    /* ---- VIDEO INFORMATION ---- */
Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down Fallout.
    -
The series reveals something big at the end and throughout this video I wanna break down the clues. So come with me surfies, Heavy spoilers ahead and if you don't want it ruined then vault out the video. Please drop a thumbs up if you enjoy it and also drop any clues below that you think we might have missed. With that out the way, thank you for clicking this, now let's get into Fallout!
    -
Ok so let's get into it by breaking the vault open and revealing all the clues that said Vault Tec dropped the nukes.
The episodes contain some subtle set and production design choices as well as callbacks and parallels that give away the clues. We went back through and rewatched the series and there's also a handful of lines of dialogue that play in entirely different ways once you know the twist.
Our first comes in the form of balloons at the party, which are all Vault-Tec colors. While, initially, it looks like it could just be for Cooper’s colors, we are made aware of the connection between them and Vault Tec pretty quickly.
This implies that they have a big brother role and are laced throughout a lot of aspects of society.
The Vault-Tec colors are all over this party, from the balloons, to the cake, to the home’s decor. Tt just sets the tone for this series as one where the lines between capitalism and humanity are incredibly tangled.
Later in the scene, when he’s asked to do the thumbs-up, he doesn’t make eye contact with Bob and looks down.

When hank said "I think I know who you are" it has a double meaning. He went and got his kids back from their mom at sandy shores before nuking it. Also, being as vault tech bought the company she was working on cold fusion at, he would likely recognize her from then

      RobCo. did it.
I may have cracked one of Fallout's biggest mysteries.

I think, despite the consensus up to this point being that Vault-Tec dropped the bombs, that we will come to discover that RobCo. was the one who actually caused (and benefitted the most) from the Great War.
In light of comments made by Tim Cain re: Vault-Tec presumably dropping the bombs, I started thinking about how it wouldn't make sense (in the Prime series at least) for Vault-Tec to be the ultimate perpetrators of the Great War. People have pointed out that it would be pretty inhumane for Barb to have dropped the bombs while her daughter was out and about. And I don't think that she did. I think that the intention of Vault-Tec (and Barb) was to drop one bomb, to scare everyone into the shelters. But I think RobCo. managed to infiltrate Vault-Tec and dropped the bombs. Or perhaps RobCo worked with West Tek in building their own arsenal.
Mr. House was the most interested in *how* Vault-Tec was going to "guarantee results." Mr. House knew (or believed) that Vegas was protected from the nukes, securing his empire. Mr. House has a contingency plan for his survival. Mr. House has the most to gain and the least to lose from the nuking. *And* this neatly ties in with Hank McClean's story.
How did Hank get a nuke to drop on Shady Sands? Who did Hank go to at the end of Season 1? How did Hank get the job conveniently close to Vault-Tec's upper echelon, conveniently close to the time the bombs were going to drop? The answer to all is the same: RobCo.

I'll give the show credit as I watched it all, when the I couldn't get into the games.
However the time it took to tell the story it did seem a bit stretched out to me. I also found its finale to be no more exciting than any other episode. I'm not enticed enough to get excited about another season either.

I find it funny that she was head of their marketing department yet everything vault tec was inspired by was based on her and her husband. The blue and gold jump suits, the thumbs up, and the slongan "War Never Changes". Which it makes sense that Vault Tecs share holders would be brain washed by their own propaganda. Which would coin the phrase for every executive saying "War Never Changes". They are simply brain washed by the propaganda and marketing they created.

I think its pretty cool that she was pretty much head of marketing. She got her husband as the spokeperson of vault tech so you can pretty much say she is responsible for the blue and gold suites and the thumbs up that inspired vault boy . Then the cherry on top. She being responsible for marketing is the first person to pitch the line "War Never Changes". That was the cherry on top. It makes sense that most of vault tecs share holders were inspired by their marketing. Simply to cloud their own judgement.

Theory time: Coop was the one who wanted the divorce, but Barb still loved him. She knew that despite his misgivings he would bring their daughter to her vault but not enter it himself. So before launching the bombs Barb exposed Coop to FEV to ensure he became a ghoul and that the medicine that keeps him from going feral is a modified version of FEV.

Now I chalked this up to them being small enough to not be visible from the distance from impact that the party was, but it was implied that Vault Tec might have done it, I now think it's equally possibly that it could be because they were never dropped but planted.

For 10 years I've been saying that Vault-Tec was involved in the use of nuclear bombs.
They had to have known the date years in advance.
    How?
Every vault completed on time was completed before the bombs fell.
Every uncompleted vault was delayed. No on-time vaults were only partially completed.
So if someone came up with a vault idea in August, it would have been rejected as a waste of resources, because Vault-Tec knew the dates the bombs would be falling.
I have challenged anyone to come up with a single vault that was not complete which didn't have a story of delays. So far nobody could name one. But I'm happy for anyone to prove me wrong.
The only way this could have happened is if Vault-Tec had some knowledge of the bomb's date, months or years in advance.
And the only way that would happen is if Vault-Tec was playing both sides. So, just like Wal-Mart is HQ'd in the US and "big" in China, Vault-Tec was in both.
Vault-Tec is an international company. They have a "national" HQ in the US, but no "world" HQ in the US. PRobably no "world" HQ anywhere, because like most multi-nationals they HQ in Bahamas and have a world HQ on paper in Ireland, for a double irish dutch sandwich (a tax avoidance scheme).
And the large makers of devices seen all over fallout have names like GAI (General Atomics INTERNATIONAL), also implying a global presence.
Different embargo rules, more countries willing to bypass embargos, or other things would allow the Fallout world to be more "global" than we are now. Today, large companies like Apple and others have large facilities in China. It wouldn't be that big of a stretch to think that enough economic activity would link the US and China, even when they are at "war". The American Flags in patriotic Wal-Mart are made in China, so why can't my GAI Mr. Handy be made in China? With QA failures being sold locally in China? That happens now. So China could have Vaults, Power Armor (from units captured in Anchorage), GAI robots, and lots of other "American" influences.
And China could have been steered by these large corps for the good of the corps.
So the corps were in a position to know when the resource wars were coming, and steered the "demand" for specific resources to lean towards places which caused conflict, and have local places from which to spy and influence, on both sides.
It just works best when Vault-Tec and others were playing both sides.

I think Chet killed the imprisioned raiders, in this scenario Steph would have talked him into doing it after Norm showed no signs of interest in following through. Of course I believe Steph was directed by Betty to get it done in exchange for appointing her as overseer in Vault 32.
I also believe that the Ghoul's wife is in Vault 31 and that his daughter is sadly dead. I have an idea that maybe Coop got her to the Vault Tek building and was betrayed by either his wife or Bud, that would mean the daughter is also alive as I would assume they would have a way to get her to Vault 31 underground from the main building (for the daughter surviving it needs to be that way though because otherwise Coop would know where they are).
My biggest reach theory is that Thaddius is going to show back up when he's a bit more ghoulified and conveniently remember reading something about VATS while back at the Brotherhood and teach Lucy how to use it.
Finally, I think Muldaver isn't dead, at least part of her wont be dead the next time we see her. She was gut shot, so it's possible she survived and was just passed out and not dead. It would be in the Brotherhoods interest to keep her alive because of her knowledge of the cold fusion device, and if the wound is mortal there are a couple ways they could preserve her brain. Either as a robobrain or in a computer.

As a fan of the games, I have to point out that while Vault-Tec was sketchy, and obviously willing to do whatever was needed to ensure they fulfilled their "fiduciary responsibility", it was China who started the Great War. Vault-Tec definitely had connections in the government, and there are lots of clues that Vault-Tec employees knew something was going to happen, but China beat them to the punch unexpectedly. It's also important to know that "the Enclave" were actually people from the US government bureaucracy who did the same kind of thing that Vault-Tec did (making sure their highest people were protected and could survive). I think the show is setting the Enclave against Vault-Tec, which I'm sure will become more obvious in seasons moving forward. It's been super fun to see how the show supports the games' canon while pushing deeper into the lore and uncovering new information.

@@vkdeen7570 I think Cooper's humanity hasn't faded. He proved it right there in that scene. He shot Rodger in the head without warning, letting his last thoughts be happy ones. Those of us watching the show can see it, because we're familiar with the idea of mercy killing. Lucy can't see it, because she simply has no idea of it. (But Lucy learns.)
One thing that sharp-eyed viewers have noticed is that Cooper still wears his Sheriff shirt underneath his outer garments. They've interpreted this to mean that his original nature is still down there somewhere.
My own interpretation is that he still has the same humanity, but he's purposefully hiding it. He's an actor. He knows how to pretend to be something he's not, when he has to. And he has to. He pretended to be after "the artifact" when he was really after Hank.
And then he makes it seem, to Hank, that he's after his family. Another deception, I think. If Vault-Tec thinks he's just a dad looking out for his family, they won't realize what he's really after and what sort of threat he really is.
After Hank leaves, Cooper doesn't mention his family at all, to Lucy. Instead, he talks about how there's someone else pulling the strings, and he's going after that one - the head of Vault-Tec. Cooper realizes that Vault-Tec is a voracious feral ghoul that needs a shot in the head. I think that's his true goal, and he could use Lucy's help.
I recall that Cooper said at some point ... "Everyone wants to save the world, they just disagree on how." He says it dismissively enough that you think he's just cynical all around, but ... he didn't explicitly exclude himself. I think he's got a very specific idea of how to try to save the world, but he keeps his secret plan to himself ... until Lucy. By episode 8 he knows Lucy is unusually capable, despite her inexperience. And he walks in to see she's pulled a gun to her father's face. So he knows Lucy has found out the truth, and she's got the right sense of morality. Family always comes first? Nope. Lucy gets it. She just needs to know ... there's someone even worse higher up than Hank.
So I don't think Cooper has lost his humanity. And I think he isn't worried about Lucy losing her humanity, because he sees himself in her.

I don't want to comb the comments so if this has been said just deal with the repeat. Moldaver was not a fan of Vault Tec because she worked for a company that was bought up by Vault Tec... said company had her making that cold fusion thing that was activated at the end of the season. She wanted to get it back out of their hands (she says because she created it to help humanity) so she used the folks that weren't happy pre and post bomb drops as pawns for her goals. Also, if you paid attention to the dialog at the birthday party they call Cooper a commie traitor. This indicates that he was caught spying and caught as a member of that Hollywood group Moldaver was leading causing him to be blackballed from his career. This would have caused his wife to divorce him because if she hadn't she would have also been labeled as such by Vault Tec as well. Coopers reaction to Hank makes me think that Hank was the one to blow the whistle on him. There was so much going on in the first season! I am looking forward to the next one.

So here's the thing... I don't think they did. I think they were planning to, but, I don't think they were successful, hence the unfinished vaults in fallout 4, and the fact Janie wasn't already with her mother. I'm actually wondering if, A, the Chinese found out about FEV, which was against the rules of war and a good reason to launch first, or, my other thought... the Enclave did it. And my reason for this is the Enclave actually started Vault tec, and then the company grew out of their control. Because of this, they probably knew vault tec's plan, and realized they were being betrayed, and realized the only way to beat them was make sure the war happened before vault tec was ready. So, they pulled out of the country literally days before it happens, so, they were fully ready, and, then conveniently, they were right, and the war happened, and the enclave seemed to be the only organization that was relatively unbothered by the war happening. In fact, they proceed to go around finishing off anyone that isn't them, almost like they're finishing the job per say, while also going around and collecting data from the vaults, and continuing to experiment in this world without rules. So.. yeah. I think vault tech planned to, but I think the Enclave knew what was up and did it specifically to throw a wrench in vault tech's plan and secure the future for themselves instead.

I think the vault and factions mentioned in the bigt meeting all represent the different evolutions of BoS, Vault Tec, etc. And where was Betty? The Brain-on-a-roomba is trapped in such a way I doubt it was an accident.

"Vault Tec were prepared to drop the Nukes" is not the same as "Vault tech dropped the Nukes"

@2:24 I had assumed it was a Silo reference. Similar premise to the vaults, but they have to send people out to clean the camera that is a live feed to a large tv in the mess hall. It is the only view of the world outside. They put people in suits with VR headsets when they go, it is a one way trip because the environment is so destroyed and toxic (like a reddit topic HEY-OH!). The vr headset makes the outside world look beautiful and full of life. The ones exiled think that the outside world is fine and proceed to take off their protective gear. They die shortly after seeing the real world as ugly and destroyed.

I love how people are just surviving nuclear holocaust left and right in this world meanwhile, anybody who was in contact with the radiation at Chernobyl their faces fell off and they died
