I noticed they discontinued the 9000 winch. Probably figured out it was the sweet spot for car trailers so now they stick it to us to spend more and go up to the 12000
today 9 1 2024 i bought the same box . and the 9000 winch my trailer is a 6inch frame today dad and i trying to raise to box then we want to hook to the truck with i call them fork lift battery connectors. been dreaming about the project for a min. hf had the box on sale this weekend . the tongue then 6inched on top of that then the bump stop rail 12inch raised . i building the frame now . will send pics later. if i put the battery in then hook it to the truck that would work to charge the battery if i used a different truck battery would power the winch. i think.
I've never seen a winch that wound in from the bottom of the spool instead of over the top that just don't look right I have three winches and they all run off the top of the spool when winding in not off the bottom maybe it was round round from the factory or is that the way it's supposed to be I don't buy from Harbor Freight bad experiences in the past with their stuff but I think I'm going to call him and just out of curiosity to see if it's supposed to wind off the bottom if so that's a new one on me thanks for the video
I have never seen one that winds from the top. All mine wind from bottom. I think the key is what is in line with the fair lead. I also verified my Warn winch and it winds in from bottom. I would unspool yours and check what the drum says to confirm yours is correct. It should have an indication on the drum.
This is exactly the video I needed thank you.
A+ job almost exactly like mine. I had a smaller winch and I got one this size I had to do a lot of cutting to get that thing to fit😅 excellent job
@@georgenettlesjr1466 thanks
cool project. you did a really nice job. I hope it turns out this nice when I do it
Thanks for the compliment. It has worked out great and keeps the winch looking like new. Good luck with your project!
@@swalesutube the dove tail have you pulled a low car onto the trailer does the cable drag for a minute on the back frame and the hook hangs?
@jrneff9773 it probably would. I thought about welding a small pipe where dovetail starts so wire would run on it. Maybe setup so pipe could spin.

@@KevinModz65 I see they have a 9500lb on their website… for $299
My local HF has 9500 lb. in the store.
Amazing job

Most winches wind from the bottom. www.google.com/search?q=prioer%20winch%20winding%20top%20or%20bottom&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1-m
It says right on the top of the winch that's how it's supposed to wind in inflammation Mark every winch I've ever had has went that way
Almost common sense you can look at the winch until it doesn't wind in from the top! If that was the case the Pharaoh would be way up top😂
My old Warn and Ramsey wind from the bottom.
