I think about this any time I build or install anything. If I can figure out a way to keep it from feeling corny, I like to leave a little Easter egg for the next guy.
I admire your patience and dedication, but also your editing skills and humour. And thank you for the comments about the kinds of wires and their purpose--useful in everyday life :)
Admittedly, I don't know much about art, but to me this is a masterpiece. Watching history being brought back to life with a hidden modern upgrade - just wow. Thank you for sharing.

It will be a non ferrous metal. The lamp is an Explosion Proof Lamp. Designed to use in areas were flammable vapours or explosives are stored. The seal stops fumes, the thick glass and grill means if the bulb bursts no hot fillament is exposed. And non ferrous , no sparks if its hit by something.
You're about the only restoration channel that also manages to get a laugh outta me while you're at it, keep up the amazing work! Much love from the UK!
Elecrtician's nightmare using that kind of knife to strip the cable, also seen a incarving on the neutral wire (Electrician myself), the restoration result was exelent tho

You have a Wiz smartbulb too! That made me so happy! I love those things so much! I have ones that not only adjust the kelvins in the whites, but can also change to any color I want. Feit Electric has smartbulbs as well, but they can't make funky patterns. They're just easier to control when it comes to manipulating the color saturation. Lovely video!

Exactly! The green/yellow wire is used for ground. There are strictly regulations for that. In Romania ( Europe ) we use red for positive, blue for negative and green/yellow for ground. The bulb socket doesn't look too old. You are doing such a great job.

Personally would have kept the "pitted" shell and gave it a coat of gunmetal paint or maybe even "parkerizing", as it would have added character. But i cant deny that the shiny smooth "as new" version also looks fancy.
Same, once its refinished like that, it looks like it could have just been a reproduction. But, ya know, not my lamp so I cant get too bent over it hah
I'm by no means an expert so anyone feel free to correct me, but wouldn't leaving it pitted jeopardize the integrity of the metal? as in, leaving it more prone to becoming brittle?

So much this, I can understand removing the rust off the important bits. But the pitting was character that's just lost now. Kinda disappointed.
