The biggest difference you will notice is in the stiffness of the base plates. The Force baseplate I find way to stiff...they feel almost dead to me compared to the Cartel feel. Rode them for half a season and than switched back to Cartels. Its all preference though.
Hey dude im kinda intermediate level I've been snowboarding for 2 and a half seasons now and I'm looking to upgrades from rentals. I've been really interested in the descendant and was wondering is the cartel reflex would be good with them paired with the boa rulers. I mostly do all mountain but thinking about getting into the park.
Getting a gnu head space and plan on doing a little terrian park riding with boxes/rails and medium size jumps. Will be crusing looking for jumps on the side of the trails as well as trying out 360 jumps and ground tricks What will be the better playfull binding?
I would say both the Cartel and Malavita are perfect bindings for that all mountain style you are describing. I am more partial to the Malavita, as they seem a little more diverse, and they are a Burton team favorite. www.the-house.com/bt1mal06dg20zz-burton-snowboard-bindings.html
Hi matt, I have an Endeavor ranger, which one would be best for me Malavita or Cartel? And between boots would have better fit the Adidas Tactical or Deluxe id in the corresponding binding you chosen?
The Adidas Tactical's fit really well into any bindings. There isn't much difference between the Cartel and Malavita, basically the Malavita has the heel hammock and may be a little more soft. I would go with the Tactical and Malavita.
For freeriding and cruising and carving kinda hard and fast but not too fast on groomers and going through glades and hitting little jumps off natural features like side hits with a 2018/19 Capita Outerspace living i can't decide between malavita or the cartels. I am leaning towards the cartels because i don't ride park at all and have no interest in learning park or rails. Should i go with the cartels or would Malavitas be better? Any opinions or insight? They both seem like great bindings. I am a solid intermediate rider trying to progress I currently have Union STR bindings but want the Reflex discs for more board feel
Thanks for reaching out! Both are great bindings and you can't go wrong with either, but I'd have to go in the same direction you're thinking. The Cartels would be the way to go!
I’m an instructor who rides over 100 days a year. I own a pair of cartels at the moment. However, I’ve been having issues with baseplates snapping. I contacted burton who were willing to give me replacements; I never followed up. I snapped two base plates last season; my first season hitting the big jumps. I was told it was due to my landings being poop. The bindings that snapped we’re older 2010-2014 pairs, has the newer models improved durability wise or will the malavitas be more flexible/durable for my use. I ask because I’ve been considering other options such as the malavita or swapping to union.
WHoa! That's crazy! Maybe you had a manufactures defect, in multiple pair of Cartels?! We've never hear of someone breaking multiple Cartel base plates. Maybe jump on the Malavitas?!
Hi! With moto boa boots and custom camber board witch one would be better, Malavitas or cartel? I’m not really into snow parks yet, and rarely going off road.
Hi! 😊 We have just bought for my boyfriend new custom x board and cartel x est bindings, but we have burton moto boots, which we have purchased earlier. I can still return the boots, do you think we should decide on sthg stiffer, like ruler or phantom. We bought the shoes for comfort, but now I am wondering.... Thank you in advance 😊
I would definitely go for a little nicer boot. The Moto is a super comfy boot but it is for sure a little too soft to be running such a stiff set up. Anything from the Photo up would be great. -> www.the-house.com/snbo-burton
I've watched too many of these videos and read forums and can't get a solid determination. Cartels or Malavita? I will never do park, only do blues or blacks, I just like to carve and cruise. Recently picked up a Salamon Assassin and am worried that the board is too stiff for Malavitas? My friends are pushing me towards the Malavita because thats what they all own but they ride park a lot. Already bought both due to a good sale and will have to return one without testing them due to the return policy. Any insight would be great!
Honestly if you dont ride park I would go for the Cartel X. It has a little more stiffenss to it to make the Assassin feel a little quicker edge to edge. www.the-house.com/search.html?keywords=%22cartel+x%22+-est
You forgot to mention the lack of the doubletake ratchets on the cartels this year. I'm just curious as to why that was changed to the regular ratchet for this season.
Its so stupid even at 300 dollars for a picce of glass fiber reinforced plastic they cant even afford to give us nicer ratches the main reason i dont like burton (but i ride them becase there high end stuff is awsome) they are literly made out of the same stuff as hand drills but cost 3 times as much and they dont have a motor
Help out a color-blind dude... just picked up a Ripsaw and I'm going Malavita or Cartel. Not sure I can go wrong, but how orange-y is the matte red on the cartel? It looks like it works with the Ripsaw but I have yet to compare in person. Love my '14 Cartels, will I think the Malavita is too flexy? Is there a big difference or just a little one?
You sure can, Burton still makes 3D discs for the ReFlex bindings but they are not included in the box with the bindings. Most of the discs end up being wasted so they stopped putting them in the box. You can get a set from Burton or from The House.
I have the FA and and Cartels EST, they seem to work together perfectly. Super reaponsive, snappy, handle chop great! Really can't ask for for a better combo personally.
Get a pair of Burton Cartel's! If you get the EST version there will be more board feel, which is the point of them making baseless bindings and the channel mounting system.
@@thehouse thank you. I was eyeing cartels or malavitas. I'm not doing any park stuff. Wasn't sure if cartels are too stiff or just right. For carving I imagine they are just right.
About to buy a last year model Burton Custom 162W. A bit lost with the binding pick.. Would you suggest Cartel EST or Malevita EST? Board will be used mostly for powder and all mountain uses.
@@thehouse I have the DOA and the Just got the Malavita WING TIPS last season as I like to ride switch and it actually gives you more lateral leverage for turning, buttering, power! Love the DOA/Malavita combo!!
This season i am getting a Rossignol Angus board (trying something different) and i am in between these 2 bindings... any suggestions and recommendation? Or would you suggest a different binding for the Angus?
It all depends on what feels best for you. Lots of people ride it with zero forward lean when they're in the park and tend to ride with the 3 setting for all mountain. Put it at 1 for a little and then more to 2, and then to 3... you'll be able to tell what setting is best for you.
Hey Matt - new rider this year, been renting all season. About to buy my first board and looking at the riptide. If I went with a Cartel, would the reflex be better for long term in case my future boards don’t have a channel? I dont yet have riding preferences (still mastering greens and starting to touch blues). I don’t expect any park in my future, but hope to carve within the next 2-3 years.
Yo! Thanks for reaching out! The Ripcord would a great board for you, but instead of the Cartels, you could save some money and get the Burton Mission bindings. The Missions would match up better for your ability and for the Ripcord.
You have a rad board and boot setup! Great picks! If you're mostly riding groomers get the Cartels, if you're hitting mostly park and want a lot of comfort get the Malavitas, and if you want a great binding that does everything well at a great price get the Missions. I'd put Cartels on the Great. Red Cartels to make the colors POP!
The toe caps of my Burton Cartel was cut and ripped by the straps. I realize that I need to cut the extra length of the toe strap once I got it fitted to the boot, so as to avoid the extra length of the toe strap cutting through the toe cap when buckling, anyone having the same problem ?
I'd live to know why people are so obsessed with Unions... I have only ever used cartels and have only one use but that is after the binding is 8plus years old was a sticky ratchet. My new cartels not a single issue and I love the flex strap they added
