I'm not using Generations however I'll continue using America's Story and Guest Hollow for Geography. I'll use these Christian books alongside some secular books (yep). I'll create content soon about how and why I do this. I also hope to incorporate World Watch in some type of way.
We are in our last book of proverbs with my rising 6th grader and rising 9th grader. I think they just came up with an economic course. EEEKKKK i am so excited for the next few years, God willing we will be using Generations for the rest of our school years. Thanks for the review
I really enjoy listening to RC Sproul. My aunt gave me the dvd set From Dust to Glory for Christmas, and it’s one of my favorites, and Renewing Your Mind is my favorite podcast.
There is Disciplines of a Godly Young Man that might be more applicable to the life stage of a high school student. There is a version for women written by his wife. My husband has read Disciplines of a Godly Man, and a lot of it seems to do with things more applicable for a later stage of life, like marriage and parenthood.
I’m so excited to get started on our Generations History! I bought the first grade curriculum for my second grader. I felt we needed to start there. We’re going to use it first semester and use the second grade for second semester.
Because of your videos I chose generations for our family this year too! (3rd grade and 6th grade). We are so excited! I haven’t gotten my hands on it yet but I can’t wait! Also, we are in NC as well and I was wondering where you found all the info about what courses they need to take what year? Just trying to make sure I have a clear plan for the future! Thank you!!
Thank you so much for sharing! I have been looking for an American history course for my upcoming 10th grader and this looks amazing! I'd love a flip through of the history book!
I currently use The Good & The Beautiful curriculum and love it!! These books look overwhelming lol but I'd love it if you do a follow up video letting us know how u like it!
Did you know there is a Generations App? I’ve downloaded it onto my phone for the future- it’s got 5 minute news segments in addition to other things. It’ll be good for current events! I so want to use this curriculum, but I think with my auditory learner, we may have to go with something else. There’s only such much reading aloud this Mama can do!
I'm considering the history from this curriculum, we usually use Abeka. The issue is she is becoming bored and starting to dislike history. I want to help make it more interesting. History wasn't something I appreciated til I got a lot older. Hoping that happens for her sooner.
do you feels stressed about high school? My daughter is going into 9th grade and I'm feeling really stressed lol. all the requirements science labs all the extra electives career tech edu computer classes. I find myself starting to clench my jaw when I think about it and work on it and not even realize it. how do you organize yourself looking for everything. you seem so calm and under control lol. any advice is appreciated
I'm considering switching to generations for my spine next year. What subjects would I still need to incorporate? You mentioned there is a literature curriculum, but would it be enough for language and grammar? You've already got me convinced to try IEW, would that still be advised to go along with this curriculum as the spine? How is the math and science look? Would those still need to be added? We have loose state laws but I like to cover all the core subjects keeping at least community college or trade school minimum requirements in mind.
Thank you for sharing! I've always wanted to try Generations! We are currently using the MFW cycle, but I'm Planning to switch it for 9th grade (with my oldest), do you recommend 9th grade package? Can you share us How do You count the credits with generations for these years (9th-12th) ?
They'll be having a 50% off sale next week! Go to this link here to get the sale info! bymandymaltz.com/blog/generations-homeschool-curriculum-cyber-monday-sale-50-off I didn't do the 9th grade package, but I highly recommend it. We love all the books at Generations. On the website, it'll show you how many credits are in each book/subject. The 10th grade one is 1-2 credits depending on how you use it. Most high school classes should be 1 credit unless it's an elective.
If you don’t already, you should listen to “The worldview in 5 minutes” it’s a Christian world news podcast, totally free and ran by Generations! Wonderful news source that brings in Christina life all around the world!
I want to use Generations History this year but when I go to look at samples, it looks like the 7th & 8th grade is in black and white. Im hoping I’m just not seeing the right examples. Do ALL grades have the beautiful illustrations?
Yes, yes, yes for flip through of anything. If you can highlight how the Christian worldview is explained with history....especially if it is far superior to other Christian history curriculum that also supports a Christian worldview?
What are you using for history this year? Doesn’t' this look like an amazing history curriculum? 😍
We are also using generations for second grade. Second year using this curriculum and we enjoy it so much!

You should see Generations Economics curriculum. I love the Big Project. We are using Simply Charlotte Mason's history this year.

We will be using BJU again this year for history. We really enjoyed it last year.
BJU is so nice!

We are using Notgrass for the first time this year but it was expensive. This curriculum seems very exciting.
We really enjoyed Notgrass last year!
@@mandy-maltz I would love a comparison of Generations/Notgrass/BJU!

How are you liking this curriculum so far?

I'm pretty sure Kevin Swanson is the founder of Generations.
That’s what I was thinking!
Yes he is
Did you do a flip through of the christian classics yet? This looks like great curriculum!
I haven't, but it's on my to-do list. It's REALLY good! I'm studying the book with my 10th grader and I think I like it more than he does 😂
He didn’t write the Bible studies. It’s by JC Ryle

I’m also wondering if Generations cover language & grammar!!
It’s on the back of the book you had in your hand lol

is this curriculum rooted in calvinism?
In the literature book, there is a book by John Calvin and it seems reformed from what I can tell :)
I was worried about the same thing. Thank you for asking this!
