@@bananadictator3032 as someone who has never seen the show, can you explain to me what exactly im failing to understand in these scenes? Shinji gets angry about these Eva Series killing Asuka, yet he loses that right to anger when he couldve helped her if he really gave a damn. It feels like a useless character meant to be useless until the plot decided he should care enough to really do something. But that is all i got from this scene. Again, never watched this
@@spiderfingers2113 You should watch it lol. But to answer your question, all the characters in NGE have pretty glaring character flaws and they all struggle with them throughout the show. Without spoiling too much, Shinji’s deal is he never does things because he wants to. He goes through life taking the path of least resistance to get people to like him. That’s why he’s essentially useless, but to appreciate it fully it’s better to get more context which the show provides
One of the things I love most about Evangelion is how agile and swift all the Evas are, yet you can still notice that there is great weight in motion going on.
It's something I've always respected about the series despite not being too big a fan of it. Universal consistancy like that can sell so much and does wonders for the setting.
@@budgroweryt9947 depends on the material they're made of, obviously it was some ultra advanced alien shiit since they are inspired by "angels" in the series, which included 4D shapeshifting cubes, 2D entities, beings that used themselves as kinetic orbital bombs, etc.
@ESPEDIPADAS ORSCOIFADHHEJSJSWJWIWIEPINGES lol it’s like p4 animation where the personas are three feet away from the users at 75% of the times And then there is sees and phantoms who hurt themselves to summon one so I guess it’s equal
It's supposed to be a minimal thing so users can know what's being damaged. The thing is that Asuka here just achieves godhood and becomes one with her unit
In that time she stood alone against all the newer model Eva's from the USA and destroyed all of them in minutes. I think that makes Asuka one of the best mecha pilots ever. Unfortunately they regenerated and ate her and her Eva.
Back then, Asuka was my most hated character😂. Now that I'm watching 8t as adult, even her attitude is kinda annoying, her being a brave one makes her the coolest girl in the show.
Heart got ripped out of my chest when I watched this the first time. Has to be one of the most brutal death scenes in anime, not just in terms of gruesomeness but from a psychological standpoint of the characters. I've never seen a show like this where you can like and hate almost all of the characters at the same time, but I guess that's what makes it so good.
Bro ,she won't die At the end She'll come back For three minutes where she'll say disgusting to shinji as it would be her first time accepting that she loves him lol. And until that she'll be in coma. She and shenji were the last two to survive
No it’s shinjis fault. He became full on coward and his inaction and complete resistance to act got kusuragi and aska killed and ended the world. Worst ending ever and completely unredeemable shut character. Like he’s actually disgusting to me. Fuck what people say about the ending being so philosophical or something he’s despicable. Then choking aska at the end in a fit of incel rage. Disturbing… idk why the creator threw his whole series in the garbage at the end. You can tell from his interviews he hates his own success and his own series.
for those that still need explaining; asuka, just before this battle, had gained new hope in herself after spending several weeks hopeless and bedridden by associating her eva’s AT fields with instead, her long awaited mother’s love (she was SUUPER screwed up from what happened to her but thats another discussion for another time). by gaining this hope and seeing her mother in Unit-02, she harnessed an EXTREMELY high sync ratio with her eva, allowing her to accomplish even greater feats in the 5 minutes of battery she had to fight all 9 Mass Produced Evas. she “killed” nearly all of them, so she thought. SEELE crafted 9 replicas of Spears of Longinus, which harness the power to pierce ANY A.T. Field, and believably pierce through an Eva’s armor to inflict damage directly to the pilot. her high sync ratio is also a cause of this- so when Unit-02’s guts start getting pulled out and sprawled out.. you get the idea. you can actually see the HUGE amounts of dark, viscous blood oozing out of her left eye at 2:28 . it should be mentioned that Evas are essentially HUGE and powerful humans. all of that armor serves to hinder its own free will and movement and to abide by the Pilot’s movements. one of the most heart-wrenching scenes is when Unit-02 begins going berserk, acting on a will of its own and starts screaming in agonizing suffering. people at NERV stationed in the Terminal Dogma can barely watch, and even start saying “ASUKA, STOP! PLEASE!” Unit-02 was still trying to get up to fight, which it could’ve, hadn’t it already been disemboweled and pierced through the head. but with its guts and blood staining everything around it, all it could do was reach up into the sky; its final attempt of retaliation.. only to be pierced by all 9 Spears of Longinus replicas, leading to Asuka’s entire arm being severed, and killing her.
@@solidsnape2186 SEELE wants puppets, tools they can use. They don't want individuals with a mind of their own, because they're always a threat. What made them want to kill her wasn't the strength, it was her free will they couldn't risk.
@@solidsnape2186 asuka would've interrupted the human instrumentality project (the third impact) which required shinji to be the vessel for, so SEELE wanted to destroy her AND her eva before she found out that she needed to destroy each Mass-Produced Eva's cores in order to kill them (which all harbored S2 engines, which meant that they didn't need a battery unlike asuka's eva) you could say in theory, yes, that asuka at some point could have found a way to go berserk and begin killing the M-P Eva cores, which would halt the progress human instrumentality project. unfortunately, SEELE came prepared with their own Spear of Longinus replicas in order to incapacitate her before she could reach that point.. of course, she did eventually go berserk, but it was too late.. her eva had already been pierced and disemboweled by SEELE.
At first I didn’t understand why she was screaming in so much pain, but the I realized that the mech is technically connected to her nervous system. Holy crap, when the mech got its guts ripped out, I can’t imagine how much pain she was in.
not even that, when the spears hit the eva's hand and eye, since her sync rate was so high, it physically damaged her eye and hand. thats why her arm is split in half. thankfully her sync rate was low enough during the guts part that it didn't physically rip her guts out (or it could be that the suit was containing it, you decide)
@@scribbles1424 let's ask some folks from the past, say, in a Roman coliseum having the guts chewed on by a bear, "SIR! How are you feeling right now?" -ancient Roman Asuka screams and flails around- "And there you have it folks. Good riddance."
both the jap and english VA's were incredibly talented to do this film's script justice. Its actually bloody hard to do a true blood curdling scream like that.
@@TheStoso2even actors can have a tough time making a very realistic-sounding scream when not faced with something that can genuienly make them hurt, scared, angry, etc.
You have to give her props Asuka nearly won if it wasnt for the Battery Life, the angels breaking her AT Field, the angels regeneratiing, and them all jumping her at once
i remember as a kid i was watching this with some friend "bro its going to be epic!" then the eva 02 being ripped apart and all of us were like lifeless on the couch. weak in the knees etc. like WTF we're watching?? lol man those are the days
I honestly think the most tragic part of this is that she was truly, seriously whooping those things' asses with style and fury but it amounted to literally nothing
The other side wasn't playing fair. If that had been a standard angel fight, Asuka would've handed its ass to it. Even with the multiple units, she was still winning. But Longinus spears made it unfair. No way anyone was going to win after they pulled that trick out of the hat. She was doomed to fail, but got so damn close anyways.
This scene always makes me cry, maybe because I see myself in Asuka. Seeing her regain her confidence and kick ass only for her effort to be in vain, and she dies in such a horrible way too. I get more upset seeing her try to get up because I just want her to win so badly! 💔
I’ve never watched any of this series, but this scene out of context is extremely gut wrenching to watch. That first scream of pain kept me up at night after seeing this
you really need to sit down and watch the series. Just do it all in chronological order, anime series, then EoE, then the rebuilds if you want more, rewatch something if you don't really get it, theres also heaps of youtubers who break down the lore aswell if you need it.
I've just noticed that since Asuka is synced 100% with her eva, the injuries actually physically happened to her, and the blood pouring out of her eye Now im completely fucking terrified of this scene
the physical injuries are caused by the artificial lances. as seen when unit-02 gets disemboweled but she is only grabbing her stomach in pain afterwards.
@@someasiandude4797 Yeah, since her eye and arm have the same injuries as the Eva, it’s likely that her organs are being horribly ripped apart, and that her suit is the only thing keeping them from spilling out.
@@christiantaylor1495 In order to work the Evangelions, they pilots have to connect their nervous systems to it. While this means that the pilot can control it better, it also means that they feel or receive any damage taken by the Eva. In this scene, Asuka is very synced with her Eva. And this leads to two moments where she takes the same damage that the Eva does. First is when the Lance of Longinus stabs Unit 02 through the face. We see Asuka scream in pain when it happens, but in a later cut to her, we see that she is bleeding heavily from her eye. This shows her taking the same damage as the Eva. At the end of the fight, Asuka’s arm gets split in half, again like Unit 02. We see the Mass Production Evas ripping into 02’s abdomen and devouring its organs. Asuka is shown to, at the very least, feel this pain as well (shown by her holding her belly and writhing in pain). I think it’s likely that she also had her own viscera ripped apart.
In the Rebuild timeline Asuka dies while testing the new Evangelion, the Asuka with the eyepatch was an angel, in End of Evangelion Asuka dies, or at least is in agony while the 3rd Impact starts, so she was taken to the giant ball of human souls, and could return to earth after Shinji canceled the whole thing

I cried when I was a little kid watching this. Traumatized me for a bit, but now that I’m older I just appreciate this masterpiece. Edit: The scene before this when she is still under the water in her mech and the camera just slowly zooms while she whispers “I don’t wanna die” over and over is such a claustrophobic and strangely anxiety inducing moment.
@@Nil-pb7sf I was like 7 at the time so I had no idea what he was doing lol, a few years later I realized it.. My parents never would have let me watch it had they realized what content was in it, they just saw it and assumed it was a “action cartoon about robots”
Fun fact: In a movie called One Our Photo starring the late Robin Williams... a kid brings Robin Williams an Evangelion toy, which happens to be one of the Eva Series. And then the kid said this, "It's a good guy, it can fly and it has a silver sword that can kill bad guys." 😂😂
I believe this scene hits so hard mainly because its the last Eva battle of the original series. Shinji really doesn't get his moment of glory in battle because his Eva was crucified immediately. In my mind, watching Asuka battle the 9 Evas is like watching the last stand in the fight against Instrumentality. As far as the whole lore goes, it seems that Misato was simply far too late in discovering the truth. She had barely found out about the end goal of Instrumentality and already the final pieces were set in place. Her last ditch effort was to at least get the Eva pilots(Asuka & Shinji) inside their Evas plugs. Although she was counting on Shinji, she also had the heart to think of Asuka's safety despite her inoperative sync. rate. It was established earlier in the series that the Eva plug was the absolute safest place to be in the case of a worst case scenario situation. This action of course proved to be in vain because Unit 02 was ultimately defeated, however it is still is some what hopeful because it shows that despite how hard life had become after the 2nd impact, there was still people willing to fight to the death in order to keep their individuality. The struggle against Seele's Evas also is very very representative of the real fight against the void. In real life humans are only given a certain amount of years until we're forced into the next stage of existence by the means of death. The limited time we're given almost forces us to live in anger, however it is wonderful the pleasures in life that keep humanity from going off the edge. Asuka's fight is the personification of that very rage.
and after instrumentality she decided she wanted to live again... that's why I love her... not everyone can deal with absolute defeat and even death and still continue, iconic, great, Asuka.
True. Asuka fall in the series is worse then Shinji, she had it so bad also or even worse then him. Yet, she regain her confidance, became a excelent student, was the most "normal" of the 3 pilots, just with during the series been kept down and humiliated time and time again, no one to confort her, destroying all her trust in herself. When she regains her confidence, "this" happens. Damn. But even so, she was the first human to come back. I am sure the rest will also come, Misato was always against instrumentality, and always showed a great will to live despite her "issues". I just wish they would had shown a official panel of them all back together gain.
I just want to know who sent her into battle alone? That’s a death wish if I’ve ever seen any. But it’s impressive that she felt all that damage and still put up a great fight.
Seele sent in their Mass Production Evas to attack NERV, the only thing Nerv had to defend themselves from them was another Eva. Unit 0 was destroyed and Shinji was being Shinji and having a mental breakdown and refused to get into Unit 1. Also, the Mass Production Eva’s a far superior to the units at NERV. Being equipped with S2 engines, completely eliminating the power cable. Dummy Plugs to replace the emotionally unstable teen pilots used for NERV Evas and mocks of the Spear of Longinus. They were essentially everything the NERV Evas were but better. Asuka was doomed from the very beginning. I personally blame Shinji for Asuka’s fate. If he had gotten into Unit 1 sooner and helped Asuka then maybe she would still be alive. I believe Shinji even stars this in End of Evangelion.
@@hugobaba4414 yeah asuka survived. Seems like a similar situation with akame ga kill anime how they killed off a few characters who were supposed to have survived in the manga.
What I'm gathering is that with her full sync with the Eva, she was the most powerful being in the vicinity. But the Lance confounded that. At 0:25 she became a human in a hunk of metal infused with flesh. Surrounded by eldritch abominations hellbent on enforcing her demise. This is panic, frustration, despair, and rage. Pure fear.
I watched this whole anime with no background knowledge and went from "oh wow, a cool anime about robots fighting monsters" to "WhAt ThE FucK". It's a masterpiece
@@PanMeansBread She was definitely dead, what the hell? Human Instrumentality just merges the soul, so dying and not dying doesn't matter, and souls can still get a body of itself as we saw when Shinji just imagined himself in Unit-01 after the Lelliel fight, even the Unit transformed into Reis and Shinji still managed to get his consciousness together out of the LCL Fanta Sea.
I mean Suzuhara survived his Eva being completely torn apart, even after the entry plug was destroyed. We don’t even see her entry plug destroyed, so the worst that happened is the excruciating pain and psychological damage… it’s entirely possible that her physical body was unscathed by that.
her arm literally got split in half inside the plug I think they were suggesting she wouldn't just receive some surface pain in the eva anymore, but would actually get the injuries like the volley of spears after
2:27 if you look close enough, you can see the blood coming out from her eye because of that first lance, and next her arm got split in half too. I didn't watch this whole series, so im not 100% sure, but i can guees, she completely die on that scene. But its an anime, everything can happen right.
If the attack is caused by a spear of Longinus the damage is reflected into the body of the eva pilot. There's also the fact that at this moment her connection was above 100%.
Idk man, I see blood like liquid dripping from her eye? Longinus and +100% synchro rate means it probably does happen physically. Tho I'm not sure why she didn't die with the brain being pierced. Maybe the battery power dropped to zero right before the brain is damaged? Anyways, she probably won't feel anything afterwards, including the Eva torn apart. So really just the eye pierce. Although, her arm got split in the next scene. Then the Eva got pierced with a bunch or lances. Not sure why that's the case though. Maybe her arm got split in that moment, but the Eva stopped again before she could feel again.
I was rewatching the movie and then when I saw this scene 2:27, I just realized that was blood flowing from her eyes holy shit can't really imagine the pain shes been through 😭
It honestly feels sick and perverted, in a way, on the part of the director and/or writer, especially when combined with the hospital scene. I'll try the show, and avoid this trash.
This was such a great turn in the movie, and I was really rooting for Asuka since this felt so hopeful. I was left feeling really sad during the scene where we watch her lose.
Asuka can feel EVERYTHING happening to her regardless of each injury. However when the lance corpus (I guess some special power) comes in, her literal body inside the mecha took actual damage, hence the eye and the arm severing. When the got skewered with the other lances her body got skewered too to how she died fr
This also the scene that cemented on why Mass Produced Eva's are terrifying. They regenerate, they don't tire because they do not need a pilot, and they're feral. How the hell SEELE can control these abominations, I have no idea.
SEELE doesnt need to control them, they just point them at their target. Remember that the end goal of SEELE was Instrumentality, which is imminent here, and at that stage they dont need any EVAs any more.
@@leon4000in the long run, yes it wouldn't have mattered but asuka still got her guts pulled out and died a very painful death which could have totally been avoided if shinji had just manned up.

Everyone arguing that she did or didn't die from this, when whether if you're talking about the canon show (that blatantly said she died) or the alternate timeline of Rebuild, she still would have been turned into LCL regardless.
Because the actual problem was at Nerv and Gendo started the Human Instrumentality Project. It wouldn't have mattered if Shinji did help Asuka in the anime. The project was underway and couldn't be stopped and the mass produced EVAs had a role as designed.
Some dude in an anime store sold me a vhs with all the Evangelion episodes to me when I was 12. He knew I liked the mecha stuff. I was not ready for this show. But I did finish and still watch UA-cam videos explaining wtf happened and I still have NO IDEA WHATS GOING ON
Basically Evas are not robots but literally artificial living beings created by humans , it had even a soul inside it (Im not talking about the pilot but the eva itself) . Synch ratio is the game, the better the pilots synch ratio, the better the performance and control for the eva's because the pilot is linked neurologically with the eva which also means they will feel more whatever happens to the eva . Which is on this case is freaking painful. And it must be that asuka had super high sync ratio given that she felt her mother on this time , but i dont want to spoil why i said it. Just watch this anime like from the beginning up to the movie if you haven't watched it yet, its amazing.(well it depends how you would view things after watching the whole plot)
I was confused at first but after reading the comments i am astonished on how much pain she dealt with while giving herself a heck of an adrenaline boost
I like both scenes but in my personal bias, i would have liked a combination from how the manga and the movie do this scene, in the manga Shinji appears in time and saves Asuka life but he did not save her from being impaled by the lances, he saved her from other 3 evas who Asuka couldn't win against when she still had power left, she was beaten by them, not cheated (what you can see in the movie where she wins against all of them but they then rise again when she has 0 power left), i think it would a been more pleasing for both characters to show their strengths, Asuka showing how good her skills is to beat all of them and Shinji to come just in time to save her from the lances showing he got the spine to do what he truly wants, not to fight them while Asuka can only watch like in the manga, I'm sorry if this poorly structured.
I LOVE ASUKA! Outnumbered and outgunned on a limited power supply and she gives it everything she’s got. A fucking beast. Even better is despite her imminent defeat she still Has that fire in her and declared that she will kill the enemy. Obviously we know how it ends but there’s something so powerful about an obviously defeated person still having the drive to win regardless
I wonder about an alternate universe, where Asuka realizes that the mass production Eva's are far more Angel than machine and goes for the spot where the core is: the plug.
watched the eating part frame by frame and you'll noticed the MPE arm now have a claw similiar when 01 berserk (pause the video then use key , and . to backward and forward frame by frame) Also one of them literally licking lots of drooling.
The ending of all this upset me when considering her character. To me she's just been genuinely tormented her whole life by everything shes been through, and then she gets killed brutally in excruciating pain all alone when she needed help most. Im just left feeling that she couldn't possibly deserve this
That's call existence. People can struggle and suffer all their lives, and never find peace and happiness. That is the same reason people must appreciate those ephimeral moment of happiness.
I was 14 when I first watched this. I will never forget the feeling I had that a great warrior had lost a battle she should have deservedly won. Such a great scene.
The fact they could regenerate makes you understand that they were playing with her the whole time and regardless of everything that could have happened, shinji's arrival included, she (or they) would have died anyway. It's all SEELE's plan, they were set to die like that since the day they were born
see that she literally was winning for a long time till she ran out of energy that if she had more time she could totally won and see that she wasn't even afraid of death, she was more piss off that she didn't get to killed them all what a badass
She didn't die in that episode but she did get seriously injured. She almost died several times in the series and what most people don't know about the series is that almost all of the pilots are genetic anomalies in some way and two were made that way. Rei is a clone of a clone repeated who knows how many times and the main character is piloting his own mother's body. Asuka is the first new person to be born with the ability to pilot an Eva and the last thing is that most of humanity is very nearly sterile and can't reproduce. The world of Evangelion is a very dark take on a possible future of humanity. Something else is that Adam is in the series and he's was an angel but more than that he was one of the most powerful of the angels. What originally drew the attention of the angels is experiments that were conducted on Adam's body in an effort to solve some kind of problem with either human genetics or energy its not 100% definitively stated which. But once the experiment got to a certain point it caused a huge reaction that resulted in a massive amount of energy being released. The huge explosion that resulted from this sent ripples out across the universe and through separate dimensions and realities that drew the attention of the angels and they were ordered to retrieve the body of Adam. The whole destruction of the world could have been stopped if they had simply handed over the body of Adam. They even knew about it but they didn't know what the consequences would be if they did it. The next thing is that while the experiment pointed towards earth it didn't point to exactly where on earth the body was. The next thing is that humanity had been in a slow decline for a very long time because of the constant problems from dealing with the angels. The angels were not completely evil but they were kinda under orders to retrieve the body at any costs even if it meant the destruction of humanity. You can see that in the tactics that are shown in the series and the ones that are talked about either in passing or directly. A good example of this is you don't really see this but close to 75% of the water on the planet has been contaminated to the point where it can't be purified by any means that is the same thing for most foods and other organic life on the earth at the beginning of the series. The only truly effective against the angels are the Eva but the one prototype that could have lightened the emotional and physical strain on the pilots was sabotaged by the very same people who started the whole war in the first place.
@@musiczone9976 Rei has fragments of memories of all of her clones, but for the most part the memories are not transferred over. If you ever saw the old movie multiplicity in it this guy clones himself and his clones clone themselves. Each clone has at least partially intact memories and genetic information from the point where they were created. The idea is based on an old and mostly debunked genetic theory that says that your memories are encoded into your genetics and any children you have will have a mixture of your memories and your mates memories. This theory is mostly debunked because we know of some animals that are able to transfer memories or actions from one generation to another through genetics that said we don't have any way of predicting what memories will be transferred from one generation to another or weather or not its truly a transfer of memories or simply a genetic marker for a certain pattern of actions in response to a particular type of event. We know that epigenetic information allows a parent to transfer a major advantage from one generation to another but not how far those changes will go or to what extent they actually affect the memories of the individual. At the end of the original series the angels basically said F you guys we're getting adam's body and you can all die for what we care. Well sinji is only one of like three people who are still alive and they have no other choice but to trigger the final solution or failsafe to hopefully preserve humanity and they do in the human instrumentality project. When they trigger it they only have sinji whom they hope has the shear force of will to restart humanity and depending upon how you interpret the last episode he either did not didn't save humanity. Or he did or didn't turn the remaining humanity into a hive mind along with the angels or without. But no matter how you interpret the last few episodes all of humanity is gone its just a question of what happened afterwards. Did sinji save us be restarting the whole course of events or did he do something else and how big of a role did Auska play in the events. The events and ending of the anime are very similar to rahxephon except that with the anime i just mittuned things are very clear what happened in the end or at least much more clear except for some time traveling and time dilation shenanigans that results in the father for certain characters killing the mother before they are born and changing time in such a way that they were both born and not and much more strange things dealing with alternative universes and time lines. If you like another few anime that deal with alternative dimensions and multiple time lines and a whole host of quantum strangeness look at noein and sc-ry-ed.
Seriously injured? Her left eye was pierced causing it to gush blood. Had her internal organs ripped apart. Had her arm split down the middle. And to top it off, had seven lances stab her in what looks to be vital areas. Btw when shinji finally show up, those mp eva's cannibalized unit 2. At that moment asuka would have been dead several times over.
@@cyberider125 she did survive she was in a coma for the rest or most of the remaining series if I remember correctly. The pilots were genetic mutations and they could regenerate much faster and more completely than humans. Also the Eva they were linked to were able to regrow and regenerate their pilots. The biggest reason why people think that she was dead is because of problems with the order of the airing of the series. Also many of her injuries were not actually injuries but what she felt from what was done to her Eva. If you don't understand why the Eva are able to be controlled it's because the humans that pilot their bodies are linked to them through a neural link system that allows them to be controlled. The Eva don't really need external power sorces and they don't even need to have the controlls that are shown in the series it's all there to help them with the interphase and not much else. These things are all sorts of info that you can find through various sources but something else that many people don't know is what happens at the end of the series the human instermentally project was intended to basically be a new start for all of humanity and it wasn't intended to do what it did however Sinji couldn't stand the idea of not having Auska around in the world so he restored her to life but it wasn't a perfect restored copy or original he screwed up and she almost killed him and vice versa. In the end he understood what he had done but whether or not she survived his rage at her original death it's never covered. The last thing is that the creator said he didn't understand why people liked the story so much or why it had gotten so huge. His statement was why do people like these characters so much all of them are emotionally broken and they are all considering extreme damaged goods.
Im not really into anime but my brother showed me this way back and i gotto say its a masterpiece. I hold this up there with Death note and code Geass. The only 3 animes ive watched multiple times throughout the years randomly.
What I don't understand is how Asuka felt pain when the lance of Longinus pierced Eva Unit 2's lost her eye, when in episode 2... Eva Unit 1 lost one of its eyes against an Angel and Shinji turned out fine.
It’s because Asuka has an extremely high sync rate with her Eva, and also because of the lance of Longinus having the ability to reflect damage onto the user. We actually see instances of sync rates hurting the pilots, as in one of the angel battles, 02 lost its arms and Asuka felt it, and right before it got its head cut off the sync was terminated so that Asuka wouldn’t feel that. Basically, if it’s not lance, it’s psychological damage. With lance, it’s actual damage
for people confused as to why she was in pain... These people are injected into the spine of these large creatures for full control and have ESP connection that happens while inside the plug. So She felt her inners being ripped out and everything else while not actually having that happen.
I love that she’s never scared even as her mech is being ripped apart, just incredibly pissed off

Then choking aska at the end in a fit of incel rage. Disturbing… idk why the creator threw his whole series in the garbage at the end. for those that still need explaining;
asuka, just before this battle, had gained new hope in herself after spending several weeks hopeless and bedridden by associating her eva’s AT fields with instead, her long awaited mother’s love (she was SUUPER screwed up from what happened to her but thats another discussion for another time). by gaining this hope and seeing her mother in Unit-02, she harnessed an EXTREMELY high sync ratio with her eva, allowing her to accomplish even greater feats in the 5 minutes of battery she had to fight all 9 Mass Produced Evas. she “killed” nearly all of them, so she thought.
Thank you!

you could say in theory, yes, that asuka at some point could have found a way to go berserk and begin killing the M-P Eva cores, which would halt the progress human instrumentality project. unfortunately, SEELE came prepared with their own Spear of Longinus replicas in order to incapacitate her before she could reach that point..

not even that, when the spears hit the eva's hand and eye, since her sync rate was so high, it physically damaged her eye and hand. thats why her arm is split in half. thankfully her sync rate was low enough during the guts part that it didn't physically rip her guts out (or it could be that the suit was containing it, you decide)

I think it’s likely that she also had her own viscera ripped apart.

its only sad if you liked the characters
The Mass produced EVAs are giving Asuka the Germany 49 treatment. *Splitting her into pieces*
Gave her the Libyan civil war style cut
This is one of those scenes that never fails to hit hard.
and after instrumentality she decided she wanted to live again... that's why I love her... not everyone can deal with absolute defeat and even death and still continue, iconic, great, Asuka.
But it’s impressive that she felt all that damage and still put up a great fight.
one question is true that asuka survived in the manga?
@@hugobaba4414
Asuka survived in the end as Shinji chose to revert Instrumentality.
@@Riri-oj1zs ah ok well because in anime she died but i heard she survived in manga
If the attack is caused by a spear of Longinus the damage is reflected into the body of the eva pilot. There's also the fact that at this moment her connection was above 100%.
How did she got revived in the end of EoE

I like both scenes but in my personal bias, i would have liked a combination from how the manga and the movie do this scene, in the manga Shinji appears in time and saves Asuka life but he did not save her from being impaled by the lances, he saved her from other 3 evas who Asuka couldn't win against when she still had power left, she was beaten by them, not cheated (what you can see in the movie where she wins against all of them but they then rise again when she has 0 power left), i think it would a been more pleasing for both characters to show their strengths, Asuka showing how good her skills is to beat all of them and Shinji to come just in time to save her from the lances showing he got the spine to do what he truly wants, not to fight them while Asuka can only watch like in the manga, I'm sorry if this poorly structured.
that's a cool argument ya got there. to bad its *NOT CANNON* hahahahaha
She went fucking Doom Slayer on their asses lmao
She got the John Marston ending.
2:48 the most disturbing part in this movie
Evangelion is one of those anime that should come with a warning for psychological damage. It definitely did some to me.
I wonder about an alternate universe, where Asuka realizes that the mass production Eva's are far more Angel than machine and goes for the spot where the core is: the plug.
it's sad when you realise this was the one time she was genuinely happy
watched the eating part frame by frame and you'll noticed the MPE arm now have a claw similiar when 01 berserk (pause the video then use key , and . to backward and forward frame by frame)
Also one of them literally licking lots of drooling.
2:21 her screaming is so brutal. Just a poor little girl who wanted her mother to look at her.
At least she is alive and well thanks to the rebuild films. The franchise finally got it's true happy ending it rightfully deserves after 25+ years.
Asuka deserves my utmost respect for putting out a great fight till the very end
I was 14 when I first watched this. I will never forget the feeling I had that a great warrior had lost a battle she should have deservedly won. Such a great scene.
This video right here is on the very deep foundation of my humble being. Especially 2:20, that marked me forever.
asuka's scream is what excruciating pain sounds like
Watching this in theaters was gut wrenching
The fact they could regenerate makes you understand that they were playing with her the whole time and regardless of everything that could have happened, shinji's arrival included, she (or they) would have died anyway. It's all SEELE's plan, they were set to die like that since the day they were born
This scene got redone in doujin Eva Retake with much more satisfying conclusion
"Nah, I'd win" gone wrong
a-a-are we just gonna ignore the fact asuaka probably felt the mass production eva's eat her out her lower half slowly
I don’t know how anyone could hate Asuka
Same
I hate from the bottom of my heart. And this scene was so satisfying.
@@patapumpuli6420 that’s just sad

The scream when she's pierced with the spear is straight up terrifying
Watching the death made me wish I never watched this video because of how gore it was 😨😨😨
LET ME TELL YOU THE FIRST TIME I SAW THIS MY JAW DROPPED AND I WAS IN TEARS 😭😭😭
see that she literally was winning for a long time till she ran out of energy that if she had more time she could totally won and see that she wasn't even afraid of death, she was more piss off that she didn't get to killed them all what a badass
That explains asukas presence in the beach in the end of EoE
Bro, when they die don't their memories die as well?
This show did irreversible damage on my psyche
Evangelion characters have the best design cant change my mind.
The original modern tsundere
for people confused as to why she was in pain...
These people are injected into the spine of these large creatures for full control and have ESP connection that happens while inside the plug. So She felt her inners being ripped out and everything else while not actually having that happen.
Well, her eyes DID bleed… and her arm WAS split… So she did have some of it actually happen.
Her sync rate was over 100℅ so the physical damage the Eva took actually happened to her,you see her eye bleeding after the first spear.
