I like the new Ridgeline, but I’m not a fan of that electric button console shifter. should just put the shifter back on the column or put it on the dash out-of-the-way. Shifter beside cupholder with liquid is not a good idea. If you spill liquid on the electric shifter, it will short out bad design.

Maybe, probably no loss for most customers

I believe you are seriously mistaken. I have a 2023 Ridgeline Black Edition. There are 7 buttons below the mirror switch just like in the 2024 you showed. Also, mine indeed has a wireless phone charger just like your 2024. You must have tried to compare a Black 2024 with a lesser trim level on the 2023. Also, the 2023 has the 9 inch info screen, te only difference is the Apple car play is wired in mine. No big deal. Both steering wheels have the exact same features, just slightly different buttons. What on earth were you looking at.

Bought the new 2024 Ridgeline Trailsport two weeks ago. Love it. Previously had a 2017 and 2021 RtTL- E. Loved them, too, but the Trailsport is a cut above.

Pretty much the same as the 2021. Mostly looks. In regards to engine and transmission and mechanical specs it is pretty much the same. The tires are much better.

Trailsport should’ve came from the factory with 2-3 inches more ground clearance. More like Subaru has done with their Wilderness models that have almost 10 inches of ground clearance.

I have the touring model 2021 and no problems. The changes I see are the tailgate, steering wheel buttons, the display speedometer, arm rest, trail sport option, tires are different and the oil pan in the 2024 has guard to protect the oil pan. Honda is definitely trying to compete with off road vehicles and seeing some of the video's on you tube what this truck drive can do to test the vehicle up hill steep slopes and climbling bummy hills is amazing. This truck looks like the under dog but it is turning heads. The towing is not there yet but maybe hydrogen cell power might be something to think about in the future and i can see it happening and cannot see it going all electric.

Love my '24 Ridgeline TrailSport. Yes, the push-button shifter is difficult to get accustomed to. It took me a full month for it to feel natural to me. But it does feel natural now. For someone to pass on buying this awesome vehicle because of a push-button shifter is a tragedy. After all, you choose your gear at the beginning of a drive, so you and pay no attention to it from then on. The ride, handling, engine, and comfort are all top notch. It checks every box on my list of things I want in a truck. If I had the choice of a traditional shifter, yes, I'd take it. But the lack of it makes little difference in the scheme of things.

I like everything about the 2024 one except for the tailgate (I prefer the old style without the embossed Ridgeline) and the lack of a great shifter. I’m not a fan of the push button shifter.

I had a 2019 Ridgeline and chose not to upgrade to the new one because of the push button shifter. The dealership let me take one home for a weekend test drive and I didn’t care for the push button shifter at all. I could see it being a problem if something was to get spilled on the console and down into those buttons.

One thing most don't tell you about the Rigdeline engine. It has a timing belt that requires changing at the 80-100K mark. That costs a staggering amount of money and is not easy for most DIY. If you don't change it and it fails, your engine is toast.

    • @spritely2158

Honda needs to retool their Alabama plant and produce a 3rd gen pickup, or just throw in the towel. These 2nd gen. Ridgelines, especially 2017-2019 were awful; transmission went out in mine at 48k mi.
The design-elements are solid, but execution was off-the-shelf quality, especially the flimsy plastic actuators used in the tailgate. And, if you stood on the bumper with the tailgate down, it'd sag.
