In order to ensure that these levels weren't too jank, I beat all four levels back to back for each zone in the game (mines, jungle, ice caves, and temple).

This is probably the greatest custom map I've ever played. It had the perfect mix of speed and strategy, without being prohibitively difficult. Kudos to you, amazing level pack.
First time I’ve seen a Kaizo level described “not prohibitively difficult”
The web gun and boomerang was probably the most creative challenge I’ve seen in a spelunky custom level
I feel you've nailed what a kaizo level is all about, imo. It's not just a very difficult level for the sake of being difficult, there's a clockwork pattern to every action that looks as challenging as it is to play.

I mean, spelunkey is all about thinking fast and cheek-clenching platforming, so this is pretty cool.

Really expected it just to be that first level in the caves, and then it just continued. Incredible stuff.
Not only did you perfectly show what a kaizo Spelunky HD level can be but also taught be so much about the mechanics of the game, I never knew you could do such cool things with the web gun of all things or even the ball and chain!
This was fun to watch and made me laugh, the commentary was interesting too. Thanks for sharing this!

this is my first time seeing this game and i feel like i already love it, really glad i watched
very challenging platformer which it hides with its cute artstyle, this game is fun but man starting out its rough 😆

It's also a roguelike, where if you die, you start the whole game over, but Spelunky uses this well, because it has so many unique mechanics, surprisingly hard enemies, deadly traps and secrets that if you fail, it's not in vain, you have learned something and knowledge is really important here, I recommend going in mostly blind and trying to make sense of stuff by yourself!
And yeah, it's hard, hard to hell, so be ready to be patient with this title
It also has achievements that make it even worse, it took me like 70-80 hours to complete a certain achievement... you will know what I'm talking about if you care about them achievements
this gameplay is cracked. I will never be this good, but that donst make it any less entertaining to watch.

Thank you for the kind words. No plans for hell currently. I have enough leftover ideas to maybe fill one level, but all the best ones made it into the pack.

This pack was made with the Frozlunky level editor. It's an unofficial mod that ties into the game to control level generation (among other things). sashavol.github.io/Frozlunky/editor/

Nothing is stopping you. In fact there's a little easter egg room you can reach if you do. Of course if you die you would have to go all the way back through 3-4 to get it again.

What game is this, like ik it's Spelunky, but is it 2? Or HD? Cuz I have Spelunky on my ps4 and it doesn't look like this is this just another version of it
This is Spelunky HD, so the middle game in the series between Spelunky Classic and Spelunky 2. Not sure which one is on the PS4. Some graphics may look a bit off since the game wasn't really designed with custom levels in mind.

Oh huh, you're right about the download. The site must have gone down. As for applying the xml file, you first need to download Frozlunky and get it connected to the game. After that I remember it being pretty straightforward to open the editor and load the file, but I don't remember the exact steps.
@@Gliperal Damn, I was hoping I wasn't going to need Frozlunky. I don't use Windows, and I haven't found information about using it on GNU/Linux. I guess I'll try it myself through wine or Proton.
