Me too! I just want him to find happiness in life now...just Eleanor saying how he couldn't bring himself to see the body to identify... I know I couldn't either. I could never risk having to see my husband that way because I honestly dont think I could live after that. I'd rather die than see that.
So do I. I just watched a documentary on the case and their lives. He was so gutted!! He never got over her! He married and had incredible Children, who understand their father. I saw ,in a video, his adult son going to Anita's grave. The young man was so supportive towards the grief his father was feeling. It's tragic. He still talks to her 30 something yrs later and dreams of rescuing her in his dreams. I'm almost crying. It's not a stupid novel. They were meant to be. How tragic . It takes just one encounter in life where if you are at the wrong place.. at the wrong time... So many lives are changed for the worst.. for ever. So sad!(
Agreed plus he is a real man than the ones who are responsible for Anita's murder. Also some idiot commented on this video that the boy and the others who witnessed and heard Anita get kidnapped all suck because they didn't report and call the police about it.
Absolutely! The bystander effect is a very real phenomenon and it happens way more than people realise. He risked his own life after hearing that scream, I hope he's doing okay and not feeling guilty or blaming himself for not having saved her (he couldn't have).
@@samih5916 Well I hope that person feels stupid, because the first thing he did was run back home and call the police to report what he perceived to be an abduction. He went searching with the neighbour _after_ this call.
The guy who saw the kidnapping and immediately went to follow the car always gets me. I can’t think of many people who would think that quickly and chase after them to try help AND do the responsible thing and call the police straight after. He’s a hero in this case even if he was too late
I feel soo bad for he poor husband. They literally yelled at him and mentally manipulated him into confessing to something he didn’t do. He was so distraught and depressed already that his wife had just DIED and the police decided to make it even more traumatizing for him.
I think the police were wrong for attacking her husband and pushing him to the point of his mental breakdown. Yeah I get they were trying to find her killer but ai dont think a confession after breaking them physically and emotionally is right. Wish he had called for a lawyer when they started that crap.
I wish those police officers got fired for doing that to John, so disgusting and unprofessional of them to do something like this to someone who just lost someone they loved.
@@calliecolde6019 in this sentence they used personification to make police brutality seem human ish. 'It's' is also used to describe someone's own thing. As if you were to say her's. Not just an abbreviation of 'it is'. So uhm, maybe I'm not the one to go back to school, And definitely not the one with the #broken bio 🥺🥺
The fact that this could have been completely avoided if the phones at the train station were working is terrifying. This is such a tragic situation. Poor Anita.
Honestly it was only a matter of time and to whome this tragedy would've happened to. If it wasn't anita and it didn't happen at that time, somebody else would've gotten tortured, raped and murdered. We have to go back time and wish the men's parents wore condoms that night
Yeah he's the one who is a real man in this case, also I'm sick and tired of people in the comments blaming him and the others for not catching the abductors enough.
Right?? It’s not just “woman, 23, dead” it’s “Anita, a beautiful, kind, grounded loving woman got her life taken from her, her family, her husband and her friends”
It really leaves an impact, this past week I couldn't stop thinking about Anita. this story is just so violent and horrible, I feel so bad that she had to suffer and never got to live the rest of her life. Eleanor is fs my favorite true crime youtuber, shes always very respectful, very detailed, and does a fantastic job reminding us that these victims were real and had lives outside of their death.
I'm Australian and was a child when Anita Cobby was murdered. I was told about it by my family, heard others talking about the case because this case was absolutely massive. It is still talked about and remembered now, so many years later, by anyone who was alive and aware at the time the case happened. It is one of the most well-known and horrible crimes in Australian history. As with Ebony Simpson and Daniel Morcombe, Anita Cobby is a case where the victim (rather than the perpetrators) are the ones who are remembered and talked about. The criminals didn't achieve fame and they are not remembered.
ik it's honestly part of the reason i love her sm. a lot of other channels forget to remind us that these crimes are horrible n not just interesting. she makes sure we know how absolutely horrendous and repulsing these crimes are and how human the victims were. yes, they're interesting and intriguing, but she does her part to make sure we don't get super desensitized to crimes like this.
@@arenburns9032 how is it disgusting? you act like he’s an awful cruel man??? it was his BELOVED WIFE. no one absolutely NO ONE wants to see someone they love in that form. he didn’t even see her and it hit him the hardest, he absolutely lost himself. how dare you talk down on him like that. if anything it’s disgusting how you’re blaming him. i doubt you’d want to see, much less have to identify someone you love that has been murdered. yeah it’s sad for the dad having to identify her but don’t go and talk badly about her husband not being able to go through with it.
I've read a lot about cows' social behaviors. They comfort each other during birth, or losing a calf. They have friends and get excited to see each other. I wonder if they knew congregating around Anita would attract the farmer and so they wanted to stay with her until he noticed, not wanting to leave her.
Cows are very social animals, it's conceivable that they were trying to attract the farmer's attention as they would know what the farmer's role in their lives was
Idk why but the cows in this story really got me. Like cows are so sensitive and they were definitely concerned and recognized that it was a dead body.
Police aggressively tried for hours to get my dad to admit molesting me and my younger sister in the 90s. Im glad he didnt break but he came close to confessing to something he didnt do. Interrogations can be really sadistic
That’s horrible! I’d love to hear your story if you feel comfortable sharing. I’m very glad that your dad didn’t break because that type of aggression can break people. It would definitely break me
@@queerlibtardhippie9357 false report or like just suspicious of him? It’s pretty stupid since there seemed to be literally no evidence of anything like that happening if they weren’t sure if that actually happened shouldn’t have kept him in a spot like that accusing him of a very serious crime
@@Darsenator thanks pal and yeah it sure is chilling and scary, also there was a murder similar to Anita Cobby that happened 2 years later and it's the one about Janine Balding & that case was quite shocking and unexpecting as well.

This is absolutely heartbreaking. Her husband lost the light of his life, her parents lost their baby girl, her sister lost her role model and that teenage boy will always remember that cursed night - and probably feels guilt for "not doing more" even though he did as much as he possibly could.
ik you made this comment 11 months ago but i feel so bad for them. especially the husband- not only did he lose his wife but he lost his child not long before the death of his wife. its heartbreaking honestly
That words from Anita's daddy "I wish I could say that's not my daughter, but then It would be somebody else's daughter and they'd be going through what I'm going through now" just broke my heart, and sob in pain. dude that's was so painful.
My heart breaks for John. He really loved Anita and to be put into a corner about her murder is horrible. His mental state must be in shambles. I can’t imagine her parents pain when they realized that their beautiful daughter was dead. Omg this is a SAD case.
I would absolutely die. This poor man. I said it in another comment here, I would rather end it all than deal with this level of pain that John went through. My husband is my everything. Can you imagine the pain and anger? It's just too much.

The thing that this teenage boy and his neighbor did is very very brave, they did everything that they can and they should be proud of themselves even through she didn’t make it:/.
That's true, also some jerk commented on here say the teenage boy, his sister and their neighbour all suck because they didn't report and call the police about it which I believe is untrue.
me too!! solved cases soothes me in a way, it’s just something about knowing that the justice is made and the monsters who done all those horrible things didn’t get away with it is very reassuring idk, but it’s sad to know that some people crossed the monsters’s paths either way
This is my absolute worst nightmare. What happened to Anita should never happen to anyone, ever. There's just no reason for the brutality humankind inflict on each other. John's pain is deeply heartbreaking and what a beautiful spirit that brave teenager had to protect a stranger.
It annoyed me that her husband wouldn't identify her body. I also say this as question. If I was in his situation, I'd rather do it than make her parents do it. I'm a woman, btw. And I'd rather live with seeing that than making parents see that. Of course I don't know what I'd REALLY do. But I have been in some smaller situations where I felt like I had to step up to save someone else more pain. What do you all think? (Edit: left out a word.) (another edit: I wrote this mid-way through the video.)
@Catboy Jin If you are old enough to get married, "Man up." And again, I'm a woman but have "manned up," just using that phrase. I do appreciate your response even though I disagree! And I like your username. 😸
@Catboy Jin But why do you feel awful for the husband but not the father? I appreciate your response and I'm glad we can just have a conversation about it! You can say you are done -- or just not reply -- and I'm fine with that. I'm just so curious. I'd rather identify a spouse or even a friend than make their parents see their child like that. Open question. Just discussion. And hopefully NONE of us will ever have to do this! 💞 to all. (edit: accidentally posted when I wasn't finished!)
Eleanor: She signed up for those Spanish classes that she always wanted to sign up Me: :) Eleanor: But Anita Cobby would never get to go to those Spanish classes Me: :(
I’m from Sydney Australia, I wasn’t born during the time of her death but I can tell you now, it still sticks with every Australian. All of Australia HATE those men. Most almost everyone knows the name Anita cobby. Or knows someone who does. Thank you so much for covering this case.
as an Australian, i haven't actually heard of this case but i am glad to be learning about it now. i bet if i asked my parents about this though they would have heared of it
I've heard about this case and it's so heartbreaking of what happened to Anita. Also there was another case that happened two years after Anita Cobby's death & it's the murder of Janine Balding and they're both compared to each other & I hope Eleanor covers that case in future.
I was 18 when she was murdered...remember this so well. I remember wishing we had the death penalty when the monsters were caught...I lived over an hour away from Blacktown on the Northern Beaches but every woman in Sydney and surrounding suburbs was afraid until they caught the bastards. We all still grieve for her too.
I feel so bad for John. That poor man lost the love of his life, and was then forced to admit to killing her when he was innocent, only for them to throw his confession away in the end anyways. He was put through so much unnecessary trauma, it’s just horrible. I hope that he was eventually able to find peace with the situation.
Even just hearing her talk about it (I’m listening to her right now cause I’m doing something) but you can hear in her voice how much she loves love. It’s beautiful
Yes He was so exhausted and emotionally drained ,he was convinced he must of killed the love of his life. He didn't care. He was so grief stricken... He wanted them to shoot him. That is soooo sad.Thats true love. I hope he's ok. He's been through the wringer. John is a decent man. You can tell . He adored get. She was the one.
This case made such a huge impact in Australia that all of us still know Anita's name and are horrified by what happened to her. Those men are hands down the most hated, evil beings.
It definitley shook the nation! We have tons of crime here as does every country, but (thankfully) not too many stories like this one... I’ll never stop thinking of this woman. Australia never will.
I live near Pinegrove where she is buried, and the amount of people that still put flowers and stuff at her grave is unreal. 100% the most hated men in Aus. We learnt about this at a young age because it was such a full on case, definitely made us more observant growing up in the area
I absolutely love how you describe the victims prior to the crime - how their family remembered them, how much they were loved. I think that’s so important with these horror stories...
My God. Her injuries, the description of her eyes, dead with agony and terror...brought tears to my eyes. I don't care that I have seen hundreds of true crime videos, murders like this NEVER get easier to listen to. That poor woman, her poor family. God, the monsters who did it, I hope the things are MISERABLE.
They are miserable mate. Australia never forgot Anita, even after all these years. I was just a small child at the time but I remember it vividly, the beautiful nurse that never made it home. Those boys are still locked up and Australia still hates them. They will never be released and they will never be forgiven.

Not gonna lie, everytime it pops up on the news that one of those f***kers have died, or been assaulted in jail, everyone single person here in Aus goes to sleep with a smile on their face.
The fact the police regularly come out and confirm these c*nts are still safely in prison just sums up how much we've all been affected by Anita's case.
Recently the oldest of the murphy brothers (i wont use its name as it doesn't deserve the waste of oxygen) died in prison from cancer. I personally felt very sorry for the particular strain of cancer that was suffering from murphy.
Gary was bashed (sorry couldn't figure out where in the order he was) in prison recently, but he's also been given quite a lot of money from someone who left his estate to him so he doesn't have as terrible time as you would wish.
i feel so bad for john, imagine loosing the love of your life, and then the police pin it on you, absolutely destroying you to the point you give a false confession. my heart aches for him :(
I'm very impressed by the teenage boy you mentioned at the end who went out of his way to investigate the screams he had heard- that was very brave of him honestly.
I’m from Sydney Australia, My husband and John Hobby were surfing mates at Maroubra beach during their late teens. My husband always spoke highly of John, he was just a lovely guy. The last time I saw John was 6 years ago at my husband’s funeral.
I've thought of murder never do it of course but I'm not concerned but you what's funny I'm scared to walk alone because I'm a pussy but love true crime
Eleanor seriously, your channel is just so good. You put so much work into your research, care to give warnings and disclaimers, you give so much information, people aren't joking when we say you should get a Netflix show or something. Putting on your videos feels like watching documentaries.
she put very little work into the research of this cast, and most of it is pure assumptions from what she has read on internet or newspaper clippings, to make a story out of it,
Imagine the father having to go to his grave with that image haunting him. I understand not wanting a mother to see that, but the father isn't much better either. It's a shame ,but I guess you've got to do it for justice..
"I wish I could say that's not my daughter, but then it would be somebody else's daughter, and they would be going through what I'm going through now." That quote made me tear up. That poor man. I’m from Australia and this case is still talked about to this day. She was such a beautiful young woman with so much life ahead of her. It was absolutely tragic and heartbreaking that she came across these monsters. Absolute animals!
I'm an Aussie woman to.I was only a kid when it happened, but it's such a tragic.. story. So many lives affected. She had everything in front of her and " wrong place.. wrong time" scenario.
Was wondering if I'd see a comment like this. I grew up around the corner from where this happened but a decade or so later. It is still told and retold as a cautionary tale, and still shakes us up even if we weren't alive to have experienced the immediate coverage of this tragedy.
This story makes me physically ill to think of. I live so close to where she was taken, whenever I am on that road driving by, I cannot stop thinking of Anita and how her life was so brutally taken away from her.
Ashley Swann, that's such a kind comment, and I completely agree. What a brave thing that young man did. Such a stark contrast to the five cowardly savages who brutalized and murdered a woman walking alone.
I feel SO bad for her parents. Imagine knowing your daughter not only has been murdered, but has been murdered in such a brutal way. It breaks my heart
its absolutely normal. fear takes over you and you just want to avoid that sensation. i too would speed walk home and not be able to follow like they did. major props to them
It really got to me when her husband started screaming saying " no no please don't take her away from me. As they were taking her coffin away at her funeral. I hope he finds peace x
I think about this sometimes, like imagine being questioned about a murder you didn't commit and your alibi is just "uhh I was at home watching Netflix" - like that's what I'm doing 90% of my evenings
Can we all just appreciate the amount of respect this girl has for literally everyone involved in these videos! In every video she is so polite and respectful with what she says. The amount of research and effort Eleanor does as well is honestly beyond me 😱🙏
The promoting of things like video games, apps ect at the start of the videos comes off as a little tone death sometimes, especially more recently. I think the sponsors could be better picked
@@SaffrnE it’s called a sponsor lmao. sponsors give you money so you can make your videos better. also this is Eleanors job she obviously as to make money lol
It's sexist and demeaning to suggest a woman is too frail to face her own child in death and is forced apart, therefore forcing this awful trauma on the man who is supposed to, of course, be the untouchable, unshakeable rock as it is. Those officers should've been reprimanded.
Exactly what I thought when I heard that part. No loving parent, regardless of sex or gender, wants to see their child in that state. And many people cannot withstand such sight without feeling emotions even if they don't know the person.
i hate it when eleanor is talking about how great their life was and that their future seemed so bright because ik that they end up dying, it just makes me so sad that their life was taken from them when they had such a bright future ahead of them
It's good to talk of the victims life and even killers life it keeps humanity to the subject being talked about. These were people had lives and this is their story type of thing. It's easy to say 'they are just another victim, they are just another killer.' Telling their story reminds people these are infact humans and real.
This was terrifying. It’s awful to think that just one turn of events could lead to something like this happening. If the phones had been working that night, her dad would have picked her up. So sad to think about her final moments x
I listen to true crime cases daily. I've heard Anita's story but never told like you told it Eleanor. I dont know if I'm the only one but I cried. I cried for Anita, what she went through in her last hours horrific. I cried for John. I cried for her parents. God bless them all.
That's awful. That's just awful. This case has affected me in a way no other on this channel has before. I felt an indescribably small fraction of the anguish her family did and I nearly cried at the autopsy. Absolutely speechless
I was a young kid when this happened and I remember the news reports and people talking about it. It has never left me - the horror of what happened to that poor young woman just haunted me. I can't even watch your video as just seeing her name brings me to tears, but I wanted to say thanks for covering this story because she deserves to be remembered.
When people try to deny that evil exists, it's obvious they've never seen anything like this, never lost anyone, were never directly touched by it. How can anyone hear this story and doubt the existence of evil?
Like I understand not having people to confirm your alibi, but like, "I was home alone" isn't that uncommon? How often are people having friends/family over to confirm every single day of their lives? Like that plus him being the husband isn't enough for them to be dead set he did it?
exactly, i spend most of my time these days at home alone or on walks alone i understand needing confirmation for alibis but it’s not like i text my friends “is is 3:45 pm i am at home alone”
Thank you Eleanor for doing this case. I’m from Australia and also a nurse. I am part of the generation that followed Anita Cobby. It was something that completely changed our culture forever. We as nurses never spoke about it, but there was a mutual understanding we never went anywhere alone. We always finished our shifts and went back to our cars together. The hospital security’s main job was walk nurses who were alone to their cars. It was just common practice. It’s such an horrific case that really shaped our industry forever. I hope in some way Anitas legacy can protect everyone from this ever happening again. Thank you again xoxo 😘💗💕
I think she did an amazing job, although I’m mildly irritated by the fact that she keeps saying Sydney when Blacktown and Redfern are part of Sydney. I know she’s not from here but it isn’t hard to fact check that one.
I like how she presents the case. Great story telling style but she embellish a few things. And they are a number of things that she presents that need to be fact checked.
This is literally one of the only cases I ever cried over it’s so sad because they were so in love and where just going to fix their marriage and someone decided to take that from them and it makes me so sad
I was born in Blacktown hospital and have lived there all my life, crimes rates still through the roof unfortunately. This story is still one of the most tragic ones around our area 🥺
I might of misheard but I think she also said Rome was a country. Kinda made me giggle. Which is nice since this case is so horrible i needed a giggle 😂 10:15
That teenage boy that went after the kidnappers is so brave. I really wonder why his report to the police wasn’t taken very seriously (or so it seems given that it took them days later to connect that with this case)
Her husband and her look so beautiful and happy in those photos. And they were going to reconcile...I've seen some of the interviews and it's clear he still loves her and feels guilty about her death. Even tho it wasn't his fault. He had no way of knowing this would happen, that on this particular night the phones are going to be out of service and she'd be walking alone. Nobody could've predicted this and it's so sad. I do hope he finds some peace and healing in the future.
I live 10 minutes away where she was found. They renamed the road years ago and the area looks different. Really sad for this to happen to someone who’s career was to care for other humans. RIP.
As an Aussie just seeing the thumbnail gave me all sorts of emotions. I remember when this happened and still feel upset to this day. Such a beautiful life destroyed by pure evil.. We will never forget you Anita

There was this case in my city with a young boy and this case actually then caused a law to change and still, not that many people seem to remember his name and I probably wouldn't either if my mother hadn't worked for the local police at the time but I make it a point to remember him because he deserves that. This was all in Germany in 2007.It makes me so goddamn sad that so many have forgotten about this little boy. His name was Mitja and I refuse to ever forget his name.
This case absolutely gutted Australia permanently not to mention the tragic aftermath her family has suffered. RIP Anita always and forever a Beauty Queen 👸💔 🇦🇺

Hi Eleanor if you're reading this can you put "part 1" or "part 2" in your video titles? I'm a big fan and I think it'll make finding which video you want to watch easier
If you go to her channel the parts are always following each other. Go to "videos" not the main page. I guess she does that so people that don't know her still click on her video if it is a part 2. More visibility I guess. :)
You come across as the same sort of sincere, very friendly, kind, direct and honest person you seem to admire when you speak of people like Anita. Your genuine empathy for the victims of these crimes and your unaffected manner makes you seem like a friend or family member talking fondly about their lost loved one. NEVER let anyone try to polish you up or change your delivery in any way and please do continue as you are. You have a gift for making a story relatable and that is worth something.
This story was one of the hardest ones for me to hear and it’s not even over yet. I might have to skip part 2 but I won’t forget Anita’s name or what a beautiful caring woman she was. RIP sweetheart.
If you are sensitive to these things, don't listen to part 2. What happened to her is about as horrific as it gets. I'm from Australia, and none of us can ever forget what happened to her.
I cannot imagine what her father must have gone through when he had to take on the responsibility of seeing her. No parent should have to see their child like that.
Eleanor, you have a wisdom beyond your years and deliver your stories with a sense of compassion. I am rather addicted to your channel now, having just discovered you 2 weeks ago. Very good work.
As an Australian girl this case really has stuck with me. Often when Im alone somewhere at night like walking to my car after work I think about what happened to Anita. Truely absolutely heartbreaking :(
@@libbycook6380 it's not just that they weren't common, they also didn't have the functionality to text in those days! Not being mean to Eleanor at all, it's so easy to say call and text as that's what we're used to these days!
She says this with a lot of cases that were before cellphones. I think it’s because we are just so use to saying that and she’s young as well, unlike someone who grew up without them (like myself), her generation has always had them.
I can't get over how beautiful Anita's smile was, and how happy she and John looked together. I can't imagine the pain he must've been in, losing his future in such a brutal way and then having police screaming at you that you did it yourself. I hope he's recovered as best he can be now.
I can't even imagine being so distraught that you confess to a murder you know you didn't commit, but begin to truly second guess whether or not you did it still! I pray for the whole family and all the friends effected by this horrific crime.
Isnt it disgusting! I understand they want answers but there are so many better tactics. They are just ruining a life while trying to solve the cruel ending of another. Given my mental health I’d be straight in the psych ward heavily sedated
I am so glad that boy did something, it's just a shame he was too late to save her. But, wtf with the ones who saw her being bundled up and kidnapped, and didn't call the police?? People need to stop being bystanders, and do something. Stop thinking someone else will make the call, and make the call yourself. Who cares if 100 people call about the same thing, at least the call was actually made, and the person has a chance. If we all rely on someone else is going to do it, think of all the people who we will fail.
This happened in the early 90's it's not like people had cellphones but the way that teenage boy insisted on trying to help Anita was so amazingly brave especially because it was a group of boys who could of killed him and i watched the documentary about Anita's kidnapping and it is the saddest and scariest thing i ever watched.
I don’t believe in the bystander effect, I’m always ready to be a hero even if it’s for my own ego. I’ve saved many friends who overdosed, and I always want to help people because I’ve been in many situations where no one helped me.
i so much admire and love how in each of her videos, eleanor talks about the person’s life before talking about how they were a victim. she never starts with “this person was murdered,” she always tells us about how this person was a PERSON first, not a victim. she tells us about their childhood, their hobbies and interests, their life goals, the love they had, everything that made them, them. i think that’s a beautiful way to honor their memory when sharing their story.
This case makes me so unbelievably sad and angry. Sad because of the loss of a beautiful and kind soul. Sad for her family that loved her so much. Angry that there are “humans” out there who can do something so horrific my mind can’t even comprehend and not feel a shred of guilt. What a waste of humanity.
Her husband is still so tortured by this. I hope he can eventually find some sort of peace.
He and his son recently changed their name back to Cobby
he deserves the best
Me too! I just want him to find happiness in life now...just Eleanor saying how he couldn't bring himself to see the body to identify... I know I couldn't either. His son? Did he have a child with her ?and his name was already cobby was it not if that's anitas married name
So many lives are changed for the worst.. for ever. So sad!(
Props to the teenage boy for actually caring and trying to do something when most people would not even care to help

The guy who saw the kidnapping and immediately went to follow the car always gets me. I can’t think of many people who would think that quickly and chase after them to try help AND do the responsible thing and call the police straight after. He’s a hero in this case even if he was too late
And the fact that he was a teenage boy!! He was so sharp and brave. He's an amazing man now

i've always admired how eleanor humanizes the victims as best as she can to remind you they were people with their own lives of course.

I've read a lot about cows' social behaviors. They comfort each other during birth, or losing a calf. They have friends and get excited to see each other. I wonder if they knew congregating around Anita would attract the farmer and so they wanted to stay with her until he noticed, not wanting to leave her.
Cows are too cute
Could be that. Or they saw a dead human and were confused
Cows are very social animals, it's conceivable that they were trying to attract the farmer's attention as they would know what the farmer's role in their lives was
Omg that thought just made me so weepy. Because, what if that’s exactly what these animals did for her. My heart literally hurts
Either that or maybe they were even trying to comfort her.

i hate it when eleanor is talking about how great their life was and that their future seemed so bright because ik that they end up dying, it just makes me so sad that their life was taken from them when they had such a bright future ahead of them
It's good to talk of the victims life and even killers life it keeps humanity to the subject being talked about.
It would have just been a different woman we’d be hearing about.
@@xobmw sad but true
John Cobby went through sheer HELL.... my heart goes out to him for all that pain he felt.
I seriously can’t fathom how human beings can do this to another human seriously sick.
Ikr there sick!
This isn’t a human being! It’s the devil 😈
@Catboy Jin they just wanted an easy way out of a difficult case
exactly, i spend most of my time these days at home alone or on walks alone i understand needing confirmation for alibis but it’s not like i text my friends “is is 3:45 pm i am at home alone”
I very rarely have company over to my home. I am home alone very often. It is not uncommon.
now i understand why my mum wants my phone to be fully charged when i leave the house
That teenage boy was more of a human than most
people.
Hearing how John reacted at Anita's funeral is heartbreaking. Seriously brought tears to my eyes.
This is literally one of the only cases I ever cried over it’s so sad because they were so in love and where just going to fix their marriage and someone decided to take that from them and it makes me so sad
Same this makes me feel better about crying
I was born in Blacktown hospital and have lived there all my life, crimes rates still through the roof unfortunately. This story is still one of the most tragic ones around our area 🥺
eleanor: "this was before mobile phones"
also eleanor: "he would be constantly calling and texting her"
I think you’re the only one that caught that 😂😂. We’re so caught up in the case that we somehow miss that
She says it was before they were common
@@MarzeNguyenStevenson dude there weren’t commercial cell phones in 1980. Wasn’t even born then but even I know that haha
RIP.
Police: “beats and yells at John telling him to confess”
John: “confesses”
Police: *Nah ion want it anymore*
RIGHT! Smh
🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Hey, no one said the New South Wales police aren’t corrupt as fuck.
As an Aussie just seeing the thumbnail gave me all sorts of emotions. I remember when this happened and still feel upset to this day. Such a beautiful life destroyed by pure evil..
We will never forget you Anita
Me too - I commented but I can't watch it. It's just one of those things you never forget hearing about and the details are beyond sickening. I can't stand to hear about it again but I"m glad Anita is still in people's minds and hearts.
Hello
The fact that John had to try and numb his pain by using heroin is so heartbreaking
This case absolutely gutted Australia permanently not to mention the tragic aftermath her family has suffered. RIP Anita always and forever a Beauty Queen 👸💔 🇦🇺
I’m literally from 20 mins away from the area it happened. And yeah ALL aussies are still angry about this crime! Her anniversary was recent and everyone was talking about it!
I live near there also. Everytime I see that lot where the gas station was I feel sick to my stomach.
@@tommylee1501 I’m in Penrith but spent a lot of time in blacktown over the years. Just tragic what happened. I was 12 when I first heard about it and my blood has been boiling with anger ever since. That poor woman, she was literally one of us like it’s just the worst. I refuse to get off at blacktown station I’ll always go to parramatta then catch a bus or something the station gives me the creeps and I feel nothing but pain walking around there just knowing what happened all those years ago...

I love sitting in bed at night with a hot coffee watching true crime lmao.
Its kind of like a comfort thing for me, love your videos they're always so detailed and easy to understand :)
Hi Eleanor if you're reading this can you put "part 1" or "part 2" in your video titles? I'm a big fan and I think it'll make finding which video you want to watch easier
YESS it pisses me off so much its so hard to watch her vidoes when theyre so vague
This has been commented so many times, but it seems like she's ignoring them :(
If you go to her channel the parts are always following each other. Go to "videos" not the main page. I guess she does that so people that don't know her still click on her video if it is a part 2. More visibility I guess. :)
@@amylong9449 pretty sure it’s up to her editors
@@simpysompywomb5470 Thats a good point actually
it’s so heartbreaking how upset her husband was 😢
You come across as the same sort of sincere, very friendly, kind, direct and honest person you seem to admire when you speak of people like Anita.
It's insane what can happen to a person within a 30 to 40 minute walk home. 😔
it’s crazy. and it gets worse day by day you cant even walk in the daylight on the wrong street without a gut feeling you might die
Rest in peace anita💖❤you'll always be remembered by all of us and are sorry for what has happened to you

“You know, cows are cows.” Had me dying with laughter
As an Australian girl this case really has stuck with me. Often when Im alone somewhere at night like walking to my car after work I think about what happened to Anita. Truely absolutely heartbreaking :(
eleanor: cellphones were not really a thing in the 80s
also eleanor: he texted and called all the time lol
I caught that 😆
She meant that they weren’t common
@@libbycook6380 it's not just that they weren't common, they also didn't have the functionality to text in those days! Not being mean to Eleanor at all, it's so easy to say call and text as that's what we're used to these days!
She says this with a lot of cases that were before cellphones. I think it’s because we are just so use to saying that and she’s young as well, unlike someone who grew up without them (like myself), her generation has always had them.
@@libbycook6380 there was absolutely no texting in the 80s lol
I can't get over how beautiful Anita's smile was, and how happy she and John looked together. I can't imagine the pain he must've been in, losing his future in such a brutal way and then having police screaming at you that you did it yourself. I hope he's recovered as best he can be now.
I can't even imagine being so distraught that you confess to a murder you know you didn't commit, but begin to truly second guess whether or not you did it still! I pray for the whole family and all the friends effected by this horrific crime.
Seriously - That "enhanced interrogation" sounded traumatizing. :( ACAB.
But didn't most people have house phones? If they were at home they could have run inside and called the police
@@breab379 Exactly!
I don’t believe in the bystander effect, I’m always ready to be a hero even if it’s for my own ego. I’ve saved many friends who overdosed, and I always want to help people because I’ve been in many situations where no one helped me.
You can hear the genuine joy in Eleanors voice for the victims good times ,heart breaking
ELEANOR YOU HAVE BEEN ON A ROLL WITH THESE CONSISTENT UPLOADS!!!
frrrrr
ua-cam.com/video/bLeVjiNoJVM/v-deo.html
damn that young lad that heard the scream and chased the car is a real MVP good on him
i so much admire and love how in each of her videos, eleanor talks about the person’s life before talking about how they were a victim. she never starts with “this person was murdered,” she always tells us about how this person was a PERSON first, not a victim. she tells us about their childhood, their hobbies and interests, their life goals, the love they had, everything that made them, them. i think that’s a beautiful way to honor their memory when sharing their story.
