i think both spelunky 2 and 1 have good soundtracks but the mines having multiple tracks is incredible. i’m so fed up with the dwellings music since there’s only one track
Sage Mantis - Spelunky is the reason I found Eirik Surhke (Music composer for some of the spelunky themes.) Which inspired me to start creating songs with a midi keyboard. Similar to the style of most of these tracks
What I found to be genius, literally genius, was how the drum beats in the deathmatch was a separate track unsynced to the melody tracks, and it always complemented each other without dissonance or sounding off. Like what the hell is that. Quantum mechanics?
Man I love these themes so much. I used to play this game all the time on the xbox 360 and now nearly a decade later I speedrun Spelunky 2 on a weekly basis. This series will always be special to me. I do have a preference towards this games soundtrack compared to the adaptive soundtrack of Spelunky 2 though. Spelunky 2 themes are definitely easily recognizable, but none of them have the flare to become iconic like songs such as mines first, jungle b and that saxophoney perfection of yeti caves. Even so, this series will remain an incredible one, and I will certainly show the same love to whatever mossmouth has in store for us next, so long as it still feels like the first two for the most part.
I love the AdLib or SoundBlaster vibe in the soundtrack that they were going for, particularly the Lobby theme and such. Great for those used to DOS or MegaDrive music.
My personal favourite has got to be The Mines - First. Felt like a cross between Turrican and Jazz Jackrabit. A pity we only get to hear it once during the gameplay. But then I might have missed something. I only bought it yesterday.
My favorite theme mainly because it used to play a crap ton when me and my brother played, there were mainly funny moments we weren't really bent on beating the game but at least moving foward.
I never played Spelunky, I've only heard good things about it. So I decided to bring this up while doing some pixel art, and WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME THIS WAS SUCH A JAM?!
I'm hearing a lot of Sonic too, as well as Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, old-school Zelda, etc. It's weird for a soundtrack to be this nostalgic despite being relatively new. 😲
Adventure just seems to be the mines first theme again, and you played shop 3 twice (but the first time it was labeled 2, along with the actual shop 2) Angry shopkeeper is action B... and A... Regardless, thank you for the video.
Oh no, dart traps combined with how spelunkys random coincidences make dart traps awful. I have an xbox clip where I have 6 health and this happens Hit by a bat -1HP Then I get knocked down into a snake pit and hit by a dart trap -3HP But then I fall down the snake pit And land on a snake but don't take fall damage, but then another snake hits me -1HP But when that snake hits me he knocks me on top of another snake and into a bat, but I had invincibility frames, but landing on the bat forced me onto the floor right next to a snake with one health left. Then the snake slowly went towards me and killed me. And this all happened in around 12 seconds and I couldn't move the whole time
@@I_Eated_The_Soap Same here, but I also have a problem with its sometimes unreadable screens. Lots of objects look for a moment like part of the background because they're in "I am not really an object, don't worry about me" colors and shapes-- egs. the purple coral spikes, the push blocks in Anubis's zone, the red-bordered walls in tide pool. With Spelunky's high-speed logic-puzzle gameplay, it's absolutely essential that the player can detect every object on the screen at first glance, but you can't always in Spelunky 2.

Glad I'm not alone on that

Yeaaa
This version of the OST is so much better than that other one. The labelled timestamps make a big difference!
You mean track list?
DragonDePlatino Aw!! I love your profile picture!
0:18 this part is why you stay on the start menu more than 2 minutes.
The Mines - First is my favourite. Always brings back great memories of playing this year's ago around Christmas. Good times.
There is so much inspiration in the Spelunky game and OST.
Sage Mantis - Spelunky is the reason I found Eirik Surhke (Music composer for some of the spelunky themes.) Which inspired me to start creating songs with a midi keyboard. Similar to the style of most of these tracks
2:41 to 2:50 is the best, it just gives me the chills
Bro same
19:08 my fav
Nostalgia.
Same here!

Honestly my favorite
Same it's the best
it is kinda fire ngl but the secret track is way better
Jungle-A for life!
I felt that
What I found to be genius, literally genius, was how the drum beats in the deathmatch was a separate track unsynced to the melody tracks, and it always complemented each other without dissonance or sounding off. Like what the hell is that. Quantum mechanics?
Kinda sounds like Spelunky classic mines at some parts
i think it’s the beats per minute(bpm) are all synced to the same timing
I just did all my homework well listening to this video and it's not even over
the eggs are so beatiful
mines c played on 1-1 of my first ever spelunky run so it’s the one i associate the mines with the most
Probably why I like Jungle B the most then
Hell's theme gets your blood pumping
36:02 Be wary of nostalgia
If a black market sounded like that I would shop there like its a walmart

Yeti's theme is my favorite.
I love the classic "soundblaster" type sound from this ost

23:24 good game
"Well, it was a good run."
Thank you, Spelunky
Rest in peace
Thank you!!!
First is my favorite.

Me entering the secret exit in the jungle: 13:59
Me realizing that i angered a shopkeeper before and theres tons of shopkeepers in there: 28:15
Spent a good portion of 8th grade playing this game. no regrets!
I love you thank you for this
I don't think I've ever heard the Jungle - Haunted music
Temple gold is awesome
I never played Spelunky, I've only heard good things about it. So I decided to bring this up while doing some pixel art, and WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME THIS WAS SUCH A JAM?!
play it dood
Title is my fave with mines egg
ice Caves are the best in my opinion especially the Easter Egg one
I wish the title music made it into spelunky 2’s title
Jungle C is amazing, sounds like DOOM Jazz
This sounds like something straight out of Sonic 2 or 3. Like some of the instruments sound identical to many instruments from Sonic games.
In fact, there's also a lot of Sonic 3D Blast in there!
They were probably going for a SioundBlaster/AdLib sound though.
I'm hearing a lot of Sonic too, as well as Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, old-school Zelda, etc. It's weird for a soundtrack to be this nostalgic despite being relatively new. 😲
@konakonaa Sticking with the FM stuff- Lots of PC98-esque stuff to my mind!
La nostalgie
bro the mines ee music sounds way better than just an egg, its fire

Angry shopkeeper is action B... and A...

You... You were in the tech rules discord weren't you? Well, you may not know me, but I remember you.
OOF Oofington i still have fnaf questions
hi
If Eirik Suhrke were to tell me that he didn't draw any inspiration from the various soundtracks of the Breath of Fire series, I wouldn't believe him.
Happy 2019! Who's ready for Spelunky 2!
Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
*When you realize that they needed more time*
I was ready...
Happy 2022
The Jungle B hits different
Damn right it does
Haunted castle is my favorite song
and the blackmarket
17:05 "Ice Caves - C" riff is very similar to Joe Satriani's "Echo"
I honestly like the music more than the game itself
Mines B is my jam!
I like all of the mines more than any other area... Probably because I hear it the most.
Same! I still don't make it out of the mines on a regular basis. Music is so good that I don't even care :P
I feel like jungle is actually easier than mines, because dart traps suck
Not really Tiki traps can be really annoying for me

Play it on 2x speed and your ears will be a happy boi
the mines b is my favorite
mine too
god i wish spelunky 2's music met spelunky hd's music standard
Absolutely
this is my only problem (and i mean my only problem, everything else is amazing) with spelunky 2, it’s music isn’t as good as HD’s

temple A and B are the best
I dont think ive ever gotten this theme out of my 7000 hours dumped into this game (12:11)
Cool
yung maestro nuff said xx
oooh ye
Jungle C is my fave
Temple - Egg sounds a bit like the airship theme from Mario 3 at the beginning
44:44 Ultra Egg
I didn't even notice because it's 15 seconds long lol. I added it to the description though -- 3 months later.
thank you
For those eggplant runs
I listen to this well I do dishes!!!
NICE
What exactly is Trial Nag, when does that play?
I believe it plays if you're playing the demo version of the game, when it is asking you to buy the full game.
@@NotoriousSpy it *nags* you to buy it
@@NotoriousSpynow I recognise it. Yes this is when it plays
The ice caves yeti is the greatest music ever made
i liked deathmatch melody the most
Rip im the only one who likes the mines songs.
Dynamic Flight i like them. :DDD
I love them musically, it's just that they've taunted me too many times after a great run and dying
Whats the difference between action A and B
I'm not entirely sure, actually
