    I’ve noticed that if you wax the thread and undo it from the spool and wind it again while waxing it and/or use use a thing called magnetic lubricator which is a thing you place on top of the sewing machine and as you see the thread goes through it and is lubricated a little bit ! those 2 simple things also help tremendously

    Thank you so much. This so good to know and little by little you are removing the magic and mystery of the sewing machine. Really Informative.

    Thanks for the video on this! I had to machine down the height of the bearing on my Juki Lu 563 to be able to move the bobbin down. I was still having a tight thread issue after modifying this. So I used 210 thread on the bobbin to give the lower thread more tension, in addition to moving the bobbin down. Worked perfect!

    Brilliant ! What so many have said it was too much thread for the mechanical parts to handle, turns out to be a bobbin spindle adjustment. Brilliant !

    The biggest issue that you will run into (with machines NOT originally designed for thicker thread) is the clearance between the presser foot throat plate and the tang from the bobbin case that holds the case from spinning under the throat plate . If you gradually open up that area you will eventually come to a happy medium that will work flawlessly. I have a Consew 226 and a Singer 111w154 . 92 used to be max . After some clearances fixed I can run 270 with a 92 lower .
    The lower thread issue almost always requires a tension adjustment on the bobbin holder to be proper .

    Thank you for this video. After watching your video of the fancy stitching and the piping in the seat I was curious if an ordinary house sewing machine could do this? I didn't really find an answer on the Internet. So I am very happy you show this!!!

    I had a consew 225 which is basically the 226 without reverse. I sold it and bought a consew 1255 so I could sew with thicker threads with no issue. I kinda wish I kept it, if I had kept experimenting with thread tension. But having a larger bobbin is nice not having to change as frequently

    Thanks.. very helpful.. having this issue with my 112 w115 Singer. thread sounds like it is pinching there on boath bobbins . It was from a swap meet.. so many things were out of adjustment.. this is the last problem

    You can also shim up the throat plate with thin washers and not have to worry about throwing off the timing.

  • @YvesFlawinne
    @YvesFlawinne Рік тому

    As a beginner i made te mistake thinking i always had to use the same thread in the bobbin as on top. Tried with thinner thread and it worked. I have a Eagle (Typical) GC20606-1 and it handles the thick thread good. did not have to do anything with the bobbin height but my machines allows up to 9 mm stitches so i think it is well adapted for thicker thread.

    Be aware when you do this because your hoock maybe worn out and the bobbin case is going to pop out I had issues like that just be careful because when bobbin case pops out it's going to make big scratch to throat plate or needle plate

    What cause the thread to twist fray and snag underneath the work piece also the twisting thread can be seen on top when needle leaves the leather,
    this s happening on my vintage singer class 7

    I have T-135 and T90/Tex92 but stitching is not to my liking. I'll need to do more testing with different needles. Question: is T270 twice as thick as T135? Thanks

    I have a Consew 206rb4. My bobbin faces to the side. Can I adjust mines to use this thread?

    • @jimbob3708
      @jimbob3708 2 роки тому

      I have a 206RB5, effectively identical machine. They *should* accept the thread, but I'm going to adjust my bobbin holder on the shaft, and I'll get back with you

    • @jimbob3708
      @jimbob3708 2 роки тому

      I'm back, ours should be able to use the 270 without that kind of adjustment. I also tried to adjust it.. it's a little different.
      Mario is exactly right in the video. Our machines just don't adjust that much in that way.

    Good idea …. Your upper tension is threaded incorrectly….. thread shouldn’t go over the post on your tension disks… the post is there only to keep the tension disks from spinning

    • @derekc423
      @derekc423 Рік тому

      I have seen multiple seasoned experts showing that you should go around the tensioner and go around that post then back, so that is how I have been doing it.
      But I just took a look at the original manual for my consew 227, and sure enough, you are right, it says the thread should just go between the tensioner disks over the top half and not wrap around at all.
      I'm thinking the around the post thing must just be some common technique that people use for thread that is too fine to get good tension or just an incorrect method that has spread for some reason.
