Got any hilarious and obscure games you would want to see in the next video? Let me know and If its selected will get a special shout out in the next vid!
I would recommend the Overlord games, if you haven't covered them already. Very much the same style of "parody fantasy", with a good sense of humour.
The first game has aged kinda poorly (it has some SERIOUSLY clunky controls and mechanics), but Overlord 2 still holds up pretty well!
You should try the Owinka Shooter games. First one is free. They're absolutely stupid in the best ways.
You GOTTA check out Deathspank!
Close, we spent HALF the budget on comedy writers, because we were practically just two guys developing the whole thing and I was the one who handled narrative. Then again, the budget was pretty much 0, so I guess you could be technically right as well…
It’s always nice seeing someone who appreciates Zenith despite its flaws. Considering its humble origins, it didn’t sell badly and could have even been called a bit of a success… if the publisher hadn’t taken the money and ran away, also leaving us locked out of the console versions in the process haha Ah, the joys of being a small indie developer! I always recommend the PC version, since it’s the one we developed directly (and also the only one we actually own).
If you like the blah and the humour, though, we later made Epic Chef, a much more solid game that is set in the same world as Zenith. “Food Wars in the Discworld” would be a good way to describe it.
In any case, thank you for the kind words, I’m glad you enjoyed the story!
Thanks for taking the time to watch the video. Sucks to hear about your issues with the publisher and thank you for putting so much time into making the game. Even if the game is rough around the edges It was your writing that took the game to another level and I hope this video helps showcase that to those that haven't seen it. Will 100% take a look at Epic Chef m8. Thanks again for the comment. PS If you are ever looking for voicework id love to be involved. :)
@@MitchManix Thanks, mate! Just let me point that without my partner there wouldn't have been a game at all! The ammount of elements he handled was, and still is, colossal. (We also got help from friends at a few stages of development, even if for most of the project we were only two fellas)
Will keep you in mind for VA for future projects. It definitely helps that you're in tune with our style :)
Cheers!
First of all. Thanks for you hard work and the games. The world needs more funny games and it is fine if they are a bit clunky or rough around the edges. But now to the MOST important question everyone is asking that just heard of the game and its developer. Where is the music in 23:03 from? Really...I agree with Mitch and that i also think i know the music from somewhere. Sound maybe a bit like from a Silent Hill like game? Maybe an aetheric FinalFantasy X toilet room? Please bring us some knowledge here...
Thanks :)
@@Parnyr This one wasn't one of our originals. Came from a pack named "Medieval Fantasy Audio Bundle" in the asset store, it's called The Palace.
(Also, there was no need to change the video title haha)
@@marclopez5555 Alrighty. Thanks for clarifying :) Now we can all sleep better.
“Reluctant angry wedding” is possibly the greatest soundtrack description I have ever heard 🥰
I've always wanted to hear a Funeral dirge for here comes the groom ready to rest in his tomb
Dun dun da dun
Da dun dun da doon
And the most accurate!
Yo it got me too 😂
''Well i don't have any gold to reward you with but i'm sure the game will give you experience points'' -some quest i did back in the day
If you've not yet played Sir Whoopass, it's very much in the same vein of silliness and references.
Spotted that bad boy a while back. Totally agree. Madness.
Thanks for the recommendation, I just bought both games.
Sir Whoopass is amazing!
Ah when fantasy doesn't always have to be "dark and gritty". Rincewind would be proud!
so fantasy being funtasy, I guess
instead it's dank and gritty
@@hiimspee828 u mean griddy?
Discworld was an actual fantasy world though, instead of just a mishmash of parody characters of popular games.
Emporer Soulspear's portrait looks so much like Bill Murray that I can't unsee it... Like I can't tell if it's intentional or not
I had the same thought; it *has* to be intentional, especially given how comedy-focused this game is.
THANK YOU! It wasn't coming to me and it huuuuurt.
I thought the same thing. Glad that I wasn't the only one.
Ah, Bards Tale beer song will forever live in my memory.
A long time ago, way back in history
When all there was to drink was nothing but cups of tea
Along came a man by the name of Charlie Mops
And brewed a wonderful drink, and made it out of hops.
He must have been an admiral,
a sultan or a king
some of my favorite things in that game were the singing drunks at every bar
That song isn't from Bard's tale man. Its been around since the 1930's, my grandfather used to sing it on the way to school. Its called beer beer beer.
@@bahamut256bro is 💯
Lord bless Charlie Mops the man who invented beer beer beer tiddily beer beer beer
I laughed WAY TOO HARD at the Tenor Singing Spiders xD
I actually DID laugh out loud at that!
@@anthonywatson7735 This game is wack as fuck, but funny as fuck at the same time
ha haaa haaa HAAAA Hahahahaha😂
It was the Golem launching the vinegar barrel full of Elf to the top of the mountain to save time carrying it that got me.
Wait. WAIT. Waitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwait.
An RPG where somebody FINALLY decks Tidus?
I'M IN!
the main character looks like he has a perpetual nosebleed cause of the color of the shadow on his nose.
This was my thought too! 😂
Too much nose candy
This feels like a 3d representation of every rpg maker made game ever, in a good way. Also that track at the end goes harder than it has any right to. 😆
"Press [Enter] to Sfarf!"
Instant sub, bell's on too.
You know a game is bonkers when you can't tell what's a skit and what's the actual game xD
This must be the Western version of Konosuba.
Taking the traditional story and making crazy fun out of it Mel Brooks style.
I guarantee anything Mel Brooks made would be better than Konosuba. 😭

Man, this vid is a goldmine for laughs.
I cannot believe how hard you nail every soundtrack callout. It's a chef's kiss every time.
You are an incredible content creator, your production, the fact that you did all the voice work, alongside reviewing the game, your humour, scriptwriting, and you even did the vocals and guitar for the end music! Quite remarkable, you are impressively talented my friend
Thank you. I appreciate that 😊
@@MitchManix Yes, thanks for the laugh.
you had me at "sarcasm perk" LOL
Huh... never heard of it. Makes me think of the 2005 "The Bard's Tale ARPG: Remastered and Resnarkled".
That the dalek-y robot voiced motivational golem stumbled when it said doctor, *chef's kiss.
23:00 appears to be simplified variant / parody of "Stones" from the Ultima series.
My first thought was a parody of the Tomb Raider 1 theme.
I thought it was some kind of Redveil grove abomination from floor 2 of a rpg game called Swordburst 2 on roblox.
I love the motivational golem, that’s a hilarious joke that should be used more often
I don't think I could play the game now without your voice over(s) :D
To be fair if giant spiders could sing I'd imagine they would get a few free meals because there's plenty of people that would just sit there and stare at the confusion of it all in disbelief
A spider barbershop quartet would be awesome
You should let them hire you for voicing most of the characters xD
I think I love these videos so much because, I love the silliness of their writing, style and cutscenes but I KNOW i wouldn't be able to sit through the gameplay of them 😂
man this brings back memories. This game is in my personel all time favorites. I loved the writing that much. It was an awesome ride form beginning to end, even thought the gameplay was super clunky and sometimes frustrating, I had such a good time with it.
Y'know. This video got recommended to me. Of course I wanted to watch it because "Hey, I love me funny RPGs that subvert the tropes." But I think I'm much more blown away by the fact you did VA for this video, and that you have a german song at the end that's just as nonsense as the game itself. The game does seem a loving parody of both WRPG and JRPG nonsense (given that the big bad is killed trough the power of friendship n junk.)
Thanks for covering Zenith, its pretty clunky gameplay wise but the humor is so great,
Tho infinigon could have workshoped the title more, one would never guess the comedic tone from the title
23:10 - There's nothing wrong with sticking a cricket bat up your arse, as long as you use the HANDLE end!
So that's how you do it
Thanks 🏏😎👍
All this time I've been doing it wrong!
Wait wait. You mean I wasn't supposed to take "f*** me sideways" literally? You should have spoken up long ago.
Hey, if you _can_ do it some other way, more power to you! Just means there's something very wrong with you. But, hey - showing my age here - Goatse needs some competition! (Ask your grandparents.)
Me at first: “this can’t make me laugh”
The video: “Before we embrace I must take my true form.” “I didn’t think that would happen until 10 years after marriage.”
Me: *FUCKING DIES WHEEZING*
Once again a video that is both informative and funny AF. Thank you sir. You rock as always.
5:06 - Wait, is the emperor somehow _Bill Murray?!?_
Yo 😂😂
John Wayne maybe?
I loved this so much I paused at 1:49 and bought the game. You get a like and a sub, my good sir!
"With the adventurers bravely running away away." I smell what you're stepping in, Sir.
I found this channel with Sir Whoopass and subscribed after seeing this video. And I'm buying both games.
I miss games that actually want you to have FUN, in a world that thinks fun and humor average out to a four-letter word.
Thanks for finding these gems.
I hate spiders SO MUCH, but the tenor ones were amazingly hilarious, lol. Actually started crying a little bit, I was laughing so much.
You have to give DeathSpank a shot. It's absolutely hilarious.
Oooh, man, that's a name I haven't thought of in a looong time. I remember the combat being a little stale, but it was quite goofy.
Get felt!
I love DeathSpank.
An infinite supply of Heck from Heaven for you all!
And God Hand while you're at it!
Sounds like a game that we need to make A LOT MORE TODAY.
Malevolent EA is spot on bro. After what they did to Bioware and Mass Effect and the Dragon age franchises.
I caught that Mighty Boosh reference you put in 😂
21:10 I like that the Chancellor spends the entire scene doing a finger-drumming idle animation as though nothing happening is worth her time.
Lunk - an hommage to Cyanide and Happiness - how cute. :)
I suspect that may just be a case of parallel evolution. It's not exactly an un-obvious name, and he certainly LOOKS nothing like C&H Lunk.
naw, Link from Legend of Zelda. "hey listen" gave it aay.
@@BathrobeKeck Yeah they're not really subtle about the characters they're lampooning. Later on there's an off-brand Goku who's looking for 7 magical cubes that will grant his wish...
@@BathrobeKeck Yes, but Cyanide & Happiness also did an obvious Link parody named "Lunk". @Psycho was theorizing that this was a reference to _that._
I really love your takes on old weird games the best. Great overview! Also maybe check out Ember- it's less silly than this, but still kinda silly.
I appreciate your German singing. Well done.
Ram my Stein
You are my long lost brother in puns
What a brilliant video, Mitch! Thanks for taking the time to make & publish it. The game looks bonkers and a lot of fun - it's this type of thing I really wish Xbox would push for on their GamePass service. I really hope you have more unearthed gems for us all!....
Ah yes when your wedding is a boss fight
Brilliant your running commentary was spot on 😂
This is so awesome, I'm so glad I got to experience this game vicariously through you. Massive Fable fan as a kid and love that irreverent yet charming style of humor, thank you
Loved the Till Lindemann Rammstein cameo...lol
He do be rammin that stein
I absolutely love the musical parody you made, I actually quite like that sort of music and your version made me laugh out loud:)
This was a half hour well spent - thank you!
I would say its a spirtual sequel to the imposter sequel of Bards Tale released in the early 2000s...the OG Bards Tales from the 1980s weren't quirky humor games...it was deep fun fantasy :)
Based channel my dude
Dungeonmans, Rustler (aka Grand Theft Horse) and _Yet Another Fantasy Title_ are also full of great humor.
I love me some sarcastic wizard adventures. It reminds me a bit of a more action oriented Simon the Sorcerer in places.
This didn't fly under the radar, it flopped. I remember it and nobody had anything good to say about it at the time. But I agree, in retrospect it was a last hurrah for comedic parody rpgs.
You make me want to watch the whole thing but simultaneously do not want to be spoil so I can play this later. God damn it Mitch, I love you :))
23:05 Makes sense why this song reminds you of another game. One of the instrument is playing "The Song of Time" From "Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time."
You can tell this game was made with passion but with very very very low budget and skill involved.
This is the kind of game that needs to be funded instead of these quadruple A games...
I want the extended version of the music 😂
I engage in a little nostalgia every 5 or so years. Bad controls were a hallmark of the time. And who knows, maybe we are doing it all wrong as well.
As someone who grew up watching movies like the smoking gun and scary movie series, this is right up my alley 😅
Why did he throw a bucket at that woman's head?? lol
Divinity is a GOAT in my book, and Two Worlds series while being Jankier than the first ever helicopter I found to be incredibly entertaining XD
Song @ 23:00
It's got a very specific profile to it. Like for me it evokes memories from Skies of Arcadia and Tales of Symphonia, but also in a way it's kinda got a 32bit chiptune feel like you'd hear it in Secret of Evermore or Illusion of Gaia.
I am buying this game, never heard of it, looks like my kind of experience. Great vid as always!
you had me at singing giant spiders... its going on my list now.
Played this game a few years ago, I think it was going cheap on GOG.
Either way it was great fun, the elephant cannon was a highlight for me ^^
This is my second video made by mitchmanix, and I subscribed right after the bit with the tenor singing spiders bit.
“A BONG LIT MEAL!” Sounds like my kind of dinner 😂😂
I played this years ago after I randomly bought a physical PS4 copy from the UK. Had a lot of fun with it, and got a kick out of all the references to other games.
Great video, makes me want to play though it again on my Xbox.
Nice Mighty Boosh reference. That song is also my ringtone! 😂
The FFX awkward laugh reference got me :DD
I subscribed simply after the quartet spiders .. more than enough for me 10 stars ⭐️
Ok, watched first two minutes and I'm sold. Now just to find the time to play this masterpiece.
"he terminator 2's his way back into the lava" killed me! :D
1:34 Tidus??? Is that you??
I just discovered this channel and I love it.😂 Great work.
Loved your presentation of Zenith. Just purchased it on Steam so I can give it a try and maybe laugh!
I gave the scepter to the unexplained early on and incurred super hard mode I guess? I never played it again since it basically made all enemies max level and such, oh, and I was barred from the town since it was now burning and a dead souless husk. My tip do not explore the early bad ending, it was soul crushing for me when I was already going through some hard times IRL.
great video, as always
I actually was on the ps store looking at this about to buy. Then u said it's all text and u did the voices lmfao. No thanks the voices were stellar
The singing spiders still gets me.😂
Awesome video, so awesome I just had to go and buy it!! (OMG, what have I done....?!?)
That tunes sounds like some of the soundtrack to Azure Dreams for the PS1 maybe...
Your voice addition is brilliant!!
You had me at all the other stuff, but someone FINALLY punching Titus/Tidus for that diarrhea-inducing laugh is retribution I didn't know I needed in my gaming career.
One of my favorite games, that one! Along with The Bards Tale. Really wish we'd get more of these.
that first part reminded me of "The Gods Must Be Crazy"
No worries! You may say "we" if you have split personality, considering yourself a regent, or born under Gemini sign.
*This is the kind of thing I'd watch a **37:03** YT video on; and quietly chuckle to myself... but I'd never waist the *hours* it must have taken to play through this game. 😅
Man, those few clips of Divinity 2 bring back some good memories. Pissing off Amdusias by telling him "Maxos" will never not be funny.
I'm sure the weed is helping, but that flaming rocket cat deus ex machina scene got me good.
what an absolutely tear-jerking gut-punch of an ending =(
THANKS! Looks right up my alley, going to buy now I think. Good work promoting good stuff like this.
I'm reminded of David Prokopetz's description of Oglaf as "just D&D played by a group of slightly drunk college students." THAT'S the vibe I get from Zenith, right down to the odd juxtaposition of sci-fi elements into the fantasy! It is, in my opinion, one of the BEST vibes!
Until the end I wasn't sure if the voice acting was the game or if it was you voicing over lol still great job at this. A funny game that would have been interesting to play if I had known about it when it came out
Just curious, but why wouldn't it be interesting to play now?
I'm pretty sure the ice level music at 23:00 is from FF9's windmill peak area after escaping the Petrified Forrest.
Reminds me of how Armed and Dangerous is an action game. Great tongue in cheek and obviously not taking itself seriously. I'll have to check it out now.
