Even though the shear force on those grade 8 bolts is sufficient, I would recommend doing a minimum of 3 bolts. If one fails due to some unforseen circumstance, you want two backups.

I would use some red lock tight on the bolts and a receiver pin that locks as a deterrent for the thieves. I could cut the wires, pull the pin and be down the road in 30 seconds, otherwise a very clean install.

Sir, the camera movement made my head hurt but when you held steady, there was no more visual pain. Viewers told me that if I'm going to move the camaera around with quick movements, ensure the camera lens is NOT in the ZOOM magnification; just take it out of ZOOM mode and then move the camera around, then the negative visual affect is less significant. Sorry for the camera critique but wanted you to learn what viewers taught me. I enjoyed your entire removable winch build. Your winch set-up and fabrication looks great. I hope your trip to SC for a vehicle was successful and hope you didn't have to travel too far hauling your vehicle(s). I experienced SC highways and the roads were a bit uncomfortable. Thanks again for the great removable winch build/share. 👍🏽🤠 06/08/24

I did about the same thing , but mounted mine so the winch was all the way off the front of the trailer. I only have an eighteen foot trailer , so I need all the room. I also used Anderson quick disconnects on my jumper cables running forward to my trucks battery. Works well , good job on your set up too.

honestly good job man.! id personally use more than 2 bolts though to hold my receiver on for the winch. 4 at the least and 6 to be safe.!

I'd have moved the winch up towards the ball and leave it mounted all the time. Weld a cross member and bolt winch to it. Can add a roller to trailer to keep cable from dragging.

I make these set ups for my trailers. So my advice to you is you did everything correct except the winch should be inserted into the receiver not from the trailer surface side but the other side so the winch is "floating" in the air in front of your trailer surface. Sometimes every inch of trailer space is needed. Now if needed you can remove the winch while the cars are on the trailer.

I really like this idea! When it’s time to upgrade the winch on my trailer (currently a hand crank winch) I may do something similar.

3/8 inch c channeling will house mount/legs if u weld at front corner vertical if u can understand then u can remove the winch assembly and keep the housing.

My winch works on the hitch I put on the front of my truck it also fits in the rear hitch in back and also on my trailer pull a pin and move it were it will work the best, use the quick disconnects, and when Im done I lock it up in my tool box out of the weather till its needed again.

Only thing i wander is if you've winched the first car on their forward enough that you have to remove it then are you going to winch the second one on their? Maybe put you 2 holes halfway down the trailer so the winch can be moved to behind the first car to then load the second or mount another hitch receiver in the middle but i worry about lowered cars

    I don’t think I’d mount a 12k winch with 2 bolts.

I use a HF Dual Hitch Extender P/N 69881 to mount my HF APEX 12,000lb or a smaller HF 2500lb winch into the upper 2" receiver location. I don't have the trailer jack center as on your trailer, which would interfere with this straight line installation.
