When I was 4 years old I went trick or treating. One house had no candy and gave me an nes cartridge that had the label ripped off of it. It turned out to be this game.
my all time favorite. My dad spent so many weeks trying to beat it when I was 5. He finally beat it and never played it again. I played it with him watching about 4 years ago. Did the boss glitch and he looked at me and left the room. LOL great times.
I use to absolutely love this game as a kid!!! My grandma got it for me for Christmas and this video just brought up ridiculous emotions!! Took me back to like 1989 6 years old!!
I played this for many hours of my childhood. On my own, I never figured out that the vicegrips restored your speed, or that the buildings that go nowhere give you an extra health bar, until I saw gameplay on UA-cam. That key glitch on boss fights is a trip! Thanks for the nostalgia!
This is one of those games it seemed like everybody had a friend who had it. I must have played for hours and hours and hours several times and never got anywhere.
I swear, I watch these mostly because I love the relaxed way he hums along with BG music. Something about it being just a little off timing from the game makes it more endearing.
@@deceiver444 And when he sang “Mash, mash, mash, mash “ along with the tune at the one-minute mark I was cracking up 😂. I wish I was that chill when playing this frustrating game. Still find some enjoyment in it though.
I know I'm outspoken on this, but I actually liked this game as a kid - but also back then you could only play what you were lucky to get at Christmas/Birthdays, so maybe it's a nostalgia thing. Couple of things. 1.) My compliments sir, I remember playing this for about 5 minutes before switching to the NES Advanced to take advantage of the turbo option so my right forearm wouldn't be aching with fatigue due to button smashing. So it's pretty impressive, for me anyway, seeing you complete this without any sort of turbo function. 2.) Had no idea about the boss glitches, which is pretty freakin sweet. Great video! Glad I found your channel.
I don't understand how someone can be so calm playing this. I cursed all the way many, many times before I finally beat the game, and haven't touched it since :D
This game was the bane of my existence back in the 80’s lol I don’t know what it was but I had the hardest time with it. Finally beat it a few years back. Thanks interwebz!
Nice. I created a code for this that STARTED you at the ending. I mean you just put in the code, hit start, and the ending of the game starts! I did that for one other game too (Super C).
This is such a bizarre game. I remember being impressed by the commercials when I was little-- if you die you start all over? whoa! -- but I had NO idea who Fester was. The Addams Family movie hadn't come out yet, and the show wasn't being rerun on TV (at least where I lived). Who was the target audience for this?!
I swear this game was intended to be Blaster Master 2 but they slapped the Addams Family into it. Sound effects, enemies, they're all similar to Blaster Master.
We had one of those 'claw' machine things where kids try (and almost always fail) to lift out a plush toy. It was disconnected and had nothing in it (other than some spiders) though. I'm not sure if it came with the rental or one of my mate's dickhead friends was using our yard for storage..
I don't remember who made it, but we got an aftermarket controller that was identical size to the stock NES unit, but had Rapid Fire. That was a game changer. All the NES optional controllers that had RF were funky shaped.
The biggest problem in this game is the weapons. Most of them have a good spread and deal damage - if you're in an open area and most of the time you're not. The spread of the weapons becomes your worst enemy when you're in an area that has limited space as the damn projectiles don't pass through the walls. You also don't know what weapon you get as all the power ups simply say "gun"
Sunsoft made such sick games. They took the Addams Family and made a stunningly weird creepy (when I was a kid anyway,) shooter out of fucking Uncle Fester. Blaster Mastet Overdrive was thier magnificent return in 2006 though.
My weird uncle got me this game because he grew up watching The Addams Family even though I'd never heard of it. I hated this game, but it was just intriguing enough for me to dig it out once in a great while and have a go. I got pretty far but never beat it.
This was the game that my uncle rage quit on when he was a kid back in the early 90's and he broke the door off a NES due to this game by punching the top of it because he kept dying over and over again.
I got this game as a kid and loved it. I found out recently the EU release fixed the issue with the gun bullets being blocked by objects. I was pissed!! Haha.
When I was 4 years old I went trick or treating. One house had no candy and gave me an nes cartridge that had the label ripped off of it. It turned out to be this game.
F
Keep it!
You got owned
Haha, what an appropriate Halloween treat!
lol you got ripped off

I remember the day I finally finished this game. It has taken me years to do it. Started playing it when I was 10. Finally finished it last week.
Lol. I remember when I finished playing this game too. Never finished it, just stopped.
From your tone, I am going to guess this means you're not eleven.
Took me 10 years too, but I have the proof pic!
This is one of those games it seemed like everybody had a friend who had it. I must have played for hours and hours and hours several times and never got anywhere.
All I hear in my mind while watching this is James Rolfe screaming “ASS” in the background.
That was a really good episode
Still have ptsd flashbacks of this game.
*Makes your character slow*
*Punishes your character for being slow by adding a super strong, instantly respawning enemy if you dawdle too long*
I swear, I watch these mostly because I love the relaxed way he hums along with BG music. Something about it being just a little off timing from the game makes it more endearing.
The unmistakable Arcus touch

his gud spirit brings me joy in my depressing life
Sunsoft had a quarterly mailing list newsletter and once they sent a 6 pg strategy guide covering this whole game.
This was a fun and weird game and the music is great. The boss houses were scary.
I know I'm outspoken on this, but I actually liked this game as a kid - but also back then you could only play what you were lucky to get at Christmas/Birthdays, so maybe it's a nostalgia thing.

Great video! Glad I found your channel.
Love this game. Used an NES Advantage to beat it. It probably didn't age well but I'm still convinced it has a killer soundtrack.
Sunsoft audio direction back in the NES days was top tier.
I don't understand how someone can be so calm playing this. I cursed all the way many, many times before I finally beat the game, and haven't touched it since :D
This game gets a lot of hate but I like it. When I was very young my dad used it to teach me right and left in the sewers so it has nostalgia.
Did it go something like: "Turn right son, then take your next left, right? Then right.. that's right! Then left again and you're right!" :P
this guy has speedruns on all the nerds hated games. avgn.
Its amazing man!
I am fascinated by the way your videos are perfect for falling asleep to, but also keep my attention when I do watch.
This game was the bane of my existence back in the 80’s lol I don’t know what it was but I had the hardest time with it. Finally beat it a few years back. Thanks interwebz!
My Grandpa made his own game genie codes(as FQ wasn't in the book yet) to beat it. Good memories.
Nice. I created a code for this that STARTED you at the ending. I mean you just put in the code, hit start, and the ending of the game starts! I did that for one other game too (Super C).
Your Grandpa!! Damn making me feel old.
I bought this game when it first released. I have owned it for nearly 30 years. I never knew what Vice Grips were for. lol.
The beauty of nes games
I don’t even care about speed running but I find Arcus totally adorable.
Mash mash mash.
@@whatever9626 And KLUNK!
For reals, the game is so frustrating to watch even when someone is a master at it. He makes it bearable.
Lag!
You're adorable! You're all adorable.
Yaaaay!!!
Kudos to you man, I couldn't even come close to beating this game without a NES advantage.
Digging the new set up Arcus!!!
I love your channel! Keep it up and I hope more people find you
Fester Master, the sequel to Blaster Master. Anyone else see the similarities?
I was gling to comment about the similarities(especially with the weapons and theyre both Sunsoft games), but you beat me to it.
You can definitely hear the similarities to.
I thought the same thing too.
Hard not to.
Please explain - how in the hell did you do that key trick with the bosses??????!!
Okay, I played around and found - each boss room has a hidden door - keep pressing A, with the key selected and you will find it. Thanks Arcus!
Seriously, where the fuck was that when I was a kid? Hahaha
no controller with turbo! wow, i thought that was required.
Same
according to speedrun rules turbo controller are not allowed that will disqualify the run.
The music to this game is awesome and also makes me burst out laughing.
James Rolfe would be dumbfounded right now for the simple fact that you are killing things and are actually progressing somewhere in the game lol
Great job Arcus! Made it look easy as always. Especially without an NES Max. Congrats!
Speedrunning fester's quest? You're a mad man!!!!!!
No, just No Fn way..u destroyed fester's quest like u just did 🤯...well between this and your WR of Ninja Gaiden you earned another sub.
Never played this but clearly sunsoft used blaster master as the chassis when they made this.
This game drove me nuts. After I saw your ninja gaiden speedrun, I see now that you also ran this game. Well scratch my back and call me charlie.
I love watching these, this guy is so boss
This guy is so calm, and seem super nice whilst kicking NES games' asses.
I got this as a kid when it came out and I had no idea what the hell was going on.
Still don't.
I wasnt even convinced you COULD beat this game as a kid until I saw it years later lol
I swear this game was intended to be Blaster Master 2 but they slapped the Addams Family into it. Sound effects, enemies, they're all similar to Blaster Master.
His voice is a combination of Bob Ross and Kip from Napoleon Dynamite.
One of my favorite nes games. I still play this on my phone
Favorite speed run legend Arcus is the Chuck Norris of classic gaming
After beating the first stage, I considered myself as had beaten the game.
Man that game was a pain!
How can anyone dislike Arcus videos?
I recently did another playthrough of Dragon Quest VIII. One of my favorites in the series
Dude, I hated this game because it was so hard. I got a bone watching you beat it
Best Blaster Master speedrun I've ever seen!
Sunsoft sound goodness.
6:25
🎶 I… just can’t handle… another hot dog… 🎵
love how this is identical to Blaster Master, but just a different protagonist
Even the pause boss trick works here too.
I was playing this last week and realized I still can't beat this game and Arcus does it in 24 minutes
I forgot how much this game’s music kicked ass. We need an SMB3 hack with this soundtrack
boss music is lit
I would love to live in a neighborhood where there’s a hot dog stand in the middle of someone’s back yard
I mean, that's almost Chicago.
We had one of those 'claw' machine things where kids try (and almost always fail) to lift out a plush toy.

Wow brought out forgotten memories... gg

From what I have seen blue gun is an upgrade, red gun is a downgrade
I remember renting this game just for the cover.. never really knew how to play it.
I rented this game once in the early 90s. Is it too late to get my money back?
@Hunter Bidens Crackpipe I'm pretty sure its the game too.
Rats...good Rats.
I came for the Klonk and stayed for the mash mash mash
This game has the look and feel of Blaster Master. Even the sound effects and soundtrack contain similar qualities.
Same developer. Sunsoft.
Best speedrunner EVER!
Guys, at one point in time, back when I was 9 and this game had just came out and it actually had hype behind it. Fester's Fucking Quest on NES
Sunsoft made such sick games. They took the Addams Family and made a stunningly weird creepy (when I was a kid anyway,) shooter out of fucking Uncle Fester. Blaster Mastet Overdrive was thier magnificent return in 2006 though.
i love the new setup so much !
My weird uncle got me this game because he grew up watching The Addams Family even though I'd never heard of it. I hated this game, but it was just intriguing enough for me to dig it out once in a great while and have a go. I got pretty far but never beat it.
This game was totally brainwashed into my mind as being super hard not worth the time and this guy handles it like a knife through butter OMG!
GG- hated the fuck out of this game as a kid- watching you beat it now is cathartic.
This was the game that my uncle rage quit on when he was a kid back in the early 90's and he broke the door off a NES due to this game by punching the top of it because he kept dying over and over again.
New set up show arcus wearing pantaloons. I always imagine people wearing shorts when streaming at home. :p
Don't really watch too many speed runners, but Arcus is definitely my preferred. Fester quest was never really one I could get into tbf
To heck with this game. I'm glad I got to watch it get beat and done by the best no less.
I enjoy your channel, keep up the good work 💪👍
huh. never knew of the whole walking through walls thing.
Its almost just like TMNT, the way the water looks
the good ole rocking the button ..i remember my hand getting sore after awhile and trying to keep it going :v
Mash, mash, mash….CLUNK… love it
I just realised this game came out before the 1991 Addams Family movie.
This game looks like an utter chore to play.
It's like the weapons in this game were designed with entirely different stage layouts and enemies in mind. Who puts those fire patterns in this game?
Totally forgot about this game, do you have a preference in emulators? I see sooo many but dont know if any plug and play are worth it.
I got this game as a kid and loved it. I found out recently the EU release fixed the issue with the gun bullets being blocked by objects. I was pissed!! Haha.
Got this cart yesterday for Christmas!
Reset mash mash mash !!! My favourite speedruner :D IN This run there a hell alot of mashing mash mash mash :D and he is a god of that !!
Klonk!
Good run sir
Mash mash mash man my hand hurts from watching this 1
I was thirteen when I played this game. It was so hard.
This game is very similar to Blaster Master, especially the sound effects
I used to despise them wall cherries in the sewers
A game I've never beat. The main reason why my mom let us get a Nintendo when I was young lol
Well, so long as it's Jojo's quest.
Batman Family: beyond Bruce Wayne
Can you explain how to do the glitch? Just use a key?
How does he glitch the boss??
Same music as master blaster?
Ever did a speed run in Legendary Wings?
I discovered this game by watching too much AVGN and now I wanna play it xD
It’s a cheap pickup for sure. Had it as a kid and played countless hours of it. It’s not as bad as everyone likes to make it seem.
This game should be called festers blaster master
Sound reminds me of "blaster master"
