Don’t know how accurate this is, but I was told that if one swaps tablet from BMPro to generic you loose BM Pro Cloud feature connectivity and you can’t monitor / control your coach remotely. Great episode though!
100% accurate! If you replace the OEM tablet with aftermarket you will indeed lose the cloud functionality to remotely monitor, so it'd only work with Bluetooth in the actual coach itself. I tried all sorts of different techniques and hacks to see if I could get it to work on aftermarket, but it's unfortunately not possible.
@@alanb.4660 Based on my testing I believe the BMPRO app itself detects when it is running on an OEM tablet based on a "signature" of the OS itself. Basically BMPRO made a custom Android ROM that runs on their tablets such that the app can detect it, and thereby present the option to register/setup the cloud whether initially or subsquent. That way it never gets confused and inadvertently registers a personal device as a cloud host, but the downside is an aftermarket replacement tablet won't let it register or setup the cloud. I tried all sorts of tricks such as logging out on the OEM tablet and removing all accounts on other devices, fully resetting the entire system, deleting my BMPRO account, etc. and then just pairing the aftermarket tablet by itself initially, but no luck. So, that's why I believe the app reads in a "signature" of sorts from the OEM tablet OS and that's how it recognizes to display the cloud setup option intially.

If you're looking for a physical direct fit-replacement, it likely needs to be 7" form factor. You could try looking on eBay or other secondhand marketplaces for the Lenovo M7 3rd Gen. Also, sometimes surplus sellers have the BMPRO tablet on eBay for a couple hundred.

I work on these, and they are not reliable at all. There are many issues. One big issue is that the battery in the tablet will die if the coach is not plugged in.
I want to replace the entire tablet but can not find out the factory tablet from Jayco. It is a 2021 Jayco Eagle 330 rsts, keeps blinking the bmpro screen.
Sometimes surplus stores sell them on eBay for less $$. Otherwise I believe it's $500-$600 to get through Jayco. Well, actually you'll be forced to buy through a dealer, but hopefully you can find a good dealer and they'll help you out. I found Jayco will not sell parts direct to you under any circumstances.
@@AdventureRocks I just ordered a control panel from camping world to replace my tablet and bezel, i hope this works it was costly. I am concerned now how to program it when i get it. If it will pair, the redundancy buttons are not working now.

Hey, my tablet on my Jayco Talon started going into a boot loop about 6 months ago. Have had it for going on 3 years now. Now it won't even start. I did find a good replacement tablet on Amazon that is basically identical, but it lowers with a USB C. So I'll have to convert the existing wire to that. Also, everything seems to work on the J command app but the remote connection doesn't seem to connect!. Any thoughts?
Correct, basically going aftermarket will lose cloud functionality. But, really everything else should work fine once you convert the charging port. You can set options in the settings for screen to stay on or double tap to wake to make it more OEM.

Yes, you have to register your Google account to get access to Play store, then download BMPRO app, then connect via Bluetooth. Took a little bit of time to setup, but once I got it all seemed to run fine. Just no cloud access with aftermarket.

I ended up sticking to the OEM tablet and replacing battery to fix mine, but if needed depending on which aftermarket tablet and connector type...just have to create a new USB-C style plug or lengthen existing micro USB plug. Worst case could get a 12V to 5V adapter and piggy-back off existing 12V feed nearby and make a custom plug.
I replaced the battery but not sure the solder job did a good job. It turns on but wanted to shut off again quickly. Big hands and tiny wires make it tough. Gonna try again as i do want to keep the OEM tablet. Thanks for the great videos on this subject.

I'd say if you can find a way to salvage OEM tablet that is ideal, otherwise the aftermarket option is a good second alternative. I've also seen some OEM units on eBay from a surplus store at $200ish, and I've heard the new BMPRO tablets in 2024 units have skipped the internal battery altogether and now use 12V coach power instead.

The battery reads 3.3volts. That's 0.4 volts low. Will that cause the problem with the tablet screen only displaying BMPRO?
Are you referring to a replacement battery? (internal battery) If so I'd stick to a 3.7V battery just to be safe.

I'm with you. I would opt to keep cloud access even if BMPro tablet is a few $100 more.
