Seriously, this game is total shit. Games where the difficult level lies not in the platforming, enemy fights, or controls, but in knowing where to go and how to actually get there are total trashcans.
One of my favorite games back then. It took me weeks, if not months, to finish it - with all the hidden stuff and puzzles. And here it is reduced to mere minutes. Awesome.
Awesome. I remember getting up before school in middle school to play this. Fun to watch. All of the nostalgia without the frustration that came from these old games.
The clues in this game are totally random. How did they expect anyone to beat it? I mean at one point a key literally appears out of thin air. How could anyone figure that out?
I still own this game. Makes me want to dive in again. I remember my cousin beat this before I did when we were kids, after months and months, I was so mad.
8:49 It's weird how they did it but it's called Goonies 2 cause there was already a Goonies video game on the NES that came out in 1986 and this Goonies 2 came out a year later in 1987...so they had 2 games, hence the 2 part of it...but it is confusing cause they never made a 2nd movie...but went ahead and made another video game in the series...
I think it is funny that these old adventure games that were supposed to take weeks or months to beat almost all have world records that are less that 20 minutes long.
I love this and cast it to my TV when I WFH. Arcus, how come you jump when you take a death in a pit? Isn't it faster to just walk off the edge? If you jump then at the point of the edge you are higher and it takes a split second extra. Or am I wrong?
Never seen this game before. The look & feel reminds me of various other NES games. The underwater part looks & sounds like Crystalis, the buildings remind me of Friday the 13th, and the platforming is like generic NES.
Consider yourself LUCKY!!! POS game was always gone at the movie rental, and the 1 time I actually got it, none of us could get anywhere!! Still P'Od!!!
The original Goonies game was only on the Famicom and Nintendo Vs. arcade. It looks pretty similar, but Goonies II is like an enhanced version of the game.
What if they made a Goonies sequel based on this video game? Obviously they'd have to tweak some of the basic story, like Mikey still being a kid. Maybe... "Years after One-Eyed Willy's ship 'The Inferno' sinks after sailing away at the end of the first film, a young mermaid (Annie) searches for treasures among the wreckage and finds Mikey's marbles that he abandoned in place of the jewels. She is able to detect trace Atlantean magic from them and, believing Mikey to be of Atlantis, grows legs, and takes to the world above to find him. Mikey and the remaining Goonies are given the arduous task of providing testimony against the Fratelli's at their parole hearings, following their encounter with them in One-Eyed Willy's tunnels in 1985. All of them, including Sloth, are able to effectively provide the parole board with enough evidence to have their parole rejected. An elderly Mama Fratelli has a stroke and is placed in a prison hospital. Her nephew and former Fratelli hitman, codenamed Pipsqueak, is order to make "un'ultima resistenza" (a last stand). Mama Fratelli gives Pipsqueak the doubloon from the first film, and then passes away. Both Annie and Pipsqueak are attempting to track down Mikey and the Goonies. A news report of the recent parole hearing leads them both to the Goon Docks, where Mikey, who never married, now cares for his father in his childhood home after his mother passed away. Mikey is approached by Annie and is initially brushed off as a reporter looking for a story. But when Annie reveals her supernatural form by dipping her toes in a nearby pool, she is quickly ushered inside..."
@Steve Fitz Yeah, but that's pretty much a cheat guide, like I was saying. I'm just saying I can't imagine a 7-11 year old kid beating this game without a guide.
Last time I played this i sat with a load of feces in my pantaloons the whole time. My baby sitter didn't want to change me, so I ate my own shit. It was yesterday.
Goonies II is the weird combination of both the easiest and hardest NES games, depending on how you look at it. The platforming is easy and infinite continues in the same room. How many NES games give you that? But the obscure rooms and secrets ruin it all.
I think they did one of those Nintendo Power issues with maps and item locations for this game. Good luck beating this one without something like that. The game was a confusing mess playing it blind.
Argus does in 17 minutes what I haven't been able to do in 17 years...
Seriously, this game is total shit. Games where the difficult level lies not in the platforming, enemy fights, or controls, but in knowing where to go and how to actually get there are total trashcans.
Fucking A!!!!
@@jphasson Tell me about it!!! Remember renting this pos when it first came out; Never made it past the 2nd level...
I spent hundreds and hundreds of hours in this game, using the hitting every corner of every room... never beat it.
The fact you conquered this game in under 20 minutes should deserve a holiday dedicated to it
Not at all; Especially with an INTERNET to look up what to do...I still wan't my $2.99 back from renting this POS!!!
One of my favorite games back then. It took me weeks, if not months, to finish it - with all the hidden stuff and puzzles. And here it is reduced to mere minutes. Awesome.
Same. Had maps drawn on binder paper and everything lol
Lies. How did you finish it without a guide? You're lying.
1:30 "Mikey, you're late"
- wtf, i got to you in 1 minute and 21 seconds!
ParumPirum is there any way to get them to not say youre late?
No, it’s just a character thing.
@namelessjedi2242 you would think the developers would realize that players would try for 40 years to get them to say something else.
One of my favorite games when I was a kid! Thanks for running it.
Awesome. I remember getting up before school in middle school to play this. Fun to watch. All of the nostalgia without the frustration that came from these old games.
This game was impossible without a guide. Like when he drops the bomb in the middle of nowhere. How on earth would you find that? Insane.
I found the doors by accident
Coming from playing games like Zelda, you just learn to bomb/burn random shit
Nintendo power.
Play a lot, learn to try stuff. I did it with no guide.
Nintendo Power
I played this a ton with my friend. we never got anywhere lol.
Mike Miller sounds like my experience with most NES games as a 4 year old kid lol
The clues in this game are totally random. How did they expect anyone to beat it? I mean at one point a key literally appears out of thin air. How could anyone figure that out?
Smoove J - Get the Power. NINTENDO POWER!
sane here
This game is nearly pure memorization
I loved this game as a kid. It's one of my favorites on the NES.
Oh, this takes me back. Took me forever to beat this game as a kid. And you did it in under 18 minutes. I tip my hat off to you, good sir!!
This is one of those cryptic games I could never figure out what to do as a kid, and after watching this, I'm still unsure what the hell is going on.
Samesies.
I wish someone would make another game like this, or even just a good rom hack with all new locations.
I think there is now.
I still remember staying up all night playing this game never got anywhere 😂
You, and 2 million of us...Rented it, tried for 3 days; STILL couldn't get anywhere...POS game!
@@brentfarvors192
But it was fun bro
Well done! That room music still haunts me to this day 😆
Hours and hours of my childhood destroyed in 17 min and 40 seconds! Wonderful job!
I like The music in this game
about the only thing good there is. the game itself is broken
who doesnt
almost good as blaster master
My favorite theme from this game is the theme from the warp zones!
I still own this game. Makes me want to dive in again. I remember my cousin beat this before I did when we were kids, after months and months, I was so mad.
I had this as a kid. It was Metroid-level confusing...but at least there was a map. I was very proud of myself when I beat it.
I've never owned this game but I did have Metroid And Zelda 2 and it seems like a mixture between those two.
Love your speed runs
The best thing about Arcus's runs is Arcus.. change my mind
Damn I've never seen this game beat. You are the new master👍
"I think we're gonna die somewhere and that's okay."
The Zen master has fucking spoken.

Yep, it’s the 2nd Goonies game, so the title makes sense.
and neither of them have anything really to do with the movie so far as the actual gameplay, just a few shoehorned plot elements.
2nd game was psychological warfare...
Great music... this another one of those games I had that I have no idea where it came from or how I got it.
Great run as always :)
?!?!???!
Also... Hello.
@@tylersims6937 Howdy pardner
See, I'd speedrun this, but the soundtrack is too good.
As I concur myself on my other account.
Love the Cyndi Lauper chiptune.
One of the most amazing games for NES. Sadly i didn't know english when i was a child so i couldn't finish it.
How were you supposed to figure out anything in this game?
Play and try stuff. You learn eventually.
My first NES game!
This game was the funnest and hardest game I ever failed to beat, nice to see how it ends.
Good work Mikey
Love your videos... You are unique , keep up the good work.. I have one question.. is the stash real?
It's actually a caterpillar that he's trained to sit still on his face
Ouch! What do you do!
Sad to see my comment wasn’t original but happy that other people get humor and memories from that poorly translated line 😅
GG Arcus 💪🤠👍
BRO!!! You are a LEGEND!!! Do you take suggestions>? Do you do many RPGs?
I think it is funny that these old adventure games that were supposed to take weeks or months to beat almost all have world records that are less that 20 minutes long.
WTH, I never new there was goonies video games.
Aaaaaannndd Clunk! I've said that to one or two ladies. I know this is a family channel so I won't elaborate.
Gaz Ar heroic!
Damn that was a great run i've never beaten this game
Apparently, according to this game, had there ever been a Goonies 2, it would have been one hell of a ride.
Geçme yollarıni bilmediğim yıllardır map ta öylesine dolanıp canavarları öldürdüğümuz oyun
that was impressive. i thought i knew everything about this game but it seems i was wrong.
What's up with the clunk. What got him to saying that I wonder
It's when he steps on the button that marks the time
My dad favorite nes game, he was good
Cool video reminds me of Dr. Chaos
4:48....how did you open that door. I thought you needed the glasses to do that?
I love this and cast it to my TV when I WFH. Arcus, how come you jump when you take a death in a pit? Isn't it faster to just walk off the edge? If you jump then at the point of the edge you are higher and it takes a split second extra. Or am I wrong?
Of course. It took me eons to beat this game and Argus does it in under 20 minutes.

Great game!
Can you explain how to do the glitch at 4:49?
I noticed you do it again right after
I cant figure it out
I’d like to know that as well 🤔
How do you do the glitch at 4:48? Trying to find out online and nothing. Many thanks my friend and gg as always
Never got far at all in this game. Mazes in video games always threw me off and frustrated me; I grew bored of them quick.
@wulfgar3000 Brain fart/typo. I know the difference.
I did beat this as a kid, but mainly due to me having no life and a lot of free time. Think it took me an entire spring/summer to do it.
The original Goonies game was only on the Famicom and Nintendo Vs. arcade. It looks pretty similar, but Goonies II is like an enhanced version of the game.
Goonies 1 was released as a game, just in Japan, no American release.
When arcus will do a speedrun of the noid
Yes!! I am ready for that one myself! 🤞🏻

"Ooh! The screen stayed red for a long time; it scared me." -- Something never said by an average gamer.
What are you doing when you say "clunk"? Start button, button on the floor, computer space bar or just saying "clunk"?
He's marking a split on the timer. Could be spacebar, could be a click, could be anything.
what game came first this or TMNT cause this is identcal
lol I always thought the platforms looked like granola bars
good clunk
I never played this as a kid, but it reminds me of a mixture of TMNT and Friday the 13th

4:50 How did he open that door? Don't you need the glasses?
I never knew where to go, so I never did got far in this game.
What is a PB? What is PBN?
Fun Fact: They called this Goonies 2 because it is a sequel to the Japanese only release of Goonies for the Famicom.
I'm not sure how you can beat this game in 15 minutes. This game was crazy
Han satt o tolla samtidigt som han spelade😳
I went and found the guy who gave this video a thumbs down. I took his thumbs.

Always found it weird to get shot by blue guy when playing as a kid.
I wanna see a rad gravity speedrun please lol
What is updog?
Hey you guys!
Lol your sound effekts now i have seing maby 5 of your videos and in all of them good luck :D
I wonder if Cyndi Lauper got any Royalties on the Music
I remember it being a pseudo selling point that the song was actually licenced to be n the game, so -someone- got paid.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand clunk

As far as the route goes, why wouldn't you rescue "fire goonie" on the way to "water goonie 2"?
This game definitely looks like it would take hours if you didn’t know this game.
More like WEEKS...
There was no bosses in this game? That seems so odd
No bosses, orienting yourself around is enough as a challenge :D
I never even considered it. There were lots of types of games then, no expectation of bosses.
i could never figure this out at all lol
Among the most difficult games ever to beat. I don't know how people were able to beat this game without reading a cheat guide.
@Steve Fitz Yeah, but that's pretty much a cheat guide, like I was saying. I'm just saying I can't imagine a 7-11 year old kid beating this game without a guide.

Agreed. One of the most cryptic NES games. No average gamer in the 80s would have stood a chance.
