06:45 - Sorry, y'all, we filmed this "live to tape" and when JB went from the Shure SM57 to the DI Cab Sim out on the Amp, (in the heat of the battle) we didn't flip the camera preamp switch from 'mic' to 'line' so that's why you not only hear a buzz (from the increased voltage/volume) but the entire signal goes berserk, or as Tim Marcus (solid dude behind Milkman) said, "I think a 57 puts out like .5V tops-the DI on The Amp can drive 12V before it starts to clip. That poor camera preamp was getting slammed with a firehose of tone from John's tasty licks." Thanks for understanding and, of course, thanks for watching!
the added footage is great. better to leave it in rather than cut it just because of some less pristine audio. Now compare to the 2018 carvin audio tube amp-pedal.....
how about u chillax and appreciate the 11 mins out of the almost 14 min video which are of primo JB playing guitar. its called FIRST LOOK, u know. is it too much to ask for u to stop being a hater?
Uncanny, I wrote "dock of the bay" the other day whilst noodling. At least I caught it, once I wrote Purple rain and took it to the band! Nice playing John.
Thank you for the review! I was looking forward to hearing this amp. Still not sure on it, hopefully PG will do a full in-depth look. A review from That Pedal Show would be a good guide, Anderton's "maybe", depending on who demos it. However, please review that Vox Mini Super Beetle that is in the corner!
JB, I’ve been intrigued by this since the guys at Milkman showed it to you guys at NAMM last winter(?). Now after hearing how legit it sounds (especially with that spring reverb engaged), this is the perfect amp on the go. You & Perry are pretty damn lucky to get your hands on killer stuff ahead of time.

The mistakes in the video review are a serious injustice to the product. I know Premier Guitar presented a mea culpa with their mistakes, but seriously, I think they should redo the video. Having now played this amp for a couple of months and being nothing but floored, I am actually upset for Tim.
I think doing minimum a redo, or a revisiting the review with presenting the Amp 100 variant, and the 12-inch combo one (without any hiccups) would do solid justice to this product, and to the Milkman brand. Everyone I've talked to says it's a darn good-sounding amp with lots of options, and the hallmark sweet Milkman clean tone.
@@telee19 Great to hear that; I am planning on getting the Combo variant as I am into big clean/headroom tone, and I really like the baseline tone you get from the The Amp; then there are the verb & the vca trem features and those sound just fantastic. I would love to hear what you like about the amp, and what you would personally want done slightly differently, if I may ask. Thanks!
In a world of weekly releases and deadlines, I think people need to remember that these guys have other music jobs and sessions going . Cheers for a great vid Premier G! On a side note. After having to go abroad for some gigs last year this seems like a great solution to airport BS!
Yes, unless you run direct out to a mixer or interface. You can also use it as an amp sim pedal, I suppose, if you really wanted to blast the shit out of an amp input stage.

We didn't adjust the input setting on the camera's preamp from 'mic' to 'line' since we filmed this in the heat of the battle and JB pulled that ace out of his sleeve!
I hear everyone saying it can go on your pedalboard, but if you're just using a Voodoolabs or something like that, would you be able to power it through the back of the unit in the AC input spot? P.S. Stop buying so many pedals and get a new pair of shoes lol.
Nailed it - we didn't adjust the input setting on the camera's preamp from 'mic' to 'line' since we filmed this in the heat of the battle (filmed live to tape) and JB pulled that ace out of his sleeve!
You need to bend the neck away from the body to get some vibrato (which is effective but not very safe for the guitar). If you move the neck up or down together with the body, the strings won't get any tension, it's a useless movement.
Is this the new direction for amps? Bluguitar Amp1, Seymour Duncan Powerstage, Vox MV50...there are others but those are what comes to mind. How do they all compare? The sound recording is way better now. I can hear John and the amp at a balanced level.
I do think this is the new direction. The older designs consume a lot of power, and I think tube manufacturing is pretty toxic. I'm extremely happy with my Amp1, the clean channel is superb and takes pedals like a boss
I think this is the wave of the future as technology has improved, allowing the use of class D amps that sound incredible with a quality tube preamp in front. Actually, the first pedalboard amplifier was released by Demeter Amplification. It's called the TGA-1-180D The Mighty Minnie. 60 Watts at 16 ohms, 100 watts at 8 ohms, and 180 watts at 4 ohms. Same clean preamp as the legendary TGA 3 amp they have made for many years. I have used one since 2014 and in my opinion, it sounds every bit as good as an all-tube amp. I also had them add a tube-driven effects loop which really warms up the reverb I added. Check it out: www.demeteramps.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=60&product_id=95
Anthony Taormina Disagree about the first part as I don't think this video is a good representation of the product other than a first look/ trying to figure out video. As for the pedal in terms of long term value only time will tell. I'd argue that the people buying this aren't long term collectors but rather long term musicians that want a versatile, small tube based, all basics in one toolbox. I suppose only upon release to the public will we know how it pans out. After watching some of the other videos on it I'm pretty sure I'd take it over lugging a fender type amp around.
My gawd this demo is not doing this "amp" any favors. That sounds awful. The treble was completely dimed with P90's and it still sounded like it was muffled by a wet blanket. Yikes!
I agree with a lot of the comments here: I wanted to like this amp but I didn't like the sound of it. I also found it hard to listen to this guy talk. I'm not trying to hate on the guy, I just don't understand why so many of these "demo" guitar players have to talk like some schlock-rock DJ. Why can't he/they just talk normally instead of trying to be "entertaining."
Chillax? Hater? Give me a break. It sounds like ass and PG even acknowledged it.
Bohlinger has plenty of primo demos and this ain't one of em.
One Break, Coming Up!
I love the Boss-DR-880 Drum Machine in-the -background. I have one too and I Love it. Always Enjoy your Rig Rundowns John. Great stuff !!!
Uncanny, I wrote "dock of the bay" the other day whilst noodling. At least I caught it, once I wrote Purple rain and took it to the band! Nice playing John.
Beautiful intro, John. So sweet. Steve Cropper is smiling.
This thing is so cool. And John is such a tasteful player. Loved that arrangement of Sittin on the Dock at the top.
Sounding great Johnny boy. Legend!

Awesome review!
Amazing sound of this Les Paul...

Nice playing. Great tremello.
Nice sound!
"Hell, let's just dime this pig" Gotta love it!
Cab simulation sounds closer to a taxi cab than a speaker cab.
Sorry, y'all, we filmed this "live to tape" and when JB went from the Shure SM57 to the DI Cab Sim out on the Amp, (in the heat of the battle) didn't flip the camera preamp switch from 'mic' to 'line' so that's why you not only hear a buzz (from the increased voltage/volume) but the entire signal goes berserk, or as Tim Marcus (solid dude behind Milkman) said, "I think a 57 puts out like .5V tops-the DI on The Amp can drive 12V before it starts to clip. 😂🤣
Bollinger is a Boss. DRUMMM MACHIIIINNNEEEE! cool tshirt btw
You are a beast
Sister Rosetta Thorpe, yea man,I love the one of her playing the white S.G. Custom at the train station-stage.
Sittin on the dock bro!! Nice!

Sounds great! What year is that gold top? Just wondering.
That cab sim demo made me taste metal... like you know, after hitting your head really badly.
Man, I love John and all his demos but Everytime I get a piece of gear that I seen him test out I never make it sound quite as good as him 😂😂
really wanted to like this since I first saw it demo'd at the trade show but it doesn't sound good to me.
In a world of weekly releases and deadlines, I think people need to remember that these guys have other music jobs and sessions going . Cheers for a great vid Premier G!
On a side note.
After having to go abroad for some gigs last year this seems like a great solution to airport BS!
John, Are you holding your sneaker together with duct tape?
I do believe the Direct Out needs an IR Cab...
Oops I missed that. 54 Les Paul. Beautiful guitar
For this to work...it has to go into a Cabinet correct? Example: “Guitar cord into Amp...then cord from amp into Speaker Cab Correct?”
Yes, unless you run direct out to a mixer or interface. You can also use it as an amp sim pedal, I suppose, if you really wanted to blast the shit out of an amp input stage.
Is that Les Paul a 54? Beautiful goldtop, i used to have a 53
@3:12
The chops were choice, as always.
Can you still crank it and get it loud with no distortion?
What is the impedance for the 1/4” TRS input?
The milkman just got fired!😭
John, whats with the tape holding your shoe together? 😁😁
He goes shoe shopping....and comes back with a guitar. Don’t we all?
Can anyone reccomend a pair of headphones to use with the white milkman 50 ? Thanks
Where is Chris Kies? Just askin' :)
I guess the amp simulation was off because it clearly sounds like a preamp going directly into a mixer...just not right.
Sorry, y'all, we filmed this "live to tape" and when JB went from the Shure SM57 to the DI Cab Sim out on the Amp, (in the heat of the battle) didn't flip the camera preamp switch from 'mic' to 'line' so that's why you not only hear a buzz (from the increased voltage/volume) but the entire signal goes berserk, or as Tim Marcus (solid dude behind Milkman) said, "I think a 57 puts out like .5V tops-the DI on The Amp can drive 12V before it starts to clip. no problem, guess its obvious that this is not the best result you can get from the DI Cab Sim.
Are you sure the cab sim was on?
We didn't adjust the input setting on the camera's preamp from 'mic' to 'line' since we filmed this in the heat of the battle and JB pulled that ace out of his sleeve!
Does it have an effects loop?
Brett Marlar no
sitting on the dock of the bay...
Id say the direct out had enough clipping going on. Damn.
I hear everyone saying it can go on your pedalboard, but if you're just using a Voodoolabs or something like that, would you be able to power it through the back of the unit in the AC input spot?
P.S. Stop buying so many pedals and get a new pair of shoes lol.
ditto on the shoes, noticed that as well, but you dont have to buy new ones, just get a good old magic-eraser and buff 'em up.. tada white comes back
Looks like Bloomfields goldtop.
Clean sounds are nice, but the overdrive tones as pretty harsh.
bad ass!?!?!?
volume warning at 7:00
Sounds like the cab sim is clipping the mic pre on the camera??
Nailed it - we didn't adjust the input setting on the camera's preamp from 'mic' to 'line' since we filmed this in the heat of the battle (filmed live to tape) and JB pulled that ace out of his sleeve!
Premier Guitar - Easy mistake. No doubt we'll get a proper listen to the DI in a forthcoming review. Looking forward to it!
Here's our NAMM demo on The Amp with RJ Ronquillo - ua-cam.com/video/b3RBXeuiy18/v-deo.html
Cab Sim was HARSH!
It sounded direct to me, with the cab sim off.
Wrong input on the camera
Cab sim is bypassed unfortunately
Hard to beat a P-90.
Totally awesome if this thing was $200-300 would buy. Nothing like a portable tube amp. But EHX makes the 44 magnum pedal tube amp for much less cash.
I agree. The $749 price tag really threw me for a loop. There need to be more good affordable options out there.
Is it just me or was the Cypress Hill’s “Hits From The Bong” 4:30
Tristan Hopperton it’s actually “son of a preacher man” which cypress hill sampled to make the beat for hits from the bong
I’m guessing the cab sim was clipping the camera. Otherwise, yikes....
We know you make money man, retire those shoes
He just likes reliced shoes, let the man be
All the money is wrapped up in guitars! Shoes aren't a necessity 😛
John, why do you move the neck up and down (like at 1:49) as if it has an impact on the sound?
You can get a kind of vibrato like that. I"m not very good at it, but some people really nail it.
You need to bend the neck away from the body to get some vibrato (which is effective but not very safe for the guitar). If you move the neck up or down together with the body, the strings won't get any tension, it's a useless movement.
Steve Cropper won't dare to go out from home today.
Ehhmm, whats with that black duct tape on your left sneaker dude??? o_O

carvin steve vai signature tube 'head' pedal
Jesus Loves You
Sister Rosetta tharpe
Cab sim is on the headphone out
Kevin Monie cab sim is a different output jack
Nope. Hearing this amp made my dinner taste funny.
It's too much to ask. A direct signal to a speaker or a board sounds like no good. Unless.
Seven. Hundred. Dollars. 😳
geetarbube if you can do it cheaper, I’ll buy yours!
Would you pay $700 dollars for a head? If so, why not this?
Nolan G because most $700 heads sound better and long term will hold their value better.
Anthony Taormina Disagree about the first part as I don't think this video is a good representation of the product other than a first look/ trying to figure out video. Is it a winner or a weiner?
Sounds like the Bluguitar Amp1 kills this thing.
This video turned me down from buying this amp lol

MSRP $700
Price on Reverb this time next year...
$275 and even then im gonna say NOPE

That cab sim sounds 😖
Seriously slandering the product with the camera input mishap. Should take down!
Nah sorry. Didn't dig this one at all.
Drive pedals into this thing sounds horrid.
Michael Boone I have one of these and it takes drive pedals amazing. The video doesn’t represent this well.
BORING
