We used The second grade history this year (taking the Middle East for Jesus) and I absolutely loved it! I had been fighting Jesus for years and He used one of the lessons to finally convict me that I was a lost sinner and going to hell... it will always have a special place in my heart! So thankful for Generations and the stand they take for Christ and getting God’s Word out. 💜

This is one I've never heard of and we obsess over all the history curriculum. One of my boys LOVES history so I'm always buying extra curriculum just for him to read through. I happened to go to a Reformed College over 20 years ago and before that time I'd never even heard of Reformed. I love much of their theology, and learned so much church history while I was there :). Also--loving that top on you!!

I love generations, we've been using it for 6 months now for literature, history and bible. My kids are 1st-4th grade. At this point I don't use the workbooks, just the texts and use as a read aloud for all 3 of them, we started at level 1 because we didn't want to miss anything, once we catch up to grade levels then we'll add in the workbooks (that's the plan). We are Australian homeschoolers, so not sure if we'll do all the US history in the highschool grades, or switch it for something comparable to Australian History, not sure yet.

Generations just discovered here as well and they are on my radar for next year (already purchased curriculum in march for this coming year).
I've listened to a couple of really good webinars of Israel Wayne and it was just mind blowing and totally makes one start thinking of and on a new level.
One was basically about the history of public education....after that if I wasn't already homeschooling I would be running to it.
Knowing how much your son loves to read I found their literature thoughts/principles very enlightening and on a way Ive never thought before.
Thank you for the flip thru!

If you love Church History, keep your eye out for Simonetta Carr's Church History, coming out late 2022! I am hoping to pair this with Generations History's Heroes set. Dr. Haykin, seminary professor at SBTS (and others) says he would use this as a textbook in his own courses! I already love all of Simonetta Carr's biographies. She is from a reformed church.

Thanks for this review! I've had church history at a Christian school and church history at college, plus I've heard and read missionary stories, but when I've heard Kevin Swanson speak at webinars, the stories he tells are actually unfamiliar to me, and all from the perspective of what God is doing. So even compared to the Christian education I've had, I'm excited about the Generations curriculum.

I did MB America's Story 1 when my oldest was in 3rd grade, then I switched to Notgrass Our Star spangled Story the include her younger brother. We will finish that up this year (they are 2nd/3rd and 5th grades). I've been looking into starting world history next year and have been back and forth between MB World's Story and Notgrass: from Adam to us. So far, I feel like MB was more in depth and Notgrass has been a bit choppy, but I have preferred the student workbook for Notgrass because both of my kids can do it. MB was a bit higher level with more open-ended writing. Generations looks great, but I feel like we're going to miss a lot if we don't start from the beginning. I'm confused because instead of studying world history chronologically, it appears to go by continent. Not really sure what to do with that. Plus, I'm not sure how to do this with multiple ages. The 3rd or 4th grade student book would probably be too young for my incoming 6th grader but the 6th grade would be too advanced for my younger. Do you think this curriculum can be used family style? If I use it as just a read aloud I'm sure it would be fine, but I think the workbooks help solidify what they are learning.

I don't think you could use both, they are each their own full curriculum. Generations is more reformed than MB for sure but check your book to see for how reformed you may think it is. Different authors will write differently with their own worldview, so you may find more of a slant in some books versus others. If I had the choice between the two, I'd go with Generations.
