Ollantaytambo is considered as the only place that keep the streets and construction in the way that was at the time of the Incas. Enjoy, it is a wonderful place, my favorite in Cusco and you are quite close to Machupiccu though.

@@alfonsoalfonso9332 Wow! Thank you for that! Another strong reason (not that I needed another one) to go and visit Perú! I will enjoy, for sure, exploring your country as soon as this will be possible!
Hi. The word Ollantaytambo, is really made up of two words, Ollantay (One who sees all) and Tambo (Inn, or lodge). Cuzco is mostly Quechua, according to a Peruvian census, the language learnt first by most of the residents was Quechua (51.40%), followed by Peruvian Castellano, Spanish (46.86%). The word Ollantaytambo, however is supposed to be from another Peruvian language called Aymara, which it is mostly spoken in the Puno region of Peru. Ollantay is also the name of a Quechua Peruvian play, a good story. Well done videos!
I've been looking all over the West Coast of South America, and it seems to me there's a phonetic "code" in their place names, and in the Quechua language. There's a mix of English, French and Spanish. As best I can guess, based on the phonetic theory, Aymara were basically a secret society of navigators. "Aye, ma ra" = "Yes, I'm a son of Ra" or "I, my matrilineal bloodline is Ra" - and also "We go to sea". Olla = pot. Ollan = the verb "making pots/filling pots" - Ollan-té "you make/fill pots"" - Tambo = Temps beau = good times. Ollan-té-temps-beau = "Make/fill pots in good times" - There is also another place close by that is called "Tambomachay" - Temps beau make hay - Make hay while the sun shines. Go look at the ruins of Kanamarka in Peru, and then look at some ruins in Scandinavia and Ireland. If you didn't know they were on opposite sides of the world, it would be hard to tell they weren't built by the same culture. There are legends of a culture of blonde people in the Andes. Is it a coincidence that the Spanish words "olla" and "joya" are pronounced basically the same way, and one means "pot" and the other means "jewel"? As in - if you made pots in good times, you'll be well in bad times. Even if I'm totally wrong, these mysteries are fascinating to ponder.

"ñaupa" means ancient...ancestral in quechua (pronounce it "niaupa") What I didnt understand is why werent you guys allowed to stay more than 5 mins at the huaca....who said that to you? And Ollantaytambo means Tambo of Ollanta. Ollanta was a captain of the Inka Pachakuti and a Tambo is a place where a traveller can obtain shelter, food, water, rest, etc, while travelling. ....wow...the room at the Apu Lodge is fabulous...what a view! Hey...I wanted to see some food in Ollanta...you just passed by a sign that said $5 sopa de pollo criolla...I would have gone for that after the ruins. Dont forget Choquequirao

Hey! You are drinking coffe from ouur mugs ( Ceramicas Seminario ) you miss our shop in Urubamba
AMAZING! I was there!
I am getting to know Peru through your videos...So interesting all those ancient places that I read about in school. Ollantaytambo is cute. Thank you! Are you keeping track of all the times that you are being requested to leave the area? It would be funny to see a video of just all your exodus moments. :D
You are 30 kilometers away from Machu Picchu, is the trek you are going to do the Inca Trail? We are trekkers and we will enjoy watching these videos a lot.
Love mi 🇵🇪
Good job guys... We admire your curiosity .....there ir legends... That say... : exists. Special mOuntains .. With soul .. That you need pay to enter or escale..... A pay with wine coca... If you dont do that ... U should desapear...or fall crazy
When I went with my mexican friend. She had problems to say Ollantaytambo.
Usually the plaza de armas has a lot of tourist. Now it`s empty..
Do you see any tourist there?? Saludos

In Ollantaytambo, look for Heart's Cafe... very good food....Heart Salad
What are the modern structures you zoomed in on at 1:23 on the vertical cliff?
Amazing place
Edux yes it is . We went on a bus tour but they only let you linger around for 15 min. We just ha a glimpse. Would have love to stay at least a week.
My verdict ,don’t go on a bus tour. Travel there and stay awhile.👍
wow ! nice vid mate
Cool🧚🏽
Dont forget to visit Ollantaytambo ruins .sun temple is near ollantaytambo square¡¡
So what were those white things attached to the sheer cliffs that you showed during the intro?
It's a hotel.
@@chinalamas - Hmmm... Do they have valet parking?

If it was a portal where would you like to go? The town would make a great maze at night. Very nice.
Alex and Lindsey, do you know where that rail heads to? There seems to be no train service just closed because of the pandemic, right?
:) the ruins on the right on your video at around 12:00 minutes are accessible via regular street access (at the time I was there 2 years ago)
Nice! We didn’t make it there.
The entrance to those ruins was a door right on the street where you stayed. It is a great free hike to the granaries. Sorry you missed it.
3:14 AMAZING AND HIDDEN SITES, I NEVER VIEW THAT, INCLUDED FOR PERUVIANS
Agree, I am from Cusco and I think nobody from my family know that interesting hidden place.Taking about the first place that you were only 5 minutes.
Great video, new sub here! Im curious, why did they kick you out? Were they stationed there making sure no one stayed or were they your tour guides, did they come with you? Im wondering if you go alone if there will be people there to kick you out
Lindsey and Alex, , don't leave cuzco, without visiting the town of andahuaylillas and other towns around, this little but beautiful church, was declared by Pope John Paul II, the sixtine chapel of the Americas, when He personally paid a visit years ago, greetings from ny....
The idea of a door shaped like "an upside-down" triangle is hilarious, like "the front part of an egg." Neither triangle nor egg can be described as having a particular orientation!
Hello guys 🇵🇪🇵🇪🇵🇪!!! what an amazing video . you guys have done a GREAT JOB showing my country to the world . you should work for National Geografic or something for real. you would be good Peruvian Ambassadors .
GOOD LUCK AND BE CAREFUL 🇵🇪🇺🇸!!!
I love the cup!! are for sale? am in NY
Only 5 minutes for the pandemic
Lindsey has two hats on because she believes one hat is not enough for the sunlights. 😂
Lol that and not enough hands to carry everything 😊
@@lindseyfw2903 Lol... now your thinking like a Peruvian! lol
2 hats is a new hair straightener treatment 😁
Ollantaytambo was a defense fortress.
I heard there is a waterfall around there, maybe you guys can go.
