Finally!!! An upload for stitching a sunflower granny square that does not require a magic circle ring thingy. Thank you. Great tutorial. Patricia-South Padre Island, Texas
Thank you for this 🥰 I made a border around it with sc and in every corner I put 5 sc, it worked out great and gave the square more pointy corners 🥰 I think I am going to make them into a sweater 😍
Firstly, tfs this tutorial its very easy and pretty. I had to frog back to the first triple corner right after the 2 CHS because you didn't tell us to do the 2nd 3 triple crochets into the same hole. The 2nd corner is when you told us about that. And I'm glad I caught it. I hope my comment can help someone else if their square turns out not so square. 😂 Crocheting is very confusing as a beginner.
So. Beautiful design. Totally didn’t even make it past the slipknot because I spent a few minutes making the fastest slipknot I have ever made using whatever technique you did that I have never seen before. It was literally a 2 second slipknot. 🤯🤯🤯
I’ve been harassing my ma to make me a sunflower beanie for so long but we couldn’t find a good tutorial but she LOVES this one so much it’s so easy to follow!!! Thank you so much 😊
Thank you for the pattern! Looks super cute I used a 6 super bulky yarn and used a magic ring for the center instead of a chain, in case anyone else was having this problem
guys if you end up w/ less than 16 petals after the bud try doing a magic circle to make the bud instead and then sl st, idk why but that worked for me instead of the chain 4 sl st method
That was so amazing and easy and adorable!!! I love mine, and I think I can do even better next time! Thank you so much for helping me make my first ever (design) granny square! These are gonna make a beautiful bag as a gift for my mom for her birthday! 😊
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I'm new to crochet and I desperately want to make a cute sunflower blanket 🌻 the tutorial was so so helpful and easy to follow. The first square was a disaster, but the second time around i found it much easier to follow your instructions haha so thank you again! 😊
Thanks for this tutorial, had to rewatch that part for the big petals each time making the petals but turned out nice, tho I didn’t tie the knots correctly when changing colors, and stretched it too much and it pulled apart :/. Will definitely try again though, thank you!
the first one i made was cool and now i’ve made a few and keep ending up with the wrong numbers- i get my 15 brown and then 16 puffs, but then the next one i seem to get wrong which messes up the order of the green outside :0 idk what i’m doing wrong ahah- i’ll keep trying tho! super cute. how do you get your chain 2 to look clean with the rest? mine seem to stick out and look like an attempted puff that i didn’t finish or something, and switching which side i crochet around them doesn’t help.
I want to work on a project that involves granny squares, and I would love to use this pattern! But can someone please let me know what size does it end up being?
Pretty sure I’m doing something wrong. Every time I do it, I end up needing one extra stitch at the end to finish with the last triple. So sad I can’t get it right
How big is your finished square? Is it about a 5 inch (12.7cm) square when done? Im using a 5.00mm (size H hook) just wondering if youre using a smaller hook maybe if i need to make a second round in green to achieve a 5 inch square😊
Ah this can happen! I usually find that a bigger hook can help or usually the petals flatten themselves out when you complete the rest of the square :)
Thank you! Ah this can happen, I've made a tutorial on how to flatten out your squares if it is at all helpful 😊 ua-cam.com/video/ZJ7visGktRo/v-deo.html

I haven't made it yet but just got worsted weight yarn to make so apparently I'll be finding out. I don't know what size hook I'm going to try yet. How did yours come out. It's been seven months since you commented. So I thought you might have made it by now.
Hey, would these be the same size as a solid granny square? I want to create a project that has these and solid granny squares and I'm not sure if it would work, I assume it would but you can never be to sure.
If you use the same number of rows, I would imagine that you would get a similar size but it's hard to guess without actually doing it I'm afraid! I would recommend testing it out and then you can amend your solid square as needed by adding/removing rows, or adjusting your tension.
Hi Michelle! I don't I'm afraid, but I've had a look online if I had to make a guess it would be 'Olive', 'Tangerine' and 'Chocolate Brown' Ricorumi cotton DK :)
If you pinch the bottom of the loops with your left middle finger and thumb it’s much easier to pull though :) (so hold up closer than normal with your left hand)
I’m new to crochet and I really want to make these but can is it possible to make them bigger by using thicker yarn and a bigger hook? :) thanks for the tutorial!!
Yes absolutely! you can always increase the size by adding an extra row around the outside as well, just following the same rules for the corners :) Best of luck on your crochet journey!!

This tutorial is amazing!!! It’s so easy to follow and I’m going to use it to make a cute tote bag! Thank you
Thank you so much that's great to hear! Would love to see this finished result!! :)
How much yarn did it take to make your tote?
That’s what I’m doing right now!
I’m later than you and plan to make my daughter a sweater using blue in place of the green😀 Did you make your overalls? I’d love to see them😊
I'm making a cardigan for myself with purple instead of the green

Good spot! Thanks for sharing, learning to crochet can be a real challenge! I hope your project turns out well 😊
So to make a corner at the end we have to make 3 triple crochets two times in the same hole?

I totally didn’t do the measurements wrong and make it a Granny triangle
lmao same
do we know how to get it not to turn into a granny triangle
I did that too so I just turned it into a heart by tieing the top so it scrunches
@@haleyrobinson9332 so i figured out that you have to put the triple crochet in the same stich

Great tutorial got it first try! Super simple to follow with straight forward instructions
such a good tutorial!! thank you, I just crocheted my first ever granny square! :)
I usually watch the tutorials with out working the project and the on third time in working while I watch. This works well for me.
I do that too. Watch the video a few times and then crochet along
Thank you for the pattern! Looks super cute
I used a 6 super bulky yarn and used a magic ring for the center instead of a chain, in case anyone else was having this problem
Thank you so much for this tutorial.. I know I’m a little late but I’m going to use this to make overalls, they’re going to be so cute! Thank you!
Ohhh that's a brilliant idea! Love it, good luck with your project ☺️

for the middle u put 15 but how did you get 16 for little peddles??????
ok this was awesome. I just have one problem. Mine won't lay flat. What did I do wrong?
Try blocking it
Edit: OMG IM SO SORRY I JUST REALIZED THIS COMMENT WAS FROM NEARLY A YEAR AGOOO 😭😭😭😭

Any advice on outer yellow peddles making a funnel making the center like cave in. Before I put the green outer rim I can't get the circle to be flat.
Hi! How do you finish up the loose strands at the end after fastening off? When I cut it after the fastening off it becomes loose
What size hook do you use for this sunflower?
Im new to crocheting. How do you get 16 of the first row of yellow petals when you only did 15 previous round?
im also confused about that
Hiya! Chain 2 counts as a double crochet!
Which kind of yarn you use
I'm so confused you said 15 for the brown but 16 for the yellow how did you do that
Nvm I fix it
WHAT HOW PLEASE EXPLAIN IM SO CONFUSED
@@faithgardner1899 HOW I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM

how are you supposed to get 16 of those yellow puff thingys with 15 of the brown ones
I'm having the same issue 😢

Pretty sure I’m doing something wrong. Every time I do it, I end up needing one extra stitch at the end to finish with the last triple. So sad I can’t get it right
when i do 16 puffs i end up with 17 on the second row of yellow so i just cut it down to 15 puffs... i hope thats ok?

Just curious about what size square this comes out to be? Thank you this is soo cute! ^-^🌻🌸
Thank you! About 9cm 😊
I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong because I do 15 of the double crochets for the brown bit but then i don’t have enough room for 15 petals :(
Are you sure you aren't doing uk sizing? double crochets are different in both Uk and Us terms
Hi!! Thank you so much for this video, super helpful!! I was wondering if I could use it for my bucket hat and sell the hat? :))
Absolutely! Thank you very much for asking, good luck with your project:)
can I do a magic circle instead?
Yes absolutely
I cannot get my initial circle to look like yours 😭😭
Hi! I was wondering what I'm doing wrong, because when I followed your instructions the 'petals' kept curling upward. How do I solve that?
Ah this can happen! I usually find that a bigger hook can help or usually the petals flatten themselves out when you complete the rest of the square :)
@@threadmakerstudio oh, thanks so much! It works now

How did yours come out. It's been seven months since you commented. So I thought you might have made it by now.

Ricorumi cotton DK :)
@@threadmakerstudio thanks for replying i didnt think you would since this video is a year old
@@zoewoods1108 No worries! I always keep an eye on comments because it makes me happy to see people making these things :)
I can’t understand how to get 16 petals with only 15 stitches on the brown?
The chain 2 at the beginning counts as a stitch so you have 16 double crochets in total in the ring.
Hey, would these be the same size as a solid granny square? I want to create a project that has these and solid granny squares and I'm not sure if it would work, I assume it would but you can never be to sure.

If I want this bigger like way bigger how would I do that?
You can increase your yarn weight and hook size for a bigger square
Is it 16puffs or 14?
Hole? Is that the stitch or the space?
Space

this tutorial is god but why is my square at the end is hdc not tripple double crochet? i already count itright tho plss help help :D
Right ??? I'm confused as well. I've went over and over and somethings not coming out right. 😳😩
Is it only me that when having 7 loops on the hook i can’t pull the yarn through all of them?
If you pinch the bottom of the loops with your left middle finger and thumb it’s much easier to pull though :) (so hold up closer than normal with your left hand)
What's the name of your yarn, please?
Ricorumi cotton dk
hi what brand of yarn / type of yarn is that
I used Ricorumi 100% cotton DK yarn :)
My circle keeps curling up .. it's not flat????. 😬
If you keep going and complete the square I find that it usually flatterns out! Otherwise your tension may be a little tight ☺️
Mine keeps bowling. What am I doing wrong?
Try a bigger hook to loosen your tension
