I just started the unranked PvP with my first character, the Weaver and have played like 20 games total, but it is already getting more fun the more I play! This video gave some really good tips, so thank you!
@4:24 yes this is seriously true, i had a game that was 150 us and 340 enemy team, my team of course immediately starts the "gg we lost, crap team" after that the enemy team started losing fights, we started taking points and won the game 500 to 430... you can always turn it around and i just wish people would relax instead of giving up immediately
Gw2 has the best combat in any mmo I've played. I hope the new players enjoy it and that the vets don't get too impatient with newer players on their team. We need the new blood.
I hope yall do have patients because I'm about to start playing and it's gonna be a real shit show, lol! Kinda unsure how I'm gonna go about playing cause I'm literally 10 years behind everyone else at this point...
@@johnedwardpalencia2330 100%. The latest expansion for the game came out February of this year, and with that came about double the active players. Like I said, I just started, but everywhere that I've been has people throughout PvE, and PvP is definitely still poppin'! This game's community is so awesome too, so you'll find countless people that are willing to help you out and team with.
I think more people need to hear this, but... If you want to win more often than you lose, without being a 1v5 god, *ONLY* play in premades, the bigger - the better. With average luck, entering solo queue more often than not will mean that you have 2 AFK farmers sitting at spawn, 1 newbie who just pressed PvP for the first time, and one wild card player in your team, against a team made of one or two coordinated premades. Trust me, you *WANT* to be on the other side of this situation.
I'd also point point out about map mechanics... Many ppl still don't know that creatures on forest also gives a buff to everyone on the team, just as well as the artifacts on coliseum
I wanted to understand the progression. I still don't know the difference between shards of glory and their ascended versions. And how to get the latter. What to aim for? Ascended weapons, armor, trinkets? What's the best method for farming these? Any difference between ranked and unranked regarding the rewards? Which reward track to choose first? What about the map mechanics? I'm frequently lost and tilted when the trebuchet starts insta killing me
I miss Guild Wars 1, man... I miss TA and GvG while it was vibrant. What an experience I got to have in that whole mix. I'll never forget it. Gw2 PvP is alright. I hate that most of the game is spent at max level.
I just cant get my head around the number of deflects, blocks etc which are not visible or done in a way its frustrating ... like some elementalists running around or engies with some block stuff while I keep dying and I cant even land a hit xD ... Its frustrating and chaotic. :(
I just can't stop play it. Please send help. Best tip I can give is set combat mode on mouse click, so you can quickly switch to combat mode, dash away instead of focusing the nearest target, then re-enable normal cam.
Abandoning a clearly losing battle is something I just learned to do. It's even easier to do since my main a soulbeast, so it has lots of mobility, complementing it's bust.
Ty so much:) just what I was looking for, having 20K+ in 4story PvP. I have heard GW2 pvp system is addicting and amazing. Starting tomorrow with this guide, thx mannnn
it depends on your build really, you could get away with it on a flamethrower scrapper, longbow ranger, but preferably you should learn to use your mouse with free camera.
can u make a short tutorial for "quick turn" like what u did in this video sometimes, making a 180° turn while running straight ... i know its an option but when i set a key bind to it and use it my camera moves so weird that its even more distracting than benefitting - this was not the case in your situation, why? :o
There are some guides out there that explain it much better than I can in a comment, MightyTeapot combat mechanics video has it I recall? Otherwise the tldr is to hold your left mouse button while hitting about face key so the camera is fixed (holding left mouse allows you to move the camera). Then pressing right mouse will allow you to point your character back in the camera direction.
Sounds interesting... i returned to GW2 lately, on a bit of a pause from Elden Ring ( where i PVP extensively ), and would wnat to finally try PVP in this game. Thanks for the tips, will try it out... i never checked out PVP in GW2 but it seems fun. Just i am not sure how my character will fair in it ( Revanant ), i generally like to have condition damage build but i assume i will have to make another whole build for PVP ( and on first glance it does not seem like condition damage is usefull in PVP, unlike Elden Ring :P ... ). Will check your other videos for sure when i try it a bit and i get the feeling of what i need and what i want. XD
Hey Vallun. Great video as always. I was getting back to the game, and yesterday I noticed, on my Rev (power herald), that legend swapping wasn't proc'ing my sigils. The thing I will struggle with is the amount of different abilities. I feel overwhelmed at the idea of learning what each profession and socialisation does. A lot of the skills look the same to me so I can't even tell what circle on the floor belongs to who and what it does. Short of playing all professions extensively myself how will I learn how to identify and strategies against each foe?
Just time bro. Don't expect to get it fast. Just enjoy playing and learning something new each match. Over time you will start to recognize more and more stuff.

Great video Vallun, perfect timing with Steam release! I'm coming back to the game after a LONG hiatus, and I like to focus on a single character for everything. I love to play a roaming class for PvP and WvW, but also a class that can hold its own in 1v1/1vX and beat most classes with outplay potential. I'm leaning towards thief since it was my main in the past, but I know it's never truly been the best 1v1 class and can struggle 1vX. Obviously it has a lot of tools to outplay opponents, but curious on your thoughts about it and if you think I'll be underwhelmed with this kind of playstyle in mind. Thanks!
@@Vallun I would say the OG Roamer would be Ranger and soul beast is really fun just forcing a dodge out from 1200 is funny af also ranger is viable in all game modes and druid is really fun in Raids really chill vibe and lets be honest ranger is really easy to get into where thief is not an easy class yes its fun to one shot some one from stealth but a good ranger will always beat a good thief because ranger is a hard counter to thief and thief has always struggled with group play like wat is more valuable in a zerg a ranger or a thief if its the same guy playing both classes at the same level
@Vallun can you please make a guide on how to completely dominate in pvp and crush these noobs? ty. These "new player" guides are cute but i want something to stomp on my opponents.
one thing that bothers me is that visibility is absolutely disaster, so many flashes, lights numbers on the scree, game already have bad graphycs and it makes game even more unplayable
Only way to enjoy gw2 pvp as a new player is to build a timemachine and go back 10 years to get experience, old players are always begging new ones to play pvp just so they can obliterate them and easyfarm them. Dont play pvp as a new player simple as.
PvP matchmaking needs work, WvW will give you a better experience in fighting other players. You want to start on ascended asap, but you can still be competitive with exotics and ascended jewels. Follow around zergs. then roam in small groups. Before you know it you will be confident in running around solo.
Yeah starting as a new player doing pvp is awful.. I literally just instant die. I guess I just don't get how they expect new players to be able to do anything going up against people with ten year titles. Until that's fixed you're not going to see new players even bother.
MMO pvp is visually messy but this game takes the cake, it may be fantastic gameplay but what an ugly mess to look at. Couldn't get into it cause of it.
What is the pvp mm like? I have been a massive fan of wow but the community is the worst of any game and the mm is so bad.
