll be buying another one when this one wears out.

    Needs to be a hybrid; holding off until that's offered, my 1st in line truck after the Maverick

    You didn’t mention that you can open the windows with just the key fob and close with key using the key in the door.

      Many vehicles do that though. And I don’t use it much.
