Couple tips:
1) When burning score lines, make sure you offset the design inwards (I use .03mm) so that your letters cover them entirely.
2) Titebond transparent wood glue is awesome. Very forgiving and dries clear. Pair this with micro silicone brushes from Rockler for spreading.
Ryan Nanca thanks Ryan! I always do an inward offset but I’ll definitely give titebond transparent a try. 💪🏼
Hoping to get my laser within the next month, I've easily watched 40 hours of videos on lasers in the past week or so and your videos have been some of the most helpful online!
Amazing work!
Wow. Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm happy to hear you're enjoying my content. :)
Hmmm, my state has more weddings than any other place on earth... maybe, just maybe this could be my place
This is beautiful! Can I ask what font you used for the surname? And I’m def gonna try the score method! I’ve learned so much from u, thank you!!!
Very nice ..
Variety style thank you!
I just ordered my first laser, I'm new, forgive me if this is a dumb question. Is there a reason why you couldn't do the lettering as an engrave and inlay the cut letters into the backboard? My brain is telling me that would make it very easy to have everything come out perfect every time, but there MUST be a reason why everyone does it this way. Thank you for your content, you're one of a few content creators that's really motivated me into this hobby/business.
I want to know this as well!
I have had my thunder laser for about 3 months now and I haven't done any inlays but with my kerf adjustment calculated for the materials, I'm super confident that it would work.
The reason is time. It can be time consuming for a laser to remove that much material, even if its about 1mm deep. Even with a soft wood such as pine, its alot of wood to burn.
Another fantastic video
I would give you a minor recommendation for you to try out in regards to glue. I have lately become a huge fan of spray adhesive. works great, quick (spray the back of an entire piece) and sticks really well. superglue in a spray basically with no side seepage when you press down. Give it a shot, I think you will find it much easier
Rob Xsiq I’ve contemplated this but I’m concerned about how the edges will look with the glue. I’m going to give it a try! Thank you!
@@ThatMomWithALaser Good point. I tend to glue big things, doing dainty lines may make the edges a little bit odd on close inspection perhaps. Try on just some scrap might be a good idea
I've had bad luck with other glues though, but that might be because I am like a bull trying to do fine arts.
