They were signed by Robert Stigwood who was partner to Brian Epstein who was the Beatles manager and their company’s name was NEMS. They were offered a five year contract right off. When Epstein died suddenly from an overdose of sleeping pills Stigwood formed his own company RSO and The Bee Gees and Eric Clapton were his exclusive clients. Their youngest brother Andy was a very successful singer who had three #1´s as a new artist. A great song to react is “I just want to be your everything” written by Barry. The Bee Gees helped him write many of his songs and they produced his records.
My favorite by Andy was "Flowing Rivers" because there's more of him in that song and that album. Barry had more and more influence in his music as time went on.
I was a fan-girl for Andy more than his older brothers, as he was in my age range. I was born in 1967, so he was only 9 yrs older than me. He quite the heartthrob for teen girls as well as grown women. I still remember the day when my cousin bought his single "I just want to be your everything". She played it over & over until I had learned all the words so we could sing along to her record player - no karaoke machines back then LOL. I'm 55 now & still remember every word & note of that song & also "Shadow Dancing." 😂
Robin was the greatest voice I have ever heard. Listen to some of his songs where he is the lead. For Whom The Bell Tolls...I Started A Joke...Massachusetts...
Andy Gibb----"Shadow Dancing"----"I Want to Be Your Everything"---These two songs should get you started off on the right foot! Andy might have become more famous than his brothers had he lived, but I hope to see your reaction to these two songs when they happen.
They sang a tribute song to their little brother " Andy Gibb' after his passing, with videos of his life. The song was called, " Wish You Were Here'!! Breaks my heart every time I hear and see it! Soon Andy, Maurice and Robin. WWG1WGA!!
Andy Gibb's "Our Love (Don't throw it all away) is one of his best songs....I'd love for you to react to it. Barry Gibb is my favorite but Andy was a good solo artist in his own right.
Love your reactions & comments! Still have to do so many- Run to Me, Wind of Change, Love You Inside Out, Emotion with Samantha Sang, Heartbreaker - written for Dionne Warwick, & so many more! They recorded 30 albums! Barry just put out an album called Greenfields working with other artists & recording certain BeeGees songs again.
New recommendation for you Hall and Oates "Sara smile" "She's gone" " Kiss on my list" "You make my dreams" "Rich girl" "I can't go for that" "Private eyes" "Maneater" "One on one" "Method of modern love" "Out of touch" great pop/rock band from the 70's 80's and 90's
I Got married in 1980 because of this song. Met my husband in a disco where every time they played that song, he would drag me on the dance floor. Eventually, he sang it to me, after that we got engaged and eventually married. We are divorced now but still love the 🎵 song.. All the swirls and dips went to my head...lol
I agree with you completely, the Bee Gees are the best group ever!! I love them too!! I appreciate we have all these beautiful songs to listen to for many more years. I have been listening from their very beginning and will until I leave this world. All three brothers are Great singers and do lead on many songs. Barry is such a tremendous falsetto singer. The harmonies are unique so beautiful. The more songs you listen to the more favorites you will have. Great reaction!! They were founded by a Robert Stigwood who worked with the man Brian Epstein who founded the Beatles.
I'll start slow, first of all "great reaction" man. Barry and MJ were really close friends, in fact while Mike was going through his trial back in the early 90's he stayed with Barry & Linda and their kids for a while in Miami. Ok would love to see your reactions to " Fanny be tender with my love" and an older one before they started singing falsettos " walking back to Waterloo" from 1970 " run to me" was as also pre falsettos and another great track 😉😀
Barry said, when MJ was staying with them, he'd sit in the kitchen, watching fans mobbed around the hotel (they thought he was at) on TV, & just giggle. MJ is also the namesake & godfather of Barry & Linda's son, Michael (born 1984).
Go deeper. ‘Nights on Broadway’ ‘Massachusetts’ ‘I Started A Joke’ ‘To Love Somebody’ ‘How Can You Mend A Broken Heart’ ‘Fanny’ ‘Love So Right’ ‘I’ve Gotta Get a Message to You’.😃😎
You need to listen to Tragedy, You Win Again , Fanny Be Tender With My Heart. You’ll find out just how awesome they were. Barry said being inducted into the Song Writing hall of fame meant more to him than anything. Yes Andy had several number one hits Shadow Dancing was his biggest written by Barry and then
They used a lot of violins in disco music and that's what made it even better. Just pay attention when you react to disco songs, you'll always hear violins in the background.
They were born in the UK, grew up in aussie. They were signed as little kids in australia in the 60's, then went to the UK, and on to the US. Barry put out an album during covid.
you have got to check out Andy Gibb , he was the youngest brother who died at 30 , Shadow Dancing is my favorite . he was so much like Barry to me , i had such a huge crush on both of them .
Originally BeeGees were signed with Robert Stigwood, which became RSO, in 1967 when they came back to England. Ya, sooooo many favorites!! Try Fanny (named after the worker who became their friend when they were recording in Miami upon Eric Clapton's suggestion), you will like that one too, and I've already posted so many of favorites 😁
They were sensational as always!! There are many many songs of theirs you will love!! Pity you didn't have the video, & was very quiet, yet I could hear you well!! Never mind!! 🙂
Another one from the soundtrack to “Saturday Night Fever.” Yes, it’s many violins…as well as other strings. Songs by their little brother Andy: Shadow Dancing, I Want To Be Your Everything…
At one point in time, the Brothers Gibb wrote and produced 6 consecutive #1 hits in the USA. Many of their compositions (such as Words) have become standards and are deeply-ingrained in the popular songbook. Among the hundreds (if not thousands) of artists who have recorded and/or performed Gibb songs are (in alphabetical order): Boyzone, Michael Buble, Eric Clapton, Destiny’s Child, Celine Dion, Faith No More, The Gatlin Brothers, Al Green, Elton John, Tom Jones, Janis Joplin, Lulu, Olivia Newton-John, Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley, Kenny Rogers, Diana Ross, Nina Simone, Rod Stewart, Barbra Streisand, Take That, Tina Turner, Conway Twitty, Dionne Warwick, Frankie Valli, and, of course, their late brother Andy. How about that. Epic.
Back in the day, I remarked, "Hey, I just realized that B. G.'s stands for Brothers Gibb!" And my friends laughed at me. I was not as clued in I guess, lol.
The group Tavares also sang it and it was on the same Saturday Night Fever album. They have so many good songs. I am old and I loved them back in the day! 10:20 pm
29! Thats how many top 40 hits the great Bee Gee's had. Plenty to choose from. They wrote nearly all of their own music. So even if it wasn't a top 40, they have even MORE great songs too. Heh, you should do a reaction once a month from now on. BeeGee day lol You could do it every month for 6 years!
I’m New to your channel and I love how honest your reactions are. The BeeGees are amazing songwriters and singers, glad you have enjoyed diving into their catalog. Would you consider checking out Billy Joel? He has a great catalog of music from the 70s, 80s and 90s. I would recommend starting with New York State of Mind from the Old Grey Whistle Test and the Piano Man video. Its a deep rabbit hole just like the BeeGees. Keep those great reactions coming.
Michael J and Barry were good friends. He was godfather to his and wife Linda's fourth son named Michael. Michael loved hiding out from his fans at Barry's house in Miami.
“More Than a Woman” is one of the Bee Gees’ songs in the sound track for the movie “Saturday Night Fever”. The movie stars a young John Travolta who plays a guy who works in a paint store and who goes out to discos on Saturday nights. He falls for a woman he has known for a while in the movie. This is the movie that kicked off the disco era. If you want to see the scene from the movie in which the song “More Than a Woman” played, here’s the link. It’s John Travolta and “the woman” dancing and realizing their deep feelings for each other. ua-cam.com/video/717TcuN_-oo/v-deo.html I’d love to see you react to another song from the movie, “Stayin’ Alive”. The song plays in the opening scene of the movie with John Travolta strutting down a street in NYC and just stayin' alive. Here's a link: ua-cam.com/video/HVEqy6K18Yo/v-deo.html And here’s a link to the Bee Gees’ video of “Stayin’ Alive” - ua-cam.com/video/fNFzfwLM72c/v-deo.html Bee Gees songs from the movie soundtrack: "Stayin' Alive" "How Deep Is Your Love" "Night Fever" "More Than a Woman" "Jive Talkin'" "You Should Be Dancing" "If I Can't Have You" (written by the Bee Gees, performed by Yvonne Elliman)
Let's be clear. Disco was around for a while before the BeeGees. The Hues Corporation, George McCrae (Rock Your Baby), Donna Summer, and hundreds of others had big disco hits long before The BeeGees. Saturday Night Fever just made it popular with white people. Fortunately disco is the music of love and inclusion, and when The BeeGees hopped on the bandwagon they were easily accepted. It is true to say however that this movie kicked off the career of John Travolta.
@@helgar791 Thanks-- Just about to correct Eileen, but you did a great job. Yes, Bee Gees jump-started an already flagging disco scene globally for mass, racially inclusive participation.
The Bee Gee’s rode the top to the end of the disco era which saw a “Disco Sucks” labeling, and rock music took over after the “anti-disco” movement all though some folks held onto their disco music it was secondary to the next genre.
This would have been another #1 single if the Bee Gees had released it as a single. Instead, they late the group Tavares release their version of the song as a single. Both versions were included on the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack album, and also in the movie. Radio stations did play the Bee Gees version from the album at the same time that the Tavares version was out as a single, but only the Tavares version could be tracked on the Billboard Hot 100 since it was the only single version. But I really believe if the Bee Gees had released their version as a single, it would have been another #1 hit for them.
Oh, just wait until you hear more from them. Your favourite one is always the last one you hear. Its a musical whack a mole. Jive Talkin, Nights on Broadway, Fanny be Tender, Night Fever... and on and on

There is a group called the Stylistics have a lead singer named Russell who sounds a lot like Barry. There are a lot of great falsetto singers out there; Phillip Bailey of Earth, Wind, & Fire, Heatwave's lead singer, El Debarge, Bobby Debarge of Switch, Peter Citeria of Chicago to name a few.

Barry’s falsetto was at its height the 70s and early 80s.
