    I am hanging boards on my inside walls of my house. Pine 1x8s by 3.2 meters. I plane them on one side and then put them up. I let them dry on the wall and then after a few months I put up battens. Green wood is common and readily available here in Chile and for me was my best option. I wish I could use oak or Pelliene as it is called here. But it is really expensive.

      Howdy y’all- yes, it’s all yellow pine except for the posts. We have an abundance of yellow pine in our area. I haven’t thought about selling plans but I may have to draw something up. I just built the shed out of my head. After being a carpenter for so many years I have a tendency to do that. If you want some more information just email me at thebeardedcarpenter8@gmail.com God bless

    Hmm. Custoom build. What kind of wood is that? Is it cedar? Cedar smells so nice. Years ago my dad lined a closet with cedar plywood. It still smells awesome. 👍

      Howdy y’all- the only cedar that I used was for the posts. Everything else is southern yellow pine. I certainly agree with you about the wonderful smell of cedar. I appreciate you watching the video. God bless you

      Howdy Bart- thank you so much. I sure appreciate you watching the videos. I’ll probably spray boiled linseed oil on the boards to protect them. That usually changes the color a little bit. I use linseed oil quite often. Take care and God bless

    man this guy is so cool. I love watching this channel. shed looks great. wish I could build like that.... but what's a water table?

    • @TheBeardedCarpenter
      @TheBeardedCarpenter  Рік тому +2

      Howdy Harley- thank you so much for watching our videos. A water table is a piece of wood cut on an angle so that it tilts down on the outside edge and lets water run off. I cut the bottom edge of the boards that go above it on the same angle. I have always used 12 degrees for water tables and window sills which is the old way my Daddy taught me. Hope this helps. God bless you

    Happy to say, I did my first barndoors just last summer as you (single lady, 46y.o) But is there any reason, why your hinges are so short ? I used 220cm x 90cm wide door, 45 cm long hinge.

    • @TheBeardedCarpenter
      @TheBeardedCarpenter  8 місяців тому +1

      Howdy Ma’am- I admire you for doing things on your own. The doors I built are strong enough at the hinges to use the ones I used. The hinges are what I could find at the local hardware store. Longer strap hinges would definitely look nice. Wishing you the very best. God bless
