- In this video I get my Warn VR EVO 8000 winch mounted to the trailer and research and figure out a way to power it WITHOUT an additional battery!! Pretty slick. Hope you enjoy the video.
Hey JD. Brother, you've done it again! First of all another GREAT video! Your content, editing, information and just overall value that we get out of your videos is just second to none. It's nice to see that anytime you come across an "issue" with anything that you are working on, you always find a solution that is 100 times better than the original concept that you had in mind. You find solutions/ideas that, speaking for myself, but I'm sure many others as well, would never have thought of. Also, thank you for always giving the information on where you buy your products, part numbers, cost and how well the company does as far as pricing, customer service and overall satisfaction regarding your experience with them. I always know that hearing your experience and seeing the product from unboxing to final installation, gives me the confidence to go with a company and a product, without having to do all the research or "take a chance" with someone or something that I really don't know anything about.
I’m about to put a winch on my Big Tex 18’ 70CH, this is the exact video I was looking for. Thank you!
Nicely done sir! Really appreciate you taking the time to show and upload this video. The quick disconnect cables is a really good idea, does give a fella an option run power directly from the tow vehicle's battery, and you saved money to boot!
Thanks for the video! Gave me some excellent ideas for my trailer. I'm doing pretty much the same setup except I added a 2" receiver to the front of my trailer and mounted the winch to a hitch-mounted bracket so I can move it around for different uses.
Very nicely done!

Im getting ready to put a winch on my car haulin trailer i like your way you done it so im following the way you done it on mine and thanks for giving the links
Time to add an LED strip of lights on either side of the winch, looks good and clean install.
Big wheel studs and locking lug nuts do a great job and keep people from stealing your winch. Just use a dremmel to square off the rounded holes on the backside (underneath) so they will recess and lock in.
I have the 18ft version of that trailer. What toolbox are you using? Looks like it fits perfect without interfering with the jack handle.
“I’ve been studying medieval wenches”. You don’t say? 😆
Is the winch / mounting plate attached to the trailer frame or just the wood decking?
Hello. Do you have 2 batteries in your truck? What connection did you use for positive cable?
That's a good power set-up, only problem is the winch is useless if you haul the trailer with any other truck.
Are all the bolts for the winch / mounting plate just in the wood or are some in the frame?
Did you put a metal plate in the bottom of the wood so the but don’t go inside the wood when you tight everything?
Can you connect to the 7 pin connector for power to winch? It's 12v source
dint ur truck come with up fitter switchs in the cab, like superduties
cool! do the cables get any hot?
How’s the paint holding up do you plan on repainting it since winter coming soon? I plan on painting mines before it snows
