I use the f14 as a support roll, i wait for people to go I to the cluster and pick off enemies that are on my guys. Also people expect you to be in full after burner in your turns or trying to get away, another thing you can do is use air brake flare and let them fly by the f16 guys and mig 29 guys will be harder to put maneuver if they know what they are doing. Anybody else is pretty easy especially mig23’s and the f4s. But all in all this is a very good and informative video.
With the f14A i found that focusing on BVR for the first 5 min of the match and only coming into the fray after the first round of kills was the best way of "staying alive". 2 or 3 pheonixes, focusing on using them in the best situation possible, then regroup with team and go aggressive. You are a much better player so you know better most likely.
Whatever is most fun for you though is extremely important. Cause at the end of the day you could be getting 3-4 kills a match but have no fun or have 1-2 kills and having alot of fun
I'm pretty sure you can't go ham with navy Phantoms either, but staying safe-ish, slinging those Sparrows when keeping speed up works best. 3:03 - thats how CW seekers in SARH missiles work in this game. In short - seeker looks for moving targets with doppler receiver. Chaff rapidly deaccelerates after being ejected. Radars don't have pinpoint beam, but purposefully somewhat wide cone precisely to capitalize on missile seekers being somewhat chaff resistant. Thus as long as you keep that lock on chaff, odds are, missile is going to find its mark.
I get your comment but im mentioning even after you notch the chaff still doesnt do anything. Chaff is completely useless the only good method of dodging is to stay low.
@@MrUniversTV Because better SARH missiles have counter-countermeasures, just like IR missiles get increasingly better flare resistance. Chaff still works, but its not one-click-missile-goes-funny at top ranks like it is around BR 10.0, where Pulse seekers are common When IRCM becomes widespread, you'd probably moan A LOT until IR missiles designed to combat these come around.
I strongly disagree with the play style hear. I believe the F-14 is actually the most lethal and high kill potential aircraft in the game. 1 or 2 good tomcat pilots can easily clear the high altitude with an overwhelming payload of phoenixes and sparrows. The increases power and efficiency along with lower temp engines, make it seem less to cruise along the thin air at far beyond mach while simultaneously conserving far more fuel. This play style also maximizes your situational awareness as you secure a top down view of the lobby and therefore never get caught off guard if you’re decent. So long as you know how to notch constantly. You can easily decoy the enemies limited payload of fox-1 missiles with generous use of chaff and flares. This method also maximizes the range and effectiveness of you sparrows and allows for free easy too down shots with the incredible AIM-9L on unsuspecting targets on the deck. I promise you, if you stick to this strict heavy fighter air superiority play style you will see that not on will you gain better game sense and situational awareness but also become a much less vulnerable target. This also increases lethality and overall influence and control over the outcome of the match. Think of it like sticking to a struck boom and zooming role in the P-51 mustang, but at top tier instead. I have used this method for a couple weekends and have easily sustained and is currently increasing 3.7 K/D ratio. Ive achieved the aces crew in it through research alone no GE. I believe that if you are confident in your ability to defend fox-1 or 3 missiles you will find that flying high altitude is easily and advantage in almost every single way. And nothing currently does it better than the Tomcat B. Here me out!
Good and detailed comment. But this will never be truly effective. We had 3 top 10 players squaded and destroying lobbies but we still couldn’t make it work at all. You never will have air superiority at altitude because the minute a mig 29 comes up you are screwed, your phoenix missiles are awful and extremely easy to dodge at altitude and at sea level. Going to altitude is a death sentence and chaff is scuffed right now and even after notching the radar missile can still track lmfao. We are sitting at above 7+KD with our method and above 80% WR. But hey to each there own. Whatever you enjoy most is what you should play!
@@MrUniversTVdamn i guess I got schooled. Fair enough, to me high altitude just feels much faster pace and dominant but I guess I don’t know what it’s like to maintain a 7 kd.
Ur right 100%. Imagine playing f14 and not using phoenixes lmao. F14b is the best jet top tier US tree by far because of its bvr capabilities and overall borderline op loadout for its br.
This will be nice when I unlock the f-14b as I play a combination of the 2 play styles. I just play passively with the 2 missile until there are used up, then if the furball is still there, I will help my teammates getting attacked and turn around using the energy retention. I still need to get 2 lineups grinder in order for me to unlock tier 8 and I am annoyed by the sale as I was planning on purchasing a rank 7 premium so I would grind less
Alot of good advice in this video. But a lot of bad advice too. I've been playing with the F14B in furballs so many times, and its actually not as bad as you end up saying it is, with the wings out moving slowly, the F14B turns like a goddamn UFO and you can easily go into a low speed dogfight and win because of how insanely good the turning rate is while the wings are out. I absolutely love the F14B, and prefer it over the F16 which can have a lot of problems when it comes to slow dogfights as planes like the F16 and MiG 29 turn better when they are going faster.
@@MrUniversTV well thank for all the things u have done. Very much thanks from the owner of MainGames. (we are not a popular server but yeah thanks alot for all the content)
This has helped me a lot, I usually played aggressively and got about 3-5 kills but then I either stall out trying to dodge a sarh or I try doing some cool aoa but then the enemy crashes into me or I rip my wings off. @@MrUniversTV 😅after launching the 4 fridges at the start, you end up with 1-2 kills usually, even 4 if you picked the right guys to shoot at. not going to lie but it very good in Ground RB as CAS role I'm having very good time there but when i jump into Air RB with F-14B I really don't know what to do.
I think you exactly right, funny enough its the opposite situation for me i actually do better with f14 than mig29 close fighting. My biggest problem is flying low to the ground my hands are not steady lol.
A little late but something about the way this is described has been bothering me. I've always thought that if you get into a situation where you need to dodge multiple enemies than you are simply doing it wrong. Like people who try to Dogfight in P51s. I don't know if it's fair to call the F14B bad because you can't dogfight Mig 29s. Lets be real, the average player can't dogfight in either the Mig29 or F16 correctly and I'd bet most of their deaths come because they don't have the situational awareness take advantage of it. DEFYN does a great job explaining how that works. I'd wager the majority of the player base SHOULD fly more passively and look for opportunities to pick off people. Having an aggressive player only works if they aren't dog water while a passive player should almost always come away with a few kills just because radar missiles are pretty easy to use. Tldr: There is a difference between being aggressive and being reckless. The majority of players are reckless, but a skilled player is measured in their approach. It sounds like the F14B requires the player to be more measured while using their radar munitions in an aggressive manner. Thoughts?
The thing is, that the Mig29 and F-16 can be reckless and aggressive because they are smaller aircraft and more agile. The f-14 is not. I'm more of an aggressive player myself and so are most of the people i play with. So while the common knowledge is to play safe and passive its not always the best option for certain jets. Like imagine a passive Mig29, it makes no sense. Yes you could get 2 possible kills with the er's but then what back to base? no. The f-14 is essentially the same way. More of a support role while still being there and active. but thats all in all why i explained its not as good the mig 29 and f-16 because it cant be agro on anything as it risks being shot down due to its huge airframe. "I'd wager the majority of the player base SHOULD fly more passively and look for opportunities to pick off people." I would love this tbh because it means an easier time for killing people and climbing the leaderboards. No aggression on a team = Loss
