It’s an unbelievably strange experience to watch Evangelion for the first time. I find that it’s best to watch it at night during the winter. I’m not sure why, but that is the prime time to watch it. Don’t look for spoilers. Don’t watch explanation videos. See.

Evangelion is and will forever be one of the weirdest experiences in my life, i really didn’t knew what to expect from it and it still left me thinking about it, it sometimes creeps me out just how unexplainable is to tell someone what Evangelion is about.
I just finished watching the series + EoE today and i still feel "traumatized" by the show, but in a positive way. I'm gonna copy my comment from another video because i'm so interested:
I L O V E D EoE. Just finished watching the 1995 series + eoe today and after 2 hours of research for answers for the ending and the connection between the author and the opera only made me appreciate it more. To me, this series encapsulates a very creepy, blasphemous concept of psychologic and cosmic horror. The whole "human instrumentality project" basically represents how the attempt of humans to be like god has a very dark turn, as if humanity crossed a point that should never be crossed. I love the visuals (even tho some are intentionally dragged on due to budget limits) and the brutality of it + all the mindfuck scenes. This anime was never about Mechas. More like deep existential crisis type of stuff, but in a horror-ific way.
It is indeed unexplainable, It's an experience you have to witness yourself.
I just love telling people "Its a giant mecha series", then 1 week later you see the horror in their faces after figuring it was indeed, not a mecha anime at all.

I watched Evangelion for the first time in the middle of summer. I live in the countryside and summer here is very calm, there is only the burning sun, crickets/cicadas and fields and forests as far as the eye can see. Every year, every time I hear the crickets and the hot summer afternoons return, I think of Evangelion.
