    Very cool! Just got my sub, for sure. Bought 20 acres in Montana last summer, as soon as I’m not snowed in I’ll be heading down the mountain to pick up a sawmill & will be building a covering. $250 is a nice cost! Also, loved the community involved...neighbors, friends, and the next generation paying attention. Modeling hard work and accepting help and building something with your own hands is one of the greatest gifts you could give your son. Much respect. 🤟🏼

    I want to build a woodmill shed as well but living in upstate NY we get a huge snow load and can have up to 3' of packed snow on the roof, so I will have to notch my rafters and have them sit on top of the beams. My concern is with that snow load I will need a center support pillar in the middle of the mill under each beam. Not necessary for the summer, so I am thinking of just pouring a 12" pier level with the ground of concrete and then using that as the base to put in a pillar just for the winter for the added support. other than that, I like design. I will probably go with a ridge beam so that I don't need to go with long rafters. Can you tell me what the dimensions are that you used ie. LxWxH

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  2 роки тому +1

      I believe that was 13’ between posts and 25’. 13’ tall on the high side and 11’ on the low. The roof was 13’6” by 32’.

  • @ДомПилорамаГолубикаЗвенигород

    Looks amazing! Dry and heated! How do you keep your lumber? Do you have a shed for your made lumber? Where you can air-dry it wirhout tarpening it over? I am in doubt cause my wood is now better be kept in logs than in lumber...

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  Рік тому +1

      It depends on what you’re milling and for what purpose. Hardwood for furniture definitely has to dry. Framing lumber should also dry but it’s a much shorter period than furniture lumber. I built my sawmill shed out of green lumber. I’ve noticed a little shrinkage but the structure is as sturdy as the day I built it.

    Great work 👍👍 Are you going to close in the other walls ?? As I would have thought that driving rain or snow would still get the mill ???

      @NorthwestSawyer  3 роки тому +1

      That’s still a possibility but it’ll be much better that it was. If I close it in too much I won’t have good ventilation for the exhaust fumes

      @@NorthwestSawyer I know it is more work but could fitting sliding barn doors on the road side help with the exhaust ?? or a couple of extractor fans , one set to blow in and another set to blow out ??

    Now you need to close in the sides and install a wood stove to keep your mill shed warm and get rid of your scraps.

      That’s what the wood stove in my house does😬

    Nice video.
    I also have a LT35 without a shelter yet.
    I was wondering,
    What are the distances on your post. Length and width, also what size material did you use to make those long headers. James

      Thank you, James. I have videos on the complete build if you’re interested. The long opening is 25’ and the narrow is 13’ if I remember correctly. I laminated 3-2”x8”s into those beams. To this day they’re still completely straight.

    Nice build brother! What the dimensions of the shed build? Also what is the height of the 8x8 beam going horizontal on each end opening? Thanks

      Thank you! The roof is 13’x30’. There’s 25’ between posts on the long run and 11’ on the ends. The low side is 8’ high and the high side is 11’.
