Yeah, that's a really weird inconsistency that GW never even thought of addressing. The natural thing would have been for each dynasty to destroy the previous dynasty's tombs. The various kings of each dynasty would probably be fine with (or at least might consider) bringing back their own granddaddy to rule barring some power-hungry exceptions. However, when the next dynasty usurps the previous dynasty and was promised to be the ruling dynasty of future utopia Nehekhara you would think that the new dynasty would ransack or demolish all the previous tombs or even simply replace all of the mummfied kings and soldiers of the previous dynasty in the tombs with their own soldiers and kings. The only excuse is that it is such a taboo thing to the Nehekharan mind that most would never even consider destroying a fellow king's tomb, but clearly, there were exceptions. The primary example of such an exception being Nagash himself. If Nagash was so ruthless as to tax his subjects into open revolt and monopolize all the building materials despite being immortal and having eternity to complete his project, then he would obviously cannibalize the existing ancient tombs. Namely, Settra's pyramid is right next door. He would have ripped that apart to build his own monument or even simply kicked out all of Settra's stuff and just modified Settra's pyramid to be a monument to Nagash's own glory.

@@notinspectorgadget The Tomb Kings, known as the Priest Kings in their former lives, are the undying rulers of Nehekhara, an ancient Human civilisation that formed a great and powerful empire some two thousand five hundred years before the birth of Sigmar Heldenhammer and the founding of the Empire. Out of all the unliving creatures that would claim dominion and royalty over the dead, only the Tomb Kings could truly claim such masterful and undisputed sovereignty. For they had once ruled a mighty and far-flung empire during a time when the rest of Mankind were little more than savage barbarians. Long ago, during an ancient and forgotten age, Nehekhara stood as a shining beacon of civilisation and Human achievement; a golden age when its cities shone with a majestic splendour, its buildings crafted from magnificent marble and limestone, its armies capable of conquering entire kingdoms. In this long-lost age, Nehekhara's mighty rulers reigned as living gods amongst men. But this great realm was destroyed millennia ago through acts of great treachery and powerful sorcery. The living of Nehekhara perished long ago in a single, mournful night, and in their absence, the dead stirred from their graves and claimed the land anew. Even as their ancient civilisation now lies buried beneath the sand, its once verdant plains turned to searing desert and their mighty and glorious empire fractured and in ruin, the Tomb Kings have once more awoken from their deep sleep. Rising from their decrepit sarcophagi, the mummified rulers of Nehekhara awoke with eyes of burning balefire, their thirst for power, conquest and vengeance just as strong in death as in life. They have returned to reclaim that which is rightfully theirs, their legions innumerable, rising up from the scorching sand brandishing weapons of polished bronze and priceless gold. Ancient, emotionless and spiteful to all those that have slighted them, woe betide those foolish enough to stand before their silent onslaught.

Nagash buried Thutep alive because a murderer is forbidden to marry the victims wife. The queen in question was also the daughter of the sun whom was their sacred covenant with the gods made flesh. He murdered her son and only heir to make the elixir of damnation/eternal life and tricked Neferem (Thutep's wife) into drinking it and bound her to his will. Then he proceeded to abuse the shit out of her for hundreds of years culminating in him throwing her against the walls of Mahrak to break their covenant with the gods forever.
Is there a separate set of books on Nagash and the Tomb kings other than the ones by Mike Lee? Its been awhile since I read it but there seems to be a few discrepancies between Arch's lore and those books.
Hey arch! Great video! Could you please talk about the Fimir in warhammer fantasy? They’ve been kicked under an ever increasing perpetual rug and I think it’d be cool if you gave them some light in a lore video
on page 570 of nagash the immortal it states that the skaven dumped discs of god-stone into "the great tarn" from which flows "the great river" of nehekhara. Does the story of him using the black pyramid come from the codex?
Great intro but one thing still kinda bothers me. Why the hell has that lore-obsessed Skaven-thing that book on his desk? That book is "Ciaphas Cain: Hero of the Imperium" by Sandy Mitchell. Skaven are not in W40k!
LocalHeretic 1127 indeed loyal citizen of the Imperium, we’ll have this rabble rouser dealt with in no time, Skaven don’t exist! If you see any other such foolish people report it to your local Arbites pronto
Awesome as always, but i want to know if you skipped some important stuff about how Nagash learned to make the elixir of Immortality by first extracting the soul of people into himself to use magic (this he learned from the Dark elves) and how Nagash was shot in the head by gunners from Lahmia, not defeated outside the Gate of Khemri. I bet you have read 'The Rise of Nagash' which is a really good read, so you must be saving all the Juciy details for a spesific lore-video about that
Didn't the Skaven aid Nagash in poisoning the river? He promised them warp stone in return. After Nagash suffered his defeat he fled, built up a new army, discovered warp stone and used it to strengthen him and had a really long war with the Skaven. He also almost died during that war.

Holy s#it, Arch. This is how I always imagined you: a malevolent, stuffy old irradiated horned skaven.
Only more albino. Chewing on kittens.
Why do I imagine a Liche Priest carving into the Bones of a particular King he hated runes that when they inevitably bring him back, eventually, that he forever suffer from ED?
ED?

You're in the army now....
Without a funeral shroud.....
You'll never get rich,
You son of a lich,
Your in the army now.
Gonna have to watch this one twice, spent the first watch wondering what Kyle did this time to have his head mounted..
He’s Kyle that’s good enough a reason
for some reason Settra is really good at children card games
Ah, a man of culture, I see.
Love the introduction it seems like your Productions are getting more and more let's go with beautiful every month or so and that my friend is awesome
I "love" the fact that GW retconned that Settra was was remade as a Sigmarine
Love the "new" intro and background it's just marvellous
Intro was great, keep the fantasy lore coming dude
AHACKTUALLY, people who lived past their 20's in older times IRL often lived to their 70's. Early death was the issue, not late.
Depends on the era, in ancient Rome or Egypt sure, but not in early or late medieval times where famine and disease were ravaging both the adult and young population
@@Damian-ew1vl gotta be historically illeterate for that statement to be uttered.
@@JohnJohnson-hu3um ah yes, because 50 year old peasants were commonplace
@@Damian-ew1vl they were
@@JohnJohnson-hu3um LMAO, this isn't tolkien-esque middle earth, this is shitty medieval european life I'm talking about
Hold up ... wasnt the great mortis river poisened by the skaven in the name of nagash? thats the first time i hear it was actually a spell from nagash himself
Well that was a nice light hearted start to the weekend. I think I'll just go and have a lie down.
Arch no "pecking order" TFS joke at 9:30 I'm disappointed.
Barry Bend sadly with their total cancelation of DBZ abridged they’re kind of a nonentity at this point. Their lost relevancy is while sad totally expected.
@@forrestdorman4870 well we can expect new series in the works.
Alright Maggots, here's the pecking order. It goes you, the dirt, the worms in the dirt, Settra's stool, the Lich Priests,
the Settra
Arch: The true heroes of the story...
Me, having only the barest knowledge of Warhammer Fantasy: The empire, led by Karl Fr-
Arch: The Skaven!
Me: Wait wut.
Oh cool Arch is gonna talk about the ossiarchs bone... oh wait nope, tomb kings.
Good stuff as always arch.
The tomb Kings have concubines? That brings a whole new meaning to the word boned.
That’s a side splitter, but it needs a stronger backbone.
Ah thank you Arch, been waiting on some lore on Nehekhara, keep it coming ;3
The second he said, Nagash, i knew where he was going, i was like "oh no...."
So... he was so impatient despite being immortal to construct his black pyramid that he would over tax his subjects to the point of rebellion... but somehow still pragmatic and levelheaded enough to not just destroy anyone who could oppose him in the belief that the others will eventually see its foolish to oppose him... something... something seems off.
The fact that airth/kibs head is mounted in the back still makes me laugh
you known i love the way arch explains lore, it has personality and life to it and my god his voice were do i go to discuss hiring this man to do voice work for my projects
by the 30 second mark I started thinking he animated his rimworld character..... our inquisitor is now a skaven...
What a story.
Is there a separate set of books on Nagash and the Tomb kings other than the ones by Mike Lee? Its been awhile since I read it but there seems to be a few discrepancies between Arch's lore and those books.
Sounds like Heresy calling out the Arch like this.
Love the new animated introduction, brother! Keep making great videos, and keep rocking your new fursona!
It's not an animation, dude. It's his face reveal video!
Anyone else start breathing fast when they see a new lore video because of how excited you are?
An Astartes helmet as a mushroom pot to the left, and Ciaphas Cain as book cover on the table. Arch, you cheesy rat, how you spoil us !
Super impatient that he fucks up his plans and also super patient after being defied by his subjugated kings. Right.
To stay atop the pile, you have to adapt. _This_ adaptation was.. a welcome suprise.
I feel so alone gonna end up a big ol' pile of them bones.
So, basically, Fantasy Egypt.
*I like it*
i just noticed he has a chipas cain HERO OF THE IMPERIUM book on his desk
The return of Archs true form, yes yes this pleases me
THAT INTRO!!!! :)
Arch rocking the casbah.
Poor Kyle.
Then again, he is used to being mounted
Who's Kyle?
sooooo much life waiting for Arch on the tomb kings hopefully more following this
This made me nostalgic. It made me remember when Arch did Warhammer lore befor WTW
Holy D A M N thats a nice new intro!
Arch that new intro is absolutely moistening
Ow god i only now noticed Kyle's head mounted on the wall XD
This new opening has my consent.
33:35 a chaotic battle ? Yes bloood *notice it's a battle between undead without blood or flesh*
Korn have left the tchat...
Embrace the fursona Arch.
One of us.
One of us.
One of us.
Totally forgot about the new background. Looks awesome Arch!!
Oh god Arch has gone full project melody.
Well now, that was an impressive intro. Well done.
Immediate thumbs up on great intro for the second time
Love the intro and the tomb kings lore.
Imagine if Nagash was a little bit more patient . or even a little less of a bastard.
I bet you have read 'The Rise of Nagash' which is a really good read, so you must be saving all the Juciy details for a spesific lore-video about that
He talks about the dark elve thing in an older video about the total war warhammer series.
Amish Necrons
Priests. Priests. Priests.
Arch, please tell us you are more accurate when programming industrial robots...
I would listen to 100 lore videos like this , very good job fellow 👍 best part is skaven , as always yes yes
Just realised Arch's trophy in the background
This is more of a general Tomb Kings video.
Judge dread shoulder pads and xenomorph inspired headdress
Has anyone told Nurgle about this form of eternal decay? Someone call grandfather and tell him the good news.
Not gonna lie, I thought the mega lore but animated was gonna appear
Didn't the Skaven aid Nagash in poisoning the river? He promised them warp stone in return. After Nagash suffered his defeat he fled, built up a new army, discovered warp stone and used it to strengthen him and had a really long war with the Skaven. He also almost died during that war.
Love the new intro arch. Very impressive and creative.
Sick intro! I knew I loved you for something or other
Man the tomb kings Enter name elder magical capabilities in the warhammer world
Are you telling me that a lichpriests staff is just a regenerateeyes.exe floppydisk?
YES! Absolutely misses Arch's lore vids
So these guys are basically Necrons in Warhammer Fantasy.
