5:01 Glow plugs? You mean injectors. The glow plugs are located on the side under the high pressure fuel rail on the right side of the engine. But you are absolutely an A grade mechanic and DPF SPECIALIST! Your work ethic is an example for all car mechanics. You work structured, methodologically and with alot of knowledge and understanding how the systems operate. I’m a Mercedes mechanic and even at the dealership we do DPF regens and replacements, without actually fixing what caused the issue in the first place. I don’t agree on the way they work. I’m considering starting a mobile mechanic business and as specialist services do DPF work and walnut blasting also. Here in Belgium there are in the whole country almost no mobile mechanics. I’m subscribed to your channel and definitely gonna use your knowledge to properly fix DPF problems. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. 🙏 Not all superheroes wear a cape. 🤙
Since I considered several videos, also by other contributors doing it a bit different, i.e. fill in all w/o running the engine in idle mode, this was quite helpful to me. Thanks!
Had engine check light on my Mercedes E220 2014. Checked - DPF was getting blocked and Intake Manifold Pressure low. So, found that the intercooler pipe was burst, the opposite to one you shown. Luckily spotted and replaced the hose on time. The DPF cleared itself.
Great post jimmy and brilliant info , if you come across egr problems especially on a Mercedes or Audi vehicles please can you show them . Best regards.
A big thank you i have a similar issue, changed the DPF pressure switch still the same, so its a DPF clean, now i know what one looks like, I have a W212 E220 Mercedes Eclass, its an ok car but you have to keep on top of those defects, I smiled when i saw the oil due the rocker box gasket for mine is the same !
I have a slk with this engine. It's a nightmare of a thing and everything you want to take off is connected to loads of stuff you don't want to take off. I've got a minor fault on the inlet manifold but I'm not going to change it until it's causing an orange light as performance is still ok at the moment. Mine also has a leaking roof which is more of a problem....
With this one, there's a reasonable chance that if all the fault codes had been cleared the car would have cleaned the DPF itself. Not as a clean as with Jimmy and his Launch fluid, but clean enough to carry on driving OK.
yes our 12 plate 220 acted up during covid with it doing short runs only ........the man that looks after it did a forced regen and we had to drive it hard for a 40 mile round trip and all good since .......touch wood ..!
DPF is probably the worst thing on a Mercedes.I personally had a clogged DPF and I drove to a local mechanic and he had rather more barbaric method to clean it. Means, he cut the DPF where it starts, then he disconnected it from the aftermarket muffler and then under high pressure and with all sensors replaced by metal caps and he had something that looked like a gas tank, which he filled with water, then pumped air into it and released the high pressured water into the DPF. Later on he just mounted everything back, did a reset on the computer and for the next 2 years it didn't went beyond 2%. I think that the old owner of that Mercedes here and also the old owner of my mercedes just used it for short drives to work because my grandma with her 2005 Transporter 1.9TDI with the DPF Upgrade in order to drive into German cities with something called "Umweltzone" and she had the car since 2011 and it never showed any issues with the DPF and only issue so far was the EGR Valve where some flat, metal seal broke and get blew off into the engine compartment. Wasn't expensive to fix since I paid 0.38pound for it (in Euro) and I used this opportunity to dismount the EGR Valve and dip it in a bucket with some sort of carbon/diesel particles remover made by K2 and later on I cleaned it with WD40 which made this rubbish sucking piece of crap look like it's brand new and even the valve was moving way easier after that.
No, the worst thing is that they feed the exhaust back into the inlet-manifold. My inlet-manifold then got the flaps clogged with carbon, so the flaps/motor broke. Yes, they put some flaps into the manifold too ..... its unbelievable how complex these engines are .... A new manifold cost me 300 euros, plus work.... And there is a lot of work, because the manifold is below lots of other units .....This was when the car was at 200 000 km.
Would like you to show if theres soot at the end of the exhaust pipe at the beginning of your diagnosis. And how transparent are you if these cars ending up coming back to you after few weeks with the same fault?
Mr Jimmy, saw your staff and had learn lot of things, very thankful for that! just bough Launch Creader Elite for Benz, plugged in for data stream ( C180 2.2 cdi 2011) and saw surprisingly data, like soot 2%, dpf fill 3%, dpf pressure sensor 0.00bar, while i'm driving only in town.. could it be possible?
great work again! how much did this service cost? also can the dpf pressure sensor be affected by a faulty exhaust back pressure sensor? my EBPS was not connected as the plug worked itself loose, now ive reconnected it and live data is fine but it is showing a dpf pressure sensor fault now.

Wouldn’t it be a go idea to check the intercooler pipes for oil, especially at around 90k. As a warn turbo can leak oil and clog a DPF? As I had this on an Audi Q7.
Can you recommend anyone in the northeast that can do this for me as I have the same car with the same problem but I’ve had a garage charge me for this but didn’t do anything like what you did and it still has the same fault
Hi Jimmy. What diagnostic reader would you recommend for a 2016 trafic for live data. I’m getting adblue missing message and my autel won’t drill down any further. Cheers
Would be very frustrating for the previous owner knowing that he had got a large amount of the required work done but didn't get it over the finishing line.

He mentioned oil in the rocker cover area..... The rocker cover is made of plastic. And there is no metal inserts for the bolts. That means that when you torque the bolts to 9 Nm, you are just compressing plastic. Can you imagine what happens with these bolts after a few years? Thats right, they come completely loose ..... So, on mine, after 13 years of driving, they were all completely loose ..... and it had been to the mercedes garage on regular services ..... It is obious to me that when the designed this plastic rocker cover, they didnt care about putting into the service-intervals to re-tightening the bolts ...... oh no.... That would be putting the clients interests into the mix. No, just let it leak some oil for a few years, until someone notice it, and then have to pay a hefty bill for finding the leak and then tightening the bolts.....
What would cause diesel fuel to be in my oil. Did an oil change last summer and checked my oil level recently and its overfilled even though i filled it half way to three quarters on the dipstick. Can only think its oil as i’m not getting any white sludge on the oil cap if it was coolant.
