Very cool! Just got my sub, for sure. Bought 20 acres in Montana last summer, as soon as I’m not snowed in I’ll be heading down the mountain to pick up a sawmill & will be building a covering. $250 is a nice cost! Hey buddy how are ya? Gotta say yer shed build looks awesome!! I like that you laminated the supports to include the braces nice and clean! I loved the comment you made. “ it’s pretty straight for Home Depot” that’s so funny cuzz down here in kaliforniastan the only lumber at the big box stores should be called fishhook wood, or swizzle sticks. NE Sawyer here. Was a 30% chance of rain in northern Vermont today. So it rained almost all day. Screwed me up for sawing, it's just too messy with the red pine bark and dust.
Looks like we had a little bit of the dropsies. LOL. Surprised you don't have some sort of kicker under the rafters or don't you think they are needed? Great job. Now you can stay dry in the wet Northwest.
I agree, of course, with the others, this is just a great 'milling shed for you, and should let you work in a lot more comfort. I built one of those ' quonset type' steel buildings a while ago, and I can understand how you feel in having a buddy there to help, those folks are a great help, ' especially when they too know what to do'!
I love your sawmill. If it was mine I would take the gas motor off and put on an electric motor and connect it up to a battery bank and a solar array on your milling shed. That’s what I plan to do myself.
I think this is great work. I want to use your idea of laminating the boards to lock them together rather than solid beams. Do you have any concern about the side of roof sticking past the main supports and rafters? Would they lift in strong wind? Mine is going to be in the woods so I’m guessing much less wind. I’d like to use that idea from you too. Thx so much and keep it up. You really look to be enjoying it.

Hi there just wondering what you used for your Post and what you treated them with on your sawmill shed I want to cover my lt 35 also

I'm doing something similar with my lt 15 wide man 54$ so far 12 x12 10 ft high need my tin still. Feels good milled it all so far.
Awesome! You’re gonna feel great when it’s done!
I want to build a woodmill shed as well but living in upstate NY we get a huge snow load and can have up to 3' of packed snow on the roof, so I will have to notch my rafters and have them sit on top of the beams. I don’t have storage for my lumber. I typically make what I need and use it fairly quickly.
Rookie here, any issue not drying wood before using? I would love to mill what I need , but was under the impression that it would need drying time?
It depends on what you’re milling and for what purpose. Hardwood for furniture definitely has to dry. Framing lumber should also dry but it’s a much shorter period than furniture lumber. I built my sawmill shed out of green lumber. I’ve noticed a little shrinkage but the structure is as sturdy as the day I built it.

Great work 👍👍 Are you going to close in the other walls ?? As I would have thought that driving rain or snow would still get the mill ???
That’s still a possibility but it’ll be much better that it was. If I close it in too much I won’t have good ventilation for the exhaust fumes
@@NorthwestSawyer I know it is more work but could fitting sliding barn doors on the road side help with the exhaust ?? or a couple of extractor fans , one set to blow in and another set to blow out ??
