Urban skating doing a style that has no slides to stop looks so scary. But the sheer speed is so cool and the stride just looks so smooth, really oddly satisfying
Ari forget the comfort for your ankles 😁 (requires quite a long training). Give a try with powerblades ? With one or two weeks of training with Joey and a suitable diet, you can flirt with 25mph on flat. It might be cool to see you ice skating together on long track. Greetings from France fellas 🤙
This entire trip was EPIC! I’m from nyc. I know the entire route well….especially Prospect Park. My adrenaline was pumping watching you skate in the park know full well how steep the hill is before you reach the top by Grand Army Plaza. The video editing was awesome 😎.
I skate a 9mi trail in upstate NY (Helderberg Hudson) with 90MM wheels. 320' climb over 9 miles. 20MPH up slopes is unreal. I need to get larger wheels. I am not as fast as you but some cyclists on expensive bikes called me out at 22-24 mph yelling thats amazing! Damn you are in good shape!
I love watching the way you skate, it's like you're not even thinking about it, as if it's as natural as walking!! so satisfying, I can't see any struggle, and everything looks so balanced
I miss inline skating. Longest run I ever did was starting @ 72nd on the West side of Central Park, doing a counter clockwise loop of the Park, then heading south all the way to the Williamsburg Bridge and across it to head home in Brooklyn. And that was on a pair of cheap "hockey" offset inlines. 😆 Been looking at getting a new pair, but the only one that catches my eyes is quite an investment (>$500), with no way to even try them on locally and see how they feel. My last pair I ended up throwing out cause they ended up being too tight after having them on for some time. Felt great for the first 30 minutes, but after an hour I was rushing home to take them off.
there might be a shop there that you can try on before you buy. Lookup Roller Dynamic. I know very little about them, but you can start there at least, maybe they can point you in the right direction
I used to do that Prospect Park loop on my road bike when I lived in Crown Heights. Couldn't imagine doing it on blades after having skated from 96th. you're a beast
Way to be.. this is so fun.. keep up the great work.. your prospective is how I prefer to see most places.. from the trail.. hammer down.. moving meditation..
YEs I wear knee and wrist pads, elbow too. A squirrel ran out once, those things are worth their weight in gold. Probably would have been disabled without.
Very nice quality content of urban and speedskating combined. Stay healthy and unhurt. Without camera and backpack it would be too easy for you breaking that record👍🏼
I hope you told the cyclist you're an Olympic speedskater at the end so he could feel a little better about himself! Also, that climb segment might be easier next time without a backpack haha
I wonder if the invisible chair can be reworked to work while wearing a skate. That way you can sit anywhere heck even skate while you're sitting down,
@@JoeyMantiaSkates fwiw, I would still watch. Your sheer technique, skill and flow are hypnotic without the risky bits. Less exciting for you, I’m sure. Imagine a series on your channel that’s just you inline skating the most beautiful roads… I see a car commercial in your future too. Keep it up! You’re amazing!
I can see how your stride changed from being long and light and looking effortless to being heavy and short towards the end. If you weren’t holding the camera you could have put both hands on your legs to help push through.
Hi, do you slow yourself down on purpose? I mean casual clothes and backpack. Would argue you would follow those bikes easily with your suit. 2-3km/h advantage. Comparaison on track would be interesting, with and without suit and backpack. Love your vids
You had a camera and a backpack and you were disappointed you didn't break the record???? I've skated Prospect Park a few times and those hills are killer. That was really fun to watch! Next time, really go for it - drop the camera and the backpack, put your skin suit on and have a cyclist follow you with a go pro - I'm guessing you'll smoke the record!
Interesting how everyone celebrates this pasty fellow terrorizing pedestrians who have a right to cross. Meanwhile the comment sections are a polar opposite when "urban youth" perform such stunts. 🤔
it's a lot more dangerous going that fast in the bike lane than in the streets because you can't see anything, and you have almost no options if something jumps out in front of you
Amateur skater for 30 years here, who also skates on streets. Just as much as I do admire your skill and fitness - I found this clip reckless. True, you can handle situations that most skaters can't. But please reserve this power to races and don't scare hundreds of pedestrians and car drivers. Even those who didn't get a heart attack had all reason to be annoyed about peak entitlement on display. Just commenting on the street-portion of this clip.
Lost me in the first 3 seconds. You have no business occupying both lanes of a two lane bike path, especially one as narrow as the Brooklyn Bridge. If you can't skate in a straight line in two way or shared spaces ,you have no business being on the road.

That was pure art
Your legs are ripped, man. Respect.
I just enjoyed all 24 minutes. It's interesting to see people who are so good at their job/work/hobby being extremely self-criticized.
That was insane, the close calls on the road were scary and the park lap was so fast! keep it up!
Do speed skates win? Maybe I should try this 👀
speed skates always win
What is the name brand of the speed skates you have on in this video! Big thanks!
@@rollerbladeguru check the description of the video 👍
Thank you, Joey, for posting the video I am an urban skater and I always win in my city.

Really nice video, I enjoyed it so much. That mix of urban skating with speed skates it’s crazy, makes me gonna go to hit the streets , jajajaa.

When Covid happened in 2020, I had Times Square all to myself on my skates!!
You are crazy Joey. But i love it 😂 🔥🔥
it's just mesmerizing to watch. Félicitations !
For gourmets 🤙Does a Joey and Bart Swings duet is possible ?
Nice speed, buddy!
Great work!!
the back view facing forwards is my favorite view, maybe try out a backpack with the stick mounted behind you looking forward. might be pretty cool
Woah buddy! So much adrenaline pumping 👍

I would wear a bit more protection skating on the streets but otherwise that was epic, love it!

I was skating a couple days ago and absolutely left a little kid on a strider in the dust
Amazing video! stay safe!
After 13 miles and being that competitive. Jesus I hope my fall off is near this lol. That was a fun watch
Incredible… a great watch. Thank you!
But Why not go through Central Park at the start?
Central park doesn't have cars to dodge or lights to time. It's a nice place to skate, but a lot less exciting than this

Love the no music part just wheel and street sounds
Can't do that in Phoenix, Arizona bad streets and 45 mph speed limits in the CITY.
I can see how your stride changed from being long and light and looking effortless to being heavy and short towards the end. If you weren’t holding the camera you could have put both hands on your legs to help push through.

What size wheels are you using? Crazy fast!
Amazing wow!
Jose the Gardener from Ocala says, "Hola"!
I've always wondered. do you sometimes feels like the speed skates 4x110 is not manouvreable? or are you just so used it its not an issue?

ah I just like to be comfortable for content like this. No doubt with a suit things would be noticeably easier

what is groove? what does it consists of? bigger skate = slower groove or no?
Urban speed skating 🔥🔥💪💪👌
Fight till the end🔥🔥
How you drive these skates to 30mph :O Thats insane fast , i ll learn it ! Double push i learned :)
Looks fun

How fast are you going????
but your work out makes me win thanks alot
haha nvm, just got to the part where you mentioned forgetting to start your watch

Nice legs and calfs
Does the 1 x4 battery captures all this content?
yea, I brought 2, but only needed 1

please make the mcargo boot review
I need more time, you can't make an honest review after just a couple of weeks. It's coming
It looks like you don't sweat, do you? with 30 minutes of bike I sweat a lot
