I disagree with not completing hearts... I would advice to complete 100% of each map as you go. After completing 100% of a map (quests, vistas, points of interested, hero points and waypoints) you will unlock rewards, including dyes and transmutable charges to customise your character's appearance. Moreover later on if you want to craft a first generation legendary weapon you will need the gift of exploration, which will be given to you when you complete 100% of all the maps. If would make it more smooth to complete maps every now and then and have that ingredient ready to go than to grind hard later on to get a legendary weapon. Exploration is one of the greatest features of gw2
I just started the game this week and I am loving doing the hearts - and just hitting events as I am running through. I love that the tasks to fill the hearts aren't just...go here, talk to this person, run back and talk to this other person - back and forth.
I would agree if hearts were account-wide, and maybe you can transfer those completion mats or something. But I agree with Teapot that I wouldn't go full tilt into obsessing over them. Not unless that's your jam or you know you'll be there for the long run in over a month. The implied hint is that it'd be too easy to burn out otherwise.
Fantastic tips. One that I pay special attention to : Fully dead, please take a waypoint. In many cases, taking a waypoint and raptoring back is faster than waiting for a rez. I am one of the guilty - if you're down, I'll revive you; if you're dead, I'll leave you laying there and fight over your corpse. Just WP away and jump back in.
While I already knew 99% of the information in this video, I still learned something new! (6:04) I never knew you could mouse over the Defiance Bar icon to get information on what happens to that boss if you break the bar.
The best tips for new players are talking to people and trying different things. Guys, do what you enjoy and find friends/guild who will do it with you. You don't necessarily have to make the most optimal gold farm, if you don't enjoy it, it can cause you to burn out and stop playing this amazing game because then it just becomes a grind. Unless you are grind enjoyer, then go and farm that juicy gold. Thanks Teapot another great video!
Thanks for the encouragement!! Just started playing the game with my friends and started out as an ele focused on squad healing cc and mobility and ive been having a tone of fun even tho i dont do much damage. I think the ammount of options i have as an ele can be better used if i focus on just a fee abilities, otherwise i get lost with the cooldowns 😵💫
Sadly I have 4 lvl 80's and coming back I have lost where I am, because I been gone for over 2+ years, and lets face it this game is NOT returning player friendly, yes people will help you but would you take me into Fractals never seen one?? When you take me on a raid knowing I never been there, or maybe farming legendary gear would you take me never knowing where to start? Yes it sounds like please hold my hand but isn't asking questions the very thing of holding hands to begin with.
@@jasons718 I came back to the game after 8 years. 1 year later and I'm clearing strikes, raids and T4 fractals. I even managed to clear some CMs. Find a training group for Strike/Raid on LFG or join a guild. There are so many guild doing training runs every week for complete beginners. Tier 1 fractals (0-25) are for complete beginners, that does not even require you to have ascended gear, go for that and learn there. If you don't have guild, LFG is your friend, just join a group and tell them you are new, they will either kick you or tell you what to do. I was also joining training groups at the beginning, and majority of the commanders were super friendly, because they expect you to suck at the game. Also, watch MightyTeapots zero to hero here on youtube, that will teach you a lot ;)
GW2 is a truly great experience. You can really play the game any way you want. Just walk around a zone and an event will *literally* fall into your lap and you can do it, then get an upgrade out of it. Totally organically. So much fun.
Regarding Renown Hearts: Don't completely ignore them. There are certain items in later parts of the game that you can only buy from Renown Heart-locked merchants. A lot of map events take place within the Renown Hearts area so if you see an event symbol next to a renown heart try to do the event - you'll get to complete the event and the renown heart progress bar at the same time.
and you'll need map completion for legendries later anyways! so may as well finish them! (also a completionist so I cant just leave things undone as I come across them haha)
Yea I like the hearts as I like story content, so been following them around. And finishing an area feels quite nice, the vista things not that interested in. I will do one if I can be bothered, but parkour and stuff is not my thing so they can get ignored lol.
I'm a new player to GW2 and at first I laughed at the read the skills part thinking "Why wouldn't you. . ?" Then I remembered all the other MMO's I've played, and yeah it's valid.
If you're working on putting together your first set of Exotic equipment and money's still tight, shop around and check the wiki for various ways to get gear with the prefix you want. Sometimes much sought after sets like Viper's and Celestial will have alternate sources that can be much cheaper than buying at the trading post or even crafting them yourself.
8:54 use the english wiki I play in english, though i'm german. The og wiki is just better, you can switch between languages by holding right strg on your keyboard, if you want to know what the strange thing in your german/ french or whatever inventory is called in english and the other way around. If npc's stop talking, you need to change the language in the launcher to download the voice files. All interface and menu stuff will be translated when holding right strg, including [linked] stuff in the chat.
I have to say that I have had the game/account for 6 years, but for some reason I never gave the game a chance, I only got deeper into the game a few days ago. I have to say that this is the best thing that I "discovered", I can't stop playing and there is so much. . . Definitely the best mmo so far. Old veteran of WoW even after GW2 I can't play those slow outdated games anymore
Great video! Specially appreciate mentioning staying close to your team. As a support player I hate it when I'm forced to chase my team members in order to keep them alive and boons running!
if you type /ip in chat you will get a large number, the last 3 digits are the ip of the map you are in. if in open world you dont see other people from your squad maybe you are in a diferent ip of the same map, right click the squad icon of a player in the correct ip and join them.
Only recently started playing!! Like…2 days ago recently. This video was absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much!! I’m so excited to have all these options and choices. It’s such a rich, beautiful game 💚
Great video! Started playing roughly two and a half weeks ago and just got my first character to lvl80. I took my time and just engaged in everything I saw while going through the different maps. Doing it that way was very enjoyable for me and a little confusing at the same time because in every other mmo I tried out or played a while I very much had the urge to rush and I can't really tell why... Maybe GW2 just hit different because being in the open world is way more fun than in other games. Well, it seems like all I did was only the beginning of my GW2 journey... there's so much to do and I haven't really figured out where to start. It's great. This is exactly what I want when it comes to mmo's. Had to get that out. I like this game!
Yea it's quite daunting as a new player, there is a lot going on. Some of it no idea what I'm doing or why, but I figure it will make sense at some point.
Just started myself! Felt the same way when playing other MMO’s. I think I just couldn’t get myself to care about the world. But in GW2 the action is so fun and the story actually gets me engaged.
The number 1 issue I saw with the influx of new player videos was the lack of reading the UI. These new players were ignoring the pop ups and level rewards then complained about the game. One guy didn't know you could weapon swap for a long time lol. READ THE USER INTERFACE and interact with things. That's how you learn new software... I always say, "developers put that on screen for a reason...". Always look at hover state and right click actions. I'm a web developer/designer.
very nice guide, i remember doing so well in gw1, making builds and all, and on the surface level i said this should be a breeze, but there are so many nuances in gw2. i was like its a frickin collage coarse. so i tell people study one thing at a time. it will make it so easy. a guide like this cuts through alot of the learning curve.. ind i can say, to this day i forget to change my armor and build to the environment, then im like due,, after Dyeing (sp?) thank you mighty teapot
the material storage thing was such a relief and probably kept me playing the game when i was about to quit because I reached level 80 and the exotic gear seemed like it would take too long to get but i could buy several sets with the gold i didnt know i had in the material storage
Here are my own 2 tips. Reading revisions! Skills in gw2 are a bit complicated if you are a new player. You don't have to remember the whole skill just what does in general but you should go back and read again at different times of your journey and reevaluate the information. You will often find skills that you previously thought useless to be much Much better, and skills that initially sounded good to be useless. Others may have components that you missed or forgot or new syngergies that you didnt know/understand before like combo fields or only doing condition damage when you have a power build. The other important information is atttributes or stats. They are important in almost everything, from foods to gear to skills and traits. Understanding what each attribute is and does is actually really simple but infinitly important. Trust me on this one.
honestly, both of these tips could be applied to anny mmo.. people are really bad about not actually reading skill tooltips in pretty much any mmo imo. and if you dont understand basic attributes.... then its pretty much garanteed youre going to suck ass..
My best advice for newer players who are struggling with the game is that success in this game when it comes to combat is reliant on your knowledge of enemy abilities and attack animations. You could have a perfect build and set of gear, but if you don’t know what enemy attacks do, or when to dodge, or when they need to be interrupted, you may just be killed and not know why. There are tons of enemies in this game and a lot of them are challenging until you know how to fight them, so the best advice I can give is just don’t be afraid to die and keep trying. Learn the enemies, and you will start to succeed.
If you don't care about the specifics and want to learn general roles (boon dps, healers, pure DPS), it might help to ask around for easier high end builds. For example, Power Soulbeast (a ranger elite specialization) is considered to be quite easy to learn, and Druid (another ranger espec) is considered to be both good and pretty easy to learn (although in raids you become the toolbelt/mechanic monkey player).
do you know of any easy to learn Engineer builds? I picked Engineer cause it looked really cool with all the gadgets and stuff, and then found out that it's got a huge amount of different things it can do and it's kinda overwhelming
Great video! The tip regarding why your gold count doesnt go up much despite farming is so good. Even though I've played for a decent amount of time and I know you get gold via mats/etc... I still get caught off guard with not seeing my gold count go up from time to time.
I quite recently(179 days ago according to /age) started to play, while I intentionally try to limit myself to roughly doing things in order(in terms of expansions) I've yet to get bored of anything. Sure the personal story for the third time is a bit of a drag, but just doing something else for a bit and not actually feeling like I'm losing "progress" is great. To my mind the sheer amount of ways to progress is the best thing about gw2.
Ye i am a newb so im not sure why but in the pvp area abilities had a lot more cd than when i play the same build in pve. Maybe it has to do with some buff or something.
Man these are good tips! I quit gw long ago because i didnt get to enjoy pve, since i approached it with a "completionist" mindset, but after watching this i realize i was killing all the fun
As someone, after many years, just now getting back into WoW, I was looking for something new to try and was torn between GW2 and FF14. This video has convinced me to start with GW2. Ty!
You can actually level up just by crafting as well. The best thing that anyone can do is, start crafting. Teaches you what goes together and how it goes together. Plus, if you don't like the gear you crafted, salvage it for materials and make something different. I think this is severely overlooked in game. People tend to buy gear, armor, weapons from the trading post, when in fact, they should be crafting it. Believe it or not, GW2efficiency helps with this as well. Relying on the RNG gods to give you an ascended piece from a drop is futile, since it's not a 100% guarantee you'll get such a drop each time. I do complete the hearts for each map for the reason, you won't get map completion without those hearts being done. Hence 100% map completion won't happen. Getting into a good helpful guild is also a big plus. Hardstuck is a good one, right Teapot?! :P Best tip of all, never let the game "overwhelm" you and it will at times. Take a break, ask questions, learn and just enjoy the game. Cheers :)
Buddy up with a guardian and keep beside them. Thatd the best advice I have. At low levels you will get knocked out of fights very quickly without them. Seek them out. Learn what they look like. They are your safety against boons.
Shift click an item/poi/way point to chat bar for easy sharing is also helpful like if you wanted to know what an item does it used for that you just received, type /wiki then shift click that item
I'm not sure theres ever been an individual player who's ever done more for an MMO than you have for GW2 Teapot. Your videos helped get me back into the game (was a typical "played it pre expansion, enjoyed it but lack of endgame = quit" player) and I enjoying it so much. Even got some of my WoW raider buddies to come along, and things are clicking so much for us. Your site helped us understand the psuedo trinity of GW2 with offensive / heal supports so we have everything covered as a group...I think. Im on a P Quick Herald, also gonna put together a heal set. We've got a H Alac Druid, Spellbreaker DPS, Weaver DPS and Reaper DPS. I'm sure it's far from perfect, but we have the basics covered thanks to your content so thank you (and the community as a whole)!
Best tips ever. Been playing since Steam release and consider my self newbie still. A lot can be learned from these videos and community in general. Awesome job you guys are doing. Massive thank you.
Hi I know im late to this but I thought I'd add a tip for new players that is a god send when learning. when you get into game on first character, go into settings and hotkeys, find "Action camera toggle" and find a suitable bind (i use left alt next to spacebar but you do you). Ok so GW2 uses two styles for combat that you can change between freely, standard feels much more like a standard MMO with tab targeting while action camera turns your character with your mouse and sets your main action bar ability onto your mouse clicker too. Its arguably a lot smoother and easier to learn the game in action camera and learn to switch based on whats easier, I wish I had known about this option in the settings at the start as its really really handy
I bought the game 2 years and I didn't really play, now I tried again and it's been nice so far. I was kind of bored farming mobs only at some point and finished "heart quests" in a zone that's my level and got lazy to search an other zone that's around my level. I love the heart quests tbh. But the only thing that is a bit hard to master for me, is the navigation between zones (especially following the wiki). Even if you discover a zone you won't see immediately all the name of the subzones. Also it's kind of hard to know the outlines of a specific zone. Beside that, I love everything in the game so far. So now that I know about level scaling, I'm gonna finish all the heart quests in every zone.
What keeps me to this game now is the engagement! I loved FFXIV still do for the story but for me gw2 has the fluid combat and environments look better and I just can't stand wow I played it and just feels empty compared to gw2
@markswaim-tf2gl yes but s9metimes even by using that it's not very obvious in some zone. Or maybe I just need to learn how to interpret better all those arrows and stuff in the add-on
@recur9245 I feel you. For me, I had my share of mmos, but it was with my friends. Now that everyone have their jobs, I'm the only one who kept playing time consuming games. (Even with my job) But in recent years, I'm more into arpgs like poe diablo and last epoch and lost ark at some point. But it doesn't stop me from trying games like this one.
The MOST IMPORTANT, recently added, and may require the latest expansion (not sure), is the Wizard's Vault. Currently, you can spend only 1800 points to get an Ascended Weapon + 3 pieces of Ascended Armor. SUPEREASY to get some of the best equipments in the game. Btw, though this is a great video, I don't agree with everything here. For example, I recommend to do the story lines as quickly as possible, since they unlock quite a lot of goodies or even essentials. And if you like the game, get all the expansions and Living Worlds asap.
Thankyou for this, I've recently returned to GW2 after a 10yr absence (played in the beta and got a ranger to lvl 80). On returning I have been completely lost, this video has helped me start to get beck into the swing of things.
it took me 2 days to find a group for one of the older LW chapters. not 2 days of contant spamming, but i would log in many times and try my luck. and when we finally got in, it was one of the worst gaming experiences of my life. no thanks.
Thanks for the video, Teapot, I learned a few things and reaffirmed quite a bit I thought I knew already! I've only been playing about 2 or 3 months now, but it's been a blast so far... got my Necro to 80, and almost finished 2 specializations but I've been debating branching out to another profession or buying the latest expansion for new specs for a bit more variety! Decision paralysis got me bad xD Anyway, have a great day, and thanks for what you do! 💚
I'm a returning player(played at launch then left till a couple months ago) and this video was very helpful! Two things I still can't wrap my head around tho are 1. the absurd amount of items you get from login, quests, events and so on(a lot of those present stuff to choose from and I store them in the bank because I don't know which to pick atm and the bank is now full) 2. dungeons I'm levelling a toon from start despite having the insta 80 tomes, and I'm almost level 70, and while leveling I got the dungeons invitations in the mail as I was progressing but they say something confusing like that you first have to do them "In story mode"(how?) and then you can just do them again. I thought "in story mode" meant I could do them alone but even the first one, which was the Ascalonian Catacombs if I'm not mistaken, was too hard. Any suggestion about these two things?
Im still pretty new to the game (like a month and a half), i never knew you can test skill freely in the arena which is pretty neat, still looking for good rotation for my weaver and exotic build set. I have tried Fractal and its pretty nice even for LFG. I done the dungeon mostly three man with my friend but soonish maybe do an lfg.
One of the things i find great about and sometimes but rarely enrages me is the fact that after years of playing you will still be able to find things you can do even in content you allready played through lots of time. The Treasure Hunter achievement being the one achievement that sometimes enrages me because the drop chance of most and particularly the most expensive items is very low... hence the value of such items like that one amulett or sam or rhendaks signet ring. That is why i do from time to time rewatch and search for tips and tricks or "new player" content as such we have here... because let's face it peepawz... you just need to go through all the crafting recipes to know you're in for a fun "learning" experience... not to mention all the mostly unknown mystic forge recipes... like the bulk of armor recipes many ... even vet players don't know about
Great Video, im new as a lot of players i think, so this content is great for me, just lvl 80 doing living world S1 and trying the first fractals and that, the game is great
Amazing video! This is, in fact, one of the best MMORPGs out there, specially to those who don't really have much time to play games anymore. I moved to GW2 because I was tired of playing ESO and with every patch I had to grind new gear to stay "up to date". GW2 does not have this pressure fortunately.
One thing that I've noticed was that the masteries needed to boost up your mount skills have been maxed out. I know for sure the last time I stopped playing I didn't unlock all of them. But once End of Dragons came out, suddenly I have all the abilities for all mounts and expansions.
I agree with everything here except for the heart thing. Certain items can ONLY be purchased with an unlocked renown heart to include some BASIC level Chef materials.
Cant have everything dished out for free gotta earn because I guarantee if there's nothing to earn people will complain it's boring because they don't have a sense of achievement xD
Don't ignore the hearts. 100%ing a zone gives you some valuable items. Sure, cosmetic, but transfiguration charges and getting 10 statuettes for a complete makeover ticket might be worth getting. And if you have any expansions, you can alt farm the starting city as soon as you load in. No hearts, just run around and collect all the points of interest and fast travel points.
GW2 is a great game that I recommend to everyone, I just really wish we were given graphical options to turn off particle and aura effects on other players.
Awesome video! I have been playing for TEN YEARS and I'm still so clueless. I've opened all the maps and finished all the main expansions (except HoT because I just couldn't get into it until I had mounts). I really have a good time still, even though I'm not a badass. I do feel dumb though because I still know NOTHING about builds, I only play one character, and I don't know lingo. So when I ask for help or look up help in the sub-reddit, I can't even understand the advice or instructions. I got the big GW book but it came out before any expansion. It probably has a lot about builds and optimizing etc. Anyway, thank you for this video. I will be checking out more of your channel.
As a new player, i went all in on the game for a couple weeks just to find myself burned out. I took a few days break and realized it's just not the kind of game where sprinting and be like gogogo does you any good. At least for me. Now im taking it easy and enjoying it again maybe more than before.
Thanks for such an informative video, I just started less than a month ago with a few friends and we are having a real blast doing pretty much everything we can.
Most bosses scale up according to the amoint of players. Dead players also count. Using way point when you're dead is essential to keeping the boss scaled down when you die.
Been wanting to get into guild wars 2. I do like games when leveling means something, though. The idea where if you go where you're not supposed to be too early, you get squashed by terrifying demon creatures
I like it because let's be honest the game really starts at lvl 80 and there's plenty of time to see the world even when you're at lvl 80 I like the process of finishing certain areas and then when you reach lvl 80 enemies sorta scale on all the map so you can do low lvl which is relevant still
I have a 10 year old account but I have been playing on and off until like 2 years ago and decided to make the commintment to this game. I still play others obviously but this is my main game. And I can say without a shadow of a doubt that trying new things is the best tip you can do in Gw2. And especially when you try it you really try it not like a few hours and done you gotta do enough that you actually understand it. I make alot of leggies so I tthought that getting the gift of battle was a hassle and a waste of time but I ended up really liking WvW. I don't main it but I like playing it when I have to for something. Or better yet I just sometimes just go onto it just to get dailies and a few pips just to have them. Point is that when you try something it is gonna be a bit uncomfortable but that's ok and natural just don't let it affect the rest of your experience and always try new things.
I'm new to the game and it's honestly faster to ask "please res" cause I don't have a mount and world bosses are always dead before I can reach them from the waypoint. Had a temporary mount, but I've already lost it. As far as making money, at level 30 something I've already vendored my gear. I need a trading post guide cause I find it confusing to navigate. I know I've been struggling to stick to the game cause people aren't really helpful, at least in my experience everyone just bullshits around in the chat. Only help I've gotten was one person helping me understand how to improve the performance from my PC and I'm thankful for that, but most of the time I'm ignored. Granted I don't talk much when I'm just trying to experience the msq (main story quests) and I was doing the heart rep quests cause they give good XP and it's the only thing I know to do to level up for the next main story. I'm used to FFXIV where there's a main story quest every single level, so admittedly I'm very lost in GW2 and I just do whatever I can find to level up. So far the biggest struggle is that I need a permanent mount and idk how to get one and idk how the trading post works because the UI for it is a confusing mess
Been playing Wow on and off over the course of it's lifespan. It's been fun but there are a lot of small annoyances that have piled up so much it's become a chore now. I played GW1 back in the day but never check out the sequel. It sounds way less restrictive than Wow. Gonna check it out today!
The most important tip not here: if you can see a red line on the ground around you (a circle, a rectangle or whatever other shape) - move the heck out of it! Or roll out (dodge), if you don't have time to walk.
My main problem with leaving gw2 about 4 times already it's because I have no idea what to do next. I cleared world content avaliable, cleared the story, and then I have no idea how to start doing dungeons or raids. People in chat usually answer memes and don't help much, probably thinking I'm trolling or something, while I'm just clearly confused about what I should do to progress in pve. At least pvp is understandable, you just go and fight...
If you're interested in doing fractals then this guide should help: docs.google.com/document/d/16bt-vFeeLAeEsaoz72bkc4ZODsudIQ2hiQdvSnFYLtw/edit It's quite outdated so build information won't be quite up to date, but anything about fractals themselves should still be good. Dungeons, raids and strikes are a bit trickier to learn since they're a lot more free-form, so it'd probably be best to just do some research on what you can get from each dungeon/raid/strike and maybe join an endgame community/guild that focuses on running that sort of content. Best advice I can give you though would be to just keep doing _something_ each time you log in. _Everything_ in GW2 will progress your account in some way, whether it be endgame content, open world PvE, PvP, WvW, crafting, fishing, or even achievements. You have numerous ways to earn exotic and ascended gear, and there's a few different ways to get legendary gear (at least armour and weapons) that you can really just do whatever.
Unfortunately, he missed the value of equipment in WvW, it is highly recommended you get ascended gear for infusions and other benefits. Otherwise, great video
This video is very handy as a person who just bought some DLC the other day. But there is one question Im hoping can be answered. If I was to use the level 80 skip token, can I still go through the personal story from step 1? Will I get skipped ahead in it?
My biggest mistake, i think, is not remapping my buttons. I never looked at suggested templates so ive been clicking on the class abilities the entire time. I went through two playthroughs, a sylvari guardian playing the long way from 1-80 and then Filiman Tarlock for Path Of Fire. Ive since remapped and its hard to develop new reflexes and muscle memory when you spent like 30+ hours in default controls. Thats like swapping from controller to mouse and keyboard in an online fps game
Just found your Channel, great work! How Long do you think the Servers will Continue Running as we just experienced a new Addon this year and a huge amount of new players coming to the Game? ❤
Yea following the hearts, and the story and exploration is my thing so I'm happy doing them.
I been playing since beta, but I still watch these "new player tips" videos, just in case I missed something. Sometimes I learn a thing or two!
Same brotha
Aye I do the same thinking of jumping back into it.
same
Ture master aways keep a beginner heart.
Same
Fantastic tips.
Fair enough good to know, I will be aware of that.
This game is good ?
Wise words! I almost wish I didn't instant 80v
The feeling of loading into a map and seeing you've completed everything is just 👌
came here to say that. These vids are very surface level. Hearts you can ignore I guess, but you are locking yourself out of endgame rewards
@@jeremy322345 hearts really dont matter at endgame unless you want a specific thing you can avoid doing any of them and still be perfectly fine
Sometimes much sought after sets like Viper's and Celestial will have alternate sources that can be much cheaper than buying at the trading post or even crafting them yourself.
verdant brink my beloved
Like iron legion pistols. They are stat selectable and only cost 6g compared to the 11g of vipers or whatever 20g celestial costs
8:54 use the english wiki
I play in english, though i'm german.
The efficiency page and that PvP lobby trick were definitely the most important pieces of information for me. Thanks a lot for the tips dude!
Honestly, if someone doesn't know about such basics, there's no point in continuing to play because it's definitely not a product for them
very nice guide, i remember doing so well in gw1, making builds and all, and on the surface level i said this should be a breeze, but there are so many nuances in gw2. i was like its a frickin collage coarse. so i tell people study one thing at a time. it will make it so easy. a guide like this cuts through alot of the learning curve.. ind i can say, to this day i forget to change my armor and build to the environment, then im like due,, after Dyeing (sp?) thank you mighty teapot
the material storage thing was such a relief and probably kept me playing the game when i was about to quit because I reached level 80 and the exotic gear seemed like it would take too long to get but i could buy several sets with the gold i didnt know i had in the material storage
"yeah, i'm gonna watch the whole video."
-me (even though i've played since gw2 launched 2012)
I quite recently(179 days ago according to /age) started to play, while I intentionally try to limit myself to roughly doing things in order(in terms of expansions) I've yet to get bored of anything. Sure the personal story for the third time is a bit of a drag, but just doing something else for a bit and not actually feeling like I'm losing "progress" is great. To my mind the sheer amount of ways to progress is the best thing about gw2.
Back after a few years, logged in and was instantly lost, this vid helped alot, thanks dude!
Very nice!
A minor thing, but if you try builds in PvP area, it may be different than doing it in PvE, because skill splits.
Ye i am a newb so im not sure why but in the pvp area abilities had a lot more cd than when i play the same build in pve. Maybe it has to do with some buff or something.
okay. yap. been giving the game a go since yesterday. this a straight treasuretrove of useful info, packed into a well edited visual aid. thank you!
Best tip of all, never let the game "overwhelm" you and it will at times.
Thank you so much, I’m brand new to the game, and it’s been really difficult learning everything all at the same time.
I just came back after 13 years and as such I´m a complete newbie again. This video helped me out a ton, so TYSM for that!
Its arguably a lot smoother and easier to learn the game in action camera and learn to switch based on whats easier, I wish I had known about this option in the settings at the start as its really really handy
gw2 efficiency was a great tip I love this website ! I found so many items I had no clue that they had value and made alot of gold !
There’s an add on that overlays arrows that you follow in game to fully explore every zone.
What keeps me to this game now is the engagement!
I loved FFXIV still do for the story but for me gw2 has the fluid combat and environments look better and I just can't stand wow I played it and just feels empty compared to gw2
We all get bored/burnt out of games sometimes so we ultimately always swap and change xD
(Even with my job)
But in recent years, I'm more into arpgs like poe diablo and last epoch and lost ark at some point.
Started playing this a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loving it so far
If the Wiki can't help your problem, other players almost certainly can. Good tips!
it took me 2 days to find a group for one of the older LW chapters. not 2 days of contant spamming, but i would log in many times and try my luck.
and when we finally got in, it was one of the worst gaming experiences of my life.
Decision paralysis got me bad xD
Anyway, have a great day, and thanks for what you do! 💚
I'm a returning player(played at launch then left till a couple months ago) and this video was very helpful! Two things I still can't wrap my head around tho are 1. the absurd amount of items you get from login, quests, events and so on(a lot of those present stuff to choose from and I store them in the bank because I don't know which to pick atm and the bank is now full) 2. dungeons
I'm levelling a toon from start despite having the insta 80 tomes, and I'm almost level 70, and while leveling I got the dungeons invitations in the mail as I was progressing but they say something confusing like that you first have to do them "In story mode"(how?) and then you can just do them again. I thought "in story mode" meant I could do them alone but even the first one, which was the Ascalonian Catacombs if I'm not mistaken, was too hard.
Any suggestion about these two things?
Really, really great video. Your attitude throughout was encouraging and entertaining. Thanks!
Great tips m8. Been playing a few days and tons of great info here. The blue bar thing especially.
Can't thank you enough. That's one of the best guides - or however you wanna call it - vid of any game i've ever seen. Great job and respect
Just started GW2 and this has been incredibly helpful to say the least
I dunno if I'd tell people to ignore renown hearts. 100% zone completion rewards are a big deal.
Time effectively, not so much.
This. This was the only iffy advice Teapot gave, but the rest was great.
That isn't what I said though, I said you DON'T HAVE TO DO HEARTS, not that you SHOULD NOT. Those two statements are not the same.
@@MightyTeapotTeapot you don't understand. They misunderstood stood you, therefore, you are wrong.
crab toss is the best gamemode for EVERYONE
12:00 - F2P Players can not use specializations from expansions in PVP only core class traits, keep that in mind
Rightly so if you like the game like buy expansion
Im still pretty new to the game (like a month and a half), i never knew you can test skill freely in the arena which is pretty neat, still looking for good rotation for my weaver and exotic build set.
I have tried Fractal and its pretty nice even for LFG.
I done the dungeon mostly three man with my friend but soonish maybe do an lfg.
Some of your currencies for maps will end up in your material storage, this especially for living story maps.
As a returning player this was really well done, thank you!
Many thanks mate, this video helped a lot.
Thank you, coming from WoW retail this is so different in a refreshing way.
You just sold the game for me! I'm going to try and play as soon as I can. Thanks!
Coming back after a 9 years of hiatus, thank you for the tutorial.
Thanks for the tips, I only have 1400 hours and I needed these so bad. Keep em coming!
Damn bro that’s a lot of hours ! Hope you still enjoy it !
@@Temoorman34 love it more everyday! Playing it casually make me taste everything of it without burning out ;)
Great video! One of, if not THE, most useful new player tips video i've seen of GW2! 👏
I have been playing for years on and off. But my urge to do all the content in order probably killed a lot of fun :-))
Thanks for such an informative video, I just started less than a month ago with a few friends and we are having a real blast doing pretty much everything we can.
Thank you, quick and easy to understand !
My adventure begins!
I like it because let's be honest the game really starts at lvl 80 and there's plenty of time to see the world even when you're at lvl 80 I like the process of finishing certain areas and then when you reach lvl 80 enemies sorta scale on all the map so you can do low lvl which is relevant still
I just started and I'm loving every minute of it
Renown hearts are event hubs. They mark the area where most open world events start.
Never played this game before and really considering it! Never played MMOs in general actually lol, but hey we all start somewhere.
Crab Toss is the real final boss end game content of Guild Wars 2
If you are new and playing open world/story, get some stability and stun break
amen to that... and look for might and fury boons, they are the most easily accessible and impactful boons early on.
I've just started playing. Game seems awesome. Love the open world questing.
Or roll out (dodge), if you don't have time to walk.
thank you soo much for this video. It really sums up most of the questions I had
I am missing about the Tip of crafting. It helps you a lot even as a new player.
Thanks for these tips, they’re greatly appreciated!
Great video, Thank you! I am going to give it a go on this game it looks great!
Unfortunately, he missed the value of equipment in WvW, it is highly recommended you get ascended gear for infusions and other benefits. Otherwise, great video
Great tips!
This video is very handy as a person who just bought some DLC the other day. But there is one question Im hoping can be answered. If I was to use the level 80 skip token, can I still go through the personal story from step 1? Will I get skipped ahead in it?
You won’t skip anything you’ll be perfectly able to pick up just where you left off!
@@MightyTeapot great! Thank you!
wasnt the usual general tips I hear. Take my like and subscribe.

I've been playing since beta and these are fabulous tips.
