Hi Jeff, I just wanted to share that it was a success when I wrapped a plank with used black socks. The roots of the green pinnatum latched on and pinnations/ fenestrations started around 1-2 ft of growth. The plant was grown outdoors with lots of light on the covered balcony. 😊
@@y0nd3r the plant grew on top of the sock which was tightly tied to the plank using garden twine and roots adhered on top of the black sock. I imagine a thick towel on pvc/ plastic sheet would do much better but more expensive.
Love your plants,iv just started putting my plants on to wood as i have been struggling with moss poles and find it easier to deal with wood great video
Hi Jeff. I think it was me who suggested Jade scindapsus on plank. I started mine on paint mixing stick. It was like that for 1.5 years. It was doing great but got to tall and I put it on wood plank. It's funny, it was pice from my son's bed . Since then I had to cut it, it overgrown plank. It's gorgeous plant and I think you will be happy with him growing up on plank😊
If you want to change planks, change to a moss pole, or revert, how easily do the aerial roots detach? I’m torn, if I train everything up miss pokes it’s a lot more maintenance than planks I assume, but I’d love to see giant leaves… sigh, I guess I’ll mix it up and play
This is probably my favorite update video. I’m happy for you and your progress. I have albos, aurea monstera and all I care about right now is getting my Pothos to get giant leaves.
Thank you Jeff. Your plants are beautiful. As you were talking about which plants on what plank I’m looking at some of my plants thinking that I really need to get some of them started on planks. 🌷💚🙃
@@EverythingPlants My chiapense, my manjula, my adansonia, my Thai constellation, my silver sword, my epipremnum variegata, just to name a few. And boy was it hard to name them.🌷💚🙃
The Marble Queen is just gorgeous! One of my favorite plants when they climb & size up. I haven't tried planks yet but so cool how they grab onto the plank.
My adansonii outgrew it's tiny wood stake and continued on up the mirror. I have to peel it off in order to clean the mirror. It's about to outgrow the mirror so I'm going to need to get a big long piece of bamboo or something as I don't want it attaching to the wall itself. Those little feet are like suction cups!
I have one of my golden pothos in my bathroom and it's crawling up the wall all on its own. The roots that grab the wall are so weird but cool looking. It's not going to be happy when I need to take it down.
I had a philodendron Brazil do the same thing. It was on a plant shelf and somehow it found its way onto my wall and climbed up to the ceiling. I ended up removing that one but it is reaching out in search of something to grab onto again lol. Plants are so cool!
YES! There it is! That Chiapense (Syngonium) is beautiful! It’s because of you that I have one. Actually, 2-one is the frosted heart-truly my favorite plant of all! Thanks for showing it. I’m about to repot mine today to a moss pole and an orchid pot. Have you heard there’s talk of reclassification to a philodendron? GREAT VIDEO ❤
I've decided you need a small lazy Susan, like for cake making, then you place each plant you're working on or showing on it and can easily rotate it! I'm very good at spending your money 🤣
I have most of my plants, especially the tall ones on lazy Susan's for that very purpose. Easy to give the plants even light exposure without physically moving them just to do that. Awesome idea.😊
My global green pothos does like your Manjula cutting. I've heard they're very similar. I wonder if sealing the cut with wax would encourage root growth better 🤔
I will occasionally spray the entire plant down, mainly to clean the leaves, but you do not need to keep it wet in order from them to grow. The roots will naturally attach and start growing upwards.
I wonder if grow lights work like reptile uv lights or tanning beds, the closer the light/lamp to the subject, the stronger the rays? I’m afraid of wasting how light if I set it too far away I feel like it doesn’t put out as much from further away. What’s everyone’s opinion?
I primarily buy from a local shop called the Little Big Plant Company. The other shop is from Vancouver and obviously shipped to my location. Both stores have absolutely gorgeous plants
Hello, how long does it take to grow one fullsize leaf at this point? My cutting started to grow bigger leaves very early and it takes like 2 weeks from start to fullsize. (Sry my english) I have it on mosspole and it grows up without any help atm.
Can't you air layer the bottom of the plants without leaves to get roots then plant deeper with a pot extender or a larger pot? If not you can sing "shake shake shake shake shake shake shake your booty" to the naked ones and shame them. Yes, my insomnia was bad last night!
@@EverythingPlants I wanted to know the same! Was hoping you would show that balancing aspect of potting/repotting at some point. Trial and error, I guess! ❤️🍀

The plant is growing through the sock and adhering itself to the plank?

Yeah so far so good. Thanks for watching Lisa

Plants are thriving on the plank! I use moss poles, but got a couple planks to try. Thanks for sharing Jeff!

Thanks Perla. That is actually the design I had made for me for merch!
Very nice!!
Thanks!
Ok Jeff time for an automatic sprinkler system? Or some sort of watering system. No more root rot ever!
That would be amazing! Haha

That's awesome Eric. I'm asking not sure how big the leaves will get but I'm just happy that it will grow on the plank

Hey Becky. This is my favorite syngonium by far and I'm so glad to hear you now have one as well!
Wow. Could under watering have that big of an impact on leaf size?
Your planks look amazing! I have 2 plants on planks, they are just starting to grow. Haven’t attached yet!
Which ones do you have on there?
Your plants are thriving on the planks, gotta love those little feet!
They are so neat lol. Thanks so much for watching!
I really love the plank idea. A nice piece of wood looks SO much better than those horrible store bought moss poles.
I don’t know why I didn’t think of just using something else 😂
Yes! There are many great attractive options out there
Bro, try plastic pots. Terra cotta sucks moisture out. That’s why they’re all so dry.
I've decided you need a small lazy Susan, like for cake making, then you place each plant you're working on or showing on it and can easily rotate it! I'm very good at spending your money 🤣
Jeff, I second this opinion! 😊 I found one at a thrift store for $2.

+1 for this!
Plants on Planks. Sounds like a death metal band for plants 🤘🏼
Cool video 👊🏼
Hahaha....thanks man!
yellow flame needs direct sun for the yellow streaks to appear
Thanks for the tip!!!
Do you water your planks and how do you do that. Do you use the sprayer?
Hey Karen. Here you go! ua-cam.com/video/5JzmLRmIh9I/v-deo.html
What's holding the stems onto the plank there,is that velcro?? Thanks.
Plant velcro tape from the dollar store
Thanks for sharing. Your plants look good.
Thanks for watching!
What is that horizontal light bar in the background?
My global green pothos does like your Manjula cutting. I've heard they're very similar. I wonder if sealing the cut with wax would encourage root growth better 🤔
Have you tried letting the cutting dry and make a callous over the stem cutting. That help stops rotting in most cases. Then put in water to root.
I'm still not too sure why it didn't grow any more roots.... It should have definitely grown a bit but for some reason it didn't
Put it back in water for a longer time. Don’t plant until there are a lot of roots.
👍
Hi from Montreal!! Thanks for showing us your collection!!! I would sooo want to have a collection like yours.❤❤
It takes time.....you'll get there one day! Thanks for watching and hello from Regina, Saskatchewan
Is the hawaiian pothos Has amazing color , So when the plant reaches the top of the plank, do you just keep cutting it off ?
Do you keep the planks wet to encourage the roots to grow into it?
I will occasionally spray the entire plant down, mainly to clean the leaves, but you do not need to keep it wet in order from them to grow. The roots will naturally attach and start growing upwards.
What type of wood are your planks?
This ones are pine, but cedar is best!
Absolutely stunning, love your channel, what compost do you use please
Thank you fine sir... I don't use compost. I use just promixes tropical plant soil with orchid mix.... About 50/50
@Everything Plants ok I'm in the uk so I don't think I can get that here, love your channel fantastic

Good luck with your propagation. I think mine will be going on a moss pole soon.
And I don't have a dark form right now
Love this so much! Really hoping mine can get big leaves like this. How long have you had the pothos on planks?
I think I started this project about a year ago.....
Cute picture at the end! 🌿🐾😀

Just curious, what will you do with your manjula cutting that wasn’t thriving?
Back in water!

Try Kieki paste on the leafless nodes? 🤷🏻♀️ curious if it actually works don’t know if I spelt it correctly.
Someone else just told me about this. Unfortunately it says unavailable on amazon right now. I'd love to try this as well

i am confused....i have plants on a moss pole and their aerial roots struggle to penetrate ...how do aireal roots penetrate a piece of hard wood?
So which is better for Pothos, a plank or a moss pole? I have two Pothos that I would like to start growing vertically soon. ❤❤
@Shelly Webster - maybe try one of each?
😭 ughhh I've purposely underwatered all winter trying to avoid root rot😢 my money tree isn't looking too good . Better check it for root rot😢
Yeah the roots actually get too dry to the point where they die and then when you water the plant the roots end up, just turning to mush.
Your cebublue on the plank is gorgeous🤩
