How to Install & Play LEGO Island on a Modern PC (Play with no CD)

- From this video, you will learn how to install and run LEGO Island (1997) on modern Windows computers. This works on Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1 (it is untested on Windows 10, but will most likely work). It explains everything from putting the CD into your computer, to preventing game crashes. I hope you enjoy. :)

Edit: I actually have to give credit where credit is due, this totally works as long as you have the .iso and follow the steps
actually you need the cd but it won't go WhOpS YOu hAvE tO PuT ThE cD In YoUr CoMpUtEr when no cd. it'll start with no cd
It didn't happen to me I opened it up and it started (I have no disk drive)

IMPORTANT NOTES---
Make sure you install the FULL version so you won't need the CD
For those experiencing the purple sky and lagging, don't use Ramp Emulation (I use RGB) and it shouldn't be a problem. Direct3D will NOT work (at least not on my end) and MMX if very low quality.
The only problem is the transparent stuff like lights and windows are all dotty, but right now, I'm just taking the bad with the good. I'm just happy to play this classic.

Ramp emulation still crashes for me. RGB and MMX emulation work. The bottom of the game is cut off if I use 200% monitor scaling, but not 100%.
(My monitor is 3000x2000, my GPU is Intel Iris Xe Graphics, I am running Windows 11.)
(Edit: If I set a custom scale factor of 200 -- basically the same as the 200% option -- the cutoff also does not occur. The cursor will be a bit oversized, but I'm fine with that.)
Hey @mayhair, i got working Lego Island on Windows 11
How i do that?
1. go in CONFIG.exe and set it to Ramp Emulation
2. Go in Device Manager and disable your Graphics Card
2. Get Lego Island Rebuilder
3. Set the Settings to Run in Full Screen = False
4. Set Allow Multiplie Instances = True
5. And then click run and have some Fun in Lego Island ! :)

Ramp Emulation was why.
This might not work on the newest version of Windows 10, according to some information I've gotten about the way Windows 10 works with compatibility of old programs. I haven't tested it, so this is just speculation. Maybe I'll try it sometime in the future and figure out how to get it working. If you know of any tricks to get it to work (that is, if it doesn't work), please let me know!

Instead of choosing ramp emulation, choose RGB in the configuration settings. Worked flawlessly for me when I did this.

trying to follow this tutorial sent me on a wild goose chase but surprisingly.... i caught the wild goose and everything seems to be working great :D (if ur wondering why it was a mess to follow, i dont have a disc drive on my laptop so i had to configure the game through an ISO file and disc emulator stuff) so that was fun :D

It's not working for me. I did full installation and nothing happens when I open it. I tried compatibility mode but nothing happens.
Whoops! I cannot find any disc drives attached to your computer.
I'm 2 years late but if you get your hands on an iso of Lego islands and right click the iso and click mount it will make the PC think you have a disc inside but if you want to eject the disc click the "This PC" Icon and find the Iso and right click then press eject
I am experiencing an issue with screen flicker when I start up the game. Does anyone have a fix for this?

im on windows 11 and i just downloaded it and added it to my homescreen. (i used the no cd method) whenever i click on the icon, a loading icon shows but then nothing else, the game never starts running. Can someone help?
Help me this is not working! I want to play without the CD
It doesn't seem like it works on Windows 10... Worked fine when I was using 8, but after the update the framerate dropped horribly in the information center, and when I try going outside the game just crashes...
Edit: Scratch that! I unchecked "Draw 3D to Video Memory" and "Flip Video Memory Pages" and it seems to be working fine now... Not sure if "Draw 3D to Video Memory" would work or not.
Also my file was only crashing because I think I actually corrupted it by using the debug mode too much. :P
You have to set the emulator to RGB. That's what I did and it worked flawlessly after that! Happy nostalgia gaming!!
Lego Island crashed the same way it crashed on the video, and i tried to configure it. But CONFIGURATION.exe doesn't want to open! Someone know what to do?
I have a windows 10 VM, and I have directX 12, with direct3D 12. It worked for me, (x86) is recommended to run 32-bit stuff. It works with windows 7-11
im on windows 10, and i tried both methods,but everytime i open the game some textures are missing, like everything is blue-i can only see the book and the pics of the characters and the man greeting me
actual thing that happened to me:

It's perfectly safe. It doesn't cause any harm or damage to your computer.
Why would it?
I mean, on Windows 10, you can't have two versions of DirectX installed, so thought it might affect the start of applications, system performance, etc.
But i am actually able to install and play LEGO Racers on my Windows 10-PC, but the game produces a number of graphical errors, including the lack of shadows.
Do you experience the same problem, without using the software from the video?
It keeps telling me my pc is 64 bits and cant be installed
i cant copy the .dll to the place I need to. it says I have no more bytes left on the disc. help please, it wont let me delete anything on the disc.

Lego Island can work on Windows Server 2003 and Virtualbox. Pretty Easy. and i copied it to my Flashdrive

Got everything running super smooth. Just.... the only thing ive ven tried is racing afer i made the acecar and i get into the race with the drivers talking smack and the announcer saying go and everything.... with th pixlated loading screen of the infomaniacs house. And it never loads the actual visuals of the race.

The game runs 60 FPS on my Windows 7 laptop, but on my PC Windows 10 runs like 30 FPS at some certain points

What is the best configuration to play this game on WINDOWS XP? (I'm a brazillian,sorry about my english)
got everything to install but in the game the glich i cant solve is the sky is purple and when i hop on to the jet ski other than the controls the entire screen is purple. any advice.

I got the game running but for some reason some of the graphics are really glitchy/purple. Anyone have a fix?
I think I fixed it my changing the graphics emulation mode and running it Windows 95 compatibility mode. It still crashes at the point he showed in the video, but the textures look fine.

ive managed to get the game to run on my PC but all the textures that are ment to be transparent are purple and i can figure out how to change it
also semi transparent textures have this weird dot thing going on
I have a problem: Every time I open the game, it works but the framerate is slow on the models but the pre-rendered backgrounds run perfectly Also, the colors on the model are in black purple and white. But the pre-rendered backgrounds don't even get affected by it. What did I do wrong?

The game runs fine, but there seems to be an issue when using vehicles that the surrounding textures are the infomaniacs office, any tips on how to fix that since it is hindering me from doing most of the missions

its a 1997 game, what did you expect? antique games have lots of bugs.....

I think this would almost feel a tiny bit like pirating because you do not pay for your game but at least this video will grab UA-cam’s attention by this one comment but here’s the thing maybe we should make it so that way you would have to pay in order to grab the installer so it feels more less like you pirating it and feels more like you’re actually downloading it virtually so……… Just tell the to Producer that you should make them pay to use as because they are basically almost literally for free and I just recommend feeling like you have to pay
