This group is one of THE MOST underappreciated girl groups in KPOP in my opinion. They are REAL singers and yet, they hardly ever get their flowers at award shows. They really deserve more. Other girl groups just do not compare to them.

RBW just didn't promote them outside korea, please research more before saying foreign countries werent interested in Mamamoo when they have sold everything in a blink in asia where they were promoted well. They have won countless awards yes, but compared to JYP or other 3 big companies this was like the 3rd time they went to the usa, so like its not comparable at all the marketing big3 groups has and the one mamamoo had for most of their career when it comes to overseas countries
Cause they're an idol which most of their fans focus are the Visuals more than the talent. If you look at the most popular member of each group majority of them are Visual or Center of the group most kpop fans don't really care about top tier talents they care more on finding they're next It Girl/Boy and that's just the reality 😂.

Mamamoo is most likely one of the top groups when it comes to whether or not members get along. Everyone has their own solo careers which are doing amazing, duos that split off into amicably, and they perform like besties. It's almost been a decade they've been working together and they are extremely familial with each other during anniversary outings. Probably one of the most respectable and scandal-free K-pop groups imo. They're pretty much sisters from another mister. They behave like long-lost sisters when they're together. Tbh it's heart-warming.
Honestly I get you. Blackpink brought kpop to my life and Mamamoo made me a full obsessed kpop stan. So I'm just gonna be forever slaved to these 8 women. Left to right Moonbyul - rapper and performer of the group, she's been slaying 2022 with her solo album (Lunatic), singles and recently has even won a vocal competition against a group of establish female rappers from various girl groups. A total package, which is totally Mamamoo style ofc. Also, she's Korea's ultimate girl crush (a title she relishes on). Solar - Leader and oldest of the group (tho she really looks so young), the supreme queen of power vocals, multitalented and headstrong woman w/ the most amazing crackhead personality. Wheein - The honey vocals and performer of the group. From her voice to her dance and personality she's completely irresistible. Not only is she a huge part of Mamamoo but she owns a incredible discography with her solo works. Hwasa - Known as Korea's 'Queen of queens' for a reason! She is an actual criminal who slays every single stage she sets her foot in with her charisma, power, sultry, sexy and overwhelming presence. Her voice will send you from heaven to lustful hell in a sec. All four of these powerful, talented, brilliant women together form the most chaotic, funny, authentic and vocally prowess group of kpop.
Mamamoo is best when they are live. If they have a bad day they sound like the CD, if they can feed on Moomoos they are much better. Hwasa - the lady on the right - was sick when they recorded this. This video has a little bit of autotune on it so it's almost impossible to hear, but there is an original version with low res out there and there you have flat parts. But... She sounds much better with her mouth stuffed with food then most of us on our best day, which she has proven over abd over again on fan meeting.
Me too. BP lured me into Kpop because of their badass concept. Hated girly concept that time (which I thought what Kpop is all about). But then, I learned about Mamamoo, and boy oh, boy, these women ARE BADASS. Not just by concept but insanely have badass personalities. That made me fell so hard and now they own my bank account 🤣

Rewatching.... Mamamoo is the REASON there IS a "Killing Voice", they were the FIRST. And it's one of the reasons it's so short. Before them it was The "Killing Verse" and featured ONLY Rappers. Speciffically "The Killing Voice" exists because of Solar. SOLAR(w/Mamamoo) wanted to join 'Killing verse' but WASN'T accepted. So Dingo Music created 'Killing Voice' and Called MAMAMOO. If I remember correctly Hwasa (the girl on the right in the sweatpants) had a head cold at the time of filming this so it's kinda crazy she did so well and actually lent a special vibe to her parts that I really like. mamamoo always deliver their live vocals ! Another artist's Killing Voice that I really enjoy is Taeyeon's. She's a soloist, but I think her vocals are one of the best in the industry!
Taeyeon is not JUST a soloist, though. She is still the leader of SNSD / Girls Generation. Maybe you missed it, but they had a comeback for their Fifteenth Anniversary with a song called 'Forever 1', in case you feel like checking that out. :)
So I don't forget I'll pause and answer your questions as we go. The mustache finger has been a part of their harmonized self-introduction since their debut song Mr Ambiguous in 2014, which is the first song in the medley. In their debut stages on the tv music shows they had fake mustaches on their fingers that they'd use at certain times in the choreo. It was an early cue of how how dorky and goofy they are. lol The song titles are on the top line with the album and year listed underneath. Some of the titles are in Korean. I'll give you a complete list in order of performance at the end. The rapper goes by Moonbyul or Moonstar (byul means star). Real name Moon Byulie (you'll usually see it romanized as Byulyi but there's no Y sound so I prefer Byulie). Tho she's Mamamoo's main rapper she's also a talented singer and was recently the landslide winner on a tv show called The Second World where 8 girl group rappers competed as singers. Names from left to right with their self-defined roles in the group: Moonbyul - Moon Byulie. Rap and performance Solar - Kim Yongsun. Leader and vocals. Wheein - Jung Wheein. Vocals and performance Hwasa - Ahn Hyejin. Vocals and rap Performance is their term for staging and choreography. MMM did most of their own choreo up til 2019. I think of Moonbyul and Wheein as the dance captains and main choreographers. Regarding MMM singing live you can generally depend on it since they can't lip sync to save their lives. They built their rep on their live vocals and are regarded as the premiere female vocal group in kpop. Yes, they're best friends. Wheein & Hwasa (aka Wheesa) have been bff since middle school. Solar & Moonbyul (aka Moonsun) are practically inseparable. Their team chemistry is the secret sauce that elevates MMM to the next level (goddess tier). Yes, there are lots of singers and groups in the Dingo Killing Voice series. MMM was the first group to be invited. There weren't many pre-recorded harmonies. It was most obvious at the very beginning of the first song before any of them started to sing. The engineers did manipulate the vocal tracks in post-production. There's a raw vid of this performance that clearly shows they used compression to level the volume and I suspect they used a delay at times to thicken the sound, which is maybe why you heard what sounded like pre-recorded harmonies. I mostly hear that thickening effect on Wheein's voice and I think when you talked about pre-recorded harmonies Wheein was singing. Imo you don't have to worry about feeling like you're cheating on Blackpink. BP & MMM are totally different kettles of fish with different musical agendas and career paths. They're both the best at what they do but other than being 4 member Korean girl groups they have little else in common and I think it's totally appropriate to love them each in different ways. For your next Mamamoo reaction I highly recommend Immortal Songs Medley. It's a live video that's safe for reactions because it was professionally filmed at a MMM concert in 2017 and the vid was uploaded by a moomoo (Mamamoo fan). In case you don't know about Immortal Songs 2, it's a singing competition tv show that features some of the best singers in S Korea doing their arrangement of classic (immortal) songs by older artists. Mamamoo appeared on IS2 14 times as a group (Solar also as a soloist) between 2015-19 and each performance is a spectacular vocal showcase. However, reactions to Immortal Songs get blocked by the tv network so the Immortal Songs Medley is the best alternative, besides the fact that it's an 11 minute tour de force performance with a live band that is guaranteed to knock your socks off. When you get the chance watch the tv show performances on your own time. My favorites are Delilah and Backwoods but you're going to want to watch them all. Have fun! There’s a channel called it’s live that also have groups sing on stage with live instruments. You can see more of Mamamoo there if you haven’t, and other groups as well. Otherwise just live performances is the best place to see Mamamoo from Immortal Songs to reality shows where they’re being crazy then randomly remind people they’re S tier singers. There’s a lot of compilations of them from the earlier years singing behind the scenes and harmonizing while practicing. Recently a tech sheet was released from a small festival about which kind of backing tracks each artist was using and Mamamoo used the least amount of vocal backup electing to sing almost all their vocals live with none of their vocal tracks included in the mix. Im sure a few people have mentioned too but also Moonbyul (the rapper) just won a competition for singing so….well…they sing!

And I believe Moonbyul and Wheein were trainees together before getting signed by RBW, their label. It's mentioned below, The Immortal Songs Medley is a CANNOT miss. Mind you this is a 15+ minute set in the middle of a 4+ hour concert. Another spot for live vocals is the "It's Live" channel. Artist perform with a live band. They have had Mamamoo, of course. Dingo's Killing Voice is a rabbit hole of live medley performances of the artists' songs. They really killed this. Theirs are like the most viewed one.
Try listening to "Mamamoo Immortal Song Medley". They actually sing live better than studios, and so many of their performances are stunning. But the immortal song medley is arguably one of the best of the very best!. You will hear their amazing vocal as well as their stage presence. It is what they performed in their first concert. Must watch!

One of the things that I keep in mind every time I listen to Mamamoo is that they were told, by their company, that because they couldn't rely on their looks to be famous they had to focus on their talent. Hwasa, (the one in sweats on the right) was even told at an audition for another company that even though she was talented she couldn't be an Idol because she was fat and ugly. These wonderful ladies have been through some sh......tuff to get where they are. If you get the time you should watch the group guide for them by Purple Hawke. If you choose to do it as a reaction is up to you, but you should watch it regardless.
Listen, this is what exactly happened to me. I was in full in blink mode four months and then the hate Hwasa gets for her curves, skin tone, and confidence made me look. And I'm so happy I did. I can't go back. They're it for me, they have it all. I left my 1st K pop girlfriend (BP) for my K pop wife (MMM).

Moonbyul (the one in the sweater-vest) is my bias and Yongsun or Solar (the one right beside her.. power house vocals) is my bias wrecker. Wheein and Hwasa are on the right, Hwasa or Hyejin is in the sweats. Hwasa is known for her raspy tone, Wheein has honey vocals, Solar is power and Byul is just Byul.. kills at rap and has a vocal tone that I just can’t describe. Wheein and Hwasa have been friends since middle school and were schoolmates. Solar is the oldest, Hwasa is the youngest. Solar and Moonbyul are a year apart and had a sort of ruff start but they are all very close, Solar and Moonbyul sometimes call themselves YongKong Byulkong on v-lives and such. Byul and Solar bicker and Byul is on Solar’s own UA-cam channel a lot; Solar has been own Moonbyul’s channel too. Moonbyul also has a radio show called Studio Moon Night that many groups have been on, other members of Mamamoo included when they did their solo albums. Wheein and Hwasa have their own channels too. They debuted in 2014, so this is 8 years.. along time for a group in KPop. Mamamoo has many genres and have never cared even from the start about the opinions of others, they have been themselves from the start. Moonbyul won a completion called Second World that was for rappers that can also sing, Moon SuA and Exy were just two of the other contestants. Solar was in Mata Hari broadway as the lead female role- Mata Hari I Stan 2 female groups- Mamamoo and Dreamcatcher. Both groups are ridiculously talented. All the members for those groups can sing and rap. They could be the main or lead vocalist in any group. Bless RBW for seeing the potential in Solar, Byul, Wheein and Hwasa that other companies didn’t. And bless Happy Face for not giving up on MInx and turning them into Dreamcatcher and creating Dreamcatcher Company in the process. You should check out Dreamcatcher, you will Stan them easily. It took me a very short amount of time to Stan Mamamoo and Dreamcatcher. I should also say that DreamCatcher are b-side queens and they have covered many different groups- they covered Kill This Love at k-pop flex. Their special clips are their own b-sides or covers. DreamCatcher debuted in 2017 so this will be 5 or 6 years; the members of Dreamcatcher that use to be Minx have known each other for 10 years at least when you combine Minx and DreamCatcher time as Minx had debuted in 2014. I am a MooMoo- Mamamoo fan I am an Insomnia- Dreamcatcher fan I am a Monbebe- Monsta X fan and thus I am also a Weenee as I also Stan Wonho.

If you want live harmonies done by lovely older women, go listen!! I fell off my chair the first time I watched it simply because their vocals melted me. I recommend Taeyeon’s Killing voice. She is a part of a 2nd gen girl group called Girls Generation. They all have gone solo but they have a comeback recently for their 15th(I’m not really sure) anniversary as a group. She is the main vocalist of the group. I think you will like it☺️

This group is one of THE MOST underappreciated girl groups in KPOP in my opinion. They are REAL singers and yet, they hardly ever get their flowers at award shows. They really deserve more. Other girl groups just do not compare to them.

Mamamoo is most likely one of the top groups when it comes to whether or not members get along. Everyone has their own solo careers which are doing amazing, duos that split off into amicably, and they perform like besties. It's almost been a decade they've been working together and they are extremely familial with each other during anniversary outings. Probably one of the most respectable and scandal-free K-pop groups imo. They're pretty much sisters from another mister. They behave like long-lost sisters when they're together. Tbh it's heart-warming.
Fun Fact: in this video, they all had a cold. And they still sounded like that. That's the power of Mamamoo.

The mustache finger has been a part of their harmonized self-introduction since their debut song Mr Ambiguous in 2014, which is the first song in the medley. In their debut stages on the tv music shows they had fake mustaches on their fingers that they'd use at certain times in the choreo. It was an early cue of how how dorky and goofy they are. lol
The song titles are on the top line with the album and year listed underneath. Some of the titles are in Korean. I'll give you a complete list in order of performance at the end.
The rapper goes by Moonbyul or Moonstar (byul means star). Real name Moon Byulie (you'll usually see it romanized as Byulyi but there's no Y sound so I prefer Byulie). Tho she's Mamamoo's main rapper she's also a talented singer and was recently the landslide winner on a tv show called The Second World where 8 girl group rappers competed as singers.

Yes, they're best friends. Wheein & Hwasa (aka Wheesa) have been bff since middle school. Solar & Moonbyul (aka Moonsun) are practically inseparable. Their team chemistry is the secret sauce that elevates MMM to the next level (goddess tier).

There weren't many pre-recorded harmonies. It was most obvious at the very beginning of the first song before any of them started to sing. The engineers did manipulate the vocal tracks in post-production. There's a raw vid of this performance that clearly shows they used compression to level the volume and I suspect they used a delay at times to thicken the sound, which is maybe why you heard what sounded like pre-recorded harmonies. I mostly hear that thickening effect on Wheein's voice and I think when you talked about pre-recorded harmonies Wheein was singing.
Imo you don't have to worry about feeling like you're cheating on Blackpink. BP & MMM are totally different kettles of fish with different musical agendas and career paths. They're both the best at what they do but other than being 4 member Korean girl groups they have little else in common and I think it's totally appropriate to love them each in different ways.
For your next Mamamoo reaction I highly recommend Immortal Songs Medley. It's a live video that's safe for reactions because it was professionally filmed at a MMM concert in 2017 and the vid was uploaded by a moomoo (Mamamoo fan). In case you don't know about Immortal Songs 2, it's a singing competition tv show that features some of the best singers in S Korea doing their arrangement of classic (immortal) songs by older artists. Mamamoo appeared on IS2 14 times as a group (Solar also as a soloist) between 2015-19 and each performance is a spectacular vocal showcase. However, reactions to Immortal Songs get blocked by the tv network so the Immortal Songs Medley is the best alternative, besides the fact that it's an 11 minute tour de force performance with a live band that is guaranteed to knock your socks off. When you get the chance watch the tv show performances on your own time. My favorites are Delilah and Backwoods but you're going to want to watch them all. Have fun!

There’s a channel called it’s live that also have groups sing on stage with live instruments. You can see more of Mamamoo there if you haven’t, and other groups as well. Otherwise just live performances is the best place to see Mamamoo from Immortal Songs to reality shows where they’re being crazy then randomly remind people they’re S tier singers. There’s a lot of compilations of them from the earlier years singing behind the scenes and harmonizing while practicing. Recently a tech sheet was released from a small festival about which kind of backing tracks each artist was using and Mamamoo used the least amount of vocal backup electing to sing almost all their vocals live with none of their vocal tracks included in the mix. Im sure a few people have mentioned too but also Moonbyul (the rapper) just won a competition for singing so….well…they sing!

Yes they are very close. Wheein and Hwasa have known each other since they were in middle school. And I believe Moonbyul and Wheein were trainees together before getting signed by RBW, their label.
It's mentioned below, The Immortal Songs Medley is a CANNOT miss. Mind you this is a 15+ minute set in the middle of a 4+ hour concert.
Another spot for live vocals is the "It's Live" channel. Artist perform with a live band. They have had Mamamoo, of course. Dreamcatcher, KARD, Purple Kiss(Mamamoo's little sisters) and a WHOLE bunch more.

Try listening to "Mamamoo Immortal Song Medley". They actually sing live better than studios, and so many of their performances are stunning. But the immortal song medley is arguably one of the best of the very best!. You will hear their amazing vocal as well as their stage presence. It is what they performed in their first concert. Must watch!

One of the things that I keep in mind every time I listen to Mamamoo is that they were told, by their company, that because they couldn't rely on their looks to be famous they had to focus on their talent. Hwasa, (the one in sweats on the right) was even told at an audition for another company that even though she was talented she couldn't be an Idol because she was fat and ugly. These wonderful ladies have been through some sh......tuff to get where they are. If you get the time you should watch the group guide for them by Purple Hawke. If you choose to do it as a reaction is up to you, but you should watch it regardless.
Listen, this is what exactly happened to me. I was in full in blink mode four months and then the hate Hwasa gets for her curves, skin tone, and confidence made me look. And I'm so happy I did. I can't go back. They're it for me, they have it all. I left my 1st K pop girlfriend (BP) for my K pop wife (MMM).
They are singing live, they have been harmonized for over 10 years. You should watch the immortal medley song as well, they are well know for vocal queen

Moonbyul (the one in the sweater-vest) is my bias and Yongsun or Solar (the one right beside her.. power house vocals) is my bias wrecker. Wheein and Hwasa are on the right, Hwasa or Hyejin is in the sweats. Hwasa is known for her raspy tone, Wheein has honey vocals, Solar is power and Byul is just Byul.. kills at rap and has a vocal tone that I just can’t describe. Wheein and Hwasa have been friends since middle school and were schoolmates. Solar is the oldest, Hwasa is the youngest. Solar and Moonbyul are a year apart and had a sort of ruff start but they are all very close, Solar and Moonbyul sometimes call themselves YongKong Byulkong on v-lives and such. Byul and Solar bicker and Byul is on Solar’s own UA-cam channel a lot; Solar has been own Moonbyul’s channel too. Moonbyul also has a radio show called Studio Moon Night that many groups have been on, other members of Mamamoo included when they did their solo albums. Wheein and Hwasa have their own channels too. They debuted in 2014, so this is 8 years.. along time for a group in KPop.
Mamamoo has many genres and have never cared even from the start about the opinions of others, they have been themselves from the start. Moonbyul won a completion called Second World that was for rappers that can also sing, Moon SuA and Exy were just two of the other contestants. Solar was in Mata Hari broadway as the lead female role- Mata Hari
I Stan 2 female groups- Mamamoo and Dreamcatcher. Both groups are ridiculously talented. All the members for those groups can sing and rap. They could be the main or lead vocalist in any group. Bless RBW for seeing the potential in Solar, Byul, Wheein and Hwasa that other companies didn’t.
And bless Happy Face for not giving up on MInx and turning them into Dreamcatcher and creating Dreamcatcher Company in the process. You should check out Dreamcatcher, you will Stan them easily. It took me a very short amount of time to Stan Mamamoo and Dreamcatcher. I should also say that DreamCatcher are b-side queens and they have covered many different groups- they covered Kill This Love at k-pop flex. Their special clips are their own b-sides or covers.
DreamCatcher debuted in 2017 so this will be 5 or 6 years; the members of Dreamcatcher that use to be Minx have known each other for 10 years at least when you combine Minx and DreamCatcher time as Minx had debuted in 2014.

If you want live harmonies done by lovely older women, go listen!! I fell off my chair the first time I watched it simply because their vocals melted me. (...Maybe I should say dripped off my chair, but I digress.)

I recommend Taeyeon’s Killing voice. She is a part of a 2nd gen girl group called Girls Generation. They all have gone solo but they have a comeback recently for their 15th(I’m not really sure) anniversary as a group. She is the main vocalist of the group. I think you will like it☺️
And the fact they're having fun and messing around during live performances - their trademark. They are ahead of the game in that sense in kpop industry
They're QUEENS!! I've been a Mamamoo stan for some years now, and they never cease to impress me with every new song! MoonByul, the rapper, is one of the best female rapper in South Korea (but I think maybe in the whole world? I'm not sure bc I'm not into rap, but she's GREAT), and she's also a wonderful soloist, she's recently won a competition called "Second World" in which 8 idols - rappers of their respective groups - wanted to prove they're also vocalists, and she SLAYED. The four of them are some of the best artists out there, I'm so happy whenever someone who has never listened to them recognizes their talent
