Fresh start after release is my vote. With one condition: these bugs don't take too much of your time... if they do: restart and hope that later updates will support saves
I agree Fresh start. Try a big city such as LA, NYC, Chicago or Houston. That should be interesting. Or even a place over in maybe the UK that has Castles, of hey, maybe do one in Kissemee (sp?) Florida where Disney World is and see if the Disney Castle can be the headquarters!

I would actually like to see you for restart but same location but I was wondering if you can also make a a place for like Las Vegas DC you know something major like if it ever happened like after the fall and stuff so I was just wondering if that could be also a thing as well besides having your home town of course I was just wondering if it would be a thing in a doable thing I will be playing as well

@@Diesal3 Much better would be starting on an island, if UK isle of dogs (in london) or venice, where they have a island in the middle and walls already for you.
I like the castle idea but that be a rough start for most unless you are going with "newer" castles such as Windsor.
I would like to see a new start after official release to be honest and hope they have all the issues fixed

Fresh Start, use what you learned in this test and apply to new build with less bugs - Have watched many diff playthroughs and yours was the most engaging so we'll take what we can get either way!

I think this deserves a restart and a proper launch for it. I have really enjoyed the game and I think that the one building that still has the exclamation point over it broke the game cuz it seems story is locked not sure but my guess. Enjoy ur day and stay safe Char.
Yep there was a timer for preparing for the army and it either disappeared or it timed out and nothing happened for days, missions are probably bugged to a halt now besides new groups joining
Role play: The colony has exhausted the current resources/location, time to close shop and resettle, using acquired knowledge to better manage resources.
IRL: Restart, you've come to a point where the accumulated bugs plus the changes to the game make the current playthrough less comparable to what players will experience when the game is released.

New start. New exciting location. See what the patch has changed. Maybe a poll of a few good locations?
I like this idea
There ought to be power generation, diesel generators, car battery backup, solar etc. Maybe early on you could repurpose vehicles to be running and tethered to a building. Also water needs, rain capture, water butts, guttering adaptations, treatment works, crop irrigation and water towers. Farm land conversion should be faster on green land too.
I think continue for now as you'll get an idea for how long you could survive. That way you can judge whether learnings from this series improves survivability in series two.
P.S. the southern gate has always been bricked over which was quite funny.
This game has some cool ideas, but the version you have been playing give the impression that it is a frustrating experience to play because of all the bugs. I want to know the game is better polished before trying it myself. So for me, I'd like to see a restart with the latest patch
A greenhouse does not necessarily require electricity, in principle burning fuel, that is already present in the game, is sufficient, this provides heat and CO2. Electricity would have the only bonus that you also have light at night in which the plants can grow.
The solo 'squad' was due to you splitting that member off to take the truck at the start of the episode, and I'm wondering if the 'replenish' issue is just a bug when trying to replenish a squad you had previously split as the others seemed to work okay.
Regarding the patch, I'd support either option you choose, obviously I'd like to see you continue this save but it seems the bugs and issues can make it a bit of a pain for you, but in the same way would it be even more of an effort on your behalf to re-do a save game to get to this point which might be a bit draining on your motivation although playing through again with added 'lessons learned' could also be very interesting. Love the series so far and will watch either way
I ask myself how far will they go.
Water would be a nice addition, Heating, Electricity to make some buildings run but also that you can tradoff hapiness for working hours if needed.
Foodvariety for hapiness.
Start new mate! You had super good engagement on this series, so starting a new series will only bring more people in. And you’ll be better at the game too based on this run. Win-win imo

I say new start. You will be able to fix your cars in the new save. Less bugs (hopefully) and I believe the balance about food is to make things easier as some people have half their colony or more producing food only to still be on the brink of starvation.
Plus there is always a chance this current run comes to a crashing end due to a bug or corrupt save. Rather end it on our terms than due to a program issue.
I vote restart, but focus on research - ammo and food production
if showing game and how to play it than starting over seems best option
Definitely start fresh.. will allow you and us lol to see what they fixed with the game and also learn from mistakes that were made in the first play through.
I would like you to start fresh. I would like to know what I'm buying. But I'll watch either way.
One thing I've noticed is that you aren't loading your squads up with extra ammunition. I assume you can do this, but you may not have noticed. Each squad has 4 resource slots where (I think) you can pack them with extra ammo. I've noticed when the big night raids happen that your squads are quickly running out of ammo. I think if you loaded each squad up with extra ammo at the home base before heading out that you wouldn't have this problem.
If you don’t notice by the end of this video… there isn’t any extra ammo to load them with anyways - but I get ya
Personally I would probably put a single person in the vehicles you plan to use to kite them and then you can have more people on the ground inside the walls shooting at them as you lead them around. As for the new patch, I would vote for a new start in a new location with the patch. Hopefully you would not be in the situation where you had two years of winter with no growing season.

Start over and do you know you can give your squad more ammo in the squad resources during the night so they can reload during a fight
A restart would be good! Also would be a bit refreshing to see a new environment and good for you because you have the knowledge from your last play-through and can apply it better ( even though you knew what you were doing already)

i really like to see a fresh start to see if maybe they fixed the cooked houses cause food is a big deal at the end of day.
I guess we’ll see. I don’t see anything in the changelog about it, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t solved by some other fix.
So with the bow and arrows if you have three towers with bow and arrows, apparently that is the same as having one with pistols (dmg wise).
But it's a fallacy really as that means you have 6 people and all those resources to build the towers initially (and for upkeep) as a cost.
However, this would make it more "relaxing" as you just can distract with the cars whilst the towers do the work.
33:30 I'd imagine someone will be of that profession who survived down under with everyone. And other professions as well.
Plus you would learn, FAST if your life depended on it.

Completely agree with you on the "taking too long to repair stuff" or even build in my opinion... i think that part needs heavy rebalancing as well as food and the greenhouse is a good idea..
I don't think the custom buildings is that necessary but it could be a good feature for the future
Also a couple things for your next playthrough
1. You can take out fuel of a car you're not going to use anymore using the tank button when inside a car and interacting with that squad.
2. I dont think you should tear down so many buildings at once. I understand why you did that about the building towers in place but i think you got too ambitious too quick
Hypothetically, a greenhouse can work without electricity, as a well insulated greenshouse (using double paned glasses for example) could trap enough heat absorbed from sunlight to keep it warm enought for plants to keep growing. Of course, with electrical heating and lights would of course help improve growth.
Having played only on an older build, I can say that partial adaptation is included already from earlier versions. You can see the option in the tooltip when you have an adaptation selected and mouse over building(example: ua-cam.com/video/Wjpx_QqlSQY/v-deo.html ). If you left click and drag, it will allow you to select how much of the building to adapt.
I won't say whether it's impossible for the dev to add multi-purpose adaptation(Possibly there are code/engine issues with selecting a single model and switching between types of structures within.), but I would think at least the ability to extend the adapation would make a lot of sense. For example, with a large building, you could perhaps adapt 30% into residential, and later on as more people join, expand the adapted area instead of wasting 70% of the building.
@46:32 it is their "sleep" time, they can't work 24/7. They do need to add the effect of the workers going to their proper sleeping areas after work! Maybe they could setup like a shift schedule, where you can change the ratio of day vs night workers, or maybe into quad shift zones or something
This game is actually very much like Banished, Timberborn, Settlement Survival, it is the same framework and layout. This one is 10x more combat focus (with micro) and has the squads that you can directly control. I can't wait to get home (currently on business travel) to try this game out!
I know you mentioned the B word....:) (holding my rant - tagline for it "Banished IS the basis of all survival games nowadays")
They should do what frostpunk did and have "overtime" shifts etc IMO.
And have a policy structure eventually and edicts. I guess that could be a storyline in of itself.

Fresh start. You've been a real trooper for getting this far in the playthrough but an ordinary player would have quit or restarted long ago. The bugs with weather look annoying, and the missions like the army being bugged to not give any fresh developments are going to make every day predictable and boring, even if hordes continue getting bigger.
Try a new playthrough in a different city, maybe a favorite vacation spot. When I get this I want to try places like Montreal or Pittsburgh
I love games that are designed to kill you off at some point. Gmaes like ONI where you can easily get to cycle 5000+, or any game that you can can just breeze through, it is nice to see a game where you WILL lose, it is just a matter of when.....

You split a squad of 4 sent 2 to get a truck. So you now have a squad of 2 and 2 squads of one.
Like everyone else, I agree with the fresh start. Love to see the new fixes in the game.
I want to recommend something, when you take a car for agro they only shoot if they are stop and near the zombies, if you take 2 cars full of people with guns you are are loosing 8 guns and fire power that can help you making 2 more squad at base you drive with one citizen each car with out weapons

New Start would be my choice, to see the changes, before release and what the changes are.
I would like to see a new start with the fixes and updates they have added in, but I also would prefer to see it after the start to be honest. I have been watching from the start of the series and I am incredibly invested in the current little outpost lol
"Greenhouses need electricity" : the great greenhouses of the Paris Botanical Gardens, built in the 17th century, would really like to disagree :D
In fact, two of the "hot greenhouses" hosting tropical plants were inaugurated in 1708, long long before the way we generate and use electricity today was even invented. It was a time when the only forays into electricity were either from thunder, or from static electricity devices.
PS : the first "hot greenhouses" made to host tropical / exotic plants were ordered and built in the late 1500s / early 1600s. But we have nothing left of those. They were simple wooden armatures with thick glass windows, and they were enough to let tropical plants survive in the Paris winters

by the way, as far as I know, the "huge electricity requirement" for the greenhouses we use nowadays to grow things mostly come from hydroponics - the growing of stuff not in dirt but in tube-like things, like greenhouses in spain to grow tomatoes.
meanwhile, if you only need heat in your greenhouse... woodstoves are still used today !
So, instead of electricity, maybe wood ? or maybe even... a choice between wood and electricity ? that could be nice :D

Although with all the things needing wood in the game already… they really need to also give me a way to grow trees, because there are only so many close to my base I can chop down. I guess there are always buildings to break, but still.

I think the French copied us. We had hot houses in the 16th/17th centruies for sure. (What I remember from school, Oxford, Kew and where Eden is now (Project Eden was 21st century but was built upon an old "garden"))

I'd say restart. You can't chow what the ganme is like or teach us much about it if has changed so much. With what you have learned playing this version you should also show a much more succesful playthrough for us.

Better have a full fresh start with less bugs to worry about. And l think it also would prevent any future bugs too, and since the game is about to come out soon too, l do not see why not have a fresh new start too.
I looked up how long it would take to build a 10 ft wall. I took the first answer that came up. The time it takes to build a wall depends on its size, and framing a wall can take about one to two hours for every four feet... A basic non-load-bearing interior wall can be built in a day or two.
Man... did you see the shoot speed of the arrows in the gate? the lower damage is fine with that speeeeeeed! oh.. FRESH start vote here :D

Also forgot to comment on this video, or the last video, but i swear to god you can sub divide the buildings already in this game. Yours is the first and only videos i have seen on it, but just the style, like when adapting the buildings, makes me think you can, or they will be adding it sooner or later.
Like you have it with your HQ, i guess HQ size has a max size, so it only used SOME of the building.
You cannot have mixed-purpose buildings. At least not in this build, or the next.

Also If you want your people to build faster have Storage/warehouses Closer to those buildings as it would cut down on time that is needed to move from their job and getting the materials!

I was thinking… let’s see if it’s possible to save this, and then we’ll get going on a new run - provided there are a substantial amount of these bugs fixed.
Personally, I would like to see a fresh start, although the release is not so far away and you could wait. However, I have a small suggestion: make a mini-series with challenges. Set up a few rules, such as "no walls", "no farming", "just scavaging", you get the idea. I think this would be quite entertaining, even though the game is already difficult enough. Anyway, I'm looking forward to watching new episode.@@CharliePryor
Questions: (and to be clear the vehicles just sitting in way all over is triggering me so there is that)
-When things got 'real' why not use vehicles to mow down the Infects? It only damages car not persons correct? Do they hop out when it finally dies (bad mojo if swarmed)
-Why using your trucks (which carry the most) as the 'Sweepers' with Infects and not the less valuable cars?
-Does the TRUCK give more firepower since they sitting in open in rear or is same as car... which would counter my previous question
The ability to set where car unloads from, the ability to transfer gas are def needed
I know, EA so things will change. Keep it up, grats on some vision; you deserve it you make good content. Suckered me into buy/playing more then 600+ into W&R way back from your first playthrough (oh it was so simple then, lol)
As soon as the durability of the vehicle goes to 0, your squad is out and immediately exposed as if there is no vehicle there. As vehicles take damage, they move much slower, decreasing their effectiveness and increasing the danger of using them near swarms.
Using the truck because it isn’t damaged much. I can move better. I don’t care about the cargo capacity. I care about its maneuverability for this task. The other cars are damaged and slower now.
There is no way to fix damaged vehicles, so if I’m running over all the infected with the car, I’m doing damage to a valuable tool I cannot repair.
The updated version allows for repairing vehicles.

Surprised yu thought this game wouldn't break records. It's certianly been my highly anticipated game for about 3/4 years now.
Plus when the tech demo came out two years ago out now, all of those channels for millions of views. Anything "zombie" related is a win, and especially when you have this sort of zombie game with it. Building managing etc in YOUR OWN place and freeform. No "you can't adapt this building because, story" or what not. (like in SOD2) It's not arcadey either, it's realistic unlike 7 Days to die. It's literally the game that has been pulled from many other games using a new technology (which is pretty "scify" for someone as old as me) with competant devs? It's like a dream. haha!
PS also added bonus, I don't need to upgrade my (silver) machine to play it. Double points.

Start a new game after release. It’s fair that new patches are not save compatible. As a beta tester they expect players to continuously play the game from all points to see if anything works or doesn’t, and if it’s a balance patch I imagine they’d want people to start from the beginning to compare. But from a gamer standpoint I completely agree with the frustration. Not much you can do about it though!
Charlie if the new game fixes some of the big bugs of the game (meat, reparation time for walls) then new start it is!
Thing is I don’t know for sure that they do. The changelog isn’t specific enough.

My vote is for you to keep playing the old version for the moment since there will likely be another update for release is my guess.
That being said it could change should you encounter game breaking bugs that may have been fixed in which case I’m down to see a fresh start with the information you have learned I would very much like to see a new location used though if this was the case
I've really enjoyed this playthrough but would love to see a restart with new updates and any new fun stuff they implemented. Will the bugs be gone or will new zombie bugs splat the screen.

He's been worried about a larger raid group/the army coming but I think that mission was killed by a bug :(

What if for the electricity problem, you could scavenge for portable generators and then use the generators for the greenhouse the same way you have to use tools for the farm plots?
It’s interesting, but as I’ve been informed by another comment, greenhouse doesn’t need electricity unless doing hydroponics. Could just burn wood to keep it warm. ;)

@@danielbarber5589 I wouldn’t think so. Just takes burning wood every day, and could operate just like a regular farm, except more expensive to build, and could operate in winter provided there is wood to burn.

Please restart the game after launch because the bugs are very annoying and the launch version must be what was needed to get everything right, not to mention the new content that may be available to play.
