I was just about to go to bed then this pops up ! Oh well who needs sleep ? I like these but I think I'll still go for the compact Enfield ones ! Good to see you back on the horse after the tappetgate witchunt 😁

Bought these after seeing them in your video, I'm not disappointed! Out of all the budget enginge guards they look the sleekest, not too wide or tall, don't block off the clutch case cover if it has to come off at the mechanics. I used the original thick washers on every part over the smaller ones, the bolts reach far enough into the nuts to make it work just fine (should they come loose I'll edit my comment).

Very nice - I fitted the RE compact bars in chrome - but did consider these. Agree it is confusing with the whole Kappa vs Givi branding. All made in the same place I imagine. Happy to see you back following all that nonsense regarding tappets. Look forward to the next video.

I really like the color scheme and the way you have your bike kitted out with the headlight screen etc... Also, while a bash plate may have some utility, what the guard bars immediately bring to mind, is the possibility of adding a discreet set of forward highway pegs that could clamp on the bars, but fold up out of the way when not being used. They used to be found fairly easy, now you might want to get some made, but having had a setup much like that on several bikes, I can say that they are one of the best things to add to a bike like that. Not what you want about town of course, or in the Twisties, but just the thing on the open road to give you a change of position. Nice bike, enjoy👍.

Sam McRae - thanks Sam, yes that occurred to me also, I tried kicking my feet up on them as they are but you slip off. I might make something up that can be added for longer trips and easily removed or flipped up

Like the look of these compact engine bars , a little similar to the Triumph original ones I've fitted to my Street Scrambler .
So much better looking than the huge scaffolding we used to bolt to Suzuki GT 250's in the 70's !!

There are certainly some elaborate looking bars on some bikes when you take a look around.

Hey Mate, nice Video again. It looks like you putted your own blood in the bike (i love the oil color 13:00) lol :D
Good to know that the bolts started to Corrode... hmmm specialy for us in Europe and for sure for the people in UK it is very important to put grease on your bolts (not on the threat), the Ball bearings (back and front wheel) and of course Steering stem

Great video, thanks for putting the time into making it. Those bars look great and I might do the same on mine. Have you tried fitting the RE sump guard with these bars? I think they might use some of the same engine bolts.

Nothing yet, I think if your bike is outside or a cold garage they probably rot through eventually. I blow some acf 50 inside occasionally. I'm very happy with them at the mo and like the colour.

Chrome would be nice. The black ones just happen to go well with this black bike,
but I think chrome ones would look better on bikes painted in other colors or
      which have a chrome tank.

Another great video Mr Dorman. Thanks. What brand oil filter is that? The original is so expensive!

    • @DormanDiaries
      @DormanDiaries  4 роки тому +1

Ian W - it’s a genuine RE one, I purchased from TEC so stuck their sticker on! Not sure how long it will take to peel off with the heat. The aftermarket suppliers need to get knocking them out. Think RE are just making hay whilst the sun shines.

With the gasket diameter and the spin-on thread count and diameter, one could match it to
retail filters with close or identical height and width. I'd bet that many of the major brands
have oil filters that'd fit the RE 650cc engine. As for quality of the filter element, you'd probably
be able to EXCEED that of the OEM filter. One just has to buy a new OEM filter and start
searching online manufacturer's size data or consult a retailer's catalog.

Dave InWLA I deffo think it would be easier to buy a superior unit. The standard ones are super thin, mine was on too tight as well and the chain wrench pierced it real easy.

    • @DormanDiaries

No not installed from factory unless they are somewhere in the world. RE do sell their own version though.

Think I'd have used a Torque wrench to set the engine mounting bolts correctly, you said later about not overtightening etc....dead easy to overtighten an engine mounting bolt and while you might not strip the thread you could stretch the bolt.

I do and I don’t. Depends what I’m doing and what it’s on and how critical it is. ie disc bolts definitely. I prefer where possible to use copper grease so I can undo easy enough. Nothing worse than stuck bolts. For example I’ve had my landy since 2007, it’s nice coming back around to stuff that I can undo without cutting, heating etc etc
