Purchased a 24 B/E Ridgeline, local diving 23mpg, Test drove all Midsize Trucks, Ridgeline has the most interior room and a smooth ride. Downsized from a 2010 F150 with 173k miles, The Ridgeline is a better ride than my F150 and fits better in the Garage I will never go back to a full size Also at 45k it is less expensive than an equally equipped full size Truck. Has a V6 with no turbo that will last for 200k+ with fewer problems than a 4 banger Turbo.
That pretty much sums it up
45K out the door? Pretty good deal for 24 BE
@@isimfemile9185 my 24 B/E also cost $45k. Of course that's not our the door. There's taxes as other fees to pay...
The ZF9 is probably the weak link when it comes to longevity.
I’m still driving my 06
I had a nice Silverado. Under 70k miles on it the rear wheel wells started rusting out and the gas mileage was terrible. Realized I didn’t use it that much for truck stuff other than hauling kayaks and hardware store runs. Traded it in for a 21’ Ridgeline black edition and haven’t looked back. Does everything I need and great gas mileage. Get what you need and don’t worry about what everyone else thinks.
Husband loved his Ridgeline and would still be driving it if someone had not hit him and totaled it.. huge bummer. He loved the Ridgeline. He also had a Silverado when he was in college etc. He loves Honda better. Enjoy
If you are off roading or towing, the Tacoma. Everything else, the Ridgeline.
100% agree
I don't think people understand this the Ridgeline would be better off road the all-wheel drive system is awesome way better than the 4 by 4 now the only Advantage here with the Tacoma is the ground clearance not a problem put a lift kit on that Ridgeline so it protects the bottom and guaranteed 100% about rich life will go more places than the Tacoma and if you don't believe me watch some UA-cam videos Ridgeline wins every single time you just need the ground clearance
@truthnow902 ground clearance. There you go. It's based off the Pilot. Until the ground clearance is resolved, good luck.
@@elche1976 yeah it is called the lift kit you can put them on any truck you can pretty much buy them anywhere lift it up as high as you want problem solved
@@truthnow902validation por compensation kits. I know. So many trucks with them and you can tell their pavement princesses never see trails where those were made for.
I'm not taking a $50k truck off roading, that's what old Jeeps are for. Ridgeline all the way.
Well you won't have a choice to go off-road anyway with a Ridgeline
This is my thought process 😂😂.
Pay around $45k for a not real truck or around $55k for an off-road turned pavement princess real truck? I'll take the smooth ride and cheaper price along with the American made and built pride.(Ridgeline is 95% made and built in Alabama)
Towing with the Ridgline is actually pretty good. seen test up to 5000 it was one of the best Midsize trucks
Fully loaded my 23 ridgeline was 47. For that you might get a basic SR5.
@b.g.4277 People will still buy it. If you're new/first time truck buyer, people buy Tacoma. In reality, it's super basic and outdated. People just don't know better.
My sticker says 70% USA parts
Is Ridgeline actually made in Alabama?
I had a first generation Honda Ridgeline for 13 years, pulled 4000 lb travel trailer all my gear and the old lady all over the country for years, no problems, waiting for the 2025.
I WANTED the Tacoma. I BOUGHT the Ridgeline. The test drive made it an EASY choice. The Honda has:
1) Way more space in the front seats. It's super wide, so shoulder room is fantastic. I'm 6'-4" and I have good legroom, and massive headroom.
2) WAY WAY more space / MORE USABLE space in the back seats. Both for when using with the back seats down for people, and for when the back seats are folded up storing things. I can fit TWO full size bike back there (with the front wheels taken off).
3) In bed trunk. Man, it's perfect for groceries. They don't slide around like when you put them in a bed. And it's secure/locking/out of site. Perfect for valuables.
4) The WIDER FULL FLAT BED. Man, hauling 4x8 sheets of anything just got simple. They lay flat in the bed.
5) The ride, it's great. Quiet. Smooth. Great for trips, or around town.
6) Outward visibility. You can actually see out in all directions. (In the Tacoma, you sit so low in the cab/the hood is so high, you can't really see what's in front of the taco).
7) Seating position. The Tacoma seats sit you "on the floor". It's very uncomfortable. The Honda seats are very very good. And are high enough to provide thigh support.
8) The swing out tailgate is fantastic for getting access to the bed. Either loading, or using the bumper as a step. Magic.
Dumbest thing I've done in my Ridgeline. I put 1,900lbs of landscape paver in the bed, and hauled them home. (The bed capacity is supposed to be 1,000lbs). Don't recommend...
Next time just rent a trailer for $50.
I'm 6'-8" and drive a full sized 3500 HD RAM. The mid-sized trucks are fine if (like you) you're small enough to fit in one.
1500# is payload limit...plus or minus 50# 😊
Dude I’ve put some DUMB LOADS in my ridge and it’s fine haha
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life yeah, my max is 1,700lbs... waaay more than the 1,000lbs bed limit...(don't think I'll do it again though..)
Went to a ford dealer to test drive a 23 Tacoma Off Road, they had a 23 Ridgeline B/E in the lot didn’t really care for it but still test drove it. A week later somehow I had a brand new Ridgeline B/E in my garage lol
Didnt think id ever say this but, I actually believe the Ridgeline will be more reliable than the Taco in the long term.
Car and Driver measured 14.6s quarter mile in a 2024 Ridgeline.
Not bad for a n/a v6
I’ve owned both, currently driving a Ridgeline, you can’t go wrong either way. Just make sure you change that oil regularly on that 4 banger turbo and Honda, of course change that timing belt every 100k. They both should last a long time.
mavericks are better and cheaper, also for that price you could get a ranger raptor...
@@unavailable291 Mavericks are not bad, but not better. Much smaller. I have a Bronco, don’t need another ford. Wanted something that rides better and more room. There is no Ranger Raptors for 30K. 😂
theres a big difference on CR
I live in UT. The Ridgeline "snow mode" is amazing. I've owened a lot of trucks: Tacoma, F150, GMC Sierra, F250 7.3 Disel etc. I've found the Ridgeline works great for me and fits in my garage. Yes, I have test driven the 2024 Tacoma's twice, but that back seats are to small, seats uncomfortable, ride is ruff. I hate losing my truck trunk. If I was back on the Farm in Idaho. I would get a 1/2 ton truck to haul hay etc.
Ben, LOL, great video! I need a “truck” that will perform the function of towing a small 2,900 lb camper (any truck rated 5,000 lbs or more will comfortably do that) and I need payload to manage tongue weight, topper/shell, camping gear, passengers, and pet. I want around 1500 lbs of payload. In this comparison, easy, I choose the Ridgeline. Sure Tacomas are great trucks and solid off-roaders. I need function not a life-style vehicle! ;) I am disappointed in the Tacomas and Frontiers in terms of payload despite liking both. By the way, the Ridgeline will actually handle 600 lbs of tongue weight despite only towing 5,000 lbs. Most trucks will run out of payload before running out of tow capacity. Lots to like with the Tacoma, but my truck needs would require that I choose the Ridgeline over the Tacoma; ummm, the Ridgeline is more “trucky” for what I need in terms of hauling.
I'm driving my third Ridgeline Gen 2. It is perfect for us. My wife does not like to climb up into a traditional truck. We are in our 60s. It is so much easier to get up into and down from the bed with the side-opening tailgate. The all-wheel independent transmission can outclimb most bed-on-frame, solid axil units. We feel safe in any weather. Finally, we enjoy having a capable pickup that doesn't make us sacrifice comfort.
23 Ridgeline rtl. It’s a beast! Let the haters hate.
Just bought a Ridgeline but wanted a Tacoma. But Tacoma was $12 k more with comparable trims. I love the ride of the Ridgeline and it is very practical for 95% of my driving. I won’t be going off road but will be driving it on long road trips like Alaska next summer. The tailgate and storage trunk are very nice and useful. So far very impressed with Ridgeline!
The ridgeline 🎉
Fantastic job! Great details, comparison, you didn't swim either truck, you explained it's purpose. I just got my 2024 ridge line yesterday. I love it
Great job Ben! Thanks very much. This was EXACTLY the comparison video I was looking for. I've been driving a 2003 Tacoma Extra-Cab with the 2.4 liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder which has served me faithfully for YEARS. My choice will be the Honda Ridgeline...probably the Black Edition. I live in the South and the humid summers here call for ventilated seats which the Black Edition offers. I'm the Home Depot sort of guy you describe...I like a pickup for the convenience of having a bed when I need it. I rarely tow...so the 5,000 pound towing limit on the Ridgeline is no big deal for me. I'll gladly take the unibody "car-like" ride offered by the Honda Ridgeline!
It’s between a ridgeline black edition or a Nissan frontier pro 4x for me. Would love to see a comparison of the two.
i went with the 24 pro 4x, love it so far
@@jesurunblends I’m leaning that way too :)
@@PyroPopie Frontier is a nice truck, but check reviews on its cvt transmition
@@bartoszchruszcz2265funny stuff
@@bartoszchruszcz2265cvt?
Both are nice but I would go with the ridgeline. Has a v6 and does everything well.
Had a 21 ridgeline, traded it in for a 23 frontier and now im back to a 24 ridgeline black edition, the frontier was awesome but lacked interior space and was rough to daily drive, the ridgeline is a dream to daily and fits me and the crew perfectly. All depends on what you need the truck for but the ridgeline for me was the best choice overall
I Recently bought a 2012 Ridgeline with175k one owner it rtl and it’s a great truck I look at several different midsize truck this was best all around for me anyway I don’t really off road
Sold my 2006 RTL ridgeline with 300k,was running great,I bought 2022 ridgeline RTL-E ,between toyota and honda, always Honda baby.
The RL is the best all around choice for most, whether they know it or not.
I went with the Ridgeline. No regrets. There really is no comparison...despite the TFL Toyota fanboy nonsense.
I sold a 2014 Ram 1500 and bought a 2020 Ridgeline Sport in April 2021. MSRP $38k, discounted down to $32k. Never looked back. I’m in my ‘60s, I want comfort and interior room but I also need a bed to haul (don’t tow, so don’t care about the 5k tow capacity). Ridgeline is perfect for what I need. Even with price increases, the Ridgeline RTL is a higher trim level than the SR5 Tacoma and the Honda still comes in lower. Give me NA V6 over a turbo 4 any day. TFL guys broke their new Taco transfer case the first time they took it off road. Sarah-n-tuned took a Ridgeline offroading in Arizona and it kicked ass. Watch her video before you hate on the Honda.
Both nice trucks. The Ridgeline will be what over 90% need. Trust me, I have one.
The Ridgeline has all the capabilities of a truck and none of its weakness. I had a Tacoma. The RL drives way smoother, comfortable for long trips, decent hauler, bigger interior, better bed & tailgate, bigger engine, handles better, and it's FASTER! Ya'll need to get over its unibody. For a mid-sized truck, you don't need a body on frame anyway.
No the Ridgeline is not faster. There is a reason the tacoma outsells the Ridgeline by 6 fold.
@sammy-gd7hw Because people don't know better. Tacoma is ranked #1 purchase for first-time truck buyers. What keeps it selling is its name. I had Tacoma, Tundra, & Ridgeline. The Taco is a Gardeners truck. It drove rough, and it's tight inside. People who have an RL love it. People just need to give it a chance. Most make fun of it without even driving it.
Facts! To have a truck with the drive quality of an SUV...win + win!
@trl1980 tri I have owned them all too. And I'm telling you. The better car is the Ridgeline. The better truck is the tacoma. And by the way I don't believe you owned a tacoma or tundra for that matter. Gardeners truck. Please.
100% AGREE. Go get your taco haha
I test drove both. I drove the Tacoma SR manual and it's way underpowered. I did like the Tacoma TRD Pro (auto) and it had a nice infotainment screen. The problem is to get a Tacoma that's equipped close to an RTL Ridgeline, the price is probably over $50k
the one thing that I hate about the Tacoma is the button panel to the left of the Wheel. If you get a base model, it’s almost entirely empty.
Both will last forever. Both are trucks; the Ridgeline has a bigger bed. Most people do not use a truck to half of its ability. If you actually off-road, not just drive on dirt roads down to camp, then buy a Tacoma. If you want a better daily driver that can tow 5000lbs but you usually tow less than 3500, buy a Ridgeline.
The ridgeline will last longer now, so you know which one you’ll get.
Ridgeline... Lol
Love my 23 RTL Ridgeline with 3inch Traxxda suspension and Bfgoodrich K2 Tires.
Loving my 2024 Ridgeline Trailsport. Not sure we really need to do the "which one is superior" thing anymore. The two trucks appeal to different segments of the truck-buying population. Why not just leave it there?
Honda Ridgeline all the way ❤❤
Ridgeline Hands Down!! AWD!!
Nissan frontier: What about me?
Nissan Frontier all day!!
Frontier was my first pick until I drove one, and the back seat was very tight, Purchased a 24B/E Ridgeline also has more standard equipment
@@chiefman8316it's like all body on frame trucks/ SUVs. Unibody crossovers just have more room
The Frontier is a great looking truck....and that's it.
@@jimmorrison2124
It's more then that!! It's the best 2024 midsize truck!!
The Ridgeline is fast!! Had both. Ridgeline is better than Tacoma.
Wow the streets are clean in that area!
Please make a two door regular cab !
Ridgeline is the truck most truck buyers should be buying but don’t.
I love the old Tacoma. Its a great truck, but I need a lite truck a few times a week. My Ridgeline is perfect for me, the major point for me was the ride quality. If I needed a daily truck to take a beating and push I'd 100% go Tacoma.
Have a 2020 ridgeline and an 2022 f-150, other than towing the ridgeline i would say is better for my daily habits.
Off road truck need more visibility. But, thats opposite for car manufacturing view. They make winshield glass narrower, less visibility, long hood, straight hood etc… thats where Ridgeline is shine, except ground clearance.
Those common differences aside, my understanding is the Ridgeline/Pilot/Odyssey/MDX transmissions have issues, particularly if a person tows.
Is this old data, or is transmission reliability still an issue with the Honda platform? I plan on towing a 3000 pound trailer.
Thanks all!
In 2020 they replaced the problematic honda 6-speed with a ZF-9 speed transmission. It has proven to be very reliable, but some people don’t like the dog clutch shifts.
@@jjp5421what is “dog clutch shifts”? Not familiar with it.
Ridgelines look really good lifted. Changes whole look and their awd blurs the lines between full time 4wd. Definitely a road trip truck. Huge storage abilities. If you wanna beat up your truck offroad then get the tacoma. But these thing's are 50 k now! You really wanna bash it?
Road trip truck? You want a car, while desiring to be seen in a truck.
@@elche1976 or you want to go places but be able to run to the garden or hardware store with the same vehicle.
It handles like a sedan and is better at hauling things like fishing, camping, and hunting gear.
@adamnagel7436 pretty much what I said. You want a car. It's why they don't sell many. Because most people who want a car, but a car. Very small number that opt off the Ridgeline due to mpg. You can say it has a smooth ride and comfort and in bed storage, but it's among the lowest rated in he truck category. Pele van do Edgar they want with their money. If I was primarily buying for comfort and mpg, I'd get a sedan. If I was going to use it for truck features... I'd get a truck that better did those things. Again, it's why they only sell 40k of these a year. Kudos to Honda, they got that market.
Wait until the '25 gets the 10 sp. and a little bump is HP. Features and layout wise, I have to give it to Honda and it's cheaper. I hope Honda will improve a few things and maybe re-engineer the frame for better towing. Toyota has done a good job with the "Tonka" truck look and it's cool. It is more cramped being RWD. Also, you can get stuck with subscription fees. This made my decision.
@TwoPair72 no 10 speed, and I doubt it's any better than the zf9. Also, with the new v6 on the Pilots, which probably will work its way into the Ridgeline, isn't much more powerful at all, lol.
I'd pick the V-6 Honda over the Toyota turbo 4 cylinder any day of the week.
Highway noise and handling review would've been nice.
If Ridgeline had about 3 more inches ground clearance it would be my choice hands down.
There are lifting kits available and some dealers install them.
Mine is lifted 4 inches. I love it and it rides the same as new.
@@RizzosExperience-zy2qz How much did lifting cost you approx ? Im guessing $4k?
@@RizzosExperience-zy2qzand what does that do to the gas mileage? Is the better gas mileage completely negated?
It was expensive with the new tires and install it was 4k. Gas mileage is about 1 or 2 mpg less.
I recently test drove a Ridgeline and a Ranger and liked the RL a lot more. I've been considering a Tacoma too but am familiar with my brother's 4runner and it is way too small inside. I assume the Tacoma is similar based on the comments here. I am pretty definite that I will be getting a Ridgeline.
@geminate The current Tacoma is nice. The interior space increased but still cramped, especially the back seat on crew cab. If you get the short bed, it's almost useless with those massive wheelwell humps. This new generation tacoma went from rear leaf springs to multi link solid axle, which should smoothen the ride a little but nothing comparable to the Ridgeline. They come with a massive 14in infotainment screen and a retractable steps option.
The current Ridgeline, 24-25, has a new redesigned interior. However, it's still a 2nd generation that began in 2017. The engine is not even the new v6 that the current pilot has. It's still a vtech. It's obsolete nowadays and with timing belt, it'san expensive upkeep. It's outdated, but most of the issues have been tweaked.
@@squidusn71does the new v6 use a timing belt?
One thing I don't like about the Ridgeline is that engine bay looks like it belongs on a little hatchback. I want to be able to see what I'm working on.
However I don't own one so maybe it's not as bad as it looks.
Ridgelines are fine for the over 50 crowd. Lets be honest, they're Grandpas pick-up car.
They're easy to get in and out of (like my wife's Pilot) and they drive like a car, because that's what they are.
Toyotas have gotten VERY expensive but these aren't far behind.
The 2024 Ridgeline should be prices from $34K- $39.9k
I saw an elderly couple at Walmart load their stuff into the bed of their Ridgeline. Low bed height made it easy, as did the height of the entry to the cab. Ridgeline drives just like a car. I can see where the Ridgeline appeals to those that body on frame trucks are too rough for.
I’m waiting a while before buying a new Tacoma, plus I want to see if the new gen Ridgeline comes out. I’m wishing the next Ridgeline has their 2.0 Turbo with Hybrid & about 3” inches more ground clearance on the Trailsport model. Otherwise, I’ll get a non hybrid (not worth the $ & no underwear rear storage) Tacoma Trd OR.
What is the ride quality between a truck with leaf springs versus multi link suspension
I like my Honda is 2022. The 2024 almost have the same. Is nice to drive. My wife likes to drive.
Ridgline is what I will go for

Not weak, just pricey
@@BenHardyCars compared to Colorado and ranger it's like up to 115 ft lbs of tourq less

Just do not like the ridge lines infotainment system or the height of vehicle.
I was gonna get a Tacoma but the ridgeline is perfect it had everything i need it I can’t wait until 2025 or 2026 if the design change Honda all the way
Great video. I'm trying to decide between these two vehicles. I have owned multiple honda cars and motorcycles, so i'm a honda guy. The only thing that bothers me about the ridgeline is that the front end is so low. Can a lift kit be installed on the ridgeline to make the truck level?
Yes, there are leveling kits available to bring the front end up a bit
@@karlwogoman7570 I wouldn't mind lowering the rear instead. I think it will look great lowered than lifted/leveled higher.
Up in freeze thaw area, those roads look very smooth. Very nice ! Would like comparo on some beat up roads. How about a decibel meter for interior noise levels ? I just can’t seem to get used to ANY vehicle with a vertical computer looking screen just sticking straight up, almost not attached to the dash. I realize is for less light reflection, but it looks cheap, like a last minute thought. A couple of screws and some wires connected, voila, instant computer stuck on the dash. Looks flimsy too around active kids. I considered a new Nissan Frontier for several months, but part time 4x4 is old tech same as my long ago 1989 little Blazer. Slippery roads, rear end slides around and have to decide 4x4 in or out? Then out or in ? Back and forth. All time AWD and a more comfortable car like ride, I’ll go with a loaded Ridgeline and look forward to some coddling on the roads of life. Especially the broken up horrible condition freeze thaw roads. Been spoiled by Subaru awesome full time AWD, but they’ve totally missed out on the last 20 years truck craze in ‘Murica.
I'll take a Ridgeline for the daily drive, camping and fishing trips. 90% of people I know has a Tacoma but never go off roading with it.
Not a real truck stupidest thing I've ever heard when the Tacoma has a 4-cylinder with a turbo s*** that's a motor for a car do you have this little mortar working really hard to pull a truck and if you tow anything and put anything in the payload the mortar is going to work really hard come on absolutely ridiculous 4 cylinder in a truck it should not be called the truck maybe a truck for a Smurf plus the Tacoma looks really ugly all square boxy look on the inside and the outside it looks so cheap the older Tacomas looked a lot better and had Real Motors so definitely Toyota is skimping on looks quality durability so it is very clear which one is the real truck and which one is the Smurfs truck Toyota needs to go back to the roots that is when they make quality the trucks were better built no competition to the Honda Ridgeline absolutely none at all
I'd take the ridgeline
What about a ridgeline vs maverick comparisson? I'd like to see that.
One is a compact and the other is midsize.
The Maverick is quicker and cheaper. Add the tremor package for higher clearance and a more capable rear differential similar to the one found in the Ridgeline.
The Ridgeline is bigger and offers a lot of storage capabilities in the rear seats and the trunk.
I prefer the Ridgeline. Don't trust ford engineering.
@@Marbind Hey man thanks
If all you want is a small pkg with a bed. Maverick.
If you want more cabin space and storage access for stuff. Ridgeline.
@@MarbindIf you want reliability... Ridgeline.

Got a question for ya as I'm unable to find the answer to this. Does the base SR and SR5 Tacomas come with auto start stop? I noticed how there's no button to turn it off. It would be a dream if it does not have it.
Looks like only the 2wd have the autostart stop that I've seen. Not on 4wd

Honda Ridgeline for me. That V6 is going to last twice as long as the turbo 4 in the Toyota
Ridgeline
Gonna wait until the 2025 ridgeline comes out to see if it's better to go with the 2025 or not, and if not the 2024 will be cheaper once the 2025 comes out 😊
2024 Tacoma is just a souped up base model. My dad as a 2021 4 cylinder. All he has to do is add a turbo😅
ridgline has better engine and is very comfortable, the range rover defender has a unibody, can’t be all bad
Ridgeline has Variable Cylinder Management which increased the probability of specific problems the 3.5 V6 didn't have before it was added. If you change vehicles before the warranty is gone then I agree Ridgeline, but if you are lime me and plan to keep your vehicle 15 to 20 years with high miles, then I wouldn't touch any vehicle with VCM.
I think the engine issues with VCM only pertain to the earlier generations. The oil burn issues etc look to have been resolved, aside from the occasional mild stuttering when VCM kicks in that some notice. You can buy a vcm disabler if you really don't like it.
@@hapaboy0808 From all my readin on VCM all HOnda did was reprogram the system to cut 3 cylinders our less often so the problems take longer to surface. ANd I know there are disablers, but I am not interted in doing that. I will just buy something else that doesn't have VCM.
I don’t know why for 2024 Honda couldn’t put a surround view camera system on the Ridgeline. It would really clinch it for me. You mentioned that you liked the turbo push on the Tacoma. I can only imagine how much of a push the hybridized Tacoma will have. Yeah, the Tacoma can be equipped with the panoramic view monitor so the 465ft lbs of torque that Tacoma will have with the camera system that I like I’ll probably go for that one. 😅
If you live in the city these cars are fine for your crew. Cuz most contractors are super short in today's world. Pretty much Ommpa Loompas
My daughter thought the voice sounded like Mickey Mouse 😂
Great review!
Tacoma has a 4 cylinder? How cute. Lets see how its running with 250,000+ miles on it and after extended towing of a modest 4000 pound trailer.
The fact is the Ridgeline humiliates the Taco in every way.
The Ridgeline is the right truck for 95% of us. Get your head past the "manly truck" mentality and you will realize it is the right answer.
The two Japanese brothers side by side.
Drove both vehicles several times before buying. When I started the process I had my mind set on the Tacoma, but ended up buying the Ridgeline. The Ridgeline:
Rides far better because of the unibody and IRS.
Gets 24 mpg daily driving.
Quieter on the road than the Tacoma.
Has the utility of the swing open tail gate and under bed lockable storage.
Is far roomier inside- I’m 6-2 and the Tacoma felt small.
Whether people think the Ridgeline qualifies as a “truck” or not is irrelevant to me. After driving the Tacoma and owning several F-150’s, the Ridgeline is a far superior vehicle to both unless you’re doing some serious off-roading, or need towing capacity that a bigger truck offers. Ridgeline 100%.
SIMPLE the honda Ridgeline IS NOT A TRUCK! It's a unibody car chassis with a pickup bed. Period
i dont know why all honda has to do is add 2 more inches of ground clearance, maybe less hate, maybe more sales.
You can do that aftermarket like peope do with fullsize trucks
@bradbaraniuk4085 I hope Honda will leave the Ridgeline alone the way it's always been. It's the reason why owners like it because it's not trying to make it like any other truck.
Good video! Toyota lost me as a new truck customer when they went to the turbos. I ain't no mekanikal geeneeus but it don't take much to figger out that the more movin' parts you got the more chances of brakin' down. OK, enough of the bad grammar and spelling! Seriously, I have driven the new Taco and Ridgeline. Yes the Tacoma had more oomph on takeoff maybe, but in the end it IS a 4 cylinder and the sound reminded me too much of a 2015 Rav4 I owned. For the record, I have been a Toyota truck driver since 1999, 1 Tacoma and currently on my 3rd Tundra, but it's time to downsize. The main thing I DO NOT like about the Ridgeline is that stupid shifter! I DO like the built in trunk however, and it does ride better. My other option is that I'm looking at low mileage 2023 Tacomas, but when I can get a new Ridgeline for practically the same money?? I don't know yet. May be time to turn in my "Man Card" and get the Ridgeline, but hey, at age 72 that man card doesn't mean as much now! LOL.
90% of truck owners should be driving the Ridgeline. Many truck drives don't haul everyday or go off roading. They just want a vehicle that is capable. Ridgeline for sure. Tho that said tacoma are fantastic trucks. But the price......
For $46k+, no sunroof or leather? 4 cylinder turbo engine is great now but may not last as long either…
Turbos have been around forever. The had issues on 80s Saabs. The idea that a modern turbo is any worse than a modern NA engine is stupid. The advantage in low end torque, MPGS, and performance at elevation are worth it to me. I live in the north wind river range in Wyoming and drive at altitude all the time. Turbo performance is worth it to me. 60k miles on mine. Not a single issue. Personally I will never go back to NA engine.
Natural inspired engine is always better then turbo, turbo have tendency to go out without no reason, and you're down few thousand dollars.
Everyday driving and weekend work, ridgeline. Offloading and towing tacoma. Tacoma is a terrible value right now though so have zero interest in it. Models with manual seats are in the upper 40s.
Does anybody know anyone owning both Tacoma and Ridgeline, at the same time!?
I traded in my Tacoma Sport 2017 for my 2022RL. No regrets and when I’m towing my 4k lb trailer I’m not over payload. Tacoma 950lbs Ridgeline 1450lbs FTW. NY to Fla I would be exhausted after 17 hours with the nice ride of the RL much less fatigue.
See my comment above in response to “ones a car with a bed blah blah blah”
@@RizzosExperience-zy2qzyou said it, the driving exp is far superior
I traded in my Tacoma for the Ridgeline. Ridgeline is better by far! It has all the capabilities of a truck with none of the weaknesses.
I do but it's a 2004 tacoma 4wd trd off-road :) It will do all of the off-road stuff that I may need one day and the Ridgeline is more of my road truck.
I love my 23 Ridgeline RTL. It's a real enough truck for me. I don't want a rough ride from a "real truck", and Toyota's latest truck refreshes have not gone well. The Tundra and Tacoma are rife with engine and transmission problems. Plus, they cost too much. Ridgeline is also overpriced, but all trucks are overpriced.
I'll take the Honda with a timing belt v6 all day over a Toyota truck where it's engine can crap out on you at any time, any day of the week.
Honda good❤
Ridgeline rtl
Not really an apples to apples comparison.
Tacoma is just too over priced for what you get if you are gonna take a 55k vehicle off road a bunch you have plenty of money for whatever anyway
The ridgeline is overpriced because it is an old design and costs almost 50k.
Definitely a very good difference on the honda, no engine sounds on it.
Tacoma is noisy in a cab
if i bought a tacoma with that front damper on i would have it taken off dont need a snowplow, and i could see it getting broken in no time
The toyota have the new ‘self destruct « turbo engine!!! 🙄😬 A colleague buy a newTacoma, the ride quality is terrible and seat really ordinary… I’m just 5’7 and my knee touch the front seat, my head touch the roof when we hit bump… He very afraid of the engine reliability and start thinking to sell it!...
