    How does the emblem above the glove compartment come out?

    • @DixieRestorationDepot
      @DixieRestorationDepot  Місяць тому

      That one was glued on, a little bit of pressure from a pry tool and it popped right out.

      @ ok, the replacement has what looks like pointed prongs. Wasn't sure if I needed clips or something.
      Thank you!

      Yes, we have a cover for the 78-80 dashes as well, do you have a center speaker or the outer speakers?

    Wouldn’t polyurethane be much stronger?

      It would likely be twice as expensive as well, and much harder to paint. Given the options, ABS works very well.

    1986 El Camino. He says to cut the trim out around radio bezel so yours will fit. I found out the hard way but it would have been better to not cut it till it’s glued in. Once you cut it there’s no place to be able to push it back and hold it. And for the ones asking if you can do it with it still in the car it would be very hard if not impossible to get it on there with it in the car. For the ones that said he makes it look easy, he still cracked it putting it on. Don’t be fooled it’s a lot of work if you want it to look good. But perfect not sure that would be possible with this but close anyway. Still looks better then a dash all busted up. I used a heat gun in problem areas but be careful doing that.

      Hey getting ready to do a 1985... anything else I should be aware of? I was a bit disappointed the speaker area is not like the original... I thought about cutting it but after I sobered up I decided not to. I am doin the whole interior because the car was a shell. I was lucky and found a bunch of gbody parts I had stashed.
      Once I get everything bolted,screwed,clipped and make sure the heat only system I got works I will then dye it... I did test fit the cover and it seemed to fit ok. I realize it needs trimmed. Much appreciated 👍🏻

    Next take 1/8 off the glove box so it will fit . Then same for heater cover . Use extreme force force your gauge cluster . Thickness of the material is a issue

      A few questions, did you use our cover? removing some material around the radio plate area is common on 86-88 cars because of the radio plate, but I have never had to force the gauge cluster back in, I have had a similar experience with the glovebox area where some need trimming and others fit wonderful.

    Anyone have any pictures of their dash pad install? How does it look? Can you tell it is a dash cap?

      Hey Mark, the best advice I can give is to dry-fit the cover repeatedly, like a good paint job it's all about the prep work, feel free to give me a call with any questions. 877-243-4943 and my name is Rob

    What glue did you use

    • @DixieRestorationDepot
      @DixieRestorationDepot  4 роки тому +2

      The 100% RTV silicone that comes with the dash cover. I highly recommend using more of it but I wanted to show it could be done with just the tube that it comes with.

      Yes, you can install the dash cover while the dash is in the car, for video purposes, it was just easier to remove the entire dashboard.
