    I wonder if he sat around trying to perfect the way Elliott talks. No way he didn’t pick that up from Elliott.

    thanks a lot mate, i was just wondering what guitar strings u use to get that lovely warm sound or is it your guitar?

    • @brushstrokemedallion
      @brushstrokemedallion  2 місяці тому +1

      put a balloon over the bridge and you’re good to go. it helps dampen some of the higher frequencies and clips the sustain a little. having a tiny parlor guitar will help too but this is my sister’s guitar and the strings probably haven’t changed since 2010 so i don’t know if that’s where the secret lies.

    This channel is a gem. What do you think of Stickman by elliott smith? All the covers I watch seem to have something missing or something not quite right. Is that just a quirk of the song?

    • @brushstrokemedallion
      @brushstrokemedallion  3 роки тому

      i haven’t watched people’s covers of stickman on here but if they’re like a lot of the other elliott covers on youtube, chances are there’s some stuff missing. the right hand is obviously very idiosyncratic and difficult to replicate and the chord shapes in most songs are creative and made-up and tricky to figure out. but that’s what makes learning them so fun.

    What did you wrap on the bridge? I like your playing! Will try to pick up some of the ideas, thanks!

    Hey dude, just curious, what is that nice vintage looking small body that you're playing?

    • @brushstrokemedallion
      @brushstrokemedallion  Рік тому +1

      it's a cheap plywood parlor guitar. it says meteor on the headstock

      Also thanks for teaching me Elliott's right hand style properly.
      Along with Dave van ronk, and stefan grossman, dick rosmini styles it really has helped to complete the picture. Means the world to me. x
