Also, ABO antibodies (anti-A, anti-B) are formed naturally after being born. Rh antibodies (anti-D) are formed via exposicion like; transfusions or pregnancy (the mother). Just wanted to share what was tought to me recently. Love the video.
Someone who recieved blood transfusion from a donor with a non compatible blood type, especifically the less common ones (low frecuency or non ABO) can develop antibodies from that, and then it gets harder for that person to receive any blood. Even if they share the same ABO group.
@@CoralineYann so basically we have many antibodies which our immune system makes to help us survive :). They are separated into different classes of antibodies based on their structure. So when we are born we are given genes from our parents. This includes our blood type. Everybody has a blood type; A, B, O or AB. This is the ABO system. It is the biggest blood system we know, and the most immunogenic meaning it causes us the most harm if there is incompatibility between the blood types. In our plasma we have antibodies to the other blood types that we DO NOT have. This occurs naturally from the day you are born you are predisposed to having those antibodies in your blood. There is nothing that we can do to change that. These antibodies are class IgM. We also have the 2nd most immunogenic blood system called the Rh system. This determines whether we have a + or - beside our blood type. If we have a positive beside our blood type this means we have the antigen (A+, B+, O+, AB+). If we have a - beside our blood type then we DO NOT have the antigen and are at risk of making the antibody. We do NOT naturally have this antibody in our system, meaning we have to be exposed to it to get it. We can get it through 2 ways, pregnancy or transfusion. Other than that, it was a good approach on giving an easy understanding about that topic.
I googled it because I was also confused and google said "There are eight main blood types, but scientists recently discovered a 44th blood group system" 😭
Since you mixed type O with type B, isn't it normal that there was little to no reaction visible under the microscope? I don't think it was because of the concentration of the antigens in blood vs in testing solution, but more that Type O doesn't have any antigens, so there's nothing for type B cells to react with. If you had a type A friend laying around and mixed his blood sample with type B friend's, you could probably have obtained a much more pronounced reaction.
But type O blood contains antibodies against both A and B antigens? Or is that only if you have been immunized? Blood bags are cleared of antibodies but here it is fresh blood?
@@danielcarlsen9228 If I recall correctly, you will have small amounts of antibodies in your blood for antigen you don't have, but your body doesn't ramp up production of these antibodies until the foreign antigen is detected. Kurzgesagt did a superb book on the subject that I thoroughly recommend picking up.
I've done a type specific walking donor transfusion without cross match in the military on deployment. I was 100% prepared to respond to a reaction even though they were both B+. There are other antigens that can cause deadly reactions. And when you're transporting a critically wounded patient at 35,000 foot altitude over the ocean, you're the only response they will get for hours. You better be ready for it.
The thing about type o blood is that mosquitoes bite type o blood more than a and b blood and I have o blood so it can get annoying trying to go outside
The reference you're making to Blood Type's link to personality originally stems from Japan. In the 70s or 80s an article was published that broke down peoples traits and personalities based on their blood types. I think even at that time it wasn't taken very seriously by the wider scientific community by its... well... lack of science. But the Japanese general public REALLY bought into it. That's why in so much Japanese media today, anime, games, etc, there is such an emphasis on Blood type. Its kind of a stand in for "personality" or "disposition "
I was reading something that stated that type O can turn into whatever blood type is given if needing a large enough transfusion, making us type O's human dittos
Some people sacrifice their blood for their ancient rituals, some sacrifice it for their gods or God, but most people this days sacrifice it for others. This guy sacrificed it for science lol. And hell that was a sacrifice indeed considering his scream 💀 Respect i guess, i wouldn't do that for a video on youtube even if someone wanted to actually pay me more than 2 dollars.
I've had a blood transfusion before. I am somewhat anemic and I ended up getting really low that I had to go to the hospital and getting a blood transfusion and iron infusion. I don't remember what blood type I am though. I feel like I maybe should have paid attention to that detail, but oh well. I manage my iron levels with iron supplements now so hopefully I won't end up in the hospital again.
HIV can reduce white blood cell counts but I don't think it impacts the number of red blood cells or their appearance. To see HIV, you need an electron microscope. There are colorized 3D electron microscope images online.

Yes, that make sense
But type O blood contains antibodies against both A and B antigens? Or is that only if you have been immunized? Blood bags are cleared of antibodies but here it is fresh blood?
@@danielcarlsen9228 exactly what I thought
@@littleleo7072 Yeah, so if you give B-type blood to a O-type patient it will end badly.
Thank you for your service
@@iranalmonte My honor giving back to my adopted country.
4:06 lmao love it! He looks at one girl then "I prefer type b" and looks at the the other one lol
that screams !💀
Im felt bad for your friends. ⚰️💀
As a bloodiologist, I could say that when combining them it would result to as Type-N which is never gonna give you up never gonna let you down.
Now do a follow up on the RH factor...
And Then the Other 41 classifications Like Duffy
This video has proven to me how weak my stomach is when it comes to anything involving blood in any visual capacity.
Just causally stealing blood from a friend
_The screams killin me bro. 😂_
I'm a blood type O and typically I can agree that I am opposite of friendly.
well that's not nice
Why did the participants for the blood test look unwilling 😂😂😂
that's one wierd fish
You're so good at explaining clearly, easily to understand
1:49 my brain is thinking
Is type O able to receive blood from other people with type O blood? I doubt they can only just give but never receive.
3:00 looks like a blood puzzle piece
I like how you censored the mixed blood on the thumbnail like it's a spoiler and not just a regular blood spot that all look the same
this has the vibe of a 2014 video
0:21 Screams in horror movies be like:
0:29 There comes the logo
How come when u soom on the microscope they don't look red?
4:53 people with type O blood are gentle
(nope not my father that word isn't in his dictionary)
"After lightly pricking my finger"
*AOEOGHHHHH*
2:05 looks like a juicy steak
The way you held your friend finger 1:46 it just hurts to even look
My new favorite kind of fish :)
1:48 actually made me laugh so hard
Would you do a Termite Queen dissection?
I really want to see why its belly is moving so much.
My son has type O, and he is very humble and of soft character and has nothing to do with either mine or my wife's gene.
I FELT SAD FOR YOUR FRIEND
These are exactly the kind of videos and knowledge we viewers deserve on UA-cam
tldw: you get type d (the d stands for death)
Glad you clarified 🤭
dont ask where he got this blood from
4:00
In short, your body tries to protect you by killing you
The reaction to the blood extraction is hilariously satisfying.
0:22 Augh 😫
I was reading something that stated that type O can turn into whatever blood type is given if needing a large enough transfusion, making us type O's human dittos
"Pricking myself lightly" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH"
you know your friends are real when they let you steal their internal juice box
I got an A+ on my last 3 blood tests, no studying.
Sounded like your friend just became your "friend"...
"After lightly pricking my finger..."
"WAAAUUUGGHHH!!!!"
wtf is that sound at 3:22 scared the fk out of me thinking something was behind me
Hahaha what you smoking, mate?
Very well explained and fascinating!
Some people sacrifice their blood for their ancient rituals, some sacrifice it for their gods or God, but most people this days sacrifice it for others.
This guy sacrificed it for science lol. And hell that was a sacrifice indeed considering his scream 💀 Respect i guess, i wouldn't do that for a video on youtube even if someone wanted to actually pay me more than 2 dollars.
would it still be a problem if one were to drink a different blood than his?
yum Spaghetiio's 0:38
basically the blood goes into a cellular domestic violence altercation and a battle ensues until the last red corpuscle isn't standing. Taps plays 🎺
idk what type i am.
but i am the type you waant ;)
jokes..
probably a type-O
huehuehuehueHUEEEEEE
W rizz?
You can buy a blood typing kit online and diy easy.
I have a question what does the blood type O+ do?
What’s the point behind differing blood types and their antigens? What is the evolutionary reasoning or principle behind these differences?
I've had a blood transfusion before. I am somewhat anemic and I ended up getting really low that I had to go to the hospital and getting a blood transfusion and iron infusion. I don't remember what blood type I am though. I feel like I maybe should have paid attention to that detail, but oh well. I manage my iron levels with iron supplements now so hopefully I won't end up in the hospital again.
Wonder what hiv looks like under microscope also mixing hiv with normal blood under microscope
HIV can reduce white blood cell counts but I don't think it impacts the number of red blood cells or their appearance. To see HIV, you need an electron microscope. There are colorized 3D electron microscope images online.
...can you change blood type if your give enough blood?
1:47 that scream😂
What i'm getting from this is that if i get hurt i can use the blood of my enemies to close the wounds faster
Can I know the difference between +(ve) and -(ve) blood groups? By the way, I'm O blood group
Now how about positive and negative blood types? How do you test for that?
This is very interesting
Can you maybe try and show what happens if the blood of different species is mixed together?
"interesting, isn't it?"
Red blood cells: HAAAAALP!!!!
