- Despite its incredibly high sugar content, this fruit remains relatively unknown in the country.
American novelist Mark Twain once described it as "the most delicious fruit known to man."
This fruit is the sugar apple.
The sugar apple not only has a unique shape but also has a very distinct formation process and interior.
It's one of the fruits you must try before you die.

We call sugar apple/sweet sop ''atis'' in the Philippines. It's indeed very delicious! It's one of my favourite tropical fruits. Insects that are attracted to the sugar apple fruit/tree, aside from black ants, are mealybugs and grey stink bugs.
Its been like forever ago since ive heard of atis, its that uncommon (for me at least)
As a kid, I kind of hated Sugar Apples due to the fact that it would almost always be covered with Mealybugs and that they'd take forever to ripen.
yeah
I kinda turned down by the fact that people often find flies's larva in the common sugar apple in my country, I know it's fine now due to food regulation and maybe more pesticide (which didn't make the situation any better if Im being honest), I have trust issue with this fruit, also the amount of seeds in it is kinda tiresome to deal with
Agree
This fruit is common in India in fact I ate it last night,
But indeed the fruit tastes good but my favourite fruit will always remain mangoes 🥭
I tasted them all. I personally love peach.
@@silvervortex2441 u should try hybrids. the sun magoes, they taste like sungold mago juice it's very fragrant and the skin tastes very good too.
Also known as 'Sitaphal'
in my country, it's called "quả na" or "mãng cầu". My house have a tree of this fruit and eat it almost everyday (I am Vietnamese)
same here
We have this one in our house, and yeah it's really delicious
don't worry Indian this is your custard apple ❤❤❤❤❤❤
If you live in the eastern half of the US, you can easily find a close relative of this fruit called the pawpaw (asimina triloba). They're really common in the wild here but spoil quickly so they don't sell them in stores. They are ripe throughout the month of September so if you're reading this soon after I'm posting, go venture into the woods and try a new fruit!
For those who don't want to brave the woods, there are festivals dedicated to the fruit all throughout the season. Almost every eastern state has one so that's another easy way to try them. Trust me, they're worth the effort!
Finally, "Fruity science"
I like sugar apple! In taiwan they had a distinctive pineapple like taste and sugary.
I once stupidly grew one near my fence. Even then I almost never been able to ate one because peoples & passerby kept stealing all the fruits before they rippen. Bastards know how tasty they were

It's called Srikaya in Indonesia
Wish we could get these in Canada. I’ve never seen them in any grocery store or farmer’s market. I’d love to try one. 😢

We have atis tree in our home, it has big black seeds, they look like small pinapple like skin, if its ripe, it cracks open. Its twin is the guyabano, a larger version of sugar apple but it dosent have segments, instead its spikes..
