@@ItsCooltoPlayBass thank you so much for watching and leaving a kind comment! I hope you choose an e-reader that you are happy with. 😁 they’re awesome! Happy reading. 📚
Thanks for putting timestamps! I'd love to watch your whole video but just don't have time! You've made me even MORE excited about getting my Kobo today - I didn't think it was possible!
I bought a Kindle Oasis in 2020 and I really love it, especially with the buttons to change page. But when I see what Kobo is offering, Kobo is so far ahead - colour, flexibility of where you can get books from, writing inside the book and having notebooks, water resistance, the list goes on. Now having seen the latest kindle releases, I'm also not confident in having something at this level from Kindle anytime soon. Your video really convinced me to make the switch 😊
Audiobooks are unavailable on the Canadian Kindles because they have crippled the Bluetooth on Canadian Kindles. I love the page advance buttons. When I set up the top button to turn the page forward, it falls perfectly into my hand. Kobo offer a case with a front cover to protect the screen when closed. This case has the word “notebook” in the description. Your channel gets five extra bonus points because your dog is a part of the channel. I love the squeak toy noises, and you will NEVER have to apologize for them. Thanks for a very complete and informative video.
Love this, a review from someone that use it for it's intended purpose and use it a lot from what i can tell. Appreciate it! I will keep my eyes peeled in the upcoming black Friday.
I switched from kindle to kobo LC about 2 weeks ago now. I love it. I wish i knew about kobo before i went with amazon... The buttons are a massive plus for me 😊... i find the screen alot smoother too.. only thing i havent done yet is take notes etc
Thanks for making such an in-depth review. I can't remember if you already mentioned this, but do you find yourself having to zoom in a lot to read the text when reading manga?
Ugh, I'm so sorry. Concussions are so tough and aren't usually easy to recover from. I am sending hugs and hope you find e-reading to be comfy in your recovery
Not all libraries will let you pause holds. Mine only lets you “suspend” and it’s a limit of days. That’s probably why it’s not a feature. People forget Libby/overdrive things are library specific.
Love the in depth video it was very informative even though i already have a kobo libra colour. Sadly, you can't read magazines from Libby on a Kobo Libra Color because Kobo devices don't support magazines from Libby. I also was shocked to find out you can't listen to audiobooks from libby either.
Hi! Good review 💓🙏🏻 Why did you choose the white one?? Pure the taste? Don't you think with a black one it is nicer to read?? I asked myself🤔 Already thanks for your effort 😊 Regards, Alexandra
This video was great! I'm looking at getting a Kobo to use alongside my Paperwhite. I can't see myself giving up Kindle Unlimited because of the amount of indie authors I support there, but love the libby integration on the Kobo devices. It'll be nice to send my epubs to Kobo to annotate. I add notes to them in Kindle right now, but it's a very different setup.
Love the detailed review ❤. I am hoping to order a Kobo Libra Colour and you have definitely helped 😊. This will be my first e-reader. I read on my iPad mini but I get very bad migraines and that is why I have been looking into getting a Kobo. I don’t like the closed system of the kindle so this is great! Thank you
@@ayostillreads that’s fantastic! I’m so happy to help. I hope the Kobo Libra Colour works well for you and relieves the reading migraines for you!! Happy reading. 🙂
I'm buying a kobo because accessibility for low vision and blind community is better on kobo and kindle is nonexistent for UI scaling. But im debating on a white or black kobo libra colour
@@fatema8819 that makes total sense! I didn’t realize that about Kindle. I mean honestly, you don’t need colour for much on an ereader unless you read a lot of comics. It’s fun to have but certainly not a necessity.
Great little video, btw you have the most amazing eyes, but anyway been waiting for my Kobo for delivery for the last two weeks, does it normally take that long ?
@@stuartgifford8672 thank you! And that does seem like a long time. I believe mine shipped within a couple days. I’d keep an eye on it.. if it doesn’t ship soon, maybe try another seller! Thinking about switching from Kindle to Kobo because I love the Libra Color... and VERY disappointed with the Kindle options that just came out. I have the Kindle Oasis, I borrow library books but once the book goes back, so do the notes! So I export my highlights/notes in an email to myself before I return the book. I have not seen if there is any way to do this with Kobo- have you found anything to share notes?
@@dianabarrick5356 I did test this! In my experience so far, any notes or annotating I do on a library book is still there after I return it. So if I borrow it again, the notes will still be on the book as I left them. Hopefully this answers your question.
@@alibrarybythesea it’s really neat! I just downloaded the tracker template on Etsy and then plugged my kobo into my computer. You basically just drag and drop the template onto your kobo file on your computer! Super easy. The artists also supply import instructions when you purchase.
Heyy! I’ve been meaning to buy this ereader and I also read a lot from the library, so I was wondering for borrowed overdrive books if the highlights/annotations get saved anywhere? Because sometimes I borrow books, don’t read them in time, they get returned and if I borrow them again, it would be lovely to have my annotations/highlights from my 1st hold in there. Hopefully I explained it well 😅 Thank you so much for your in depth review!
Thanks for watching! Actually, yes! It's super awesome because the annotations and highlights get saved where you left them on the library book. SO if you annotate in an Overdrive library ebook, and then return it and borrow it again, all your annotations will still be there, right where you left them :) The Kobo is so friendly for library e-reading which I love because I also borrow heavily from the library!
So sorry I totally meant to do that when I first posted the video! I just updated the description of this video to include the reading tracker template on Etsy. Thanks for watching!
* Just a lovely presentation! Appreciated your consideration of possibly getting a Kindle to fill in some gaps. A basic used and very functional Kindle can be had for about $50 or less. I find that many of the books I’m looking for aren’t in the Kobo ecosystem. Just curious, why don’t you read Yhe New Yorker? Thank you for such a fun and informative video - you could be a Star! 🥸
Thank you for watching! I appreciate the kind comment. And yes, considering you can get a basic Kindle for cheap, it isn’t a bad idea to have it so you can have access to a bigger catalogue. And I have nothing against the New Yorker, I downloaded it to test magazines on my phone Libby app and just never read any issues.
