    Got my first Custom in 1997, then stepped up to the Custom X in like 05, never looked back. Best board on the market period.

      Both boards are super sick boards but I'd say if you are torn between the 2 the biggest decision would be where you ride. The Deep Thinker will be a little more fun if you want to dip into the park here and there. The Flight Attendant can play in the park but it's pretty much a freeride killer.

      @@thehouse I mostly stick to fun carve and a bit parks for the last few seasons. Of course I love powder as well, but unfortunately I don't have much of it here. In this case I realise that I was right when chose deep thinker last season. Thank you 👍!

      I ordered the custom last night! Couldn't help myself. I'm upgrading from last year's 154 custom flying v to the 158 custom camber. Weight 170ish. I absolutely loved the flying v custom but I need the stability for the bigger jumps!

      If you never ride park go with the Flight Attendant, if you spend some time in the park do the Custom

      @@thehouse I got the wonderful opportunity to ride both for several full days, and could not agree more with your assessment. The Flight Attendant is ultra confidence-inspiring on hard pack (ice, let's be real) and, floated with minimal effort, in the bit of powder I did find at Sugarloaf, ME. Something that cannot be overstated, is the FA's superb edge hold, but the custom is absolutely the park rider's choice. Both will charge beautifully hard in most all conditions. I preferred the FA, simply because I seldom leave the ground for long, and prefer to go deep into turns, regardless of conditions. They are both super satisfying, high quality boards- as expected from Burton!

    This vid really helped me out in deciding to snag a Custom. Riding on the east coast, a full camber board is the real deal. Stability and edge hold is insane. This board rails! 170w fits me perfect with my sasquatch feet. Also love the clean, modern top sheet design.

    Dear Matt Guf, thanks a bunch for all the great reviews and info on ...
    well ... all of it ;) I wanna get a new flight attendant. I'm 6'4",
    about 75kg with a size 12 Burton Photon. Would you recommend a 159w or a
    162w? The extra 0.4cm width of the 162w are nice, but I might just be
    too light for that board as it starts somewhere in the 80kg region and
    goes way up. I'm afraid I might not be able to ride it too well on
    groomers due to that. Which one would you recommend? I would highly
    appreciate a help on that!! Keep up that great work and have a great
    winter!

    I currently have the 2018 custom camber 162w, looking to get a additional board for softer snow and powder conditions when I go out west, would the flight attendant be my best option? Or should I just set my bindings all the way back on my custom?

    • @thehouse
      @thehouse  4 роки тому

      The FA has a similar stiffness to the Custom. If you want a board that's softer than the Custom but for deeper snow check out the One Hitter!

    Hi, I’m struggling to decide on a board. I mainly ride on the groomers, and like to hit a few jumps at the side. I usually always ride fast. Most places I go have all conditions from soft snow to hard ice.
    I’m kinda torn between the FA and the gnu riders choice.
    Or do you recommend something else???
    Any input would be great. Cheers.👍🏽👍🏽

    • @thehouse
      @thehouse  5 років тому +2

      The FA is more of an all mountain board over the RC which is more park oriented with it's twin shape. The Burton Custom would be a great board for you to crush pow and hit the occasional jump/ sidehit!

    I am so back and forth on a board. I live on the east coast, but go to Whistler once a year and either Jackson, Tahoe, or Salt Lake area once a year. I have a Burton Process Flying V that is 5 years old. It works great in good snow, but edge hold on east coast ice is no bueno. I like to hit laps in the park, charge the groomers, and when out west hit as much pow and backcountry as I can find. Seems you can't go wrong with a Custom, but ideally I think I need a powder board for my trips west and a camber twin for local 80% of my riding. What 2 boards would you suggest? Thanks!

    Why do the family tree lines not have frostbite edges? Just wondering :)

    • @thehouse
      @thehouse  5 років тому +1

      They're mostly designed to be ridden in deeper snow were Frostbite isn't needed as much - also to keep the cost down. What Family Tree board to you want to have Frostbite? The Hometown Hero and One Hitter would be my choices.

      Hmm be cool if the boards that become part of the line get a few upgrades. F.a and s.k would welcome it as they are quite freeride. I was on my speed date a few months ago backcountry and it was letting go when hitting harder patches traversing. I swapped to my optimistic and it did a killer job at it. Love burton boards though.

    I'm going to Utah for a week in January. Thinking about the flight attendant or Skeleton key. I have a feeling my Custom 154 is not going to perform as well as I like in the super deep pow. Thinking maybe a Mt pig too idk. I plan on riding the steeps and possibly some smaller cliff drops/backcountry

    Hey Matt I love the channel and have been watching forever! I finally have a question after all of these years. I've predominantly rode Burton snowboards since they came out with the Channel System, I dunno there is just something about the flex that won me over. I currently own a 2019 Burton Process (Flying V), A 2019 Descendent, a 20th anniversary Burton Custom (Camber), and a 2018 Burton Custom X (Flying V), plus some older boards that im not even going to mention, this is basically my fleet. 1 hard camber, 1 soft camber, 1 hard hybrid, 1 soft hybrid. My question is.. would I notice a major upgrade in swapping out my 20th anniversary Burton Custom for the 2020 Burton Free Thinker. My custom is in hella good condition, I don't notice much difference in the ride or flex since I bought it 3 years ago. I know the 20th anniversary has some older tech, but is it really worth the upgrade? And before the question arises "why don't you upgrade to a 2020 or 2019 custom".. I'd like to point out that I live in Whistler BC and we have an insane buy and sell community of snowboards, and I basically found a brand spanking new 2020 Free thinker for 500CAD which is like 385/390 USD... which is a great deal, but if my custom is going to be on par then I would rather drop the money on something like a Deep Thinker. BTW my riding style is fairly aggressive when it comes to harder flex cambers, I tend to ride a lot of bowls, kickers, and anything I can really throw myself off! Thanks homie! MAD LOVE FROM WHISTLER BC!

    • @thehouse
      @thehouse  4 роки тому

      I think the Free Thinker and Custom are very similar, and you probably wouldn't notice much of a difference. Like you said, if anything, I would just go with the Deep Thinker.
