    Loved this sparty! Was up with my youngling teething, watched the CA lore talk it was so meger started re-watching your ones then boob (I was gonna edit this out but i think I'll let the slip stand) a brand new one soooo happy!
    Looking forward to the pantheon honestly don't know how you keep all their names straight. In my head they are all "not-Isis", "Not-Anubis" even though the god that looks like anubis acts more like Set with a dead guy focus whatever your still not-anubis!

    • @italianspartacus
      @italianspartacus  6 років тому

      hahaha well they all play off of the Egyptian pantheon which I already know a considerable amount, so it's easy to sort of keep in line.. it's all the minor gods that really make me look over my own shoulder, but i'm glad you enjoyed, Sam! always great to see your comments :)

    I'm curious if Khalida would have any army or faction buffs to constructs, since Lybaras was known for its inventors - and iirc they were the first to make the ushabti. Normally, I would expect Khateb as hierophant of the mortuary cult to get them, but it would be cool to see Khalida with some ushabti- or scorpion-related goodies as well.

    I remember from the top of my head, (might be wrong though) that Mahrak was the sacred city of the old Nehekharian gods. It was the home of the Ushabti (as you might know, each Ushabti was a representation of their patron gods, with some of their atributes) and priests of all the Nehekharian pantheon. There was a big temple one for each deidity and it even had sacred cats! I'm not going to spoil the book but as you may have realised, it had a bitter end, quite bitter in my opinion, as it seemed such a cool city.
    As i said before i could be wrong so i'd really appreciate if anyone of you could correct me or add anything interesting about Mahrak.
    Nice vid Spartacus!
    Edit: Oh and sorry for any grammatical error!

    • @italianspartacus
      @italianspartacus  6 років тому +1

      IRON!!!! haven't heard from you in a time :) but yeah i think that was in the old 6th edition book.. around 7th/8th edition they sort of changed the fact that Ushabti are everywhere. their lore got ap retty big shift in the latter editions to be a lot more servile

    • @Taln
      @Taln 6 років тому

      ItalianSpartacus Heyy sparty! How is it going?? Yeah i remember that Ushabti only were at the temples OR with the let's say "pharaoh", meaning that the gods accepted and supported him (as well as being like bodyguards).
      Of course i could be wrong too, it's been a long time since i read that book.

    • @Taln
      @Taln 6 років тому

      SPOILERS ALERT!
      Maybe the title of City of Decay could be coming from the fact that Nagash killed all the poor kittens at the temples 😣😣😣.(Or maybe it was the citizens starving that ate them? I can't remember) Man fuck Nagash, he destroyed both Ka-Sabar and Mahrak, such an asshole!

    Thanks for this Ryan, it's really nice to have the lore fleshed out at such depth, particularly for a faction that has such a connection to a specific region.

    No, but seriously, to make the armies( empire and chaos) on the same level, Firstly, I think they should’ve given the Reiksguard blessings of all the imperial gods, to make them stronger than chaos knights, cause let’s be honest, chaos infantry is stronger than empire infantry, chaos cav( Bloodcrushers) are stronger than empire cav(Demigryphs) , the empire has no monsters, so chaos dominates that area, so the empire is only strong in artillery, but not even there, cause of the chaos dwarves

    Well Nagash's Pyramid is so huge it became its own settlement in Total War Warhammer.
    I am wondering what changes will that building get, since it is linked to the Tomb Kings Campaign victory conditions. Will it get the Oak of Ages Treatment and become a unique Single Slot Settlement Province?

  • @zedek_
    @zedek_ 6 років тому +6

    Hey Spartacus, great video as always, but I thought you would be interested to know that semitic languages often, if not always, pronounce the "KH" sound as... a slightly constricted "H." *Think of the German way of saying the name Bach* . Given the inspiration for Tomb Kings, it's likely that this is the proper way to say the "KH" sounds.
    In other words, Khemri should be said as "Hemri"
    This guy makes the sound for you:
    web.stanford.edu/dept/lc/arabic/alphabet/letters/letter7.html
    Party Elite actually mentioned this recently on one of his Tomb King vids, and he's right that it's probably a "voiceless velar fricative."

    • @italianspartacus
      @italianspartacus  6 років тому +2

      more than likely! but there's also the big way that Warhammer distinguishes or purposely plays with the pronunciation of words. Take all of Bretonnia for example- a lot of their names are pronounced different than their French roots.
      i'll definitely look into it though- you guys know how i am about pronunciation :)

    • @zedek_
      @zedek_ 6 років тому

      That a good point; inspired by =/= exact duplicate, necessarily.
      On the other hand, sticking with Bretonnia, some words like Beaquis absolutely rely on French linguistics to make any kind of sense, especially if they're a subtle joke like Beaquis (beaky vs bea-qwis). But hey, it's Dwarfs and Elfs here, so I certainly can't say for sure.
      That aside, come on dude, you know it sounds fucking cool! Hahaha. Just say "Khalida" in the proper semitic way; I think that's way more badass.

    • @zedek_
      @zedek_ 6 років тому

      +ItalianSpartacus
      So I clicked on Khatep, and the first thing I hear him say is, "I will return to *HEMRI*!"
      He doesn't say the phrase every time, but I thought you'd like to know.
      I also listened to the intros for everyone on Eye of the Vortex, because I like that the lords speak for themselves, and Khatep once again says "Hemri." I do like to play on Mortal Empires though, and when I started up Khatep's campaign, the adviser called him "Hatep."

    Hey, I have a question, are the imperial gods( Morr, Sigmar, Ulric, Taal) even Myrmida, stronger than the chaos gods?

    • @italianspartacus
      @italianspartacus  6 років тому

      uhh different that's for sure.. the imperial gods are even hinted to be some daemons in some cases, and in others, they're dead humans (sigmar).. the chaos gods are a bit more... ephemeral and eternal .. all of the imperial gods get really shrugged off- which is a shame.
      the pantheons of other races really just fall to the wayside because the chaos gods have their daemons, so it's pretty annoying

  • @LyricalDJ
    @LyricalDJ 6 років тому +1

    Nice video. One point, though: vitae is pronounced v-tai (as in tailor).

    • @italianspartacus
      @italianspartacus  6 років тому

      actually it depends on which type of latin you're talking about and what region you're from UK vs. US.
      I went with v-thai as i like the sound of it more.. but v-tay is also correct ;)
      it's like veni vini vici and it's different pronunciations depending on classic or church latin: "weni wini wisi" or "veni vini vici"
      Both are right, none are wrong!
