How to Fix a Skipped Stitch - Upholstery Tips and Tricks

Have you ever had your sewing machine skip a stitch right when you finish that prefect seat cover or upholstery project? This can be really frustrating! Don’t worry. I’m going to show you an easy little trick to fix your skipped stitch so that you can salvage that project. You won’t even be able to see that it ever happened. All you will need is a needle and some thread. I also explain why this happens and what you should do to fix this problem so that it doesn’t happen in the future.

To remedy skipped stitches adjust the timing of the machine, which synchronizes the needle and bobbin shuttle. Also, make sure it’s clean, blow out any fabric dust that tends to build up by punching holes in material.

Very good advice!! If this had happened to me, I would have panicked, but with this method, it would not be a big problem. But, as you say, if we have the machine in working order, there will be no skipped stitches ;-)

Thanks for the advice that helps man. Mine keeps skipping stitches and it’s annoying. My tension is set right and everything and it still likes to skip. It’s an old machine though. I subscribed n it’s nice to see a guy explain a sewing problem, #mensewtoo

Use a #9 crochet hook to pull the thread through to the outer side.Skipping stitches clean your bobbin case area often,Use canned air.

So…. When you have a skipped stitch you don’t see until the leather is glued and fitted to the dashboard….. and it’s facing you above the gauge cluster. Tell me it’s repairable please lol
