Like Sinthia said, I think it was a play on the accent, since the two words end up sounding the same in the Koreanized version of the English clown. I remember watching someone talk about how there are English words that have been added to Korean vocabulary but with a Korean sound. I imagine that was the point when writing/choreographing Aya.

@@jvoxfox Glad you are well. I'm very busy with assignments as I am finishing College. My memory stick corrupted the other day so have to re-do some of my assignments and have to get them done by this week. Apart from all of that, I'm good. Getting by. 💛🙏
I love how I can literally see the adoration in your eyes for Mamamoo while you're watching (as we all are!) Also, that story with savage wheein is legendary in the fandom haha. Welcome to the rabbit hole fellow radish :')
Their friendship and excellent mutual relations are one of the most important assets of their music. This is another, almost ethereal level of harmonization in every dimension. That's why, for example, Hwasa, who could make a solo career on an even larger scale than Mamamoo, does not want to leave them.
Hello! I don’t know if you know, but MAMAMOO has released a new song today titled “Where Are We Now”. Their vocals REALLY shine as it’s a ballad. Please do check it out if you haven’t
Actually Hwasa was really vocally and fiscally tired at that time. Mamamoo made two comeback songs and Hwasa also did a debut as Refund sisters member for a korean tv program.
Interesting how you mentioned that Hwasa may experience more fatigue than the other members due to her utilization of her styling. Hwasa is known for being a very chill and relaxed person who gets tired easily, and she even spoke about how she is always tired. In moments in a show called Boss In The Mirror, you can catch scenes of Hwasa laying down because of how easily her energy is spent. So I found it interesting you mentioning that her vocal style can even cause her to feel more fatigued than the others.
@@diah-502 I know she was also very busy, but it’s not just during then. I also said that she has always come off as a chill and low energy person. I’m not saying it’s due to her vocal style alone, that’d be ignorant. I was just saying that it’s interesting that Katrinka said her to vocal style may cause some fatigue because Hwasa out of the members is already a chill and low energy person. Maybe we can theorize that’s why she’s able to use a lot of/consistently use that stylization, because she doesn’t use so much energy outside of when she needs to.
@@echodvc4543 I’m not reading all that. My point was you used the situation as an example of her always being tired which doesn’t fit in context to what you said. She was genuinely tired because of the 4 shows she was on. I’m not disagreeing that she isn’t the member that gets tired easily. 2 things can be true at the same time
@@diah-502 Would you feel better if I deleted my comment? Because I’m not going to do a back and forth, especially since you don’t want to make the effort to read something that is “all that” when it’s only a few sentences.
It's so fun to see how much you've fallen for Mamamoo since your first video on them haha, this was great 😄 I love how accessible you make the vocal terminology for someone like me who hasn't studied it. Your MP/HP metaphor for describing vocal effects was really effective and interesting. Your videos are always super informative while being just as entertaining, I'm glad that we have you as a member of the radish farm!
@@LudmilaRamirez7 it's the video she's talking about at the end, where wheein had to guess a word and solar gave her the hint 'something we don't have'
the key to byul is that when she gets excited she loses some of that groundedness and gets a little nasal in sound, her raps also have more adlib growls hahahah
My favorite thing about this Mamamoo vidéo is Moonbyul, because she doesnt have a lot of singing/rapping parts, so instead of just standing, she's dancing and playing around and that's the cutest thing ever (especially her little dance during Gogobebe lol)
Oh wow finally hahaha, thanks so much. I love the girls so much, they're all amazing. I mean I have no words tbh, their performances always speak for itself.
I can imagine if Julia reacted to all of the Mamamoo videos she watched, this channel would turn into a moomoo channel. By the way I love how Moonstar plays around with the timing in her raps. So good. Hwa sa does have a tendency to do too much in the way of work load, from one project to another, although RBW does try to get them to rest and not over work them, all of this work they do individually is voluntary,
I'm pretty sure Hyejin was sick that day, with a bit of a flu. They had an interview segment before they went on stage that day and if you're used to listening to her speaking voice, it becomes quite obvious that she was down with something. Also, yeah, Wheein's famous "KASEUM!!!" x) LOL. Thanks for this. It definitely made my afternoon better =)
My favourite thing about this video is that they mostly keep their decorum. Then they start HIP and it's like a switch gets flipped and it's full MMM crazy time.
You did it again. Did not think I would stay, not my thing but got sucked in again and loved the pure talent. Most the arrangements are amazing, they're so tight dropping in and out and most of all having a great time loving their time together. Thanks Julia.
Something I have noticed about K-pop groups in general and Mamamoo in particular is that they are more relaxed about mixing timbres even during tight harmonies. In traditional choral, even for barbershop, there has always been a strong emphasis on sounding alike. Mamamoo does that to a point, but mainly they realize that accurate pitch harmonies and volume matching is more important than matching timbres. Red Velvet is another group that does not try too hard to match timbres.
Nice observation. You’re totally right. There is a reason why too. Mostly it’s due to the difference in the roles/goals comparing a vocal group comprised of soloists and a choir who are trying to sound like one seamless voice. First is the style, they are actually doing a great job matching in a contemporary vocal set up so that it still sounds epic but at the same time, they’re belting like soloists, something you won’t find a choir doing. A choir uses a choral (classical based) vocal set up to achieve their sound and goal. So the vocal set up but also the responsibility of each vocalist is different. They’re using the build in intensity in their belt to create an awesome big sound (I can guarantee for the recorded ‘backing vocal’-esque vocals however that the person mixing and mastering would have gone through and made sure they weren’t clashing in timbre and still sound as seamless as possible... different goal in those vocals again).
i watched this dingo performance so many times and thru reactions. I love it so much. the only thing i wished they did was to leave the I miss you chorus to Wheein’s part vs Solar’s Chorus in the beginning. Wheein’s queendom version was so amazing and angelic🙂
The only thing I thought could have been better was a little more of a pause between I Miss You and Hip. They just go right from one to the other without a break.
i too wish the first chorus goes to wheeinie to make the drama even more contrast (from the angelic head voice from wheein, progresses to strong&desperate plea from solar) also i wished wheein’s part on dingga was not ‘touched’ albeit slightly. i may be wrong but i think dingo might try to fix the noise and some other basic sound correcting but to me it seems like wheein’s voice (and on the back, the other 3) is a bit distorted there. everything else for me is purefectionnn
I'm here because I was very curious of an insight of their technic from a professional, but I'm really happy I discovered your channel because your reactions are wholesome ! (btw when they talk at the beginning of Dingga Dingga I love them, they look like Minions hahaha) and yeeah Dingga is sooo catchy I'm learning the choreo because I can' t stop dancing on it for Aya, Solar released a vocal guide she made on her channel, I'm going to listen again after that, everything is so interesting
Your old Mamamoo reactions are some of my favorite videos ever, thank you for making another!! It was so nice to return to your vocal analyses a year later and see that you enjoy Mamamoo as people as well as their vocals... talk about wholesome. I hope you get to see mamamoo's comeback on June 2nd, it looks like we may be getting a ballad title track (and therefore a return to their classic belts and harmonies that you mentioned). Plus a Mamamoo documentary (!!!!). Love from the USA!
GISEUM! (Breasts!) Wheein will never live that one down and we wouldn't have it any other way. 🤣🤣 You didn't pick it up but Hwasa was indeed sick with a cold that day so maybe that's where the phlegmy effect came from. I thought it was interesting to hear her manage her voice du jour and use it creatively rather than fighting it. I have no way of knowing how much post-production effects were a part of this video but it seems pretty clear there were times when there was more than just reverb going on, such as doubled words and phrases to achieve some of the things we hear on the original recording. One of my favorite moments is during Starry Night when Wheein supplies her own delay effect by repeating Bam ... bam and then turns to Hwasa and laughs at what she did (Hwasa didn't notice). I didn't notice the clown/crown pronunciation issue and tho the line "You got me jumping like a crazy clown" is a strange image for a breakup song it's no less strange than some of the other things going on in that song and MV. I have lots of theories about Aya but that's not one of them. 😏 Their bff chemistry is so magical it's alchemical. MMM believes they were fated to be best friends regardless of whether they were in MMM together or even whether they were singers, hence songs like Destiny and 4X4ever. Since you're having fun with their off stage videos have a look at the MMM-TV episode from their rookie days called How Mamamoo Plays in the Car if you haven't seen it yet.
I like many Kpop artist/groups and Mamamoo is by far the most entertaining and talented in my opinion. They interaction with each other, range individual style is second to none and seeing them live is something that will most likely never happen and it is a shame.
Love your reaction Julia :3 It’s been a long way since your first time reacting to Mamamoo (back in then you had no idea what are their name and called them by the color of their suits xD) and now you remember all their name & start fangirling over them. It’s soooo adorable 😭 Ps: Seeing vocal coaches reacting to Mamamoo then slowly turning into their fan is way too satisfying for me. I mean stan talents stan Mamamoo tho 😍
Vocal goddesses doing what they do best, I love that they still tease and have fun with each other during the performance. I'd be very curious to see your opinions on another group I hold close to my heart, dreamcatcher. I think there's a lot of stuff you'll love from them. Their songs Scream and Boca are 2 of my favorites as well as Siyeons (main vocalist) cover of speechless and her solo song Paradise.
Watching you watch Mamamoo is the best way to uplift yourself. You just get so excited and, of course, it's a reaction video, cue mirror neurons, engage viral contagion (in a completely healthy non-COVID kind of way). Fangirl away. You're awesome.
i’m south korean, and not sure if anyone explained this question but at 29:54… in hangul, the consonant ㄹ in pronunciation is kind of complex for english because it blends differently in a lot of words.. but it essentially comes out as an english "L/R". in speaking english, this is a tricky bit of language-specific pronunciation skill to learn as it would basically be like a new contradicting rule for a letter of the alphabet you grew up with long story short, a lot of koreans learning English would pronounce it this way and it’s likely not a play on words… more like how an english speaking person might learn french, but not sound french
Thanks for doing this. Probably already mentioned but please check out Pickachoo cover. Whee Ins adlibs are so well done. Her support for each is the best. New come back in June👍😊😍🤩
30:00 in korean the letter equivalent to an "r" and an "l" sound is the same (ㄹ), so I believe that's the reason they pronounce "clown" as "crown" and it ends up having a double meaning with the crown thingy they make with their hands while singing that. I just think it's a language thing between english and korean.
mamamoo are i’m pretty pretty sure the first kpop group i listened to and stanned, it is sad that wheein is leaving the group but good for her, she deserves a better company who’d treat her well. but all this time i’ve seen how awesome and amazing they are they deserve the whole world.
When it comes to vocals and stage presence Mamamoo are unmatched nobody does it like them in the K-industry. Also they are having a comeback September 15 called « Mamamoo: the best album » the title track is: « Mumumuch » and it’ll hit big!! Thank you for reacting to them ❤️😊🤝
If you’re suprised by moonbyul’s slightly nasally rap, you got to listen to their first album Hello, specifically “Baton Touch”. Moonbyul used to rap more higher and nasally. It’s really shocking when you get used to her deeper rounded raps
Really appreciate your reaction and analysis on their vocals! Mamamoo is the best when it comes to vocals in K-Pop, and they are number 1 imo hehe Would like to see if you can react to LiSA - Homura (The First Take)~
At the beginning, when Moonbyul points her finger and you said you didn't know if you were being yelled at... She was saying, "Shhh. Dingo, are you interested in me?" This is classic "Greasy Moonbyul" where she does her greasy flirting. The "L" and "R" sounds have been mentioned in the comments, but really there are neither in Hangeul. The letter is ㄹ, and is neither "L" nor "R". The sound associated with the letter is close to both, but neither. The best way to describe it is to put the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth, right behind your teeth, and say the word "log". That's how you pronounce ㄹ. Koreans use ㄹ in place of both, and depending on the sounds of the letters surrounding it, it can sound different. It comes down to the positioning of the tongue and mouth, which as a vocal coach I'm sure you'll know what I mean. It's along the same lines as, for example, the Korean word for "thank you" is spelled as (transliterated) "gamsahabnida". But it is pronounced as "gamsahamnida" because of the mouth/tongue positioning. The "b" becomes an "m". When saying English words, when there are letters that don't directly have Hangeul counterparts, Koreans use the closest sound/letter in their Hangeul alphabet. Like when cheering someone on, they'll say, "Fighting!". But since there's no "f" sound in Hangeul, they'll say, "Hwaiting". Or for the word "fan", they'll say, "pan". Hangeul has hard consonants, soft consonants, and double consonants. We have letters in our alphabet that they don't have corresponding sounds for. So it's a bit challenging to get it from either side.
Really enjoyed the video! Love the analysis that you give from your professional experience which I feel that some other similar channels drop that aspect a bit and just end up fangirling (hard not to) but props to you for providing quality content! Thanks Julia!

@@jvoxfox Glad you are well. I'm very busy with assignments as I am finishing College. My memory stick corrupted the other day so have to re-do some of my assignments and have to get them done by this week. Apart from all of that, I'm good. Getting by. 💛🙏
Good luck getting everything together!
@@jvoxfox Thank you. Your videos keep me calm and sane. I'll get it done. 💛🙏
I love how I can literally see the adoration in your eyes for Mamamoo while you're watching (as we all are!) Also, that story with savage wheein is legendary in the fandom haha. Welcome to the rabbit hole fellow radish :')
I can't believe you explained vocal effects and vocal strain through MP expenditure and HP loss ... You are truly of the people. I love it!
the amount of analogies that work when you translate singing into an arpg is honestly so many.
Glad you checked this one out... One of my all time favorite Mamamoo videos, really shows off their vocal chops.
Its been 1003 years 😂
Thanks julia. That legendary kaseum video lmao
Honestly, I never get tired of listening to Mamamoo. There's so much to look forward to, whenever they perform.
Their friendship and excellent mutual relations are one of the most important assets of their music. This is another, almost ethereal level of harmonization in every dimension. That's why, for example, Hwasa, who could make a solo career on an even larger scale than Mamamoo, does not want to leave them.
Thanks to UA-cam and the pandemic, I was introduced to this group. They are amazing performers, love listening to them do their thing. ❤️
Hello! I don’t know if you know, but MAMAMOO has released a new song today titled “Where Are We Now”. Their vocals REALLY shine as it’s a ballad. Please do check it out if you haven’t
Same ❤
I was exhausted after a long day at work but now my body is full of soap bubbles and happiness! THANK YOU for doing this video :D

She was filming 3-4 shows back to back at that time
@@diah-502 I know she was also very busy, but it’s not just during then.
Your videos are always super informative while being just as entertaining, I'm glad that we have you as a member of the radish farm!
they're so good wtf love how well their voices work together
Lmao that legendary clip, We dont have breast!
ITS SO FUNNY
I love them all
@@jvoxfox THEY ARE HILARIOUS WITHOUT EVEN TRYING, LOL! Btw, thank you for the content! Much appreciated 😊😊
hey! you could have said height!
KASEUM!!
You know the legendary "KASEUM!"
You're a moomoo now. It's 100% official
about to comment the same thing lmao
when? (timestamp)
@@LudmilaRamirez7 it's the video she's talking about at the end, where wheein had to guess a word and solar gave her the hint 'something we don't have'
@@kalaksed if there's a clip of that in a MMM related or even non MMM related video, it never fails to make me laugh
@@kalaksed yeah yeah i know the mmm clip but i didnt see it in her video hahah
the key to byul is that when she gets excited she loses some of that groundedness and gets a little nasal in sound, her raps also have more adlib growls hahahah
My favorite thing about this Mamamoo vidéo is Moonbyul, because she doesnt have a lot of singing/rapping parts, so instead of just standing, she's dancing and playing around and that's the cutest thing ever (especially her little dance during Gogobebe lol)
She's a moomoo now guys, so adorable 🥺 maybe you could react to their solo stuff, your mamamoo reactions will always be welcomed 🥰
So good. Hwa sa does have a tendency to do too much in the way of work load, from one project to another, although RBW does try to get them to rest and not over work them, all of this work they do individually is voluntary,
Finally, so happy to have your reaction.
It definitely made my afternoon better =)
i freaked out when i see you're reacting to this. been waiting for a long time. Thank you, you're the best Julia!!!
I see a fangirl of Mamamoo, I click. Julia rocking the orange hair, love hearing your voice.
I think Wheein has the most beautiful voice, which can help her with different and multiform role
i watched this dingo performance so many times and thru reactions.
Nearly 36 minutes of all of us fangirling over Mamamoo 😌
I'm here because I was very curious of an insight of their technic from a professional, but I'm really happy I discovered your channel because your reactions are wholesome !
(btw when they talk at the beginning of Dingga Dingga I love them, they look like Minions hahaha)
and yeeah Dingga is sooo catchy I'm learning the choreo because I can' t stop dancing on it
for Aya, Solar released a vocal guide she made on her channel, I'm going to listen again after that, everything is so interesting
I’m so much waiting for you do this reaction!
Thank you. :)
actually- when hwasa was singing this, she had a cold but managed to execute those notes PERFECTLY
Yuuuus! Finally! Thank you so much! Havent seen it but i have no doubt this vid is amazing xD
''She's very full in her belt'' only you can make this sound as a compliment!
I love the fact that she really became a moomoo.
Also can we get reactions of mamamoo being crazy/crackhead/loud asf?
GISEUM! (Breasts!) Wheein will never live that one down and we wouldn't have it any other way. 🤣🤣
You didn't pick it up but Hwasa was indeed sick with a cold that day so maybe that's where the phlegmy effect came from.
Their bff chemistry is so magical it's alchemical.
Hi~ as this is one of the high quality vocal review, I know that you write something in the comment^^
I really hope you do more Mamamoo in the future! I love them so much!!!
I like many Kpop artist/groups and Mamamoo is by far the most entertaining and talented in my opinion. They interaction with each other, range individual style is second to none and seeing them live is something that will most likely never happen and it is a shame.
I SWEAR JULIA IS SUCH A MOOMOO OMG HAHAH luv u queen u r da best moomoo💖
Love your reaction Julia :3 It’s been a long way since your first time reacting to Mamamoo (back in then you had no idea what are their name and called them by the color of their suits xD) and now you remember all their name & start fangirling over them. It’s soooo adorable 😭
Ps: Seeing vocal coaches reacting to Mamamoo then slowly turning into their fan is way too satisfying for me.
Omg yes Hwasa was indeed sick during this recording!
Thank you so much for reacting to this I've been waiting for it for so long
"I'm a simple woman. I see mamamoo I click". Yep, standard response )
Wow your analysis is always on point...thank you for loving and reacting to our beloved mamamoo
Watching you watch Mamamoo is the best way to uplift yourself. You just get so excited and, of course, it's a reaction video, cue mirror neurons, engage viral contagion (in a completely healthy non-COVID kind of way). Fangirl away. You're awesome.
I love your reactions and the lil music facts you throw in!
Oh no, it's finished already...
Thank you for this. I enjoyed this reaction video a lot!
So I'm trying to listen to the review and I keep hearing pop in my head at varoius moments 'I'm back in the radish farm'...
There's a reason they're called the vocal Queens of kpop 😊
i’m south korean, and not sure if anyone explained this question but at 29:54…
in hangul, the consonant ㄹ in pronunciation is kind of complex for english because it blends differently in a lot of words.. but it essentially comes out as an english "L/R". in speaking english, this is a tricky bit of language-specific pronunciation skill to learn as it would basically be like a new contradicting rule for a letter of the alphabet you grew up with
long story short, a lot of koreans learning English would pronounce it this way and it’s likely not a play on words… more like how an english speaking person might learn french, but not sound french
Thanks for reacting to this video! Your comments are very educational and you are also adorable when fan girling. ♥️
Thanks for doing this. Probably already mentioned but please check out Pickachoo cover. Whee Ins adlibs are so well done. Her support for each is the best. New come back in June👍😊😍🤩
Just came out of my testing now I get to watch this 😭❤️ Thank you for the video!!
I was waiting for you react to this. Mamamoo is no joke.
Thank u Julia for recommending our powerful girl group "MAMAMOO".
Btw they are coming back with new mini album in 2.6.2021
30:00 in korean the letter equivalent to an "r" and an "l" sound is the same (ㄹ), so I believe that's the reason they pronounce "clown" as "crown" and it ends up having a double meaning with the crown thingy they make with their hands while singing that.
Actually, Hawasa WAS indeed sick yet she still sang amazingly!
Just when i was about to sleep, so yeah sleep is for the weak. Lesssgo ❤️❤️❤️ Thanks Julia.
YASSS FINALLY 😭 I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR TOO LONGGG
LOVELOTS FOR YOUR CHANNEL, MORE MMM CONTENTS TO COME 🥺
julia losing her mind over mamamoo will never get old
YEEEE YOURE BACK WITH MAMAMOO
When it comes to vocals and stage presence Mamamoo are unmatched nobody does it like them in the K-industry. Also they are having a comeback September 15 called « Mamamoo: the best album » the title track is: « Mumumuch » and it’ll hit big!!
Thank you for reacting to them ❤️😊🤝
It’s sooo cute that you became a moomoo 😁❤️
I love them so much they deserve way more attention outside of Korea
If you’re suprised by moonbyul’s slightly nasally rap, you got to listen to their first album Hello, specifically “Baton Touch”. Moonbyul used to rap more higher and nasally. It’s really shocking when you get used to her deeper rounded raps
I agree! Baton Touch is just so cute to listen to when Byul raps there, and Wheeinie copying her and teasing Byul on how she raps there. 🤣❤
going down the rabbit hole is inevitable with them.. T_T really enjoyed this video!
Really appreciate your reaction and analysis on their vocals! Mamamoo is the best when it comes to vocals in K-Pop, and they are number 1 imo hehe
Would like to see if you can react to LiSA - Homura (The First Take)~
At the beginning, when Moonbyul points her finger and you said you didn't know if you were being yelled at...
She was saying, "Shhh. Dingo, are you interested in me?"
This is classic "Greasy Moonbyul" where she does her greasy flirting.
Yes finally a mamamoo reaction!! Thank u so much for this videoo
