- P200A21 - The charge movement flap (cylinder 1) has a malfunction. The signal amplitude is less than a minimum amplitude
Due to the broken rod of the air flap, the intake manifold should be replaced
verry informative, shows basic things needed to remove manifold, very good thanks for taking the time for this its a great help
Thank you very much 👍
You my sir, YOU ARE A HERO! Thank you very much❤️
Thank you for this video. Super helpful! Doing this soon.
Thank you for your valuable comment.
Big job
How do you get to the Center bolt at the bottom of the edge valve to take the cooler off is it acces from the front with long extensions
I have a 2012 Slk 250 that has the same code fault. My car only has a problem in sport mode, the car cuts acceleration and goes into safe mode at 5000rpm. Some say it's a drop bomb but I haven't investigated it yet, would be the same problem?
I am not sure before having a look at your engine. However, this flap's function is opening more intake manifold ports when the engine is running at high RPM. If this flap is not working, ECU will cut the fuel to protect the engine and catalytic converter. Additionally, 5000RPM is too high..
@@b.k.automotiveservices9489 Nice !!! I will check ..How do I make sure he has a problem? And what is the name of this flap? The slk 250 have these flaps? Thanks
Firstly, is your engine petrol or diesel? Anyway bothe engine have this function.. However, the engine in the video is diesel..
hello, did you fix the problem? because I have the same problem in my 2014 SLK 250cdi🤔🤔
Yep, it's fixed.
5:42, What do you think about cancelling or removing the flaps it has? Will it be noticeable, will it jerk, I don't know?
The motor stays connected so that it doesn't give an error.
I've got this problem listed on diagnostic scan but it's not causing any problems at moment. I assume it will at some point? Looks like a job I'd rather leave until I really need to as I may not keep the car that long anyway.
This flap controls an amount of air into the intake ports. If the rod 's condition seems all right, just leave it for a while as this job is painful one.
@@b.k.automotiveservices9489cheers. Mine is in a SLK I bought on impulse and I'm wishing I kept my Mini....I guess if I keep it I'll do it as part of a major carbon clean given how much stuff you have to disconnect anyway.
No wonder these cars have high owners. Get rid before it breaks
Good clear video 👌
Very good job 👍
Thank you very much~
hi, basically I did a diagnosis, and in the memory I get this error, do you think it could be the same problem? but I don't get any engine light or anything else on the display, but only if I do a diagnosis
Sehr gut👍
How purge o bleed the air of the cooling system?. Or is auto purge?.
I disconnected one of the EGR cooler hose and poured coolant in the expansion tank. Once you can see the coolant from the hose disconnected, connect it back. Run the engine until cooling fan runs several times(thermostat fully opens). Stop the engine and leave it cool down. Open the expansion tank cap, and check the coolant level. Don't forget to carry out a test drive. Thanks.
@@b.k.automotiveservices9489 OK, thank you.
I've never had a diesel fan come on ever
Nice job!
Thanks!
Great video thankyou. What is the total time for this job roughly?
Thank you for your comment. It took 4 hours including cleaning.
4 hours ... You are super fast! 😳
What product did you use to remove carbon from the manifold and EGR, or what do you recommend?
I recommend to use carby cleaner.
@@b.k.automotiveservices9489 carby or carbur cleaner?
Thank you v much for this, what did you use to clean the block after taking manifold off please? It looks super clean
I used a paint brush, carby cleaner, and solvent. Thank you~
@@b.k.automotiveservices9489 Thank you sir!
Forgot to ask. Do you have to calibrate it with a diagnostic tool or does it self calibrate?
Just ignition on for 10 seconds and off. It will learn itself.
nice work how many hours labor to do that job
Thanks. It normally takes 4~5 hrs to complete this job.
Is it necessary purge the cooling system?.
No, you don't need to. If the cooling system is contaminated by an engine oil, you should. But, not in this case.
@@b.k.automotiveservices9489 OK, thank you, very useful.
No problem~ Thank you for your comment~
What is F.O.D. ??
F.O.D stands for "Foreign Object Debris". I worked in an aviation industry before. This term is used in the industry.
@@b.k.automotiveservices9489cool, the next few days I do have to do this job by the car of my father in law..😊
Good luck to you~~
@@b.k.automotiveservices9489thank you, i have also bought the Service Manual for the C Class, in Case of more details an torque values etc. My concern though is I am pretty sure that the valves are also shooters carbonized and I am wondering how the heck can I clean them without a blasting device..🤔
The flap lever has jumped off the flap-motor-axle on mine just like on yours. Mine has 200 000 km. Do you have any idea why those happens ? Was there a plastic clip locking it to the axle, which broke?
In my opinion, it happens as they make the hinge with plastic material. As time goes by, plastic is getting fragile due to heat from the engine..
Such engineering
0:01 I solved the problem now. I replaced the intake manifold including flap-motor. The intake manifold had quite a lot of carbon in it. Also the valve-inlets was full of carbon. So I cleaned them using zip-ties in an electric drill. While everything was removed, I replaced the fuel-filter-holder too.
@ excent job, what strips on a drill ? and with carb cleaner ?
@@Super-lucky-7777 No, I dont like that idea, but hey, maybe its just me. Instead I gaffataped a thin hose onto the vacum-cleaner hose, and put it in there in between using the drill with 6 strips stuck into it. Cut off the strips-locks first, of course. And of course make sure the valves are closed first.
Did u also Get the fault code p2463 (soot content of diesel particle filter too high) with this problem?
No, it didn't have that fault code.
Ive got that too. I hope it will disappear when I change it
The fault code needs to carry out regeneration procedure unless it will cost too much.
The system didnt want to run a new test on the filter, we got it deleted by getting the system knowing that the filter has been changed
How to learn the actuator
You don't need to carry out the learning process. Just erase the fault code before starting the engine.
How much does it roughly cost? Mines got same fault showing.
It was more than 1,500AUD.
Hi everyone I've got a E250 Cdi blue efficiency with 98000 miles, which are the common mechanical issues I've to look out fir please thanks for a great video.
Thank you for your great comment as well.
❤❤❤❤
still don't get this dumb idea of car manufacturers using plastic for manifolds
That's related to the fuel consumption. I can't believe it..
@@b.k.automotiveservices9489 weight reduction 😂 are you guys based in the uk or overseas?
I am in Sydney, Australia.
@@b.k.automotiveservices9489 that explains the birds, they are only found in warmer climates
